We establish local well-posedness and global existence of solutions for these systems using classical potential theory and linear estimates for initial boundary value problems.

Abstract:The goal of this work is to establish the global existence of nonnegative classical solutions in all dimensions for a system of highly nonlinear reaction-diffusion equations. We address the case for different diffusion coefficients and the system of reversible reactions with non-homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. The systems are assumed to satisfy only the mass control condition and to have locally Lipschitz nonlinearities with arbitrary growth. The key aspect of this work is that we didn't assume that the diffusion coefficients are close to each other. We utilize the duality method and the regularization of the heat operator to derive the result. We also illustrate the global in time bounds for the solutions. The application includes concrete corrosion in sewer pipes or sulfate corrosion in sewer pipes.

Abstract:In this paper we deal with the initial boundary value problem for two classes of reaction diffusion systems with two source terms in bounded domain. Under some assumptions on the exponents and the initial data, applying the comparison principle, the maximum principle and the supersolution-subsolution method, we prove the global existence and blow up of solutions. We also establish some upper blow up rates.

Abstract:We prove existence and uniqueness of global solutions for a class of reaction-advection-anisotropic-diffusion systems whose reaction terms have a "triangular structure". We thus extend previous results to the case of time-space dependent anisotropic diffusions and with time-space dependent advection terms. The corresponding models are in particular relevant for transport processes inside porous media and in situations in which additional migration occurs. The proofs are based on optimal $L^p$-maximal regularity results for the general time-dependent linear operator dual to the one involved in the considered systems. As an application, we prove global well-posedness for a prototypical class of chemically reacting systems with mass-action kinetics, involving networks of reactions of the type $C_1+\ldots+C_{P-1} \rightleftharpoons C_{P} $. Finally, we analyze how a classical a priori $L^2$-estimate of the solutions, which holds with this kind of nonlinear reactive terms, extends to our general anisotropic-advection framework. It does extend with the same assumptions for isotropic diffusions and is replaced by an $L^{(N+1)/N}$-estimate in the general situation.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove global-in-time existence of strong solutions to a class of fractional parabolic reaction-diffusion systems posed in a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^N$. The nonlinear reactive terms are assumed to satisfy natural structure conditions which provide non-negativity of the solutions and uniform control of the total mass. The diffusion operators are of type $u_i\mapsto d_i(-\Delta)^s u_i$ where $0<s<1$. Global existence of strong solutions is proved under the assumption that the nonlinearities are at most of polynomial growth. Our results extend previous results obtained when the diffusion operators are of type $u_i\mapsto -d_i\Delta u_i$. On the other hand, we use numerical simulations to examine the global existence of solutions to systems with exponentially growing right-hand sides, which remains so far an open theoretical question even in the case $s=1$.

Abstract:Several problems, issued from physics, biology or the medical science, lead to parabolic equations set in two sub-domains separated by a membrane with selective permeability to specific molecules. The corresponding boundary conditions, describing the flow through the membrane, are compatible with mass conservation and energy dissipation, and are called the Kedem-Katchalsky conditions. Additionally, in these models, written as reaction-diffusion systems, the reaction terms have a quadratic behaviour. M. Pierre and his collaborators have developed a complete $L^1$ theory for reaction-diffusion systems with different diffusions. Here, we adapt this theory to the membrane boundary conditions and prove the existence of weak solutions when the initial data has only $L^1$ regularity using the truncation method for the nonlinearities. In particular, we establish several estimates as the $W^{1,1}$ regularity of the solutions. Also, a crucial step is to adapt the fundamental $L^2$ (space, time) integrability lemma to our situation.

Abstract:In this article we study a chemical reaction-diffusion system with $m$ unknown concentration. The non-linearity in our study comes from a particular chemical reaction where one unit of a particular species generated from other $m-1$ species and disintegrates to generate all those $m-1$ species in the same manner, i.e., triangular in nature. Our objective is to find whether global in time solution exists for this system where one or more species stops diffusing. In particular weak global in time solution exists for all the degenerate cases in any dimension. We are further able to show classical global in time solution exists for all the degenerate cases in any dimension except one and this particular case too attain classical global in time solution up to dimension $2$. We also analyze global in time existence result for the case of quadratic non-linear rate functions and also analyze a three dimensional case.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the initial boundary value problem for a class of reaction-diffusion systems with generalized coupled source terms. The assumption on the coupled source terms refers to the single equations and includes many kinds of polynomial growth cases. Under this assumption, the reaction-diffusion systems have a variational structure, which is the foundation of constructing the potential wells to classify the initial data. In subcritical energy level and critical energy level, which are divided from potential well theory, the global existence solution, blow-up in finite time solution, and asymptotic behavior of solution are obtained, respectively. Furthermore, we show the sufficient conditions of global well posedness with supercritical energy level by combining with comparison principle and semigroup theory.

To do this we use a continuation method which leads to further insight into the system. In particular, the transition occurs through a singular perturbation which seems new in this context, connecting the system with a Wentzell type boundary value problem.

Abstract:This paper deals with a reaction-diffusion system with nonlocal sources. Under appropriate hypotheses, we obtain that the solution either exists globally or blows up in finite time by making use of super and sub solution techniques. In the situation when the solution blows up in finite time, we show that the blow-up set is the whole domain, which is quite different from the results with local sources. Furthermore, we obtain the blow-up rate of the solution.

Abstract:Reaction cross diffusion systems are a two species generalization of the porous media equation. These systems play an important role in the mechanical modeling of living tissues and tumor growth. Due to their mixed parabolic-hyperbolic structure, even proving the existence of solutions to these equations is challenging. In this paper, we exploit the parabolic structure of the system to prove the strong compactness of the pressure gradient in L2. The key ingredient is the energy dissipation relation, which along with some compensated compactness arguments, allows us to upgrade weak convergence to strong convergence. As a consequence of the pressure compactness, we are able to prove the existence of solutions in a very general setting and pass to the Hele-Shaw/incompressible limit in any dimension.
