Abstract:A conjecture concerning some pairs of interfering estimates for some integrals is formulated in three equivalent versions. Its importance for the the Paley problem for plurisubharmonic functions and for certain classes of extremal problems for entire functions of several variables is declared.

Abstract:In this paper we consider a singular integral operator and a parametric Marcinkiewicz integral operator with rough kernel. These operators have singularity along sets of the form curves $\{x=P(\varphi (|y|))y'\}$, where P is a real polynomial satisfying $P(0)=0$ and φ satisfies certain smooth conditions. Under the conditions that $\varOmega \in H^{1} (\mathbf{S}^{n-1})$ and $h\in \Delta _{\gamma }(\mathbf{R}_{+})$ for some $\gamma >1$, we prove that the above operators are bounded on the Lebesgue space $L^{2}( \mathbf{R}^{n})$. Moreover, the $L^{2}$-bounds of the maximal functions related to the above integrals are also established. Particularly, the bounds are independent of the coefficients of the polynomial P. In addition, we also present certain Hardy type inequalities related to these operators.

Abstract:We locate Musial and Sagher's concept of -integration within the approximate Henstock–Kurzweil integral theory. If we restrict the -integral by the requirement that the indefinite -integral is continuous, then it becomes included in the classical Denjoy–Khintchine integral. We provide a direct argument demonstrating that this inclusion is proper.

Abstract:Sumset estimates, which provide bounds on the cardinality of sumsets of finite sets in a group, form an essential part of the toolkit of additive combinatorics. In recent years, probabilistic or entropic analogs of many of these inequalities were introduced. We study analogues of these sumset estimates in the context of convex geometry and Lebesgue measure on ${\mathbb R}^n$. First, we observe that, with respect to Minkowski summation, volume is supermodular to arbitrary order on the space of convex bodies. Second, we explore sharp constants in the convex geometry analogues of variants of the Pl\"unnecke-Ruzsa inequalities. In the last section of the paper, we provide connections of these inequalities to the classical Rogers-Shephard inequality.

Abstract:Sun, in 2022, introduced a conjectured evaluation for a series of convergence rate $\frac{1}{2}$ involving harmonic numbers. We prove both this conjecture and a stronger version of this conjecture, using a summation technique based on a beta-type integral we had previously introduced. Our full proof also requires applications of Bailey's ${}_{2}F_{1}\left( \frac{1}{2} \right)$-formula, Dixon's ${}_{3}F_{2}(1)$-formula, an almost-poised version of Dixon's formula due to Chu, Watson's formula for ${}_{3}F_{2}(1)$-series, the Gauss summation theorem, Euler's formula for ${}_{2}F_{1}$-series, elliptic integral singular values, and lemniscate-like constants recently introduced by Campbell and Chu. The techniques involved in our proof are useful, more broadly, in the reduction of difficult sums of convergence rate $\frac{1}{2}$ to previously evaluable expressions.

Functional Brunn-Minkowski Inequalities Induced by Polarity

Abstract:We prove a new family of inequalities, which compare the integral of a geometric convolution of non-negative functions with the integrals of the original functions. For classical inf-convolution, this type of inequality is called the Prékopa-Leindler inequality, which, restricted to indicators of convex bodies, gives the classical Brunn-Minkowski inequality. The convolution we consider is a different one, which arises from the study of the polarity transform for functions. While inf-convolution arises as the pull back of usual addition of convex functions under the Legendre transform, our geometric inf-convolution arises as the pull back of the second order reversing transform on geometric convex functions (called either polarity transform or $A$-transform). These are, up to linear terms, the only order reversing isomorphisms on the class of geometric convex functions. We prove that the integral of this new geometric convolution of two functions is bounded from below by the harmonic average of the individual integrals. Our inequality implies the Brunn-Minkowski inequality, as well as some other, new, inequalities for volumes of bodies. Our inequalities are intimately connected with Busemann's convexity theorem, a new variant of which we prove for 1-convex hulls and log-concave densities.

A Conjecture on Hodge Integrals

Abstract:We propose a conjectural formula expressing the generating series of some Hodge integrals in terms of representation theory of Kac-Moody algebras. Such generating series appear in calculations of Gromov-Witten invariants by localization techniques. It generalizes a formula conjectured by Mari\~no and Vafa, recently proved in joint work with Chiu-Chu Melissa Liu and Kefeng Liu. Some examples are presented.

Abstract:We establish a correspondence between inverse sumset theorems (which can be viewed as classifications of approximate (abelian) groups) and inverse theorems for the Gowers norms (which can be viewed as classifications of approximate polynomials). In particular, we show that the inverse sumset theorems of Freiman type are equivalent to the known inverse results for the Gowers U^3 norms, and moreover that the conjectured polynomial strengthening of the former is also equivalent to the polynomial strengthening of the latter. We establish this equivalence in two model settings, namely that of the finite field vector spaces F_2^n, and of the cyclic groups Z/NZ. In both cases the argument involves clarifying the structure of certain types of approximate homomorphism.

Abstract:A method for proving symmetrization inequalities for some elliptic p.d.e.'s on manifolds equipped with appropriate isoperimetric inequalities is outlined. The method is based on a modification of an approach of Baernstein. The question of what is the most general result that can be proved in this way is still open, and the author can be consulted if the reader is interested in this question.

Abstract:In 2007, Á. Baricz put forward a conjecture concerning Turán-type inequalities for Gaussian hypergeometric functions (see Conjecture \ref{ConjA} in Section \ref{Sec1}). In this paper, the authors disprove this conjecture with several methods, and present Turán-type double inequalities for Gaussian hypergeometric functions, and sharp bounds for complete and generalized elliptic integrals of the first kind.

Abstract:The GLY conjecture has many applications in number theory and complex geometry. It gives a sharp upper estimate that counts the number of positive integral points in n dimensional (n >= 3) real right-angled simplices with vertices whose distance to the origin are at least n - 1. The estimate was proven for n <= 6 but has a counterexample for n = 7. In this project we come up with an idea of forming a new sharp estimate conjecture different from [26] where the distances of the vertices are at least n - 1. The counterexample for the GLY conjecture no longer gives a counterexample for the new sharp estimate conjecture. We have proved the new sharp estimate conjecture for n <= 7. This paper gives hope to prove the new conjecture in general.

Abstract:We give an alternative, simple method to prove isoperimetric inequalities over the hypercube. In particular, we show: 1. An elementary proof of classical isoperimetric inequalities of Talagrand, as well as a stronger isoperimetric result conjectured by Talagrand and recently proved by Eldan and Gross. 2. A strengthening of the Friedgut junta theorem, asserting that if the $p$-moment of the sensitivity of a function is constant for some $1/2 + \varepsilon\leq p\leq 1$, then the function is close to a junta. In this language, Friedgut's theorem is the special case that $p=1$.

On a partial sum related to the Euler totient function

Abstract:Recently, Bordell\'{e}s, Dai, Heyman, Pan and Shparlinski in \cite{Igor} considered a partial sum involving the Euler totient function and the integer parts $\lfloor x/n\rfloor$ function. Among other things, they obtained reasonably tight upper and lower bounds for their sum using the theory of exponent pairs and in particular, using a recently discovered Bourgain's exponent pair. Based on numerical evidences, they also pose a question on the asymptotic behaviour for their sum which we state here as a conjecture. The aim of this paper is to prove an asymptotic formula for the average of their sum in the interval $[1,x]$. We show via Perron's formula that this average is a certain weighted analogue of the sum that Bordell\'{e}s \textit{et al} considered in their paper. Further, we show that their conjecture is true under certain conditions. Our proof involves Perron's contour integral method besides some analytic estimates of the Riemann zeta function $\zeta(s)$ in the zero-free region.

Abstract:Given a half-integral weight holomorphic Kohnen newform f on \Gamma_{0}(4) , we prove an asymptotic formula for large primes p with power saving error term for \sum_{\chi \pmod{p}}^{\qquad{}{}_{\scriptsize{*}}}| L(1/2,f,\chi) |^{2}. Our result is unconditional, it does not rely on the Ramanujan–Petersson conjecture for the form f . This gives a very sharp Lindelöf-on-average result for Dirichlet series attached to Hecke eigenforms without an Euler product. The Lindelöf hypothesis for such series was originally conjectured by Hoffstein. There are two main inputs. The first is a careful spectral analysis of a highly unbalanced shifted convolution problem involving the Fourier coefficients of half-integral weight forms. The second input is a bound for sums of products of Salié sums in the Pólya–Vinogradov range. Half-integrality is fully exploited to establish such an estimate. We use the closed form evaluation of the Salié sum to relate our problem to the sequence \alpha n^{2} \pmod{1} . Our treatment of this sequence is inspired by work of Rudnick–Sarnak and the second author on the local spacings of \alpha n^{2} modulo 1.

On the volume of sums of anti-blocking bodies

Abstract:We study inequalities on the volume of Minkowski sum in the class of anti-blocking bodies. We prove analogues of Plünnecke-Ruzsa type inequality and V. Milman inequality on the concavity of the ratio of volumes of bodies and their projections. We also study Firey $L_p-$sums of anti-blocking bodies and prove Plünnecke-Ruzsa type inequality; V. Milman inequality and Roger-Shephard inequality. The sharp constants are provided in all of those inequalities, for the class of anti-blocking bodies. Finally, we extend our results to the case of unconditional product measures with decreasing density.

Abstract:The Berezin-Lieb inequalities provide upper and lower bounds for a partition function based on phase space integrals that involve the Glauber-Sudarshan and Husimi representations, respectively. Generalizations of these representations have recently been introduced by the present authors, and in this article, we extend the use of these new representations to develop numerous analogs of the Berezin-Lieb inequalities that may offer improved bounds. Several examples illustrate the use of the new inequalities. Although motivated by problems in quantum mechanics, these results may also find applications in time-frequency analysis, a valuable cross fertilization that has been profitably used at various times in the past.

On approximation of hypersingular integral operators by bounded ones

Abstract:We solve the Stechkin problem about approximation of generally speaking unbounded hypersingular integral operators by bounded ones. As a part of the proof, we also solve several related and interesting on their own problems. In particular, we obtain sharp Landau-Kolmogorov type inequalities in both additive and multiplicative forms for hypersingular integral operators and prove a sharp Ostrowski type inequality for multivatiate Sobolev classes. We also give some applications of the obtained results, in particular study the modulus of continuity of the hypersingular integral operators, and solve the problem of optimal recovery of the value of a hypersingular integral operator based on the argument known with an error.
