Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the mean curvature flow having equifocal submanifolds as initial data. The investigation are performed by investigating the mean curvature flow having the lifted submanifolds to a Hilbert space through a Riemannian submersion as initial data.

Abstract:We consider the problem of deforming a one-parameter family of hypersurfaces immersed into closed Riemannian manifolds with positive curvature operator. The hypersurface in this family satisfies mean curvature flow while the ambient metric satisfying the normalized Ricci flow. We prove that if the initial background manifold is an approximation of a spherical space form and the initial hypersurface also satisfies a suitable pinching condition, then either the hypersurfaces shrink to a round point in finite time or converge to a totally geodesic sphere as the time tends to infinity.

Abstract:Recently, Pipoli and Sinestrari [Pipoli, G. and Sinestrari, C., Mean curvature flow of pinched submanifolds of ℝℙ n , Comm. Anal. Geom. , 25 , 2017, 799–846] initiated the study of convergence problem for the mean curvature flow of small codimension in the complex projective space ℝℙ m . The purpose of this paper is to develop the work due to Pipoli and Sinestrari, and verify a new convergence theorem for the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension in the complex projective space. Namely, the authors prove that if the initial submanifold in ℝℙ m satisfies a suitable pinching condition, then the mean curvature flow converges to a round point in finite time, or converges to a totally geodesic submanifold as t → ∞. Consequently, they obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds in the complex projective space.

Abstract:Under the hypothesis of mean curvature flows of hypersurfaces, we prove that the limit of the smooth rescaling of the singularity is weakly convex. It is a generalization of the result due to G. Huisken and C. Sinestrari in [5]. These a-priori bounds are satisfied for mean convex hypersurfaces in locally symmetric Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature.

Abstract:By using the volume form induced from the projective sphere bundle of the Fiusler manifold,the Finsler geometry of submanifolds is studied.The first variation formula of the volume functional for Fiusler submanifolds is derived.The second fundamental form and the mean curvature form for Finsler submanifolds are defined,which coincide with the usual notions for the Riemannian case.By deriving the divergence formula on the fiber of the projective sphere bundle,a simple equivalence expression of the mean curvature form is given.Some interesting results for Finsler submanifolds in the Minkowski space are established.

Abstract:Let M n be a smooth, compact manifold without boundary, and F 0: M n → R n+1 a smooth immersion which is convex. The one-parameter families F(·, t): M n × [0, T) → R n+1 of hypersurfaces M t n = F(·, t)(M n ) satisfy an initial value problem dt/dF(·, t) = −H k (·, t)ν(·, t), F(·, 0) = F 0(·), where H is the mean curvature and ν(·, t) is the outer unit normal at F(·, t), such that −H ν = $\overrightarrow H $ is the mean curvature vector, and k > 0 is a constant. This problem is called H k -flow. Such flow will develop singularities after finite time. According to the blow-up rate of the square norm of the second fundamental forms, the authors analyze the structure of the rescaled limit by classifying the singularities as two types, i.e., Type I and Type II. It is proved that for Type I singularity, the limiting hypersurface satisfies an elliptic equation; for Type II singularity, the limiting hypersurface must be a translating soliton.
Mean curvature flow of higher codimension in Riemannian manifolds

Abstract: We investigate the convergence of the mean curvature flow of arbitrary codimension in Riemannian manifolds with bounded geometry. We prove that if the initial submanifold satisfies a pinching condition, then along the mean curvature flow the submanifold contracts smoothly to a round point in finite time. As a consequence we obtain a differentiable sphere theorem for submanifolds in a Riemannian manifold.

Abstract:We show that the mean curvature flow of generic closed surfaces in avoids asymptotically conical and non-spherical compact singularities. We also show that the mean curvature flow of generic closed low-entropy hypersurfaces in is smooth until it disappears in a round point. The main technical ingredient is a long-time existence and uniqueness result for ancient mean curvature flows that lie on one side of asymptotically conical or compact shrinking solitons.

Abstract:We study the mean curvature flow of smooth $n$-dimensional compact submanifolds with quadratic pinching in a Riemannian manifold $\mathcal{N}^{n+m}$. Our main focus is on the case of high codimension, $m\geq 2$. We establish a codimension estimate that shows in regions of high curvature, the submanifold becomes approximately codimension one in a quantifiable way. This estimate enables us to prove at a singular time of the flow, there exists a rescaling that converges to a smooth codimension-one limiting flow in Euclidean space. Under a cylindrical type pinching, this limiting flow is weakly convex and moves by translation. Our approach relies on the preservation of the quadratic pinching condition along the flow and a gradient estimate that controls the mean curvature in regions of high curvature. These estimates allow us to analyse the behaviour of the flow near singularities and establish the existence of the limiting flow.

Abstract:Consider a family of smooth immersions F(; t) : Mn ! Rn+k of submanifolds in Rn+k moving by mean curvature ow @F @t = ~H, where ~H is the mean curvature vector for the evolving submanifold. We prove that for any n 2 and k 1, the ow starting from a closed submanifold with small L2-norm of the traceless second fundamental form contracts to a round point in nite time, and the corresponding normalized ow converges exponentially in the C1-topology, to an n-sphere in some subspace Rn+1 of Rn+k.

Abstract:We show that the evolution of isoparametric hypersurfaces of Riemannian manifolds by the mean curvature flow is given by a reparametrization of the parallel family in short time, as long as the uniqueness of the mean curvature flow holds for the initial data and the corresponding ambient space. As an application, we provide a class of Riemannian manifolds that admit non-isoparametric hypersurfaces with constant principal curvatures. Furthermore, for a class of ambient spaces, we show that the singularities developed by the mean curvature flow with isoparametric hypersurfaces as the initial data are Type I singularities. We apply our results to describe the evolution of isoparametric hypersurfaces by the mean curvature flow in ambient spaces with nonconstant sectional curvature, such as homogenous 3-manifolds with 4-dimensional isometry groups, and Riemannian products of space forms.

Abstract:The self-similar solutions to the mean curvature flow have been defined and studied on the Euclidean space. In this paper we propose a general treatment of the self-similar solutions to the mean curvature flow on Riemannian cone manifolds. As a typical result we extend the well-known result of Huisken about the asymptotic behavior for the singularities of the mean curvature flows. We also extend results on special Lagrangian submanifolds on C-n to the toric Calabi-Yau cones over Sasaki-Einstein manifolds.

Abstract:This is a survey paper on the inverse curvature flow for hypersurfaces in Riemannian manifold. We first discuss the long time behavior of the inverse curvature flow in Euclidean space, and its application in proving the Alexandrov-Fenchel inequalities for star-shaped hypersurfaces. Then we discuss the related results in hyperbolic space and in sphere. Finally, we discuss the inverse mean curvature flow in Kottler space. Kottler space is an important example of warped product space, and is aymptotically locally hyperbolic at the infinity and satisfies the static equation. We will consider the convergence result of inverse mean curvature flow in such space and also discuss its application in proving the Minkowski-type inequality for star-shaped and mean convex hypersurfaces. Inverse curvature flow is an active research area in recent years. We cannot include all results in this short article. For the convenience of the interested readers, we list a few related references on other topics that we do not mention.

Abstract:A submanifold in space forms is isoparametric if the normal bundle is flat and principal curvatures along any parallel normal fields are constant. We study the mean curvature flow with initial data an isoparametric submanifold in Euclidean space and sphere. We show that the mean curvature flow preserves the isoparametric condition, develops singularities in finite time, and converges in finite time to a smooth submanifold of lower dimension. We also give a precise description of the collapsing.

Abstract:In the last 15 years, White and Huisken-Sinestrari developed a far-reaching structure theory for the mean curvature flow of mean convex hypersurfaces. Their papers provide a package of estimates and structural results that yield a precise description of singularities and of high curvature regions in a mean convex flow. In the present paper, we give a new treatment of the theory of mean convex (and k-convex) flows. This includes: (1) an estimate for derivatives of curvatures, (2) a convexity estimate, (3) a cylindrical estimate, (4) a global convergence theorem, (5) a structure theorem for ancient solutions, and (6) a partial regularity theorem. Our new proofs are both more elementary and substantially shorter than the original arguments. Our estimates are local and universal. A key ingredient in our new approach is the new non- collapsing result of Andrews. Some parts are also inspired by the work of Perelman. In a forthcoming paper, we will give a new construction of mean curvature flow with surgery based on the theorems established in the present paper.
