Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the orbit-adjustment problem of satellite systems in the presence of nonlinear uncertainties in kinematics and dynamics. We propose a novel direct adaptive fuzzy control scheme with prescribed tracking accuracy to address uncertain nonlinear dynamics by employing advanced fuzzy logic systems and integrating a class of sophisticated smooth functions, thereby ensuring convergence of the tracking error within a precisely defined interval. The ingeniously designed control scheme guarantees negative semi-definiteness of the Lyapunov function, ensuring boundedness for all variables. Moreover, our groundbreaking control approach requires only one adaptive law, completely eliminating any direct correlation with the number of nonlinear functions. Simulation results unequivocally validate the remarkable effectiveness and superiority of our innovative control approach.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper primarily focuses on addressing the orbit adjustment problem for satellite systems in the presence of dynamic and kinematic nonlinear uncertainties. The research team proposed a novel direct adaptive fuzzy control scheme with a predefined tracking accuracy to handle uncertain nonlinear dynamics. By utilizing advanced fuzzy logic systems and integrating a series of sophisticated smoothing functions, the tracking error is ensured to converge within a precisely defined interval. The ingeniously designed control scheme guarantees the negative semi-definiteness of the Lyapunov function, thereby ensuring the boundedness of all variables. Moreover, this pioneering control method requires only one adaptive law, completely eliminating the direct correlation with the number of nonlinear functions. The key contributions of the paper include: 1. For satellite systems characterized by nonlinear dynamics and modeling uncertainties, the research team adopted a fuzzy logic system fused with a class of elegant smoothing functions to cope with uncertain nonlinear functions. They also considered an improved fuzzy weighting function that covers the approximation error of the fuzzy logic system. Based on the Lyapunov function, the research team designed a feedback controller to ensure the satellite's stable operation within a predetermined orbit in multiple directions. 2. The control scheme effectively avoids potential singularity issues that may arise in the design of backstepping controllers, ensuring that no differential term issues exist in the virtual controllers. By introducing norms, the research team ensured that the inclusion of the fuzzy logic system does not lead to an increase in the number of adaptive laws. In the proposed control scheme, only one adaptive law is sufficient for the design purpose. 3. The research team established an L2 norm boundary to assess the transient performance of the tracking error and proposed a method to adjust the reference trajectory, allowing for the reduction of the established L2 norm boundary as needed. This method enables satisfactory transient performance of the tracking error while meeting the specified steady-state tracking performance. The effectiveness and superiority of the control scheme were clearly confirmed by simulation results.
