Abstract:The most recent calculations of pi+ pi+ and K+ K+ scattering by the NPLQCD collaboration using domain-wall valence quarks on staggered MILC configurations are presented. In addition, a quenched calculation of the potentials between two B-mesons is discussed.

Abstract:We report on a calculation of the B*Bpi coupling in lattice QCD. The strong matrix element for a B* to Bpi transition is directly related to the leading order low-energy constant in heavy meson chiral perturbation theory (HMChPT) for B mesons. We carry out our calculation directly at the b-quark mass using a non-perturbatively tuned clover action that controls discretization effects of order pa and (ma)^n for all n. Our analysis is performed on RBC/UKQCD gauge configurations using domain-wall fermions and the Iwasaki gauge action at two lattice spacings of ainverse = 1.729(25) GeV, ainverse = 2.281(28) GeV, and unitary pion masses down to 290 MeV. We achieve good statistical precision and control all systematic uncertainties, giving a final result for the HMChPT coupling g_b = 0.56(3)stat(7)sys in the continuum and at the physical light-quark masses. This is the first calculation performed directly at the physical b-quark mass and lies in the region one would expect from carrying out an interpolation between previous results at the charm mass and at the static point.

Abstract:We discuss the rescattering effects in decays B→π+K. The picture wetake is very simple: first, B decay into K*ρ, then K* and ρ go tokaon and pion by exchanging a pion. We find a up to ten percent CP violationasymmetry rate. We also discuss its correction to the constraint of angleγ proposed recently.

Abstract:The B-meson system is an interesting probe for the exploration of strong interactions, the quark-flavour sector of the Standard Model, and the search for new physics. In this programme, non-leptonic B decays, which are particularly challenging from the point of view of QCD, play a key role. After discussing strategies to deal with the corresponding hadronic matrix elements of four-quark operators and popular avenues for new physics to manifest itself in B decays, we focus on puzzling patterns in the B-factory data for B -> pi pi, pi K decays; we explore their implications for hadron physics, new physics and rare K and B decays.

Abstract:We report on a lattice-QCD calculation of the B to pi l nu form factor with domain-wall light quarks and relativistic b-quarks using the 2 + 1 flavor domain-wall fermion and Iwasaki gauge-field ensembles generated by the RBC and UKQCD Collaborations. We present initial results obtained from the coarser (a ~ 0.11 fm) 24^3 lattices and some of the finer (a ~ 0.086 fm) 32^3 lattices.

Abstract:In this chapter, the current status on baryon-baryon interactions such as nuclear forces in lattice Quantum ChromoDynamics (QCD) is reviewed. In studies of baryon-baryon interactions in lattice QCD, the most reliable method so far is the potential method, proposed by the Hadrons to Atomic nuclei from Lattice QCD (HAL QCD) collaboration, whose formulation, properties and extensions are explained in detail. Using the HAL QCD potential method, potentials between nucleons (proton and neutron, denoted by $N$) in the derivative expansion have been extracted in various cases. The lattice QCD results shown in this chapter include a Leading Order (LO) central potential in the parity-even $NN(^1S_0)$ channel, LO central and tensor potentials in the parity-even $NN(^3S_1$-$^3D_1)$ channel, and a Next-to-Leading Order (NLO) spin-orbit potential as well as LO potentials in the parity-odd channels. Preliminary results at the almost physical pion and kaon masses, in addition to exploratory studies on three-nucleon potentials, are presented. Interactions between generic baryons including hyperons, made of one or more strange quarks as well as up and down quarks, have also been investigated. Universal properties of potentials between baryons become manifest in the flavor SU(3) symmetric limit, where masses of three quarks, up, down and strange, are all equal. In particular, it is observed that one bound state, traditionally called the $H$-dibaryon, appears in the flavor singlet representation of SU(3). A fate of the $H$ dibaryon is also discussed with flavor SU(3) breaking taken into account at the almost physical point. Finally, various kinds of dibaryons, bound or resonate states of two baryons, including charmed dibaryons, have been predicted by lattice QCD simulations at the almost physical point.

The B*Bpi Coupling in the Static Limit

Abstract:We study an accurate method for the lattice calculation of the B*Bpi Coupling in the static limit, paying particular attention to excited state contamination. As this coupling is a parameter of the heavy meson chiral Lagrangian, it is useful for constraining the chiral behaviour of various observables in B-physics. We present a precise study of the continuum limit in the quenched approximation and preliminary results with 2 flavours of improved Wilson quarks (using CLS lattices) for pion masses down to around 250 MeV. With dynamical quarks both the lattice spacing and the light quark mass dependences are found to be very weak. We can quote g = 0.51(2) for the continuum value in the chiral limit, where the error will be reduced when a more complete analysis has been performed.

Abstract:A lattice QCD computation of the coupled channel πΣ–K ̄N scattering amplitudes in the Λ(1405) region is detailed. Results are obtained using a single ensemble of gauge field configurations with Nf=2+1 dynamical quark flavors and mπ≈200 MeV and mK≈487 MeV . Hermitian correlation matrices using both single baryon and meson-baryon interpolating operators for a variety of different total momenta and irreducible representations are used. Several parametrizations of the two-channel scattering K -matrix are utilized to obtain the scattering amplitudes from the finite-volume spectrum. Quasi-two-body decays $B_c \to K^{*} h \to K πh $ in the perturbative QCD

Abstract:In this work we study the quasi-two-body decays $B_c \to \ K^{*} h \to K \pi h (h = D, D_s, K, \pi, \eta, \eta')$ in the perturbative QCD (PQCD) approach. The two-meson distribution amplitudes (DAs) $\Phi^{\text{P-wave}}_{K\pi}$ are introduced to describe the final state interactions of the K \pi pair, which involve the time-like form factors F_{K\pi}(s) parameterized by the relativistic Breit-Wigner function and the Gegenbauer polynomials. We calculate the branching ratios for these quasi-two-body decays, from which one can obtain the branching raios for the corresponding two-body decays under the narrow width approximation relation. We find that $B^+_c\to K^{*+}D^0$ and $B^+_c\to K^{*0}D^+$ have the largest branching ratios, which can reach up to $10^{-6}$, while the branching ratios for other two-body decays are very small and only about $10^{-8}\sim10^{-7}$. As we expected that the branching ratios of the pure annihilation decays are usually small, while in our considered such type of decays, the channel $B_c^+ \to \bar K^{*0}K^{+}$ has the largest branching ratio, which is near $10^{-6}$. These results are consistent with the previously PQCD calculations obtained in the two-body framework, which can be tested by the future LHCb experiments. For the decays $B_c^+ \to K^{*+} D^{0}\to K^{0}\pi^+D^{0} , B_c^+ \to K^{*0}D^{+}\to K^{+}\pi^-D^{+}$ and $B_c^+ \to \bar K^{*0}D_s^{+}\to K^{-}\pi^+D_s^{+}$, we calculate their direct CP violations and find that $A_{CP}(B_c^+ \to K^{*+}D^{0}\to K^{0}\pi^+D^{0})=(-14.6_{-1.12}^{+9.19})\%$ is the largest one, which is possible measured by the present LHCb experiments. For the pure annihilation type decays, there is no CP violations because only the tree operators are involved. Furthermore, we also give the differential distributions of the branching ratios and the direct CP violations for the decays $B_c\to K^* D_{(s)}\to K \pi D_{(s)}$.

Abstract:Combining the up-to-date experimental information on B -> pi K, pi K* and rho K decays, we revisit the decay rates and CP asymmetries of these decays within the framework of QCD factorization. Using an infrared finite gluon propagator of Cornwall prescription, we find that the time-like annihilation amplitude could contribute a large strong phase, while the space-like hard spectator scattering amplitude is real. Numerically, we find that all the branching ratios and most of the direct CP violations, except A(CP)(B-+/- -> K-+/-pi(0)), agree with the current experimental data with an effective gluon mass m(g) similar or equal to 0.5 GeV. Taking the unmatched difference in direct CP violations between B -> pi(0) K-+/- and pi K--/+(+/-) decays as a hint of new physics, we perform a model-independent analysis of new physics contributions with a set of (s) over bar (1 + gamma(5))b circle times (q) over bar (1 + gamma(5))q (q=u,d) operators. Detail analyses of the relative impacts of the operators are presented in five cases. Fitting the twelve decay modes, parameter spaces are found generally with nontrivial weak phases. Our results may indicate that both strong phase from annihilation amplitude and new weak phase from new physics are needed to resolve the pi K puzzle. To further test the new physics hypothesis, the mixing-induced CP violations in B -> pi K-0(s) and rho K-0(s) are discussed and good agreements with the recent experimental data are found.

Abstract:We study the resonant contributions in the process of (B) over bar (0) -> K- pi(+)mu(+)mu(-) with the K- pi(+) invariant mass square m(K pi)(2) is an element of [1, 5] GeV2. Width effects of the involved strange mesons, K*(1410), K*(0)(1430), K*(2)(1430), K*(1680), K*(3)(1780) and K*(4)(2045), are incorporated. In terms of helicity amplitudes, we derive a compact form for the full angular distributions, through which the branching ratios, forward-backward asymmetries and polarizations are attained. We propose that the uncertainties in the B -> K*(J) form factors can be pinned down by the measurements of a set of SU( 3)- related processes. Using results from the large energy limit, we derive the dependence of branching fractions on the m(K pi), and find that the K*(2) resonance has a clear signature, in particular, in the transverse polarizations.

Abstract:We have calculated the potentials of the heavy (charmed or bottomed) pseudoscalar mesons up to $O(\epsilon^2)$ with the heavy meson chiral perturbation theory. We take into account the contributions from the football, triangle, box, and crossed diagrams with the 2$\phi$ exchange and one-loop corrections to the contact terms. We notice that the total 2$\phi$-exchange potential alone is attractive in the small momentum region in the channel ${\bar B \bar B}^{I=1}$, ${\bar B_s \bar B_s}^{I=0}$, or ${\bar B \bar B_s}^{I=1/2}$, while repulsive in the channel ${\bar B \bar B}^{I=0}$. Hopefully the analytical chiral structures of the potentials may be useful in the extrapolation of the heavy meson interaction from lattice QCD simulation.

Abstract:We study S -wave interactions in the I(Jp)=1/2(1/2−) ΛcK+−pDs system on the basis of the coupled-channel Hadrons to Atomic nuclei from Lattice Quantum ChromoDynamics method. The potentials which are faithful to QCD S-matrix below the pD* threshold are extracted from Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave functions on the lattice in flavor SU(3) limit. For the simulation, we employ 3-flavor full QCD gauge configurations on a (1.93 fm)3 volume at mπ≃872 MeV . We present our results of the S-wave coupled-channel potentials for the ΛcK+−pDs system in the 1/2(1/2−) state as well as scattering observables obtained from the extracted potential matrix. We observe that the coupling between ΛcK+ and pDs channels is weak. Branching ratio and $CP$ violation of $B\to Kπ$ decays in a modified perturbative QCD approach

Abstract:We calculate the branching ratio and $CP$ violations for $B\to K\pi$ decays in a modified perturbative QCD approach based on $k_{T}$ factorization. The resummation effect of the transverse momentum regulates the endpoint singularity. Using the $B$ meson wave function that is obtained in the relativistic potential model, soft contribution cannot be suppressed effectively by Sudakov factor. Soft scale cutoff and soft $BK$, $B\pi$ and $K\pi$ form factors have to be introduced. The most important next-to-leading-order contributions from the vertex corrections, the quark loops, and the magnetic penguins are also considered. In addition, the contribution of the color-octet hadronic matrix element is included which is essentially of long-distance dynamics. Our predictions for branching ratios and $CP$ violations are in good agreement with the experimental data. Especially the theoretical result of dramatic difference between the $CP$ violations of $B^+\to K^+\pi^0$ and $B^0\to K^+\pi^-$ is consistent with experimental measurement, therefore the $K\pi$ puzzle in $B$ decays can be resolved in our way of the modified perturbative QCD approach.

Abstract:We compute g(D*D pi) and g(B*B pi) using a framework in which all elements are constrained by Dyson-Schwinger equation studies of QCD and therefore incorporates a consistent, direct, and simultaneous description of light and heavy quarks and the states they may constitute. We link these couplings with the heavy-light-meson leptonic decay constants and thereby obtain g(D*D pi) = 15.9(-1.0)(+2.1) and g(B*B pi) = 30.0(-1.4)(+3.2). From the latter, we infer (g) over cap (B) = 0.37(-0.02)(+0.04). A comparison between g(D*D pi) and g(B*B pi) indicates that when the c quark is a system's heaviest constituent, Lambda(QCD)/m(c)-corrections are not under good control.

Abstract:This Letter presents the first lattice QCD computation of the coupled channel πΣ−K ̄N scattering amplitudes at energies near 1405 MeV. These amplitudes contain the resonance Λ(1405) resonance with strangeness S=−1 and isospin, spin, and parity quantum numbers I(JP)=0(1/2−) . However, whether there is a single resonance or two nearby resonance poles in this region is controversial theoretically and experimentally. Using single-baryon and meson-baryon operators to extract the finite-volume stationary-state energies to obtain the scattering amplitudes at slightly unphysical quark masses corresponding to mπ≈200 MeV and mK≈487 MeV , this study finds the amplitudes exhibit a virtual bound state below the πΣ threshold in addition to the established resonance pole just below the K ̄N threshold. Abstract:Using the MILC 2+1 flavor asqtad quark action ensembles, we are calculating the form factors $f_0$ and $f_+$ for the semileptonic $B_s \rightarrow K \ell\nu$ decay. A total of six ensembles with lattice spacing from $\approx0.12$ to 0.06 fm are being used. At the coarsest and finest lattice spacings, the light quark mass $m'_l$ is one-tenth the strange quark mass $m'_s$. At the intermediate lattice spacing, the ratio $m'_l/m'_s$ ranges from 0.05 to 0.2. The valence $b$ quark is treated using the Sheikholeslami-Wohlert Wilson-clover action with the Fermilab interpretation. The other valence quarks use the asqtad action. When combined with (future) measurements from the LHCb and Belle II experiments, these calculations will provide an alternate determination of the CKM matrix element $|V_{ub}|$.

Decay Constants of the Pion and B Mesons with the Bethe–Salpeter Equation

Abstract:In this Letter, we investigate the under-structures of the pi and B mesons in the framework of the Bethe-Salpeter equation with the confining effective potential (infrared modified flat bottom potential). In bare quark-gluon vertex approximation, we obtain the algebraic expressions for the solutions of the coupled rainbow Schwinger-Dyson equation and ladder Bethe-Salpeter equation. Firstly, we neglect the rainbow Schwinger-Dyson equation, take the bare quark propagator and solve the Bethe-Salpeter equation numerically alone. Although the bare quark propagator cannot embody dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and has a mass pole in the time-like region, it can give reasonable results for the values of decay constants f(pi) and f(B) compared with the values of experimental data and other theoretical calculations, such as lattice simulations and QCD sum rules. Secondly, we explore those mesons within the framework of the coupled rainbow Schwinger-Dyson equation and ladder Bethe-Salpeter equation. The Schwinger-Dyson functions for the u and d quarks are greatly renorinalized at small momentum region and the curves are steep at about q(2) = 1 GeV2 which indicates an explicitly dynamical symmetry breaking. The Euclidean time Fourier-transformed quark propagator has no mass poles in the time-like region which naturally implements confinement. As for the b quark, the current mass is very large, the renormalization is more tender, however, mass pole in the time-like region is also absent. The Bethe-Salpeter wavefunctions for both the pi and B mesons have the same type (Gaussian type) momentum dependence as the corresponding wavefunctions with the bare quark propagator, however, the quantitative values are changed and the values for the decay constants f(pi) and f(B) are changed correspondingly. Abstract:The long-range, parity-odd nucleon interaction generated by single pion exchange is captured in the parity-odd pion-nucleon coupling $h^1_\pi$. Its calculation in lattice QCD requires the evaluation of 4-quark operator nucleon 3-point functions. We investigate a new numerical approach to compute $h^1_\pi$ based on nucleon matrix elements of parity-even 4-quark operators and related to the parity-violating electro-weak theory by PCAC and chiral perturbation theory. This study is performed with 2+1+1 dynamical flavors of twisted mass fermions at pion mass $m_{\pi} \approx 260\,\text{MeV}$ in a lattice box of $L \approx 3 \,\text{fm} $ and with a lattice spacing of $a \approx 0.091 \,\text{fm}$. From a calculation excluding fermion loop diagrams we find a bare coupling of $h^1_\pi = 8.08 \,(98) \cdot 10^{-7}$.
