Abstract:The method of nonlinear self-adjointness is applied to the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation. The infinite set of conservation laws associated with the infinite algebra of Lie point symmetry of the KP equation is constructed.

Abstract:The general concept of nonlinear self-adjointness of differential equations is introduced. It includes the linear self-adjointness as a particular case. Moreover, it embraces the previous notions of self-adjoint and quasi self-adjoint nonlinear equations. The class of nonlinearly self-adjoint equations includes, in particular, all linear equations. Conservation laws associated with symmetries can be constructed for all nonlinearly self-adjoint differential equations and systems. The number of equations in systems can be different from the number of dependent variables.

Abstract:In this paper, Lie symmetry analysis method is applied to the (2+1)-dimensional time fractional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation with the mixed derivative of Riemann-Liouville time-fractional derivative and integer-order $x$-derivative. We obtained all the Lie symmetries admitted by the KP equation and used them to reduce the (2+1)-dimensional fractional partial differential equation with Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative to some (1+1)-dimensional fractional partial differential equations with Erdélyi-Kober fractional derivative or Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative, thereby getting some exact solutions of the reduced equations. In addition, the new conservation theorem and the generalization of Noether operators are developed to construct the conservation laws for the equation studied.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into the study of the generalized KP equation, which incorporates double-power nonlinearities. Our investigation covers various aspects, including the existence of solitary waves, their nonlinear stability, and instability. Notably, we address a broader class of nonlinearities represented by $\mu_1|u|^{p_1-1}u+\mu_2|u|^{p_2-1}u$, with $p_1>p_2$, encompassing cases where $\mu_1>0$ and $\mu_1<0<\mu_2$. One of the distinct features of our work is the absence of scaling, which introduces several challenges in establishing the existence of ground states. To overcome these challenges, we employ two different minimization problems, offering novel approaches to address this issue. Furthermore, our study includes a nuanced analysis to ascertain the stability of these ground states. Intriguingly, we extend our stability analysis to encompass cases where the convexity of the Lyapunov function is not guaranteed. This expansion of stability criteria represents a significant contribution to the field. Moving beyond the analysis of solitary waves, we shift our focus to the associated Cauchy problem. Here, we derive criteria that determine whether solutions exhibit finite-time blow-up or remain uniformly bounded within the energy space. Remarkably, our study unveils a notable gap in the existing literature, characterized by the absence of both theoretical evidence of blow-up and uniform boundedness. To explore this intriguing scenario, we employ the integrating factor method, providing a numerical investigation of solution behavior. This method distinguishes itself by offering spectral-order accuracy in space and fourth-order accuracy in time. Lastly, we rigorously establish the strong instability of the ground states, adding another layer of understanding to the complex dynamics inherent in the generalized KP equation.

Abstract:By constraining the potential of the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation to its co-invariants expressed in terms of the squared eigenfunctions, the KP equation is reduced to a (1 + 1)-dimensional system consisting of the generalized multicomponent nonlinear Schrödinger and modified Korteweg-de Vries equations. So any solution of this system gives rise to a solution of the KP equation, such as new kinds of soliton-like solutions and a solution periodic in the x direction.

Large-Time Asymptotics for the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili I Equation

Abstract:We prove large time asymptotics for solutions of the KP I equation with small initial data. Our assumptions on the initial data rule out lump solutions but give a precise description of the radiation field at large times. Our analysis uses the inverse scattering method and involves large-time asymptotics for solutions to a non-local Riemann-Hilbert problem.

Abstract:The main aim of this study is to conduct an in-depth exploration of a recently introduced extended variant of the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) equation. To achieve this goal, we employ the Galilean transformation to derive the dynamic framework associated with the governing equation. Subsequently, we apply the principles of planar dynamical system theory to perform a bifurcation analysis. By incorporating a perturbed element into the established dynamic framework, we explore the potential emergence of chaotic behaviors within the extended KP equation. This investigation is supported by the presentation of phase portraits in both two and three dimensions. Additionally, to ascertain the stability of solutions, we conduct a sensitivity analysis on the dynamic framework employing the Runge–Kutta method. Our results affirm that minor variations in initial conditions have minimal impact on solution stability. Furthermore, employing the modified tanh method, we construct multiple instances of solitons and kinks for the proposed model.

Abstract:In this study, we focus on investigating a novel extended (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashvili–Boussinesq-like (KPB-like) equation. Initially, we utilized the Lie symmetry method to determine the symmetry generator by considering the Lie invariance condition. Subsequently, by similar reduction, the equation becomes ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Exact analytical solutions were derived through the power series method, with a comprehensive proof of solution convergence. Employing the (G′/G2)-expansion method enabled the identification of trigonometric, exponential, and rational solutions of the equation. Furthermore, we established the auto-Bäcklund transformation of the equation. Multiple-soliton solutions were identified by utilizing Hirota's bilinear method. The fundamental properties of these solutions were elucidated through graphical representations. Our results are of certain value to the interpretation of nonlinear problems.

Abstract:We show that the discrete Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) equation with sources obtained recently by the “source generalization” method can be incorporated into the squared eigenfunction symmetry extension procedure. Moreover, using the known correspondence between Darboux-type transformations and additional independent variables, we demonstrate that the equation with sources can be derived from Hirota's discrete KP equations but in a space of higher dimension. In this way we uncover the origin of the source terms as coming from multidimensional consistency of the Hirota system itself.

Abstract:The Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) nonlinear wave equation is the three dimensional generalization of the Korteveg-de Vries (KdV) equation. We show how to obtain the cylindrical KP (cKP) and cartesian KP in relativistic fluid dynamics. The obtained KP equations describe the evolution of perturbations in the baryon density in a strongly interacting quark gluon plasma (sQGP) at zero temperature. We also show the analytical solitary wave solution of the KP equations in both cases.

Abstract:Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP)-typed models are used to elucidate certain shallow water waves that arise in plasma physics, marine engineering, ocean physics, fluid dynamics, etc. In this paper, we investigate a (3+1)-dimensional KP equation for the shallow water waves: (1) Via some exchange formulae, a bilinear Bäcklund transformation and the corresponding soliton-like solutions are constructed. (2) Via symbolic computation, fission/fusion solutions are derived with some parameter conditions in the N -soliton solutions, which are different from those in the existing literature, where N is a positive integer. We graphically display the spatial structures of the fission/fusion waves to supplement the existing literature. (3) Periodic-wave solutions are worked out via the Hirota-Riemann method. Via the asymptotic properties, relation between the periodic-wave and one-soliton solutions is discussed.

Abstract:Starting with a decomposition conjecture, we carefully explain the basic decompositions for Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation as well as the necessary calculation procedures, and it is shown that KP equation allows the Burgers-STO (BSTO) decomposition, two types of reducible coupled BSTO decompositions and the BSTO-KdV decomposition. Furthermore, we concentrate ourselves to point out the main idea and result on Bäcklund transformation of the KP equation based on a special superposition principle in the particular context of the BSTO decompositions. Using the framework of standard Lie point symmetry theory, these decompositions are studied and the problem of computing the corresponding symmetry constraints is treated.

Abstract:In this paper, Lie group analysis method is applied to the extended (3+1)-dimensional Kadomtsev-Petviashvili-Boussinesq equation and the corresponding similarity reduction equations are obtained with various infinitesimal generators. By selecting suitable arbitrary functions in the similarity reduction solutions, we obtain abundant invariant solutions, including the trigonometric solution, the kink-lump interaction solution, the interaction solution between lump wave and triangular periodic wave, the two-kink solution, the lump solution, the interaction between a lump and two-kink and the periodic lump solution in different planes. These exact solutions are also given graphically to show the detailed structures of this high dimensional integrable system.

Abstract:Partial differential equations are used to model problems in many scientific fields. To solve these equations, analytical and numerical techniques are created. This study considers the conformable version of the expanded Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation in (2+1) -dimensions for the first time. New exact and approximative solutions to the equation that do not exist in the literature are obtained using the analytical techniques of the (G′/G) -expansion and modified Kudryashov methods, as well as the numerical technique residual power series method. To better understand the dynamic nature of these findings, we have given 3D, contour, and 2D plots of some of the solutions. The development of numerous new exact solutions has demonstrated the reliability and effectiveness of the methods. We also provide an approximation table of values for the approximate solutions of the given equation using different values for various parameters.

Abstract:In nonlinear science, the interactions among solitons are well studied because the multiple soliton solutions can be obtained by various effective methods. However, it is very difficult to study interactions among different types of nonlinear waves such as the solitons (or solitary waves), the cnoidal periodic waves and Painleve waves. In this paper, taking the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (KP) equation as an illustration model, a new method is established to find interactions among different types of nonlinear waves. The nonlocal symmetries related to the Darboux transformation (DT) of the KP equation is localized after embedding the original system to an enlarged one. Then the DT is used to find the corresponding group invariant solutions. It is shown that the essential and unique role of the DT is to add an additional soliton on a Boussinesq-type wave or a KdV-type wave, which are two basic reductions of the KP equation. Abstract:It is well known that the Camassa-Holm equation possesses numerous remarkable properties characteristic for KdV type equations. In this paper we show that it shares one more property with the KdV equation. Namely, Ibragimov has shown that the KdV and the modified KdV equations are self-adjoint. Starting from the generalization of the Camassa-Holm equation, we prove that the Camassa-Holm equation is self-adjoint. This property is important, e.g. for constructing conservation laws associated with symmetries of the equation in question. Accordingly, we construct conservation laws for the generalized Camassa-Holm equation using its symmetries.

Abstract:We consider the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) equations posed on R 2 . For both models, we provide sequential in time asymptotic descriptions of solutions obtained from arbitrarily large initial data, inside regions of the plane not containing lumps or line solitons, and under minimal regularity assumptions. The proof involves the introduction of two new virial identities adapted to the KP dynamics. This new approach is particularly important in the KP-I case, where no monotonicity property was previously known. The core of our results do not require the use of the integrability of KP and are adaptable to well-posed perturbations.

Abstract:The Cauchy matrix approach is developed for solving nonisospectral Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation and the nonisospectral modified Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation. By means of a Sylvester equation , a set of scalar master functions are defined. We derive the evolution of scalar functions using the nonisospectral dispersion relations. Some explicit solutions are illustrated together with the analysis of their dynamics.
