Abstract:Cargo monitoring and tracking has long been a top focus in the logistics sector. Earlier, cargo monitoring was done manually using paper-based systems, which were time-consuming and prone to errors. As the industry evolved, technology-based solutions were introduced, such Bar codes and RFID tags. However, these solutions had limitations and were not always effective in providing real-time visibility into the location and condition of cargo. Cargo monitoring and tracking based on the Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a critical solution to enhance supply chain management by providing real-time visibility into the location, status and condition of goods during transportation. With the use of this technology, operational effectiveness may be increased, expenses could be decreased, and customer satisfaction could rise. In this project, we propose a system that utilizes IoT-based sensors to monitor and track cargo throughout the supply chain.Our system comprises a network of IoT-enabled devices that can be integrated into cargo containers, vehicles, and warehouses to collect and transmit real-time data about the location, temperature, humidity, light, and shock of the cargo. The system also includes a user-friendly dashboard that provides stakeholders with a visual representation of the cargo's journey, enabling them to make informed decisions and respond to any issues that may arise. The system is also scalable and cost-effective, making it a viable solution for small to medium-sized enterprises. In conclusion, our project demonstrates the potential of IoT-based cargo monitoring and tracking systems to revolutionize supply chain management by providing real-time visibility into the location, status and condition of goods.
