Abstract:We investigate the effects of the accretion of phantom energy with non-zero bulk viscosity onto a Morris-Thorne wormhole. We have found that if the bulk viscosity is large then the mass of wormhole increases rapidly as compared to small or zero bulk viscosity.

Abstract:We study the static and spherically symmetric wormhole spacetime configurations at present time in a viscous universe. Considering three classes of viscous models, i.e., bulk viscosity as a function of Hubble constant H0, present cosmic temperature T0 and dark energy density ρ0, respectively, we obtain several wormhole solutions. Through the analysis for the anisotropic solutions, we conclude that, to some extent, these three classes of viscous models have very high degeneracy with each other, and deviate slightly from the ideal fluid consequence. Subsequently, without the loss of generality, to investigate the traversabilities, energy conditions and stability for the wormhole solution, we study the wormhole solution of the constant redshift function of the viscous ωCDM model with a constant bulk viscosity coefficient. We obtain the following conclusions: the value of traversal velocity decreases for decreasing bulk viscosity, and the traversal velocity for a traveler depends on not only the wormhole geometry but also the effects of cosmological background evolution; the null energy condition will be violated more clearly when the bulk viscosity or the cosmic expansion velocity decreases; for the case of a positive surface energy density, the range of the junction radius decreases and the values of the parameter λ are further restricted when the throat radius of the wormhole r0/M increases, bulk viscosity coefficient ζ0 decreases and present-day Hubble parameter H0 decreases, respectively; for the case of a negative surface energy density, by increasing r0/M , decreasing ζ0 and increasing H0, the values of the parameter λ are less restricted, one may conclude that the total stability region increases, and the range of the junction radius increases, increases and decreases, respectively.

Abstract:The ghost-free bi-metric gravity theory is a viable theory of gravity that explores the interaction between a massless and a massive graviton and can be described in terms of two dynamical metrics. In this paper, we present an exact static, spherically symmetric vacuum solution within this theory. The solution is spatially Schwarzschild-de Sitter, with the value of the cosmological constant determined by the graviton mass and the interaction parameters of the theory. Notably, for specific parameter ranges, the solution represents a traversable Lorentzian wormhole that violates the weak energy condition near its throat. Furthermore, we have investigated the evolution of scalar and electromagnetic fields in this wormhole spacetime and observed the presence of arbitrarily long-lived quasi-resonant modes in the quasinormal spectrum.

Phantom wormhole solutions in a generic cosmological constant background

Abstract:There are a number of reasons to study wormholes with generic cosmological constant Λ. Recent observations indicate that the present accelerating expansion of the universe demands Λ > 0. On the other hand, some extended theories of gravitation, such as supergravity and superstring theories, possess vacuum states with Λ < 0. Even within the framework of general relativity, a negative cosmological constant permits black holes with horizons topologically different from the usual spherical ones. These solutions are convertible to wormhole solutions by adding some exotic matter. In this paper, the asymptotically flat wormhole solutions in a generic cosmological constant background are studied. By constructing a specific class of shape functions, a mass function, energy density, and pressure profile that support such a geometry are obtained. It is shown that for having such a geometry, the wormhole throat, r 0 , the cosmological constant, Λ, and the equation of state parameter, ω, should satisfy two specific conditions. The possibility of setting different values for the parameters of the model helps us to find exact solutions for the metric functions, mass functions, and energy–momentum profiles. At last, the volume integral quantifier, which provides useful information about the total amount of energy-condition violating matter, is discussed briefly.

Abstract:International Journal of Geometric Methods in Modern Physics, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we explore the existence of wormholes in the context of [math] gravity. The [math] theory is a curvature-matter coupled modified gravity that depends on an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar [math] and the trace of the stress-energy tensor [math]. In this work, we adopt two different choices for the matter Lagrangian density ([math] and [math]) and investigate the impact of each one on wormhole structure. By adequately specifying the redshift function and the shape function, we found a variety of exact wormhole solutions in the theory. Our finding indicates that for both classes of wormholes, the energy density is always positive throughout the spacetime, while the radial pressure is negative. This means exotic matter is necessary for the existence of wormholes in [math] gravity.

Abstract:This paper investigates static wormhole solutions through Noether symmetry approach in the context of energy–momentum squared gravity. This newly developed proposal resolves the singularity of big bang and yields feasible cosmological results in the early times. We consider the particular model of this theory to establish symmetry generators and corresponding conserved quantities. For constant and variable red-shift functions, we examine the presence of viable traversable wormhole solutions for both dust and non-dust matter distributions and analyze the stable state of these solutions. We investigate the graphical interpretation of null and weak energy bounds for normal and effective energy–momentum tensors to examine the presence of physically viable wormhole geometry. It is found that realistic traversable and stable wormhole solutions are obtained for a particular model of this gravity.
Viscous effect in the late time evolution of phantom universe

Abstract:We investigate the cosmological implications of a phantom dark energy model with bulk viscosity. We explore this model as a possible way to resolve the big rip singularity problem that plagues the phantom models. We use the latest type Ia supernova and Hubble parameter data to constrain the model parameters and find that the data favor a significant bulk viscosity over a non-constant potential term for the phantom field. We perform a dynamical analysis of the model and show that the only stable and physical attractor corresponds to a phantom-dominated era with a total equation of state that can be greater than $-1$ due to the viscosity. We also study the general effect of viscosity on the phantom field and the late time evolution of the universe. We apply the statefinder diagnostic to the model and find that it approaches a nearby fixed point asymptotically, indicating that the universe can escape the big rip singularity with the presence of bulk viscosity. We conclude that bulk viscosity can play an important role in affecting the late-time behavior as well as alleviating the singularity problem of the phantom universe.

Abstract:The aim of this manuscript is to study the traversable wormhole (WH) geometries in the curvature matter coupling gravity. We investigate static spherically symmetric Morris-Thorne WHs within the context of $f(R,L_m)$ gravity. To accomplish this, we examine the WH model in four different cases (i) linear $f(R,L_m)$ model, $f(R,L_m)=\alpha R+\beta L_m$ with anisotropic matter distribution having the relation $p_r=m p_t$ (ii) linear $f(R,L_m)$ model having anisotropic matter distribution along with the equation of state parameter, $p_r=\omega \rho$, (iii) non-linear model $f(R,L_m)=\dfrac{1}{2}R+L_m^\eta$ with specific form of energy density and (iv) non-linear $f(R,L_m)$ model, $f(R,L_m)=\dfrac{1}{2}R+(1+\xi R)L_m$ with isotropic matter distribution and having the linear relation between pressure and energy density, $p=\omega \rho$. Additionally, in the latter case, we consider a specific power-law shape function $b(r)=r_0 \left(\dfrac{r_0}{r}\right)^n$. Furthermore, we analyze the energy conditions for each WH model to verify their physical viability. As a novel outcome, we can see the validation of the null energy condition for the $f(R,L_m)$ model that suggests ruling out the necessity of exotic matter for the traversability of the WH. At last, an embedding diagram for each model is illustrated that describes the WH geometry.

Noncommutative wormhole in de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley like massive gravity

Abstract:The wormhole solution in dRGT massive gravity is examined in this paper in the background of non-commutative geometry. In order to derive the wormhole model, along with the zero tidal force, we assume that the matter distribution is given by the Gaussian and Lorentzian distributions. The shape function in both models involves the massive gravity parameters m2c1 and m2c2. But the spacetime loses its asymptotic flatness due to the action of the massive gravity parameter. It is noticed that the asymptotic flatness is affected by the repulsive effect induced in the massive gravitons that push the spacetime geometry very strongly. We observed that each model violates the null energy criteria, indicating the presence of exotic matter which is necessary to sustain the wormholes. The exotic matter is measured using the volume integral quantifier. Moreover, it is discovered that the model is stable under the hydrostatic equilibrium condition by utilizing the TOV equation. Finally, our research encompassed an exploration of the repulsive influence exerted by gravity. Our findings demonstrated that the presence of repulsive gravity results in a negative deflection angle for photons following null geodesics. Remarkably, we consistently observed negative values for the deflection angle across all values of r0 in the two scenarios examined. This consistent negativity unequivocally signifies the manifestation of the repulsive gravity effect.

Non-Commutative Effects on Wormholes in Rastall-Rainbow Gravity

Abstract:In this present article, we explore the physical properties and characteristics of static, spherically symmetric wormholes in the background of Rastall-Rainbow gravity. The Rastall-Rainbow gravity theory has recently been proposed as a combination of two theories, namely, the Rastall theory and the Rainbow description. We implemented noncommutativity by adopting two different distributions of energy density (Gaussian and Lorentzian) in the Morris and Thorne metric. We solve the field equations analytically and discuss all the properties of wormholes depending on the two model parameters. Notably, for specific parameter ranges, one can alleviate the violation of the WEC at the throat and its neighbourhood.

Properties of wormhole model in de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley like massive gravity with specific matter density

Abstract:In the conventional method of studying wormhole (WH) geometry, traversability requires the presence of exotic matter, which also provides negative gravity effects to keep the wormhole throat open. In dRGT massive gravity theory, we produce two types of WH solutions in our present paper. Selecting a static and spherically symmetric metric for the background geometry, we obtain the field equations for exact WH solutions. We derive the WH geometry completely for the two different choices of redshift functions. All the energy conditions including the NEC are violated by the obtained WH solutions. Various plots are used to illustrate the behavior of the wormhole for a suitable range of $m^2c_1$, where $m$ is the graviton mass. It is observed that the photon deflection angle becomes negative for all values of $m^2c_1$ as a result of the repulsive action of gravity. It is also studied that the repulsive impact of massive gravitons pushes the spacetime geometry so strongly that the asymptotic flatness is affected. The Volume Integral Quantifier (VIQ) has also been computed to determine the amounts of matter that violate the null energy condition. The complexity factor of the proposed model is also discussed.

Abstract:Within 2+1-dimensional cosmological new massive gravity, we consider thin-shell and thin-shell wormhole construction. For this, we introduce first, the junction conditions apt for the fourth order terms in the action of the theory. Then, by employing some specific static solutions in new massive gravity, we study the characteristics of associated thin-shells and thin-shell wormholes. Our finding suggests that, firstly, there cannot exist any thin-shells regarding our chosen solutions of cosmological new massive gravity, and secondly, the constructed thin-shell wormhole does not need to be symmetric. More importantly, the thin-shell wormhole, if ever forms, possesses null energy density and null angular pressure on its throat which preferable to their negative-valued counterparts.

In this paper, we have presented bulk viscous cosmological model of the universe in the modified gravity in which the Lagrangian of the gravitational action contains a general function [math], where [math] denotes torsion, for flat Friedmann–Robertson–Walker spacetime with isotropic fluid. We have studied cosmological solution in [math] theory of gravity, especially of a particular preference [math], where [math] and [math] are coupling constants, in the presence of bulk viscosity described by Eckart theory, Truncated Israel Stewart theory and Full Israel Stewart theory. The physical and geometrical prospectives of the models in Eckart, Truncated Israel Stewart theory and Full Israel Stewart theory are deliberated in details. The investigation of the variation of bulk viscous pressure, energy density, scale factor, Hubble parameter and deceleration parameter with cosmic growth is furnished in the relevant theories. The models are analyzed by comparison with recent observational data. The cosmological models are well-matched with observations.

Abstract:Modern Physics Letters A, Ahead of Print. Gravitational waves result from various spacetime-perturbing events which are due to various kinds of motions and changing distributions of mass. Most studies on the source of gravitational waves were derived from the dynamic character of two binary compacted massive objects such as black holes and neutron stars, therefore gravitational waves which originated from a single event source would be of interest. In this paper, we derive the stress–energy tensor (SET) of a braneworld wormhole and demonstrate how the bulk-induced gravitational waves influence the SET of the wormhole. Thus, this study not only suggests a single source of gravitational waves, but also proves the existence of higher dimensional space by providing a formulation, namely, the SET at the wormhole throat affected by the bulk-induced gravitational waves.

Abstract:We present a simple (microscopic) model in which bulk viscosity plays a role in explaining the present acceleration of the universe. The effect of bulk viscosity on the Friedmann equations is to turn the pressure into an "effective" pressure containing the bulk viscosity. For a sufficiently large bulk viscosity, the effective pressure becomes negative and could mimic a dark energy equation of state. Our microscopic model includes self-interacting spin-zero particles (for which the bulk viscosity is known) that are added to the usual energy content of the universe. We study both background equations and linear perturbations in this model. We show that a dark energy behavior is obtained for reasonable values of the two parameters of the model (i.e. the mass and coupling of the spin-zero particles) and that linear perturbations are well-behaved. There is no apparent fine tuning involved. We also discuss the conditions under which hydrodynamics holds, in particular that the spin-zero particles must be in local equilibrium today for viscous effects to be important.

Geodesic analysis and steady accretion on a traversable wormhole

Abstract:In this work, we analyze the behavior of light and matter as they pass near and through a traversable wormhole. In particular, we study the trajectories of massive and massless particles and the dust accretion around a traversable wormhole previously reported in Eur. Phys. J. C \textbf{82} (2022) no.7, 605. For massive particles, we integrate the trajectory equation for ingoing and outgoing geodesics and classify the orbits of particles scattered by the wormhole in accordance with their asymptotic behavior far from the throat. We represent all the time--like trajectories in an embedding surface where it is shown explicitly the trajectories of i) particles that deviate from the throat and remain in the same universe, ii) particles that traverse the wormhole to another universe, and iii) particles that get trapped in the wormhole in unstable circular orbits. For the massless particles, we numerically integrate the trajectory equation to show the ray-tracing around the wormhole specifying the particles that traverse the wormhole and those that are only deviated by the throat. For the study of accretion, we consider the steady and spherically symmetric accretion of dust. Our results show that the wormhole parameters can significantly affect the behavior of light and matter near the wormhole. Some comparisons with the behavior of matter around black holes are made.

Abstract:The firm observational confirmation of the late-time acceleration of the universe expansion has proposed a major challenge to the theoretical foundations of cosmology and the explanation of the acceleration mechanism requires the introduction of either a simply cosmological constant, or of a mysterious dark energy component (time dependent or modified gravities), filling the universe and dominating its current expansionary evolution. Universally given that the universe is permeated by a dark energy fluid, therefore, we should also investigate the astrophysical scale properties from the dark energy effects. In the present paper, the exact solutions of spherically-symmetrical Einstein field equations describing wormholes supported by phantom energy that violates the null energy condition from Shan-Chen fluid description are obtained. We have considered the important case that the model parameter $\psi\approx1$ which corresponds to the `` saturation effect ", and this regime corresponds to an effective form of `` asymptotic freedom " for the fluids, but occurring at cosmological rather than subnuclear scales. Then we investigate the allowed range values of the model parameters $g$ and $\omega$ when the space-time metrics describe wormholes and discuss the possible singularities of the solutions, finding that the obtained spacetimes are geodesically complete. Moreover, we construct two traversable wormholes through matching our obtained interior solutions to the exterior Schwarzschild solutions and calculate out the total mass of the wormhole when the wormhole throat size $r\leq a$ or $r\leq b$, respectively. Finally, we acquire that the surface stress-energy $\sigma$ is zero and the surface tangential pressure $\wp$ is positive when discussing the surface stresses of the solutions and analyze the traversable wormholes.

Modified Gravity Model $f(Q,T)$ and Wormhole Solution

Abstract:We investigate wormhole solutions using the modified gravity model $f(Q,T)$ with viscosity and aim to find a solution for the existence of wormholes mathematically without violating the energy conditions. We show that there is no need to define a wormhole from exotic matter and analyze the equations with numerical analysis to establish weak energy conditions. In the numerical analysis, we found that the appropriate values of the parameters can maintain the weak energy conditions without the need for exotic matter. Adjusting the parameters of the model can increase or decrease the rate of positive energy density or radial and tangential pressures. According to the numerical analysis conducted in this paper, the weak energy conditions are established in the whole space if $\alpha< 0$, $12.56 < \beta < 25.12$ or $\alpha > 0$, $\beta > 25.12$. The analysis also showed that the supporting matter of the wormhole is near normal matter, indicating that the generalized $f(Q,T)$ model with viscosity has an acceptable parameter space to describe a wormhole without the need for exotic matter.

Abstract:The bulk viscosity is introduced to model unified dark matter. The viscous unified model assumes the universe is filled with a single fluid with the bulk viscosity. We review the general framework of the viscous cosmology. The Hubble parameter has a direct connection with the bulk viscosity coefficient. For concrete form of the bulk viscosity, the Hubble parameter which has the scaling relation with the redshift can be obtained. We discuss two viscosity models and the cosmological evolution to which they lead. Using SNe Ia data, the viscosity model can be fitted. We briefly review the fitting method here.

Abstract:Holding a Morris-Thorne wormhole open requires a violation of the null energy condition, calling for the need for so-called exotic matter near the throat. Many researchers consider exotic matter to be completely unphysical in classical general relativity. It has been shown, however, that the existence of an extra macroscopic dimension can resolve this issue: the throat could be lined with ordinary matter, while the extra dimension is then responsible for the unavoidable energy violation. The purpose of this paper is to show that the extra dimension can be microscopic, a result that is consistent with string theory.
