Abstract:In this paper, we consider the normal form problem of a commutative family of germs of diffeomorphisms at a fixed point, say the origin, of $\mathbb{K}^n$ ($\mathbb{K}=\mathbb{C}$ or $\mathbb{R}$). We define a notion of integrability of such a family. We give sufficient conditions which ensure that such an integrable family can be transformed into a normal form by an analytic (resp. a smooth) transformation if the initial diffeomorphisms are analytic (resp. smooth).

Abstract:We show that for $n \geq 2$ there exist real analytic Hamiltonian systems on $\mathbf{R}^{2n}$ with non-resonant eigenvalues at a singular point, of which the Birkhoff normal form itself is divergent. The proof of the result is achieved by analyzing how the small-divisors enter the normal form.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to develop, for the first time, a general theory of simultaneous local normalisation of couples ( X , G ) , where X is a dynamical system (vector field) and G is an underlying geometric structure preserved by X, even if both have singularities. Such couples appear naturally in many problems, e.g. Hamiltonian dynamics, where G is a symplectic structure and one has the theory of Birkhoff normal forms, or constrained dynamics, where G is a smooth, in general singular, distribution of tangent subspaces, etc. In this paper, the geometric structure G is of the following types: volume form, symplectic form, contact form, Poisson tensor, as well as their singular versions. The paper addresses mainly the more difficult situations when both X and G are singular at a point and its results prove the existence of natural simultaneous normal forms in these cases. In general, the normalisation is only formal, but when G and X are (real or complex) analytic and X is analytically or Darboux integrable, then the simultaneous normalisation is also analytic. Our theory is based on a new approach, called the Toric Conservation Principle, as well as the classical step-by-step normalisation technique, and the equivariant path method.

On the Local Gevrey Integrability

Abstract:This paper uses the Gevrey's smooth normalization theory to investigate the local integrability of vector fields, which have linear parts with one zero eigenvalue and the others non-resonant. First, we explore the general properties of C∞ local integrability. Then we show the same regularity of the Gevrey's smooth local integrability as that of the vector fields under Poincaré's non-resonant condition for the case that the real parts of the eigenvalues are all positive or negative. Lastly, a sharper expression of the loss of the regularity is provided by the lowest order of the resonant terms together with the indices of Gevrey's smoothness and the diophantine condition for the case that the matrix is in the diagonal form. One of the main tools utilized here is the KAM method in the Banach space fixed with a weighted norm.

Abstract:A differential 1-form $\alpha$ on a manifold of odd dimension $2n+1$, which satisfies the contact condition $\alpha \wedge (d\alpha)^n \neq 0$ almost everywhere, but which vanishes at a point $O$, i.e. $\alpha (O) = 0$, is called a \textit{singular contact form} at $O$. The aim of this paper is to study local normal forms (formal, analytic and smooth) of such singular contact forms. Our study leads naturally to the study of normal forms of singular primitive 1-forms of a symplectic form $\omega$ in dimension $2n$, i.e. differential 1-forms $\gamma$ which vanish at a point and such that $d\gamma = \omega$, and their corresponding conformal vector fields. Our results are an extension and improvement of previous results obtained by other authors, in particular Lychagin \cite{Lychagin-1stOrder1975}, Webster \cite{Webster-1stOrder1987} and Zhitomirskii \cite{Zhito-1Form1986,Zhito-1Form1992}. We make use of both the classical normalization techniques and the toric approach to the normalization problem for dynamical systems \cite{Zung_Birkhoff2005, Zung_Integrable2016, Zung_AA2018}.

Abstract:The normal form theory for polynomial vector fields is extended to those for $C^\infty$ vector fields vanishing at the origin. Explicit formulas for the $C^\infty$ normal form and the near identity transformation which brings a vector field into its normal form are obtained by means of the renormalization group method. The dynamics of a given vector field such as the existence of invariant manifolds is investigated via its normal form. The $C^\infty$ normal form theory is applied to prove the existence of infinitely many periodic orbits of two dimensional systems which is not shown from polynomial normal forms.

Abstract:In an infinite dimensional Hilbert space we consider a family of commuting analytic vector fields vanishing at the origin and which are nonlinear perturbations of some fundamental linear vector fields. We prove that one can construct by the method of Poincaré normal form a local analytic coordinate transformation near the origin transforming the family into a normal form. The result applies to the KdV and NLS equations and to the Toda lattice with periodic boundary conditions. One gets existence of Birkhoff coordinates in a neighbourhood of the origin. The proof is obtained by directly estimating, in an iterative way, the terms of the Poincaré normal form and of the transformation to it, through a rapid convergence algorithm.

Abstract:We propose a new approach to the theory of normal forms for Hamiltonian systems near a non-resonant elliptic singular point. We consider the space of all Hamiltonian functions with such an equilibrium position at the origin and construct a differential equation in this space. Solutions of this equation move Hamiltonian functions towards their normal forms. Shifts along the flow of this equation correspond to canonical coordinate changes. So, we have a continuous normalization procedure. The formal aspect of the theory presents no difficulties. The analytic aspect and the problems of convergence of series are as usual non-trivial.

Normal families of holomorphic mappings between complex Finsler manifolds

Abstract:In this paper, we find that the integrated form $d_F$ of a complex Finsler metric $F$ is inner. The distance $d_F$ is complete if and only if every closed bounded subset of a complex manifold $M$ is compact. We prove a version of theorem for normal families of holomorphic mappings between two complex Finsler manifolds, i.e, the theorem of Montel in complex Finsler manifolds. Our results extend the basic theorem of strongly negatively curved families for a Hermitian manifold [Wu, Acta Math. 119(1967), 193-233] or [Grauert, Reckziegel, Math. Z. 89(1965), 108-125]. As applications, we obtain a complex Finsler version of theorems $A$-$F$ in [Wu, Acta Math. 119(1967), 193-233], including the Cartan-Carathéodory-Kaup-Wu theorem, the theorem of the automorphism group on a complex Finsler manifold and some rigid results.

Abstract:We prove a normal form theorem for principal Hamiltonian actions on Poisson manifolds around the zero locus of the moment map. The local model is the generalization to Poisson geometry of the classical minimal coupling construction from symplectic geometry of Sternberg and Weinstein. Further, we show that the result implies that the quotient Poisson manifold is linearizable, and we show how to extend the normal form to other values of the moment map.

Abstract:Phase space of a characteristic Hamiltonian system is a symplectic leaf of a factorizable Poisson Lie group. Its Hamiltonian is a restriction to the symplectic leaf of a function on the group which is invariant with respect to conjugations. It is shown in this paper that such a system is always integrable.

Abstract:A class of Hamiltonian impact systems exhibiting smooth near integrable behavior is presented. The underlying unperturbed model investigated is an integrable, separable, 2 degrees of freedom mechanical impact system with effectively bounded energy level sets and a single straight wall which preserves the separable structure. Singularities in the system appear either as trajectories with tangent impacts or as singularities in the underlying Hamiltonian structure (e.g. separatrices). It is shown that away from these singularities, a small perturbation from the integrable structure results in smooth near integrable behavior. Such a perturbation may occur from a small deformation or tilt of the wall which breaks the separability upon impact, the addition of a small regular perturbation to the system, or the combination of both. In some simple cases explicit formulae to the leading order term in the near integrable return map are derived. Near integrability is also shown to persist when the hard billiard boundary is replaced by a singular, smooth, steep potential, thus extending the near-integrability results beyond the scope of regular perturbations. These systems constitute an additional class of examples of near integrable impact systems, beyond the traditional one dimensional oscillating billiards, nearly elliptic billiards, and the near-integrable behavior near the boundary of convex smooth billiards with or without magnetic field.

Abstract:We studied piecewise smooth differential systems of the form $$\dot{z} = Z(z) = \dfrac{1 + \operatorname{sgn}(F)}{2}X(z) + \dfrac{1 - \operatorname{sgn}(F)}{2}Y(z),$$ where $F: \mathbb{R}^{n}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}$ is a smooth map having 0 as a regular value. We consider linear regularizations of the vector field $Z$ given by $$\dot{z}= Z_{\varepsilon}(z) = \dfrac{1 + \varphi(F/\varepsilon)}{2}X(z) +\dfrac{1 - \varphi(F /\varepsilon)}{2}Y(z),$$where $\varphi$ is a transition function (not necessarily monotonic) and nonlinear regularizations of the vector field $Z$ whose transition function is monotonic. It is a well-known fact that the regularized system is a slow-fast system. The main contribution of this paper is the study of typical singularities of slow-fast systems that arise from (linear or nonlinear) regularizations. We developed an algorithm to construct suitable transition functions, and we apply these ideas in order to create slow-fast singularities from normal forms of piecewise smooth vector fields. We present examples of transition functions that, after regularization of a PSVF normal form, generate normally hyperbolic, fold, transcritical, and pitchfork singularities.

A Birkhoff Normal Form Theorem for Partial Differential Equations on torus

Abstract:We prove an abstract Birkhoff normal form theorem for Hamiltonian partial differential equations on torus. The normal form is complete up to arbitrary finite order. The proof is based on a valid non-resonant condition and a suitable norm of Hamiltonian function. Then as two examples, we apply this theorem to nonlinear wave equation in one dimension and nonlinear Schrödinger equation in high dimension. Consequently, the polynomially long time stability is proved in Sobolev spaces $H^s$ with the index $s$ being much smaller than before. Further, by taking the iterative steps depending on the size of initial datum, we prove sub-exponentially long time stability for these two equations.

Integrable multi-Hamiltonian systems from reduction of an extended quasi-Poisson double of $\operatorname{U}(n)$

Abstract:We construct a master dynamical system on a $\operatorname{U}(n)$ quasi-Poisson manifold, $\mathcal{M}_d$, built from the double $\operatorname{U}(n) \times \operatorname{U}(n)$ and $d\geq 2$ open balls in $\mathbb{C}^n$, whose quasi-Poisson structures are obtained from $T^* \mathbb{R}^n$ by exponentiation. A pencil of quasi-Poisson bivectors $P_{\underline{z}}$ is defined on $\mathcal{M}_d$ that depends on $d(d-1)/2$ arbitrary real parameters and gives rise to pairwise compatible Poisson brackets on the $\operatorname{U}(n)$-invariant functions. The master system on $\mathcal{M}_d$ is a quasi-Poisson analogue of the degenerate integrable system of free motion on the extended cotangent bundle $T^*\!\operatorname{U}(n) \times \mathbb{C}^{n\times d}$. Its commuting Hamiltonians are pullbacks of the class functions on one of the $\operatorname{U}(n)$ factors. We prove that the master system descends to a degenerate integrable system on a dense open subset of the smooth component of the quotient space $\mathcal{M}_d/\operatorname{U}(n)$ associated with the principal orbit type. Any reduced Hamiltonian arising from a class function generates the same flow via any of the compatible Poisson structures stemming from the bivectors $P_{\underline{z}}$. The restrictions of the reduced system on minimal symplectic leaves parameterized by generic elements of the center of $\operatorname{U}(n)$ provide a new real form of the complex, trigonometric spin Ruijsenaars-Schneider model of Krichever and Zabrodin. This generalizes the derivation of the compactified trigonometric RS model found previously in the $d=1$ case.

Abstract:We present a project of classification of a certain class of bihamiltonian 1+1 PDEs depending on a small parameter. Our aim is to embed the theory of Gromov - Witten invariants of all genera into the theory of integrable systems. The project is focused at describing normal forms of the PDEs and their local bihamiltonian structures satisfying certain simple axioms. A Frobenius manifold or its degeneration is associated to every bihamiltonian structure of our type. The main result is a universal loop equation on the jet space of a semisimple Frobenius manifold that can be used for perturbative reconstruction of the integrable hierarchy. We show that first few terms of the perturbative expansion correctly reproduce the universal identities between intersection numbers of Gromov - Witten classes and their descendents.

Abstract:We prove that any bi-Hamiltonian system $v = \left(\mathcal{A} + \lambda \mathcal{B}\right)dH_{\lambda}$ on a real smooth manifold that is Hamiltonian with respect all Poisson brackets $\left(\mathcal{A} + \lambda \mathcal{B}\right)$ is locally bi-integrable. We construct a complete set of functions $\mathcal{G}$ in bi-involution by extending the set of standard integrals $\mathcal{F}$ consisting of Casimir functions of Poisson brackets, eigenvalues of the Poisson pencil, and the Hamiltonians. Moreover, we show that at a generic point of $M$ differentials of the extended family $d \mathcal{G}$ can realize any bi-Lagrangian subspace $L$ containing the differentials of the standard integrals $d \mathcal{F}$.
