Abstract:Thirty years ago,the invention and volume shipment of IBM PC significantly enlarged the user population of computing.For the next thirty years,what is the most fundamental challenge of the computing field? What paradigm shift is needed? What is the most significant industrial problem? What are the most needed scientific breakthroughs? This article addresses these questions by discussing a dozen essential issues of computing for the masses.The most fundamental challenge is the computing market's growth stagnation.Computing for the masses is proposed to reverse this trend and should be a fundamental future direction.It has three features of value-augmenting,affordability,and sustainability.The most basic paradigm shift is human-cyber-physical ternary computing.The most significant industrial problem is the Insecta Classis paradox.Computing for the masses needs five pillars of science support,including ternary computing science,universal compute account,efficient sea-network-cloud computing platforms,information ecosystem science,and national information accounts.This article helps outline the problem space for future computer science research,with a discussion on related transformative research projects.

Abstract:The present study explored the influence of the computer as a media on the relationship among users in the experimental setting.By examining the subjects' self-reports and analyzing the discussion-content,we searched for the possible reasons for the contradiction of theories in this field.With the extent of anonymity growing,we found more social attraction for the partner, more task-oriented language and less relation-oriented language they used.

Abstract:Computers have a direct impact on our lives nowadays. Human's interaction with the computer has modified with the passage of time as improvement in technology occurred the better the human computer interaction became. Today we are facilitated by the operating system that has reduced all the complexity of hardware and we undergo our computation in a very convenient way irrespective of the process occurring at the hardware level. Though the human computer interaction has improved but it's not done yet. If we come to the future the computer's role in our lives would be a lot more rather our life would be of the artificial intelligence. In our future the biggest resource would be component of time and wasting time for a key board entry or a mouse input would be unbearable so the need would be of the computer interaction environment that along with the complexity reduction also minimizes the time wastage in the human computer interaction. Accordingly in our future the computation would also be increased it would not be a simple operating system limited to a computer it would be computers managing our entire life activities hence fall out of domain of present computers electronic based architecture .In this research paper we propose a model that shall be meeting the future human computer interaction needs possessing linguistic human computer interference environment based on surface technology, automation and photonic computing, which would be reliable, efficient and quicker satisfying all the future artificial intelligence pre requisites.

Abstract:The work attempts to unify the conceptual model of the user's virtual computer environment, with the aim of combining the local environments of operating systems and the global Internet environment into a single virtual environment built on general principles. To solve this problem, it is proposed to unify the conceptual basis of these environments. The existing conceptual basis of operating systems, built on the "desktop" metaphor, contains redundant concepts associated with computer architecture. The use of the spatial conceptual basis "object - place" with the concepts of "domain", "site", and "data object" allows to completely virtualize the user environment, separating it from the hardware concepts. The virtual concept "domain" is becoming a universal way of structuring the user's space. The introduction of this concept to describe the environments of operating systems provides at the mental level the integration of the structures of the local and global space. The use of the concept of "personal domain" will allow replacing the concept of "personal computer" in the mind of the user. The virtual concept of "site" as an environment for activities and data storage will allow abandoning such concepts as "application" (program), or "memory device". The site in the mind of the user is a virtual environment that includes both places for storing data objects and places for working with them. The introduction of the concept "site" into the structure of operating systems environments and the concept of "data site" into the structure of the global network integrates the structure of the global and local space in the user's mind. The introduction of the concept of "portal" as a means of integrating information necessary for interaction, allows ensuring the methodological homogeneity of the user's work in a single virtual environment.

Abstract:Debates regarding the nature and role of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) have become increasingly common. This is because HCI lacks a clear philosophical foundation from which to derive a coherent vision and consistent aims and goals. This paper proposes a conceptual framework for ongoing discussion that can give more meaningful and pertinent direction to the future of HCI; we call the proposed approach Human-Engaged Computing (HEC). HEC is a focused yet adaptable philosophical approach which aims to establish “synergized interactions between engaged humans and engaging computers for high level wisdom which enhances our human survival probability and our full potential as humans”. In this paper, HEC is described through five perspectives—definition, components, principles, case studies and benefits. The paper concludes by suggesting future directions for HEC.

Abstract:We are incredibly lucky! When I look back in time, I see no time more exciting than now! When I look forward in time, I see no time more exciting than now! For now, we are privileged to witness the dawn of the era of personal information processing. Few people have ever lived at such a time of technological change. Perhaps only those who were present when the first book was printed have, before us, had a similar opportunity to observe the birth of a technology-derived tool having the power of the personal computer to improve our quality of life. We are presently witnessing what is probably the most significant of all technology-based revolutions surpassing in importance the printing press, the automobile and the assembly line. Low-cost abundant computing brings us to the dawn of a new era. A new era in which information processing power will no longer be the exclusive tool of government and large business. Rather we will have computers for people to use in a near limitless variety f ways in our work, our play, and all aspects of our daily lives.

Abstract:The different ways that computers can be involved in creative work are examined. A classification based on four categories of human–computer interaction to promote creativity is proposed: computers may facilitate (a) the management of creative work, (b) communication between individuals collaborating on creative projects, (c) the use of creativity enhancement techniques, (d) the creative act through integrated human–computer cooperation during idea production. The papers in the Special Issue are discussed according to this classification. Issues to be considered in future work on human–computer interactions for promoting creativity are discussed.

Abstract:Social computing is proposed to improve the quality of life of citizens and preserve the ecology of the planet through moral digital and human-free management of each citizen based on accurate monitoring of their preferences. The model of cyber social computing is described, which will save humanity from its vices and direct the efforts and minds of people to moral solving the existing problems of energy, materials, ecology, quality of life. We propose solutions to the problems of managing social groups from the perspective of deterministic metric computing instead of management based on statistical analysis that does not take into account the interests of each individual citizen. Democracy is an anti-scientific method of probabilistic management of social groups and making incompetent decisions. It should be replaced by moral cyber-computing of metric management of society based on exhaustive testing of the interests of every citizen. The strategy of uniting social groups is shown to effectively address economic and industrial problems based on the adoption of a constitution and laws, which integrate citizens' efforts through the implementation of the doctrine of the unity of diversity of languages, religions, histories, traditions and cultures.

Abstract:Users can't talk with computers in their natural language (machine codes), so there are interfaces that allow such communication. 40 years ago the outcome of computer programs was in the form of long listings covered by numbers and even the format of those numbers was determined by developers. Throughout the latest 25 years: program views and results are shown in a wide variety of shapes and variants, but all these possibilities are predefined and fixed in code by developers; nothing outside of their approved solutions is allowed. My vision from now on into the future: developers are responsible only for correct work of a program (calculations, link with the database, etc.) and suggest a good default interface, but not determine all possible scenarios; only users decide WHAT, WHEN, and HOW to show. This will be a revolution in our dealing with computers, but there are obvious questions. How this step can be made? Do all users need such change? Is it going to be a burden for users or a welcome revolution?

Abstract:The article shows that the foundation of the digital economy can be a new paradigm for predicting the future from the future, i.e. from the future in which the development goal has already been achieved. This allows to minimize all costs and completely avoid incorrect system solutions of the existing trial-and-error approach. Using the achievements of the technological revolution of Industry 4.0, an effective digital economy can be formed only when it is seen as an economy of coordinated interests between the state, business, society and the interests of each individual in real time at every local level. This will make it possible to solve the problem of ensuring the high quality of life not of citizens in general, but of each individual.

Abstract:UbiComp has been envisioned to bring about a future dominated by calm computing technologies making our everyday lives ever more convenient. Yet the same vision has also attracted criticism for encouraging a solitary and passive lifestyle. The aim of this paper is to explore and elaborate these tensions further by examining the human values surrounding future domestic UbiComp solutions. Drawing on envisioning and contravisioning, we probe members of the public (N=28) through the presentation and focus group discussion of two contrasting animated video scenarios, where one is inspired by "calm" and the other by "engaging" visions of future UbiComp technology. By analysing the reasoning of our participants, we identify and elaborate a number of relevant values involved in balancing the two perspectives. In conclusion, we articulate practically applicable takeaways in the form of a set of key design questions and challenges.

Abstract:The printing press, steam engine, Winchester repeating rifle, automobile, and cable television are all technological advancements which commentators claimed would revolutionize society and dramatically alter the direction of civilization. The most recent technological development which has received similar adulation is known by a variety of labels including ‘Cyberspace,’ ‘the Information Superhighway, or simply ‘the Net.’ Increasingly, one hears that this latest innovation, heralded as the ‘Great Equalizer,’ will be the remedy for the world's social ills; especially those associated with the need for universal access to information and educational opportunities. However, like its predecessors, information technology is neither magic dust nor some kinetic elixir. Information technology is merely a tool, like so many others, that can be used at society's pleasure, in any number of ways, with no assurance that the outcome will be positive. In the 1990s, we are yet again confronted with what United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower referred to as ‘the recurring temptation’ to assume that ‘some spectacular and costly action will become the miraculous solution to all current social and economic difficulties.’

Abstract:This article introduces our vision for a new interaction paradigm: Heads-Up Computing, a concept involving the provision of seamless computing support for daily activities. Its synergistic and user-centric approach frees humans from common constraints caused by existing interactions (e.g. smartphone zombies), made possible by matching input and output channels between the device and human. Wearable embodiments include a head- and hand-piece device which enable multimodal interactions and complementary motor movements. While flavors of this vision have been proposed in many research fields and in broader visions like UbiComp, Heads-Up Computing offers a holistic vision focused on the scope of the immediate perceptual space that matters most to users, and establishes design constraints and principles to facilitate the innovation process. We illustrate a day in the life with Heads-Up to inspire future applications and services that can significantly impact the way we live, learn, work, and play.

Abstract:Social and emotional intelligence are aspects of human intelligence that have been argued to be better predictors than IQ for measuring aspects of success in life, especially in social interactions, learning, and adapting to what is important. When it comes to machines, not all of them will need such skills. Yet to have machines like computers, broadcast systems, and cars, capable of adapting to their users and of anticipating their wishes, endowing them with the ability to recognize user's affective states is necessary. This article discusses the components of human affect, how they might be integrated into computers, and how far are we from realizing affective multimodal human-computer interaction.

Abstract:Decades went by since Mark Weiser published his influential work on how a computer of the 21st century would look like. Over the years, some of the UbiComp features presented in that paper have been gradually adopted by industry players in the technology market. While this technological evolution resulted in many benefits to our society, it has also posed, along the way, countless challenges that we have yet to surpass. In this paper, we address major challenges from two areas that most afflict the UbiComp revolution: security and privacy. We examine open problems on software protection, long-term security, cryptography engineering, and privacy implications. We also point out promising directions towards the solutions of those problems. We claim that if we get all this right, we will turn the science fiction of UbiComp into science fact.
