Abstract:Neutral kaons produced in the correlated pairs at the DAFNE phi-factory offer unique possibilities to perform fundamental tests of CPT invariance, as well as of the basic principles of quantum mechanics. The analysis of the data collected by the KLOE experiment allows to improve results on several parameters describing CPT violation and decoherence and to measure the regeneration cross section on the beam pipe materials.

Abstract:Three European experiments are engaged at present in the study of CP violation in the kaon system. In particular, NA48/1 and KLOE are concerned with the K-short decaying into three pions, while NA48/2 and KLOE study the charged kaon decaying into three pions' Dalitz plot asymmetries. I will discuss the physics involved as well as summarize the anticipated sensitivies which can be achieved by the experiments.

Abstract:We present the measurement of the ratio R = \frac{\Gamma(\keg;\Estar>30\mev,\qstar>20^\circ)}{\Gamma(\kegf)} and a first measurement of the direct emission contribution for the same process. We use 328 pb^{-1} of data collected at \kloe in 2001 and 2002, corresponding to about 3 million of \kegf events and about 9 thousand \keg radiative events. Our result is R= (924 \pm 23_{stat} \pm 16_{syst})10^{-5} for the branching ratio and X =-2.3\pm 1.3_{stat}\pm 1.4_{syst} for the parameter describing direct emission.

Abstract: The decays and mixing of $K$ mesons are remarkably sensitive to the weak interactions of quarks and leptons at high energies. They provide important tests of the standard model at both first and second order in the Fermi constant $G_F$ and offer a window into possible new phenomena at energies as high as 1,000 TeV. These possibilities become even more compelling as the growing capabilities of lattice QCD make high-precision standard model predictions possible. Here we discuss and attempt to forecast some of these capabilities.

Abstract:I present highlights of recent CLEO results on the hadronic decay modes of the B meson. Topics covered include two body rare B decays modes, a new measurement of $(B^0 \to D^0 K^+) / (B^0 \to D^0 \pi^+)$, an in depth study of the decay $B^0 \to D^* \rho$, as well as a preliminary search for charge asymmetry in the decay $B^0 \to K^* \pi$.

Abstract:Searches for physics beyond the Standard Model are reported from electron-proton collisions at a center of mass energy of 318 GeV. Results on a completely model independent search for deviations from Standard Model predictions at large transverse momenta are reported as well as generic searches for contact interactions, leptoquarks and excited fermions from the H1 and ZEUS experiments.

Abstract:Cross sections, angular distributions and forward-backward asymmetries are presented, of two-fermion events produced in e + e - collisions at centre-of-mass energies from 189 to 209 GeV at LEP, measured with the ALEPH detector. Results for e + e - , μ + μ - , τ + τ - , qq̄, bb̄ and cc̄ production are in agreement with the standard model predictions. Constraints are set on scenarios of new physics such as four-fermion contact interactions, leptoquarks, Z ′ bosons, TeV-scale quantum gravity and R-parity violating squarks and sneutrinos.
Strangeness photoproduction at extremely forward angles at the BGO-OD experiment

Abstract:The BGO-OD experiment at the ELSA accelerator facility uses an energy tagged bremstrahlung photon beam to investigate the internal structure of the nucleon. The setup consists of a highly segmented BGO calorimeter surrounding the target, with a particle tracking magnetic spectrometer at forward angles. BGO-OD is ideal for investigating low momentum transfer processes due to the acceptance and high momentum resolution at forward angles. This enables the investigation of strangeness photoproduction where t-channel exchange mechanisms play a dominant role. A detailed understanding of this low-momentum transfer region is also crucial for constraints in hypernuclei electroproduction, and sensitive to any extended, molecular-like interactions that may contribute to reaction mechanisms. Progress in the study of K+Λ(1405) differential cross sections and line shapes, K0 photoproduction, and differential cross section measurements for K+Λ and K+Σ0 photoproduction at extremely forward angles is presented. Opportunities for hypernuclei studies are also discussed.

Abstract:Recently the peak luminosity achieved on the DA{\Phi}NE collider has been improved by almost a factor three by implementing a novel collision scheme based on large Piwinski angle and Crab-Waist. This encouraging result opened new perspectives for physics research and a new run with the KLOE-2 detector has been scheduled to start by spring 2010. The KLOE-2 installation is a complex operation requiring a careful design effort and a several months long shutdown. The high luminosity interaction region has been deeply revised in order to take into account the effect on the beam caused by the solenoidal field of the experimental detector and to ensure background rejection. The shutdown has been also used to implement several other modifications aimed at improving beam dynamics: the wiggler poles have been displaced from the magnet axis in order to cancel high order terms in the field, the feedback systems have been equipped with stronger power supplies and more efficient kickers and electrodes have been inserted inside the wiggler and the dipole vacuum chambers, in the positron ring, to avoid the e-cloud formation. A low level RF feedback has been added to the cavity control in both rings.
EPOS4: New theoretical concepts for modeling proton-proton and ion-ion scattering at very high energies

Abstract:We discuss the new concepts behind EPOS4, a new theoretical framework for modeling hadronic interactions at ultrarelativistic energies. It amounts to reconciling a multiple scattering picture of Gribov-Regge type (with parallel scatterings) and factorization, the standard tool for high-energy scattering.

Abstract:The strength of the kaon--antikaon interaction is a crucial quantity for many physics topics. It is for example, an important parameter in the discussion on the nature of the scalar resonances $a_{0}(980)$ and $f_{0}(980)$, in particular for their interpretation as $K\bar{K}$ molecules. So far, one of the few possibilities to study this interaction is the kaon pair production in multi particle exit channels like $pp \to ppK^+K^-$. In this article we present the latest results of the $K^+K^-$ interaction preformed based on near threshold data gathered at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY. We discuss also shortly perspectives for a new measurement of the kaon--antikaon scattering length in the $e^+e^-$ collisions.

Abstract:. All ALEPH measurements of branching ratios of decays involving kaons are summarized including a combination of results obtained with and detection. The decay dynamics are studied, leading to the determination of contributions from vector and , and axial-vector and resonances. Agreement with isospin symmetry is observed among the different final states. Under the hypothesis of the conserved vector current, the spectral function for the mode is compared with the corresponding cross section for low energy annihilation, yielding an axial-vector fraction of for this mode. The branching ratio for decay into all strange final states is determined to be . The measured mass spectra of the strange decay modes are exploited to derive the spectral function. A combination of strange and nonstrange spectral functions is used to determine the strange quark mass and nonperturbative contributions to the strange hadronic width. A method is developed to avoid the bad convergence of the spin zero hadronic component, with the result MeV/. The evolution down to 1 GeV gives .

Abstract:Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) has significantly contributed to our understanding of the CKM matrix through precise determinations of hadronic matrix elements. With advancements in theoretical methodologies and computational resources, investigations can now extend to processes involving QCD-unstable hadrons such as the $\rho$ and $K^\star(892)$. These resonances play vital roles in processes such as weak decays of $B$ mesons, opening new avenues for exploration. Finite-volume lattice QCD techniques involving complex computational methods are used to determine the transition amplitudes. Here, we present preliminary results for $B\to\rho\ell\bar{\nu}$.

Abstract:Ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions will first realize many nucleon-nucleon scatterings, happening instantaneously and therefore necessarily in parallel, due to the short collision time. An appropriate quantum mechanical tool to treat that problem is S-matrix theory, and it has been known for a long time how to derive a simple geometric probabilistic picture, still widely used, and here the Abramovskii-Gribov-Kancheli (AGK) theorem plays a crucial role. All this is done in a scenario where energy conservation is not taken care of, but this is needed, in particular for Monte Carlo simulations. When introducing energy-momentum sharing properly, the AGK theorem does not apply anymore, nor do simple geometric concepts such as binary scaling. I will discuss this (very serious) problem, and how it can be solved, in the EPOS4 framework. When connecting the multiple-Pomeron approach (for parallel scatterings) and perturbative QCD, one is actually forced to implement in a very particular way saturation scales in order to get an approach free of contradictions. One recovers a generalized AGK theorem (gAGK), valid at large pt (larger than the relevant saturation scales). I discuss how gAGK is related to factorization (in proton-proton scatterings) and binary scaling (in heavy-ion collisions). Abstract:In this talk we discuss recent progress concerning precise predictions for hadron colliders. We show results of two applications of tensor reduction using GOLEM methods: the next-to-leading order (NLO) corrections to $pp \to ZZ+$jet as an important background for Higgs particle and new physics searches at hadron colliders, and the NLO corrections to graviton plus jet hadro-production, which is an important channel for graviton searches at the Tevatron and the LHC.

Abstract:The differential cross section for $\gamma p\rightarrow K^+\Lambda(1520)$ was measured from threshold to a centre-of-mass energy of 2090\,MeV at forward angles at the BGOOD experiment. The high statistical precision and resolution in centre-of-mass energy and angle allows a detailed characterisation of this low-momentum transfer kinematic region. The data agree with a previous LEPS measurement and support effective Lagrangian models that indicate that the contact term dominates the cross section near threshold.

Abstract:We have measured the differential cross sections for the production of $\pi^{\pm}, K^{\pm}, K^0, K^{*0}, \Phi, p$ and $\Lambda$ in hadronic $Z^0$ decays and in subsets of flavor-tagged $Z^0 \to$ light quark ($u \bar{u}$, $d \bar{d}$, or $s \bar{s}$), $Z^0 \to c \bar{c}$ and $Z^0 \to b \bar{b}$ events. Charged hadrons were identified with the SLD Cherenkov ring imaging detector. The vertex detector was employed to select flavor enriched samples and the polarized electron beam from SLC was used to tag quark and anti-quark jets. We observe a flavor dependence in the hadron fragmentation functions. We present evidence for leading particle production in hadronic decays of the $Z^{0}$ boson to light-flavor jets and a direct measurement of the strangeness suppression factor $\gamma_s$.

Abstract:We study the structures in cross sections and R ratios concerning electron-positron annihilation reactions, for open-strangeness, open-charm and open-beauty hadron-pair production, from the perspective of a recently developed production formalism. Special attention is paid to non-resonant contributions. Known, tentative, and yet unknown resonances are spotted, with estimates for their masses and widths.
