Abstract:In this paper we establish three basic equations for a general soliton structure on the Riemannian manifold $(M, <, >)$. We then draw some geometric conclusions with the aid of the maximum principle.

Abstract:This paper investigates Ricci solitons on Riemannian hypersurfaces in both Riemannian and Lorentzian manifolds. We provide conditions under which a Riemannian hypersurface, exhibiting specific properties related to a closed conformal vector field of the ambiant manifold, forms a Ricci soliton structure. The characterization involves a delicate balance between geometric quantities and the behavior of the conformal vector field, particularly its tangential component. We extend the analysis to ambient manifolds with constant sectional curvature and establish that, under a simple condition, the hypersurface becomes totally umbilical, implying constant mean curvature and sectional curvature. For compact hypersurfaces, we further characterize the nature of the Ricci soliton.

Abstract:We prove the existence of a one-parameter family of pairwise non-isometric, complete, positively curved, steady generalized Ricci solitons of gradient type on $\mathbb{R}^3$ that are invariant under the natural cohomogeneity one action of SO(3). In the context of generalized Ricci flow, this result represents the analogue of Bryant's construction of the complete rotationally invariant steady soliton for the Ricci flow.

Abstract:We study some properties of a $3$-dimensional manifold with a diagonal Riemannian metric as an almost $\eta$-Ricci soliton from the following points of view: under certain assumptions, we determine the potential vector field if $\eta$ is given; we get constraints on the metric when the potential vector field has a particular expression; we compute the defining functions of the soliton when both the potential vector field and the $1$-form are prescribed. Moreover, we find conditions for the manifold to be flat. Based on the theoretical results, we provide examples.

Abstract:In this paper we prove that any complete conformal gradient soliton with nonnegative Ricci tensor is either isometric to a direct product $\mathbb{R}\times N^{n-1}$, or globally conformally equivalent to the Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ or to the round sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n}$. In particular, we show that any complete, noncompact, gradient Yamabe-type soliton with positive Ricci tensor is rotationally symmetric, whenever the potential function is nonconstant.

Abstract:In the paper, we study complete almost Ricci solitons using the concepts and methods of geometric dynamics and geometric analysis. In particular, we characterize Einstein manifolds in the class of complete almost Ricci solitons. Then, we examine compact almost Ricci solitons using the orthogonal expansion of the Ricci tensor, this allows us to substantiate the concept of almost Ricci solitons.

Abstract:We provide some properties of Riemann solitons with torse-forming potential vector fields, pointing out their relation to Ricci solitons. We also study those Riemann soliton submanifolds isometrically immersed into a Riemannian manifold endowed with a torse-forming vector field, having as potential vector field its tangential component. We consider the minimal and the totally geodesic cases, too, as well as when the ambient manifold is of constant sectional curvature. In particular, we prove that a totally geodesic submanifold isometrically immersed into a Riemannian manifold endowed with a concircular vector field is a Riemann soliton if and only if it is of constant curvature. Furthermore, we show that, if the potential vector field of a minimal hypersurface Riemann soliton isometrically immersed into a Riemannian manifold of constant curvature and endowed with a concircular vector field is of constant length, then it is a metallic shaped hypersurface.

Some rigidity results on shrinking gradient Ricci soliton

Abstract:Suppose $(M^n, g, f)$ is a complete shrinking gradient Ricci soliton. We give several rigidity results under some natural conditions, generalizing the results in \cite{Petersen-Wylie,Guan-Lu-Xu}. Using maximum principle, we prove that shrinking gradient Ricci soliton with constant scalar curvature $R=1$ is isometric to a finite quotient of $\mathbb{R}^2\times \mathbb{S}^2$, giving a new proof of the main results of Cheng-Zhou \cite{Cheng-Zhou}.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Riemannian maps whose base manifolds admit a Ricci soliton and give a non-trivial example of such a Riemannian map. First, we find Riemannian curvature tensor for the base manifolds of Riemannian map $F$. Further, we obtain the Ricci tensor and calculate the scalar curvature of the base manifold. Moreover, we obtain necessary conditions for the leaves of $rangeF_\ast$ to be Ricci soliton, almost Ricci soliton, and Einstein. We also obtain necessary conditions for the leaves of $(rangeF_\ast)^\bot$ to be Ricci soliton and Einstein. Also, we calculate the scalar curvatures of $rangeF_\ast$ and $(rangeF_\ast)^\bot$ by using Ricci soliton. Finally, we study the harmonicity and biharmonicity of such a Riemannian map. We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for such a Riemannian map between Riemannian manifolds to be harmonic. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for a Riemannian map from a Riemannian manifold to a space form that admits Ricci soliton to be harmonic and biharmonic.

Cohomogeneity two Ricci solitons with sub-Euclidean volume

Abstract:We introduce new families of four-dimensional Ricci solitons of cohomogeneity two with volume collapsing ends. In a local presentation of the metric conformal to a product, we reduce the soliton equation to a degenerate Monge-Ampère equation for the conformal factor coupled with ODEs. We obtain explicit complete expanding solitons as well as abstract existence results for shrinking and steady solitons with boundary. These families of Ricci solitons specialize to classical examples of Einstein and soliton metrics.

Abstract:Any homogeneous expanding Ricci soliton is known to be isometric to a Lie subgroup of the solvable part of the Iwasawa decomposition associated with a symmetric space of non-compact type, with the metric induced as a submanifold. In this paper, we classify and analyze the geometry of such Lie subgroups with Ricci soliton induced metric when the symmetric spaces are complex hyperbolic spaces.

Abstract:The second author and H. Yin have developed a Ricci flow existence theory that gives a complete Ricci flow starting with a surface equipped with a conformal structure and a nonatomic Radon measure as a conformal factor. This led to the discovery of a large array of new expanding Ricci solitons. In this paper we use the recent uniqueness theory in this context, also developed by the second author and H. Yin, to give a complete classification of all expanding Ricci solitons on surfaces. Along the way, we prove a converse to the existence theory that is not constrained to solitons: every complete Ricci flow on a surface over a time interval $(0,\varepsilon)$ admits a $t\downarrow 0$ limit within the class of admissible initial data. This makes surfaces the first nontrivial setting for Ricci flow in which a bijection can be given between the entire set of complete Ricci flows over maximal time intervals $(0,T)$, and a class of initial data that induces them.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to investigate complete noncompact warped product gradient Ricci solitons. Nonexistence results, estimates for the warping function and for its gradient are proven. When the soliton is steady or expanding these nonexistence results generalize to a broader context certain estimates and rigidity obtained when studying warped product Einstein manifolds. When the soliton is shrinking, it is presented as a nonexistence theorem with no counterpart in the Einstein case, which is proved using properties of the first eigenvalue of a weighted Laplacian.

Abstract:In this paper we study gradient steady Kähler-Ricci soliton metrics on non-compact toric manifolds. We show that the orbit space of the free locus of such a manifold carries a natural Hessian structure with a nonnegative Bakry-Émery tensor. We generalize Calabi's classical rigidity result and use this to prove that any complete -invariant gradient steady Kähler-Ricci soliton with a free torus action must be a flat .

Abstract:In the present paper we study $\eta$-Ricci solitons on Kenmotsu 3-manifolds. Moreover, we consider $\eta$-Ricci solitons on Kenmotsu 3-manifolds with Codazzi type of Ricci tensor and cyclic parallel Ricci tensor. Beside these, we study $\phi$-Ricci symmetric $\eta$-Ricci soliton on Kenmotsu 3-manifolds. Also Kenmotsu 3-manifolds satisfying the curvature condition $R.R=Q(S,R)$ is considered. Finally, an example is constructed to prove the existence of a proper $\eta$-Ricci soliton on a Kenmotsu 3-manifold.

On the shrinking solitons of generalized Ricci flow

Abstract:We show that every gradient shrinking soliton of the generalized Ricci flow on compact manifold is a Ricci soliton. And we prove that the pluriclosed soliton is gradient Kahler-Ricci soliton under a broad cohomological condition. Moreover, we construct the first example of non-trivial shrinking generalized soliton, which can serve as a singularity model of the generalized Ricci flow.

Abstract:We consider the existence of cohomogeneity one solitons for the isometric flow of -structures on the following classes of torsion-free -manifolds: the Euclidean with its standard -structure, metric cylinders over Calabi–Yau 3-folds, metric cones over nearly Kähler 6-manifolds, and the Bryant–Salamon -manifolds. In all cases we establish existence of global solutions to the isometric soliton equations, and determine the asymptotic behaviour of the torsion. In particular, existence of shrinking isometric solitons on is proved, giving support to the likely existence of type I singularities for the isometric flow. In each case, the study of the soliton equation reduces to a particular nonlinear ODE with a regular singular point, for which we provide a careful analysis. Finally, to simplify the derivation of the relevant equations in each case, we first establish several useful Riemannian geometric formulas for a general class of cohomogeneity one metrics on total spaces of vector bundles which should have much wider application, as such metrics arise often as explicit examples of special holonomy metrics.

Abstract:We construct gradient Kähler-Ricci solitons on Ricci-flat Kähler conemanifolds and on line bundles over toric Fano manifolds. Certain shrinking andexpanding solitons are pasted together to form eternal solutions of the Ricciflow. The method we employ is the Calabi ansatz over Sasaki-Einstein manifolds,and the results generalize constructions of Cao and Feldman-Ilmanen-Knopf.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a rigidity theorem for a complete non-compact expanding (or steady) Ricci soliton with nonnegative Ricci curvature and certain scalar curvature decay condition. As an application, we prove that any complete non-compact expanding (or steady) Kähler-Ricci solitons with positively pinched Ricci curvature should be Ricci flat. The result answers a question proposed by Chow, Lu and Ni in case of Kähler-Ricci solitons.
