Abstract:In this letter we have analyzed an entangled state in $C^{3} \bigotimes C^{3}$ having a positive partial transposition and have shown that it is an edge state. Further we have constructed explicitly a witness operator $W$ which detects the entanglement.

Abstract:Entanglement detection problem is one of the important problem in quantum information theory. Gurvit showed that this problem is NP complete and thus this may be the possible reason that only one criterion is not sufficient to detect all entangled states. There are some powerful entanglement detection criterion such as partial transposition criterion, realignment criterion but it may not be possible to implement them successfully in the experiment. This situation can be avoided if the entanglement is detected through the construction of witness operator method. In this work, we take an analytical approach to construct a witness operator. To achieve this task, we first construct a linear map using partial transposition and realignment operation. Then we find some conditions on the parameters of the map for which the map represent a positive map. Further, we have constructed a Choi matrix corresponding to the map and have shown that it is not completely positive. We then construct an entanglement witness operator, which is based on the linear combination of the function of Choi matrix and the identity matrix and it can detect both NPTES and PPTES. Finally, we prove its efficiency by detecting several bipartite bound entangled states which were previously undetected by some well-known separability criteria. We also compared the detection power of our witness operator with three well-known powerful entanglement detection criteria, namely, dV criterion, CCNR criterion and the separability criteria based on correlation tensor (CT) proposed by Sarbicki et. al. and find that our witness operator detect more entangled states than these criterion.

Abstract:Motivated by the Peres-Horodecki criterion and the realignment criterion we develop a more powerful method to identify entangled states for any bipartite system through a universal construction of the witness operator. The method also gives a new family of positive but noncompletely positive maps of arbitrary high dimensions, which provide a much better test than the witness operators themselves. Moreover, we find that there are two types of positive maps that can detect 2xN and 4xN bound entangled states. Since entanglement witnesses are physical observables and may be measured locally our construction could be of great significance for future experiments.

Abstract:We introduce a feasible method of constructing the entanglement witness that detects genuine multiqubit entanglement in the vicinity of a given pure multiqubit state. We illustrate our method in the scenario of constructing the witnesses for the multiqubit states that are most often investigated theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that our method can construct the effective witnesses for experiments. We also investigate the entanglement detection of symmetric states and mixed states.

Abstract:We consider bipartite quantum state discrimination using positive-partial-transpose measurements and show that minimum-error discrimination by positive-partial-transpose measurements is closely related to entanglement witness. By using the concept of decomposable entanglement witness, we establish conditions on minimum-error discrimination by positive-partial-transpose measurements. We also provide conditions on the upper bound of the maximum success probability over all possible positive-partial-transpose measurements. Finally, we illustrate our results using examples of multidimensional bipartite quantum states.

Abstract:Quantum steering is an asymmetric form of quantum nonlocality where one can detect whether a measurement on one system can steer or change another distant system. It is well-known that there are quantum states that are entangled but unsteerable in the standard quantum steering scenario. Consequently, a long-standing open problem in this regard is whether the steerability of every entangled state can be activated in some way. In this work, we consider quantum networks and focus on the swap-steering scenario without inputs and find linear witnesses of network steerability corresponding to any negative partial transpose (NPT) bipartite state and a large class of bipartite states that violate the computable cross-norm (CCN) criterion. Furthermore, by considering that the trusted party can perform tomography of the incoming subsystems, we construct linear inequalities to witness swap-steerability of every bipartite entangled state. Consequently, for every bipartite entangled state one can now observe a form of quantum steering.

Abstract:We investigate a class of entanglement witnesses where each witness is formulated as a difference of two product observables. These observables are decomposable into positive semidefinite local operators that obey a partial ordering rule defined over all their possible expectation values. We provide a framework to construct these entanglement witnesses along with some examples. We also discuss methods to improve them both linearly and nonlinearly.

Abstract:We present a continuous, multiparameter family of positive maps between spaces of differing dimensions. This framework facilitates the construction of Entanglement Witnesses (EWs) specifically designed for systems in $d_1\times d_2$ dimensions. We derive a simple, closed-form criterion for detecting entanglement in general density matrices based on these witnesses. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this criterion, we apply it to a range of Positive Partial Transpose (PPT) entangled states, revealing that the parameter regions where these states exhibit entanglement are larger than previously reported. Furthermore, we prove that non-unital EWs, corresponding to non-unital maps, are not more powerful than unital EWs, thus supporting the focus on unital positive maps in recent studies. Our method complements existing approaches to separability criteria for density matrices in different dimensions.

Abstract:Entanglement in symmetric quantum states and the theory of copositive matrices are intimately related concepts. For the simplest symmetric states, i.e., the diagonal symmetric (DS) states, it has been shown that there exists a correspondence between exceptional (non-exceptional) copositive matrices and non-decomposable (decomposable) Entanglement Witnesses (EWs). Here we show that EWs of symmetric, but not DS, states can also be constructed from extended copositive matrices, providing new examples of bound entangled symmetric states, together with their corresponding EWs, in arbitrary odd dimensions.

Abstract:Teleportation witnesses are hermitian operators which can identify useful entanglement for quantum teleportation. Here we provide a systematic method to construct teleportation witnesses from entanglement witnesses corresponding to general qudit systems. The witnesses so constructed are shown to be optimal for qubit and qutrit systems, and therefore detect the largest set of states useful for teleportation within a given class. We demonstrate the action of the witness pertaining to different classes of states in qubits and qutrits. Decomposition of the witness in terms of spin operators facilitiates experimental identification of useful resources for teleportation.

Abstract:We propose a family of entanglement witnesses and corresponding positive maps that are not completely positive based on local orthogonal observables. As applications the entanglement witness of a 3 x 3 bound entangled state [P. Horodecki, Phys. Lett. A 232, 333 (1997)] is explicitly constructed and a family of dxd bound entangled states is introduced, whose entanglement can be detected by permuting local orthogonal observables. The proposed criterion of separability can be physically realized by measuring a Hermitian correlation matrix of local orthogonal observables.

Abstract:Werner states are multipartite quantum states that are invariant under the diagonal conjugate action of the unitary group. This paper gives a complete characterization of their entanglement that is independent of the underlying local Hilbert space: for every entangled Werner state there exists a dimension-free entanglement witness. The construction of such a witness is formulated as an optimization problem. To solve it, two semidefinite programming hierarchies are introduced. The first one is derived using real algebraic geometry applied to positive polynomials in the entries of a Gram matrix, and is complete in the sense that for every entangled Werner state it converges to a witness. The second one is based on a sum-of-squares certificate for the positivity of trace polynomials in noncommuting variables, and is a relaxation that involves smaller semidefinite constraints.

Numerical evidence for a bipartite pure state entanglement witness from approximate analytical diagonalization

Abstract:We show numerical evidence for a bipartite $d\times d$ pure state entanglement witness that is readily calculated from the wavefunction coefficients directly, without the need for the numerical computation of eigenvalues. This is accomplished by using an approximate analytic diagonalization of the bipartite state that captures dominant contributions to the negativity of the partially transposed state. We relate this entanglement witness to the Log Negativity, and show that it exactly agrees with it for the class of pure states whose quantum amplitudes form a positive Hermitian matrix. In this case, the Log Negativity is given by the negative logarithm of the purity of the amplitudes consider as a density matrix. In other cases, the witness forms a lower bound to the exact, numerically computed Log Negativity. The formula for the approximate Log Negativity achieves equality with the exact Log Negativity for the case of an arbitrary pure state of two qubits, which we show analytically. We compare these results to a witness of entanglement given by the linear entropy. Finally, we explore an attempt to extend these pure state results to mixed states. We show that the Log Negativity for this approximate formula is exact on the class of pure state decompositions for which the quantum amplitudes of each pure state form a positive Hermitian matrix.

Abstract:We introduce a new entanglement measure based on optimal entanglement witness. First of all, we show that the entanglement measure satisfies some necessary properties, including zero entanglements for all separable states, convexity, continuity, invariance under local unitary operations and non-increase under local operations and classical communication(LOCC). More than that, we give a specific mathematical expression for the lower bound of this entanglement measure for any bipartite mixed states. We further improve the lower bound for 2$ \otimes $2 systems. Finally, we numerically simulate the lower bound of several types of specific quantum states.

Abstract:Entanglement criteria for multipartite entangled states are obtained by matching witnesses to multipartite entangled states. The necessary and sufficient criterion of separability for three qubit X states is given as an example to illustrate the procedure of finding a criterion. The result is utilized to obtain the noise tolerance of W state. The necessary and sufficient criteria of three partite separability and full separability for four qubit noisy cluster states, three partite separability for four qubit noisy GHZ states are obtained.

Abstract:On the basis of linear programming, new sets of entanglement witnesses (EWs) for 3x3 and 4x4 systems are constructed. In both cases, the constructed EWs correspond to the hyperplanes contacting, without intersecting, the related feasible regions at line segments and restricted planes respectively. Due to the special property of the contacting area between the hyper-planes and the feasible regions, the corresponding hyper-planes can be turned around the contacting area throughout a bounded interval and hence create an infinite number of EWs. As these EWs are able to detect entanglement of some PPT states, they are non-decomposable (nd-EWs).

Abstract:Equivalence between positive partial transpose (PPT) entanglement and bound entanglement is a longstanding open problem in quantum information theory. Limited progress has been made so far, even on the seemingly simple case of the bound entanglement of Werner states. The primary challenge is to give a concise mathematical representation of undistillability. To this end, we propose a decomposition of the N-undistillability verification into log(N) repeated steps of 1-undistillability verification. For Werner states' N-undistillability verification, a parameter interval for N-undistillability is given, which is independent of the dimensionality of Werner states. Equivalent forms of inequalities for both rank 1 and 2 matrices are presented, before transforming the 2-undistillability case into a matrix analysis problem. A new perspective is also attempted by seeing it as a nonconvex multivariable function, proving its critical points and conjecturing Hessian positivity, which would make them local minimums.

Abstract:Entanglement witnesses (EW) are non-positive Hermitian operators which can detect the presence of entanglement. Let DW denote the set of entangled states detected by the entanglement witness W. In [M. Lewenstein, B. Kraus, J.I. Cirac, P. Horodecki, Phys. Rev. A 62 (2001) 052310], authors showed that DW2⊂DW1 if and only if there exists a positive operator P and 0⩽ε<1 such that W2=(1−ε)W1+εP. In this Letter, we consider the following problem that if there exists no inclusion relation between DW1 and DW2, then how to determine whether their intersection is an empty set or not. We show that there exists a state ρ detected by W1 and W2 if and only if for any λ∈[0,1], W=λW1+(1−λ)W2 is not a positive operator. And this result can be generalized to the finite number of EWs.

Abstract:We construct a family of map which is shown to be positive when imposing certain condition on the parameters. Then we show that the constructed map can never be completely positive. After tuning the parameters, we found that the map still remain positive but it is not completely positive.
