Abstract:We describe a folklore construction of an exceptional representation of Sp(4,F_q). This representation has the following remarkable combination of properties, namely it is cuspidal, degenerate and unipotent.

Abstract:We show that for any irreducible representation of Sp4n(Fq), the subspace of all its Sp2n(Fq2)-invariants is at most one-dimensional. In terms of Lusztig symbols, we give a complete list of irreducible unipotent representations of Sp4n(Fq) which have a non-zero Sp2n(Fq2)-invariant and, in particular, we prove that every irreducible unipotent cuspidal representation has a one-dimensional subspace of Sp2n(Fq2)-invariants. As an application, we give an elementary proof of the fact that the unipotent cuspidal representation is defined over Q, which was proved by Lusztig in [12].

Abstract:Recently Freed and Hopkins [11] proved that there is no parity anomaly in M-theory on pin(+) manifolds in the low-energy field theory approximation, and they also developed an algebraic theory of cubic forms. Earlier Witten [33] proved the anomaly cancellation for spin manifolds by introducing the E-8-bundle technique. Motivated by the cubic forms and the anomaly cancellation formulas of Witten-Freed-Hopkins, we give some new cubic forms on spin, spinc(e), spin(omega 2) and orientable 12-manifolds respectively. We relate them to eta-invariants when the manifolds are with boundary, and mod 2 indices on 10 dimensional characteristic submanifolds when the manifolds are spinc or spin(omega 2). Our method of producing these cubic forms is a combination of (generalized) Witten classes and the character of the basic representation of affine E-8. (C) 2021 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a non Archimedean local field with odd residual characteristic, and let $K$ be a hyperspecial maximal compact subgroup of the $p$-adic symplectic group $G=\mathrm{Sp}_4(F)$. Let $\mathfrak{s}$ be an inertial class for $G$ in the Bernstein decomposition of the category of smooth representations of $G$, which is attached to a proper Levi subgroup $L$ of $G$. We prove that the $\mathfrak{s}$-typical irreducible representations of $K$ are the irreducible components of $\mathrm{Ind}_{J_{\mathfrak{s}}}^{K}(\lambda_{\mathfrak{s}})$, where $(J_{\mathfrak{s}},\lambda_{\mathfrak{s}})$ is an $\mathfrak{s}$-type for $G$ such that $J_{\mathfrak{s}}\subset K$, and $(J_{\mathfrak{s}},\lambda_{\mathfrak{s}})$ is a $G$-cover of a Bushnell-Kutzko maximal simple type for $L$.

Abstract:This article looks at subconics of order $q$ of $PG(2,q^2)$ and characterizes them in the Bruck-Bose representation in $PG(4,q)$. In common with other objects in the Bruck-Bose representation, the characterisation uses the transversals of the regular line spread $S$ associated with the Bruck-Bose <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://representation.By" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> working in the Bose representation of $PG(2,q^2)$ in $PG(5,q)$, we give a geometric explanation as to why the transversals of the regular spread $S$ are intrinsic to the characterisation of varieties of $PG(2,q^2)$.

Abstract:The fuzzy algebra of S^4 is discussed by quantum deformation. To this end we embed the classical S^4 in the Kaehler coset space SO(5)/U(2). The harmonic functions of S^4 are constructed in terms of the complex coordinates of SO(5)/U(2). Being endowed with the symplectic structure they can be deformed by the Fedosov formalism. We show that they generate the fuzzy algebra \hat A_\infty (S^4) under the * product defined therein, by using the Darboux coordinate system. The fuzzy spheres of higher even dimensions can be discussed similarly. We give basic arguments for the generalization as well.

Abstract:In this short note we construct an embedding of the planar algebra for Rep(Uq(sl3)) ̄ at q=e2πi124 into the graph planar algebra of di Francesco and Zuber's candidate graph E412 . Via the graph planar algebra embedding theorem we thus construct a rank 11 module category over Rep(Uq(sl3)) ̄ whose graph for action by the vector representation is E412 . This fills a small gap in the literature on the construction of Rep(Uq(sl3)) ̄ module categories. As a consequence of our construction, we obtain the principal graphs of subfactors constructed abstractly by Evans and Pugh.

Abstract:In this paper, we compute the conjugacy classes and the list of irreducible characters of GSp(4,q), where q is odd. We also determine precisely which irreducible characters are non-cuspidal and which are generic. These characters are then used to compute dimensions of certain subspaces of fixed vectors of smooth admissible non-supercuspidal representations of GSp(4,F), where F is a non-archimedean local field of characteristic zero with residue field of order q.

Abstract:In this paper, the irreducible representations of the coordinate ring Oq(spC2n) of quantum symplectic space are classified. Especially, the De Concini–Kac–Procesi conjecture is proved to be true for this algebra. The main steps are the computation of the center and the degree of the algebra Oq(spC2n) by using the associated quasipolynomial algebra Oq(spC2n), find some “good” points in the underlying symplectic leaves and construct some quasipolynomial algebras correspond to these “good” points.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a non-Archimedean local field with odd characteristic $p$. Let $N$ be a positive integer and $G=Sp_{2N}(F)$. By work of Lomelí on $\gamma$-factors of pairs and converse theorems, a generic supercuspidal representation $\pi$ of $G$ has a transfer to a smooth irreducible representation $\Pi_\pi$ of $GL_{2N+1}(F)$. In turn the Weil-Deligne representation $\Sigma_\pi$ associated to $\Pi_\pi$ by the Langlands correspondence determines a Langlands parameter $\phi_\pi$ for $\pi$. That process produces a Langlands correspondence for generic cuspidal representations of $G$. In this paper we take $\pi$ to be simple in the sense of Gross and Reeder, and from the explicit construction of $\pi$ we describe $\Pi_\pi$ explicitly. The method we use is the same as in our previous paper <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2310.20455" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2310.20455">arXiv:2310.20455</a>, where we treated the case where $F$ is a $p$-adic field, and $\pi$ a simple supercuspidal representation of $G=Sp_{2N}(F)$. It relies on a criterion due to Moeglin on the reducibility of representations parabolically induced from $GL_M(F)\times G$ for varying positive integers $M$. We extend this criterion to the case when $F$ has any positive characteristic. The main new feature consists in relating reducibility to $\gamma$-factors for pairs.

Abstract:In this paper various representations of the exceptional Lie algebra G2 are investigated in a purely algebraic manner, and multi-boson/multi-fermion realizations are obtained. Matrix elements of the master representation, which is defined on the space of the universal enveloping algebra of G2, are explicitly determined. From this master representation, different indecomposable representations defined on invariant subspaces or quotient spaces with respect to these invariant subspaces are discussed. Especially, the Verma module are investigated in detail to construct the Dyson-Maleev-like realization of G2. After obtaining explicit forms of all twelve extremal vectors of the Verma module with the dominant highest weight $\Lambda $ , representations with their respective highest weights related to $\Lambda$ are systematically discussed. Moreover, this method can be used to construct fermion realizations from the irreducible representations, without referring to the Lie algebra chains, and a three-fermion realization is constructed as an example.

Abstract:A way to construct the natural representation of the quantized affine algebra Uv(sl̂l) is via the deformed Fock space by Misra and Miwa. This relates the classes of Weyl modules for Uq(slN) were q is a root of unity to the action of Uv(sl̂l) as N tends toward infinity. In this paper we investigate the situation outside of type A . In classical types, we construct embeddings of the Grothendieck group of finite dimensional Uq(g) -modules into Fock spaces of different charges and define an action of an affine quantum symmetric pair that plays the role of the quantized affine algebra. We describe how the action is related to the linkage principal for quantum groups at a root of unity and tensor product multiplicities.

Abstract:Given an irreducible representation of $SL_2(F_q)$ for an odd prime $q\geq 5$, we find the dimension of the space of cusp forms with respect to the full modular group taking values in the representation space. The dimension equals the multiplicity of the representation in the space of classical cusp forms with respect to the principal congruence subgroup of level $q$.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a totally real field in which $p$ is unramified and $B$ be a quaternion algebra which splits at at most one infinite place. Let $\overline{r}:\mathrm{Gal}(\overline{F}/F)\to \mathrm{GL}_2(\overline{\mathbb{F}}_p)$ be a modular Galois representation which satisfies the Taylor-Wiles hypotheses. Assume that for some fixed place $v|p$, $B$ ramifies at $v$ and $F_v$ is isomorphic to $ \mathbb{Q}_p$ and $\overline{r}$ is generic at $v$. We prove that the admissible smooth representations of the quaternion algebra over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ coming from mod $p$ cohomology of Shimura varieties associated to $B$ have Gelfand-Kirillov dimension $1$. As an application we prove that the degree two Scholze's functor vanishes on supersingular representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb{Q}_p)$. We also prove some finer structure theorem about the image of Scholze's functor in the reducible case.

Abstract:Let $D$ denote a quaternion division algebra over a non-archimedean local field $F$ with characteristic zero. Let $Sp_n(D)$ be the unique non-split inner form of the symplectic group $Sp_{2n}(F)$. An irreducible admissible representation $(\pi, V)$ of $GL_{n}(D)$ is said to have a symplectic model (or said to be $Sp_n(D)$-distinguished) if there exists a linear functional $\phi$ on $V$ such that $\phi(\pi(h)v) = \phi(v)$ for all $v \in V$ and $h \in Sp_n(D)$. This article classifies those ladder representations of $GL_n(D)$ that possess a symplectic model (i.e., those representations that are $Sp_n(D)$-distinguished). Recently, Prasad conjectured that non-supercuspidal discrete series representations of $GL_n(D)$ do not admit a symplectic model. We confirm this for the Steinberg representations, which serve as canonical examples of discrete series representations. Furthermore, we demonstrate the hereditary nature of the symplectic model for induced representations derived from finite-length representations. In addition, we prove a part of Prasad's conjecture, which provides a family of irreducible unitary representations, all equipped with a symplectic model.

Almost-fuchsian structures on disk bundles over a surface

Abstract:Considering an integer $d>0$, we show the existence of convex-cocompactrepresentations of surface groups into SO(4,1) admitting an embedded minimal map withcurvatures in $(-1,1)$ and whose associated hyperbolic 4-manifolds are disk bundles of degreed over the surface, provided the genus $g$ of the surface is large enough. We also show that we can realize these representations as complex variation of Hodge structures. This gives examples of quasicircles in $\mathbb{S}^3$ bounding superminimal disks in $\mathbb{H}^4$ of arbitrarily small second fundamental form. Those are examples of generalized almost-Fuchsian representations which are not deformations of Fuchsian representations.

Abstract:In this paper, we study nonmaximal representations of surface groups in PU(2,1). We show the existence in genus large enough, of convex-cocompact representations of nonmaximal Toledo invariant admitting a unique equivariant minimal surface, which is holomorphic and of second fundamental form arbitrarily small. These examples can be obtained for any Toledo invariant of the form 2-2g+(2/3)d, provided g is large compared to d. When d is not divisible by 3, this yields examples of convex-cocompact representations in PU(2,1) which do not lift to SU(2,1).
