Abstract:Previous studies have proven the efficiency of LID practices in mitigating surface runoff in urban watersheds; however, the impact of their placement strategy over the urban drainage system, under continuous temporal hydrological simulation, has not been explored yet. This study simulated, under continuous time scale, five LID practices and four LID placement strategies (downstream, center, upstream and uniformly) on the drainage system of the Universidade Federal de Lavras urban area, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Under the conditions analyzed, it was found that there were no significant statistical differences between the efficiency of the different LID practices, individually or combined, within the same placement strategy. The uniform placement strategy proved to be more efficient, but in soils with higher K sat values, other strategies showed better results. Therefore, it was found that soil K sat is a parameter that should be carefully analyzed for LID practices implementation.
