Abstract:Let $A\to C$ be a proper surjective morphism from a smooth connected quasi-projective commutative group scheme of dimension 2 to a smooth curve. The construction of generalized Kummer varieties gives a proper morphism $A^{[[n]]}\to C^{((n))}$. We show that the perverse filtration associated with this morphism is multiplicative.

Abstract:We define the Weierstrass filtration for Teichmuller curves and construct the Harder-Narasimhan filtration of the Hodge bundle of a Teichmuller curve in hyperelliptic loci and low-genus nonvarying strata. As a result we obtain the sum of Lyapunov exponents of Teichmuller curves in these strata.

Abstract:The affinization morphism for the stack $\mathfrak{M}(\Pi_Q)$ of representations of a preprojective algebra $\Pi_Q$ is a local model for the morphism from the stack of objects in a general 2-Calabi-Yau category to the good moduli space. We show that the derived direct image of the dualizing complex along this morphism is pure, and admits a decomposition in the sense of the Beilinson-Bernstein-Deligne-Gabber decomposition theorem. We introduce a new perverse filtration on the Borel-Moore homology of $\mathfrak{M}(\Pi_Q)$, using this decomposition. We show that the zeroth piece of the resulting filtration on the cohomological Hall algebra built out of the Borel-Moore homology of $\mathfrak{M}(\Pi_Q)$ is isomorphic to the universal enveloping algebra of an associated BPS Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_{\Pi_Q}$. This Lie algebra is defined via the Kontsevich-Soibelman theory of critical cohomological Hall algebras for 3-Calabi-Yau categories. We then lift this Lie algebra to a Lie algebra object in the category of perverse sheaves on the coarse moduli space of $\Pi_Q$-modules, and use this algebra structure to prove results about the summands appearing in the above decomposition theorem. In particular, we prove that the intersection cohomology of singular spaces of semistable $\Pi_Q$-modules provide "cuspidal cohomology" - a conjecturally complete subspace of canonical generators for $\mathfrak{g}_{\Pi_Q}$.

Abstract:Let $S\to C$ be a smooth quasi-projective surface properly fibered onto a smooth curve. We prove that the multiplicativity of the perverse filtration on $H^*(S^{[n]},\mathbb{Q})$ associated with the natural map $S^{[n]}\to C^{(n)}$ implies that $S\to C$ is an elliptic fibration. The converse is also true when $S\to C$ is a Hitchin-type elliptic fibration.

Abstract:We prove an asymptotic product formula for the refined BPS invariants associated with a local del Pezzo surface. Our formula governs the cohomological stabilization of the perverse filtration on the intersection cohomology of the moduli space of 1-dimensional semistable sheaves on a del Pezzo surface. Combined with the theory of Fourier transform of Maulik--Shen--Yin, we show that the perverse filtration matches asymptotically with the Chern filtration defined via tautological classes. In the case of the projective plane, our results resolve conjectures of Kononov--Pi--Shen.

Abstract:We explore connections between three structures associated with the cohomology of the moduli of 1-dimensional stable sheaves on $\mathbb{P}^2$: perverse filtrations, tautological classes, and refined BPS invariants for local $\mathbb{P}^2$. We formulate the $P=C$ conjecture identifying the perverse filtration with the Chern filtration for the free part of the cohomology. This can be viewed as an analog of de Cataldo--Hausel--Migliorini's $P=W$ conjecture for Hitchin systems. Our conjecture is compatible with the enumerative invariants of local $\mathbb{P}^2$ calculated by refined Pandharipande--Thomas theory or Nekrasov partition functions. It provides a cohomological lift of a conjectural product formula of the asymptotic refined BPS invariants. We prove the $P=C$ conjecture for degrees $\leq 4$.

Abstract:Let $Q$ be a finite quiver without loops and $\mathcal{Q}_{\alpha}$ be the Lusztig category for any dimension vector $\alpha$. The purpose of this paper is to prove that all Frobenius eigenvalues of the $i$-th cohomology $\mathcal{H}^i(\mathcal{L})|_x$ for a simple perverse sheaf $\mathcal{L}\in \mathcal{Q}_{\alpha}$ and $x\in \mathbb{E}_{\alpha}^{F^n}=\mathbb{E}_{\alpha}(\mathbb{F}_{q^n})$ are equal to $(\sqrt{q^n})^{i}$ as a conjecture given by Schiffmann (\cite{Schiffmann2}). As an application, we prove the existence of a class of Hall polynomials.

Abstract:In this article, we prove the $t$-exactness of a Brylinski-Radon transformation taking values in sheaves on flag varieties. This implies several weak Lefschetz type results for cohomology. In particular, we obtain de Cataldo-Migliorini's P=Dec(F) and Beilinson's basic lemma, the latter was an important ingredient in their proof of P=Dec(F). Our methods also allow the sharpening of Esnault-Katz's cohomological divisibility theorem and estimates for the Hodge level. Finally, we upgrade P=Dec(F) to an equivalence of functors which is also valid over a base.

Abstract:Inspired by the Katz-Mazur theorem on crystalline cohomology and by the numerical experiments of Eskin, Kontsevich and Zorich, we conjecture that the polygon of the Lyapunov spectrum lies above (or on) the Harder-Narasimhan polygon of the Hodge bundle over any Teichmuller curve. We also discuss the connections between the two polygons and the integral of eigenvalues of the curvature of the Hodge bundle by using the works of Atiyah and Bott, Forni, and Moller. We obtain several applications to Teichmuller dynamics conditional on the conjecture.

Using positive characteristic methods, we give a fairly exhaustive answer to this question. An example application of our techniques is: if dim ⁡ ( X ) ≥ 3 \dim (X)\geq 3 , Y Y is smooth, Ω Y 1 \Omega ^1_Y is nef, and dim ⁡ ( Y ) > dim ⁡ ( D ) , \dim (Y)> \dim (D), the restriction map r r is an isomorphism. Taking Y Y to be the classifying space of a finite group B G BG , the moduli space of pointed curves M g , n \mathscr {M}_{g,n} , the moduli space of principally polarized Abelian varieties A g \mathscr {A}_g , certain period domains, and various other moduli spaces, one obtains many new and classical Lefschetz hyperplane theorems.

Filtrations on quantum cohomology via Morse-Bott-Floer Spectral Sequences

Abstract:Using Morse-Bott-Floer spectral sequences, we describe a filtration by ideals on quantum cohomology for symplectic manifolds with a Hamiltonian $S^1$-action that extends to a pseudoholomorphic $\mathbb{C}^*$-action. These spaces include all Conical Symplectic Resolutions, in particular all Quiver Varieties. Our Morse-Bott-Floer spectral sequences give explicit descriptions of birth-death phenomena of the barcode of the persistence module associated to the $\mathbb{C}^*$-action, defined in our earlier paper. This paper contains the foundational work to rigorously construct a filtration on Floer complexes, announced in that earlier paper. We also include a substantial appendix on Morse-Bott-Floer theory, where a large part of the technical difficulties of the paper are dealt with. We compute a plethora of explicit examples, each highlighting various features, for Springer resolutions, ADE resolutions, and several Slodowy varieties of type A. We also consider certain Higgs moduli spaces, for which we compare our filtration with the well-known P=W filtration.

Abstract:We prove that Floer theory induces a filtration by ideals on equivariant quantum cohomology of symplectic manifolds equipped with a $\mathbb{C}^*$-action. In particular, this gives rise to Hilbert-Poincaré polynomials on ordinary cohomology that depend on Floer theory. En route, the paper develops structural properties of filtrations on three versions of equivariant Floer cohomology. We obtain an explicit presentation for equivariant symplectic cohomology in the Calabi-Yau and Fano settings.

The Depth Poset of a Filtered Lefschetz Complex

Abstract:Taking a discrete approach to functions and dynamical systems, this paper integrates the combinatorial gradients in Forman's discrete Morse theory with persistent homology to forge a unified approach to function simplification. The two crucial ingredients in this effort are the Lefschetz complex, which focuses on the homology at the expense of the geometry of the cells, and the shallow pairs, which are birth-death pairs that can double as vectors in discrete Morse theory. The main new concept is the depth poset on the birth-death pairs, which captures all simplifications achieved through canceling shallow pairs. One of its linear extensions is the ordering by persistence.

Filtrations on quantum cohomology from the Floer theory of $\mathbb{C}^*$-actions

Abstract:We construct a filtration by ideals on quantum cohomology for symplectic manifolds with a Hamiltonian $S^1$-action that extends to a pseudoholomorphic $\mathbb{C}^*$-action. These spaces include all Conical Symplectic Resolutions, in particular all Quiver Varieties. In particular, we obtain a family of filtrations on singular cohomology for any Conical Symplectic Resolution, that is sensitive to the choice of $\mathbb{C}^*$-action. The symplectic form is rarely exact at infinity for these spaces, so substantial foundational work is carried out to rigorously define Floer theory, in particular symplectic cohomology. Using Floer theory, we construct a periodic persistence module, giving rise to a graded periodic barcode associated to the $\mathbb{C}^*$-action. This encodes birth-death phenomena of Floer invariants. Our filtrations can be viewed as a Floer-theoretic analogue of Atiyah-Bott filtrations, arising from stratifying a manifold by gradient flowlines of a Morse-Bott function, but they are distinct from those and they can detect non-topological properties of the quantum product.

Abstract:Motivated by the polynomial representation theory of the general linear group and the theory of symplectic singularities, we study a category of perverse sheaves with coefficients in a field $k$ on any affine unimodular hypertoric variety. Our main result is that this is a highest weight category whose Ringel dual is the corresponding category for the Gale dual hypertoric variety. On the way to proving our main result, we confirm a conjecture of Finkelberg-Kubrak in the case of hypertoric varieties. We also show that our category is equivalent to representations of a combinatorially-defined algebra, recently introduced in a related paper.

Abstract:In this paper we show some Lefschetz-type theorems for the effective cone of Hyperkähler varieties. In particular we are able to show that the inclusion of any smooth ample divisor induces an isomorphism of effective cones. Moreover we deduce a similar statement for some effective exceptional divisors, which yields the computation of the effective cone of e.g. projectivized cotangent bundles and some projectivized Lazarsfeld--Mukai bundles.

Abstract:We prove a conjecture which expresses the bigraded Poisson-de Rham homology of the nilpotent cone of a semisimple Lie algebra in terms of the generalized (one-variable) Kostka polynomials, via a formula suggested by Lusztig. This allows us to construct a canonical family of filtrations on the flag variety cohomology, and hence on irreducible representations of the Weyl group, whose Hilbert series are given by the generalized Kostka polynomials. We deduce consequences for the cohomology of all Springer fibers. In particular, this computes the grading on the zeroth Poisson homology of all classical finite W-algebras, as well as the filtration on the zeroth Hochschild homology of all quantum finite W-algebras, and we generalize to all homology degrees. As a consequence, we deduce a conjecture of Proudfoot on symplectic duality, relating in type A the Poisson homology of Slodowy slices to the intersection cohomology of nilpotent orbit closures. In the last section, we give an analogue of our main theorem in the setting of mirabolic D-modules.
