Abstract:By virtue of the linear combination of a†and a and the coordinate-momentum intermediate representation as well as operator-ordering technique we derive some new expansion identities about Hermite-polynomial operators and Laguerre-polynomial operators. We also find a new approach for transiting the Hermite polynomial operator to the associated Laguerre polynomial operator. Abstract:We propose an operator Hermite polynomial method, namely, we replace the arguments of the special function by quantum mechanical operators, and in this way we derive a binomial theorem involving Hermite polynomials and a negative-binomial theorem involving Laguerre polynomials. These two theorems will have essential applications in quantum optics calculations. This method is concise and helpful in deducing many operator identities, which may become a new branch in mathematical physics theory.

Abstract:The polynomials introduced by Sister Celine cover different usual orthogonal polynomials as special cases. Among them, the Jacobi and discrete Hahn polynomials are of particular interest for the quantum theory of angular momentum. In this note, we show that characters of irreducible representations of the rotation group as well as Wigner rotation "d" matrices, can be expressed as Sister Celine's polynomials. Since many relations were proposed for the latter polynomials, such connections could lead to new identities for quantities important in quantum mechanics and atomic physics.

Abstract:By virtue of the coherent state representation and the operator ordering method we find a new approach for transiting Hermite polynomials to Laguerre polynomials. We also derive the new reciprocal relation of Laguerre polynomials ∑_n = 0( - 1)^n ( _n^l )L_n (x) = x^l l! , and its application in deriving the sum rule of the Wingner function of Fock states is demonstrated. Some new expansion identities about the operator Laguerre polynomial are also derived. This opens a new route of deriving mathematical polynomials formulas by virtute of the quantum mechanical representations and operator ordering technique.

Abstract:We extend the ordinary binomial theorem to the case which involves two-variable Hermite polynomials in the context of quantum optics, and analytically obtain several new generalized binomial theorems whose results exactly equal the single- or two-mode Hermite polynomials. As their applications in the field of quantum optics, we analytically prove that the multiple-photon-subtracted squeezed state ambnesa†b†+ra†+tb† |00⟩ is equivalent to the Hermite-polynomial-weighted quantum state serving as an easily produced non-Gaussian entangled information resource, and the Wigner functions of spin coherent states and their marginal distributions are respectively the Laguerre polynomials and the Hermite polynomials.

Abstract:Using the resolution of unity composed of bosonic creation operator's eigenkets and annihilation operator's un-normalized eigenket, which is a new quantum mechanical representation in contour integration form, we derive new contour integration expression of associated Laguerre polynomials L-m(rho)(vertical bar z vertical bar(2)) and its generalized generating function formula. Abstract:The authors introduce a pair of canonical-conjugate q-deformed operators D, X and discuss the relations between the deformed operators D, X and q-series. The realizations of some Lie symmetries, Heisenberg and quantum Heisenberg algebras are given for the operators D and X. They show that the q-analogous Hermite polynomials are representations of Heisenberg and quantum Heisenberg algebras realized in this way. When q is a root of unity, the properties of the q-analogous Hermite polynomials are also discussed.

Abstract:We give an analog of exceptional polynomials in the matrix valued setting by considering suitable factorizations of a given second order differential operator and performing Darboux transformations. Orthogonality and density of the exceptional sequence is discussed in detail. We give an example of matrix valued exceptional Laguerre polynomials of arbitrary size.

Abstract:We consider the case of exceptional Laguerre polynomials $X_1$ of type I, II and III, their ordinary differential equations and the problem of finding general solution beside the polynomial part. We will develop an algebraic approach based on the Schrodinger form of the problem and associate representations of the underlying spectrum generating algebra. We use the Darboux-Crum transformation to construct ladder operators of fourth order for the case of the exceptional Laguerre polynomials $X_1$ of type I, II and III. We then obtain all zero modes for the lowering and raising operators. We construct the induced representation for the linearly independent solutions, including the polynomial states. Those states forming the general solution are important non only in the construction of wider set of physical states satisfying different boundary conditions, but also in context of getting isospectral deformations. Our approach, allows to provide a completely algebraic construction of the two linearly independent solutions of the ordinary differential equation of the exceptional orthogonal polynomials of Laguerre type $X_1$ ( case I, II and III). The analogue of Rodrigues formulas for the general solution are constructed. The set of finite states from which the other states can be obtained algebraically is not unique but the vanishing arrow and diagonal arrow from the diagram of the 2-chain representations can be used to obtain minimal sets. These Rodrigues formulas are then exploited, not only to construct all the states (polynomial and non-polynomial), in a purely algebraic way, but also to obtain coefficients from the action of the ladder operators also in an algebraic manner. Those results are established via higher commutation relations related to the cubic Heisenberg Weyl algebra.

On a power series involving classical orthogonal polynomials

Abstract:We investigate a class of power series occurring in some problems in quantum optics. Their coefficients are either Gegenbauer or Laguerre polynomials multiplied by binomial coefficients. Although their sums have been known for a long time, we employ here a different method to recover them as higher-order derivatives of the generating function of the given orthogonal polynomials. The key point in our proof consists in exploiting a specific functional equation satisfied by the generating function in conjunction with Cauchy's integral formula for the derivatives of a holomorphic function. Special or limiting cases of Gegenbauer polynomials include the Legendre and Chebyshev polynomials. The series of Hermite polynomials is treated in a straightforward way, as well as an asymptotic case of either the Gegenbauer or the Laguerre series. Further, we have succeeded in evaluating the sum of a similar power series which is a higher-order derivative of Mehler's generating function. As a prerequisite, we have used a convenient factorization of the latter that enabled us to employ a particular Laguerre expansion. Mehler's summation formula is then applied in quantum mechanics in order to retrieve the propagator of a linear harmonic oscillator.

Abstract:Multivariable generalizations of the classical Hermite, Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials occur as the polynomial part of the eigenfunctions of certain Schrödinger operators for Calogero-Sutherland-type quantum systems. For the generalized Hermite and Laguerre polynomials the multidimensional analogues of many classical results regarding generating functions, differentiation and integration formulas, recurrence relations and summation theorems are obtained. We use this and related theory to evaluate the global limit of the ground state density, obtaining in the Hermite case the Wigner semi-circle law, and to give an explicit solution for an initial value problem in the Hermite and Laguerre case.

Abstract:In this note we provide a new way to capture operators involving Laguerre polynomials by composition of an integral operator and a discrete operator. The new operator so obtained is a discrete operator. We give three examples by considering composition of Szász-Durrmeyer operator, exponential-type operator related to and the Phillips operator, respectively, with Szász-Mirakyan operators. In all cases we obtain positive linear, discretely defined operators which are based on Laguerre polynomials and approximate functions on the positive real half-axis.

Abstract:We extended the classical Bernoulli and Euler numbers and polynomials to introduce the Laguerre-type Bernoulli and Euler numbers and related fractional polynomials. The case of fractional Bernoulli and Euler polynomials and numbers has already been considered in a previous paper of which this article is a further generalization. Furthermore, we exploited the Laguerre-type fractional exponentials to define a generalized form of the classical Laplace transform. We show some examples of these generalized mathematical entities, which were derived using the computer algebra system Mathematica© (latest v. 14.0).
