Abstract:Based on the investigation of outdoor landscape plants in general hospitals of Hangzhou,from six aspects such as the plant species,plant frequency applications,ratio of arbor and shrub,ratio of evergreen and deciduous,application of plant color,as well as the lawn areas,explored the landscape plant status of general hospitals in Hangzhou.Moreover,according to the survey data analysis,some suggestions about the future landscape plants design in general hospitals were also discussed.

Abstract:Based on the introduction of the concept of submerged plants, the researches of applied status and ecological function of submerged plants in landscape use are summarized. The paper also discusses the design, planting, maintenance and the control of submerged plants for landscape use, by giving the example of the landscape water body creation in the west line of West Lake in Hangzhou. The application value and existed problems of submerged plants used in China are indicated as well.
Perennials Selection and Planting Design for Flower Borders in City Landscape of Hangzhou, China

Abstract:Flower borders originated from the West were introduced to China in the 70's. These have been widely recognized and used in city landscape of Hangzhou in recent years. Based on the definition of flower border, the difference in concepts between flower border and bedding plants are discussed. It simulates natural landscapes of various kinds of flowering perennials by artistic design, which made the landscaping more pleasant and showed difference between the traditional bedding style. Flower borders for ten scenic spots in Hangzhou City have been investigated. The selection of ornamental perennials and their landscape use were studied. The results showed that 89 species of perennials are used typically in spring flower borders. The list of 40 commonly used perennials is shown in detail both for characteristics and growth behavior in Hangzhou city. Concerned about the investigation and analysis, 10 kinds of newly introduced perennials were recommended for further utilization. The iconography and comments of three spots were coordinated with the landscape design, so as to achieve the main principles for planting design of flower border. The valuable significance, prospective future, and the existing problems of the perennials utilizations in modern landscape were also discussed.

Abstract:The site of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society is a typical upland garden in the West Lake Scenic Area. It was praised as "the crown garden on the West Lake" by Mr. Chen Congzhou for its unique surroundings, appropriate layout, wonderful spatial organization and deep artistic conception. This paper attempts to conduct a systematic study on the spatial organization of the site of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society, by combing its spatial composition relationship, analyzing its spatial layout, exploring its spatial sequence, and explaining the spatial structure for landscape spots as well. The analysis showed the marvellous skills for spatial organization of classical upland gardens, which provides a reference for space design of modern upland or mountain gardens.

Abstract:Based on the literature and comparative analysis,the history and development of the patio garden styles in western countries were summarized.Typical gardens were including in the Old Testament,antiquity,middle ages,the Renaissance,as well as in the modern time.Oriental gardens were presented by cased by the Chinese and Japanese for realization of garden history.Traditional landscape architecture in garden designs showed plentiful and exquisite.It is necessary for mastering the historical characteristics and traditional garden culture,and also benefit to the further researches of the modern gardens.

Abstract:Being abundant species with wide compatibility, low maintenance, easy planting and unique ornamental characters, ornamental grasses are acquiring wider application in landscape. Based on investigation of urban green space in Hangzhou city, the results showed that there were about 52 species of ornamental grasses being used. According to the principles of landscape ecology and use characteristics in different height of ornamental grasses, the ornamental grasses application types of urban green space in Hangzhou are analyzed. Finally, suggestions on some application problems and the potential uses of ornamental grasses are put forward in this paper, providing references for further uses of ornamental grasses.

Analysis of Pant Landscape Investigation and Creation in Hangzhou City in Winter

Abstract:The winter plant landscape was evaluated with questionnaire and site investigation in winter.The investigation result showed only 11.7% respondents agreed that winter plant arrangement was well done.They believed the current problems were mainly focusing on the few species and numbers of winter-flowering plants,poor color layers,absent open area for a quiet rest and deficient tree species with ornamental trunks and fruits.The application status of winter ornamental plants in Hangzhou were investigated and the results showed there were 42(22 ornamental flowers,10 ornamental fruits,9 ornamental trunks,1 ornamental bud) ornamental species in Hangzhou.Mains problems were deficient in plant species application of new plant resources and local plants.Consequently,increasing different selections of ornamental plants' color and species and create rational resting space,was an effective way to escalate winter plant landscape in Hangzhou's gardens.

Abstract:Based on the definition of flower borders, the assortment was analyzed by considering various points of view, such as biological characteristics of plants,applied form for landscape use, flowering seasons and so on. It is put forwarded that the planting design of flower border should be choosing the proper plants which matched the local climate, and indicating the main scenic styles, as well as showing the continuous scenery with lower maintaining.

Abstract:To improve the plant landscape in residential areas and satisfy higher demands of ecological life,a scientific and reasonable landscape evaluation had been explored to evaluate plant landscape in 15 residential areas in Hangzhou.AHP evaluation model as a synthetical assessment on three functions is used and established,which includes seasonal visual quality,phytocoenosium landscape feature and service functions.The study is mainly based on surveys,which provides objective statistics to improve the accuracy of the evaluation construction and result.The final result demonstrates that people comparatively paid more attention to phytocoenosium landscape feature than other two functions.Besides,this paper analyzes the cause of some present landscape problems like lacking seasonal characteristics and satisfactory service functions.
