Abstract:In this paper, we generalize the Shirshov's Composition Lemma by replacing the monomial order for others. By using Groebner-Shirshov bases, the normal forms of HNN extension of a group and the alternating group are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct the so-called q-Schur modules as left principle ideals of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras, and prove that they are isomorphic to those cell modules defined in [3] and [10] in any level r. After that, mainly, we prove that these q-Schur modules are free and construct their basis. This result gives the new versions of some several known results such as standard basis and the branching theorem. With the help of this realizations and the new basis, we give a new proof of the Branch rule of Weyl modules which was first discovered by Wada in [20].

Abstract:A new construction of a free inverse semigroup was obtained by Poliakova and Schein in 2005. Based on their result, we find a Groebner-Shirshov basis of a free inverse semigroup relative to the deg-lex order of words. In particular, we give the (unique and shortest) Groebner-Shirshov normal forms in the classes of equivalent words of a free inverse semigroup together with the Groebner-Shirshov algorithm to transform any word to its normal form.

Abstract:E. Chibrikov defined regular monomials (here called Chibrikov words) and proved that they form a linear basis of a free Sabinin algebra. In this paper, we introduce the notion of a generalized anti-commutative algebra and establish Gröbner-Shirshov basis theory for those algebras. We provide another approach to the definition of Chibrikov words i.e. we find a generalized anti-commutative Gröbner-Shirshov S of a free Sabinin algebra such that Irr(S) is the set of all Chibrikov words on X, where Irr(S) is the set of all normal Ω-words not containing maximal monomials of polynomials from S. Following from Gröbner-Shirshov basis theory of generalized anti-commutative algebras, the set Irr(S) is a linear basis of a free Sabinin algebra.

Abstract:We establish Gröbner--Shirshov bases theory for commutative dialgebras. We show that for any ideal $I$ of $Di[X]$, $I$ has a unique reduced Gröbner--Shirshov basis, where $Di[X]$ is the free commutative dialgebra generated by a set $X$, in particular, $I$ has a finite Gröbner--Shirshov basis if $X$ is finite. As applications, we give normal forms of elements of an arbitrary commutative disemigroup, prove that the word problem for finitely presented commutative dialgebras (disemigroups) is solvable, and show that if $X$ is finite, then the problem whether two ideals of $Di[X]$ are identical is solvable. We construct a Gröbner--Shirshov basis in associative dialgebra $Di\langle X\rangle$ by lifting a Gröbner--Shirshov basis in $Di[X]$.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a Gröbner-Shirshov basis of the braid group $B_{n+1}$ in Adyan-Thurston generators. We also deal with the braid group of type $\bf{B}_{n}$. As results, we obtain a new algorithm for getting the Adyan-Thurston normal form, and a new proof that the braid semigroup $B^+_{n+1}$ is the subsemigroup in $B_{n+1}$.

Abstract:We study a question which can be roughly stated as follows: Given a (unital or nonunital) algebra $A$ together with a Gr\"obner-Shirshov basis $G$, consider the free operated algebra $B$ over $A$, such that the operator satisfies some polynomial identities $\Phi$ which are Gr\"obner-Shirshov in the sense of Guo et al., when doesthe union $\Phi\cup G$ will be an operated Gr\"obner-Shirshov basis for $B$? We answer this question in the affirmative under a mild condition in our previous work with Wang. When this condition is satisfied, $\Phi\cup G$ is an operated Gr\"obner-Shirshov basis for $ B$ and as a consequence, we also get a linear basis of $B$. However, the condition could not be applied directly to differential type algebras introduced by Guo, Sit and Zhang, including usual differential algebras. This paper solves completely this problem for differential type algebras.Some new monomial orders are introduced which, together with some known ones, permit the application of the previous result to most of differential type algebras, thus providing new operated GS bases and linear bases for these differential type algebras.Versions are presented both for unital and nonunital algebras. However, a class of examples are also presented, for which the natural expectation in the question is wrong and these examples are dealt with by direct inspection.

Abstract:We give a criterion for a collection of polynomials to be a universal Gröbner basis for an ideal in terms of the multidegree of the closure of the corresponding affine variety in $(\mathbb{P}^1)^N$. This criterion can be used to give simple proofs of several existing results on universal Gröbner bases. We introduce fine Schubert polynomials, which record the multidegrees of the closures of matrix Schubert varieties in $(\mathbb{P}^1)^{n^2}$. We compute the fine Schubert polynomials of permutations $w$ where the coefficients of the Schubert polynomials of $w$ and $w^{-1}$ are all either 0 or 1, and we use this to give a universal Gröbner basis for the ideal of the matrix Schubert variety of such a permutation.

Abstract:We construct a finite convergent semi-quadratic presentation for the Chinese monoid by adding column generators and using combinatorial properties of insertion algorithms on Chinese staircases. We extend this presentation into a coherent one whose generators are columns, rewriting rules are defined by insertion algorithms, and whose syzygies are defined as relations among insertion algorithms. Such a coherent presentation is used for representations of Chinese monoids, in particular, it is a way to describe actions of Chinese monoids on categories.

Abstract:In this paper, for an algebra, a multiplicative basis with a weakly admissible order is introduced as an invariant under “almost” Morita equivalence. It is shown that an algebra with a weakly ordered multiplicative basis is a quotient of its corresponding generalized path algebra, which is a generalization of the classical Gabriel structure theorem. Finally, it is proven that the skew group algebra of a cyclic group over an algebra with an ordered multiplicative basis has a weakly ordered multiplicative basis.

Abstract:One of the natural ways to prove that the Hall words (Philip Hall, 1933) consist of a basis of a free Lie algebra is a direct construction: to start with a linear space spanned by Hall words, to define the Lie product of Hall words, and then to check that the product yields the Lie identities (Marshall Hall, 1950). Here we suggest another way using the Composition-Diamond lemma for free anti-commutative (non-associative) algebras (A.I. Shirshov, 1962).

Abstract:In this paper, we give a Gröbner-Shirshov basis of the free dendriform algebra as a quotient algebra of an $L$-algebra. As applications, we obtain a normal form of the free dendriform algebra. Moreover, Hilbert series and Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of finitely generated free dendriform algebras are obtained.

Abstract:In this paper, we give decision criteria for normal binomial difference polynomial ideals in the univariate difference polynomial ring Fy to have finite difference Groebner bases and an algorithm to compute the finite difference Groebner bases if these criteria are satisfied. The novelty of these criteria lies in the fact that complicated properties about difference polynomial ideals are reduced to elementary properties of univariate polynomials in Z[x].

Abstract:We use the monomial basis theory developed by Deng and Du to present an elementary algebraic construction of the canonical bases for both the Ringel-Hall algebra of a cyclic quiver and the positive part U+ of the quantum affine sl(n). This construction relies on analysis of quiver representations and the introduction of a new integral PBW-like basis for the Lusztig Z[v, v(-1)] -form of U+.

Abstract:All irreducible representations of the Chinese monoid $C_n$, of any rank $n$, over a nondenumerable algebraically closed field $K$, are constructed. It turns out that they have a remarkably simple form and they can be built inductively from irreducible representations of the monoid $C_2$. The proof shows also that every such representation is monomial. Since $C_n$ embeds into the algebra $K[C_n]/J(K[C_n])$, where $J(K[C_n])$ denotes the Jacobson radical of the mooned algebra $K[C_n]$, a new representation of $C_n$ as a subdirect product of the images of $C_n$ in the endomorphism algebras of the constructed simple modules follows.
