Abstract:The primary objective of this article is to investigate the impact of Roy's mechanism of lactobacillus on silkworm growth. The selected strain of Lactobacillus reuteri FLRE589, was employed in the experiment. L. reuteri FLRE589 was applied to the surface of mulberry leaves, after which the silkworm was fed and its total RNA was extracted. RNA sequencing was conducted to determine the transcriptome of the silkworms. The body weight, silk cocoon weight, pupal weight, and cocoon shell weight of the two groups of silkworms were recorded. The results of the study demonstrated that following the administration of FLRE589, there was an increase in weight, with statistically higher values observed for silk cocoon weight, pupal weight, and cocoon shell weight compared to the control group. Transcriptome sequencing revealed that 231 genes were upregulated and 188 genes were downregulated in silkworms fed L. reuteri FLRE589. These changes affected the growth and metabolic processes of the silkworms. It is possible that L.reuteri FLRE589 activates the MAPK(mitogen-activated protein kinase,MAPK) and PI3K (Phosphatidylinositide 3-kinases,PI3K)signalling pathways, enhances the SGF1 expression signalling pathway, enhances the expression of SGF1, and promotes the increase of silk protein gene expression. The ecdysone content was quantified in hemolymph and was found to be significantly elevated in the treated silkworms. The application of L. reuteri FLRE589 has been demonstrated to effectively enhance the growth, with the potential to increase silk yield. Although some positive results have been achieved, further studies on the specific mechanisms of L. reuteri FLRE589 in silkworm feeding are necessary to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the practical applications of this approach.
