Abstract:For the linear process [image omitted], where {ai; i epsilon 0} is an absolutely summable sequence of real numbers, and {epsilon i; - i } is a doubly infinite sequence of symmetrically exchangeable random variables with zero means and finite variances, some limit theorems, including the central limit theorem, complete convergence and the law of iterated logarithm, are obtained for the partial sums of the linear processes.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of the realized power variation for time-changed α-stable Levy processes.The authors prove a law of large numbers,which is the uniform convergence in probability of the realized power variation after normalization.The authors also exhibit the central limit theorems of the realized power variation in all the orders except α/2.

Abstract:We establish moduli of continuity and large increment properties for stationary increment Gaussian processes in order to study the path behavior of infinite series of independent Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes. The existence and continuity of the latter infinite series type Gaussian processes are proved via showing that under a global condition their partial sum processes converge uniformly over finite intervals with probability one.

Abstract:In this paper, we develop theory and tools for studying U -processes, a natural higher-order generalization of the empirical processes. We introduce a class of random discrete U -measures that generalize the empirical U -measure. We establish a Glivenko-Cantelli and a Donsker theorem under conditions on entropy numbers prevalent in the theory of empirical processes. These results are proved under some standard structural conditions on the Vapnik-Chervonenkis classes of functions and some mild conditions on the model. The uniform limit theorems discussed in this paper are key tools for many further developments involving empirical process techniques. Our results are applied to prove the asymptotic normality of Liu's simplicial median. We conclude this paper by extending Anscombe's central limit theorem to encompass randomly stopped U-processes, building upon its application to randomly stopped sums of independent random variables.

Abstract:An application of Levy's continuity theorem and Hankel transform allow us to establish a law limit theorem for the sequence $V_n=f(U)\sin(n U)$, where $U$ is uniformly distributed in $(0,1)$ and $f$ a given function. Further, we investigate the inverse problem by specifying a limit distribution and look for the suitable function $f$ ensuring the convergence in law to the specified distribution. Our work recovers and extends existing similar works, in particular we make it possible to sample from known laws including Gaussian and Cauchy distributions.

Abstract:Let $X=\{X_n: n\in\mathbb{N}\}$ be a linear process in which the coefficients are of the form $a_i=i^{-1}\ell(i)$ with $\ell$ being a slowly varying function at the infinity and the innovations are independent and identically distributed random variables belonging to the domain of attraction of an $\alpha$-stable law with $\alpha\in (1, 2]$. We will establish the asymptotic behavior of the partial sum process \[ \bigg\{\sum\limits_{n=1}^{[Nt]} X_n: t\geq 0\bigg\} \] as $N$ tends to infinity, where $[t]$ is the integer part of the non-negative number $t$.

Abstract:In this paper we show that the random degree constrained process (a time-evolving random graph model with degree constraints) has a local weak limit, provided that the underlying host graphs are high degree almost regular. We, moreover, identify the limit object as a multi-type branching process, by combining coupling arguments with the analysis of a certain recursive tree process. Using a spectral characterization, we also give an asymptotic expansion of the critical time when the giant component emerges in the so-called random $d$-process, resolving a problem of Warnke and Wormald for large $d$.

Abstract:In this paper, by establishing a Borel–Cantelli lemma for a capacity which is not necessarily continuous, and a link between a sequence of independent random variables under the sub-linear expectation and a sequence of independent random variables on ℝ∞ under a probability, we give the sufficient and necessary conditions of the strong law of large numbers for independent and identically distributed random variables under the sub-linear expectation, and the sufficient and necessary conditions for the convergence of an infinite series of independent random variables, without the assumption on the continuity of the capacities. A purely probabilistic proof of a weak law of large numbers is also given.

Abstract:We establish that Laplace transforms of the posterior Dirichlet process converge to those of the limiting Brownian bridge process in a neighbourhood about zero, uniformly over Glivenko-Cantelli function classes. For real-valued random variables and functions of bounded variation, we strengthen this result to hold for all real numbers. This last result is proved via an explicit strong approximation coupling inequality.

Abstract:We prove a functional limit theorem for Markov chains that, in each step, move up or down by a possibly state dependent constant with probability $1/2$, respectively. The theorem entails that the law of every one-dimensional regular continuous strong Markov process in natural scale can be approximated with such Markov chains arbitrarily well. The functional limit theorem applies, in particular, to Markov processes that cannot be characterized as solutions to stochastic differential equations. Our results allow to practically approximate such processes with irregular behavior; we illustrate this with Markov processes exhibiting sticky features, e.g., sticky Brownian motion and a Brownian motion slowed down on the Cantor set.

Abstract:In this paper we establish some conditional limit theorems for some critical superprocesses X={X_t, t≥ 0}. First we identify the rate of non-extinction. Then we show that, for a large class of functions f, conditioned on non-extinction at time t, the limit, as t→∞, of t^-1⟨ f, X_t⟩ exists in distribution and we identify this limit. Finally, we also establish, under some conditions, a central limit theorem for ⟨ f, X_t⟩ conditioned on non-extinction at time t.

Abstract:The paper deals with the asymptotic properties of a random jump process in a high contrast periodic medium in $\mathbb R^d$, $d\geq 1$. We show that if the coordinates of the random jump process in $\mathbb R^d$ are equipped with an extra variable that characterizes the position of the process inside the period, then the limit dynamics of this two-component process is Markov. We describe the limit process and prove the convergence in law in the path space. We show that the components of the limit process are coupled and derive the evolution equation with a memory term for the spatial component of the process. We also discuss the construction of the limit process in the $L^2$ space and study the spectrum of the generator of the limit semigroup.
