Abstract:We propose a protocol for local implementation of two consecutive nonlocal operations by three parters. It consumes one shared GHZ state in this protocol. We also demonstrate that these resources are sufficient and necessary to locally implement two consecutive CNOT operations.

Abstract:We develop the probabilistic implementation of a nonlocal gate exp [iξσnAσnB ] and ξ ∈ [0, π 4 ], by using a single non-maximally entangled state. We prove that, nonlocal gates can be implemented with a fidelity greater than 79.3% and a consumption of less than 0.969 ebits and 2 classical bits, when ξ ≤ 0.353. This provides a higher bound for the feasible operation compared to the former techniques [9, 14, 16]. Besides, gates with ξ ≥ 0.353 can be implemented with the probability 79.3% and a consumption of 0.969 ebits, which is the same efficiency as the distillation-based protocol [14, 16], while our method saves extra classical resource. Gates with ξ → 0 can be implemented with nearly unit probability and a small entanglement. We also generalize some application to the multiple system, where we find it is possible to implement certain nonlocal gates between many non-entangled partners using a non-maximally multiple entangled state.

Abstract:We investigate the local implementation of nonlocal operations with the block matrix form, and propose a protocol for any diagonal or offdiagonal block operation. This method can be directly generalized to the two-party multiqubit case and the multiparty case. Especially, in the multiparty cases, any diagonal block operation can be locally implemented using the same resources as the multiparty control-U operation discussed in Ref. [Eisert et al., Phys. Rev. A 62, 052317(2000)]. Although in the bipartite case, this kind of operations can be transformed to control-U operation using local operations, these transformations are impossible in the multiparty cases. We also compare the local implementation of nonlocal block operations with the remote implementation of local operations, and point out a relation between them.

Abstract:We propose a protocol for implementation of nonlocal CNOT operation using a partially entangled channel and show that when partially entangled pairs are taken as quantum channels, the nonlocal CNOT operation can be implemented probabilistically by introducing a collective unitary transformation. The required resources for implementation of the nonlocal CNOT operation in this case are discussed. We also point out that the nonlocal CNOT operation can be used as a purification protocol to concentrate entanglement from an ensemble of partially entangled particles into a subensemble of maximally entanglement ones.

Abstract:We propose and prove protocols of controlled and combined remote implementations of partially unknown quantum operations belonging to the restricted sets [An Min Wang: PRA, \textbf{74}, 032317(2006)] using GHZ states. We detailedly describe the protocols in the cases of one qubit, respectively, with one controller and with two senders. Then we extend the protocols to the cases of multiqubits with many controllers and two senders. Because our protocols have to demand the controller(s)'s startup and authorization or two senders together working and cooperations, the controlled and combined remote implementations of quantum operations definitely can enhance the security of remote quantum information processing and potentially have more applications. Moreover, our protocol with two senders is helpful to farthest arrive at the power of remote implementations of quantum operations in theory since the different senders perhaps have different operational resources and different operational rights in practice.

Abstract:Distant quantum control via quantum gates represents an essential step toward realizing distributed quantum networks. An efficient theoretical protocol for the dual non-local implementation of controlled-not (CNOT) gates between two separated partners is presented in this regard. The suggested protocol requires 1~ebit with local operations and classical communication channels. The efficiency of the teleportation scheme is quantified through an infidelity measure. The numerical results show that the infidelity of performing the CNOT gate between legitimate partners depends on the initial qubit settings. It is also shown that the protocol is performed efficiently if the CNOT control qubit and the auxiliary qubit are prepared in the same direction. Furthermore, we provide a noise analysis for the suggested scheme. We find that by maintaining the noise strengths under the threshold $\frac{1}{4}$, one can achieve the dual non-local CNOT gate optimally.

Abstract:We propose and prove protocols of combined and controlled remote implementations of partially unknown quantum operations belonging to the restricted sets [A. M. Wang, Phys. Rev. A 74, 032317 (2006)] using Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states. We present the protocols in detail in the cases of one qubit, with two senders and with one controller, respectively. Then we study the variations of protocols with many senders, or with many controllers, or with both many senders and controllers using a multipartite GHZ state. Furthermore, we extend these protocols to the cases of multiqubits. Because our protocols have to request that the senders work together and transfer the information in turn or receive the repertoire of extra supercontrollers, or/and the controller(s) open the quantum channel and distribute the passwords in different ways, they definitely have the strong security in remote quantum information processing and communications. Moreover, the combined protocol with many senders is helpful to arrive at the power of remote implementations of quantum operations to the utmost extent in theory, since the different senders may have different operational resources and different operational rights in practice, and the controlled protocol with many controllers is able to enhance security and increase applications of remote implementations of quantum operations in engineering, since it has some common features in a controlled process.

Abstract:We propose a protocol of remote implementations of quantum operations by hybridizing bidirectional quantum state teleportation's (BQST) and Wang's one. The protocol is available for remote implemetations of quantum operations in the restricted sets specified in Sec. III. We also give the proof of the protocol and point out its optimization. As an extension, this hybrid protocol can be reduced to BQST and Wang protocols.

Abstract:By virtue of single-photon interference, we present how to realize a nonlocal N-qubit conditional phase gate, which might be quite useful for the synthesis of arbitrary entangled quantum states of remote qubits required by distributed quantum information processing. Without considering photon loss, our scheme would work in a repeat-until-success fashion with an automatic feedback line added. Even by taking photon loss into consideration, only the success probability is affected, not the gate fidelity.

Abstract:We propose a scheme for implementing a three-qubit controlled-Not-Not (CNNOT) gate and a two-qubit SWAP gate between atoms and single-photon pulse through cavity QED. In the scheme, we can one-step realize multiple-qubit GHZ state and two-qubit Bell state by applying multiple-qubits CNNOT gate. We have also shown that our scheme would be robust against practical imperfections in current cavity QED experiment setup through simple numerical estimates. Finally, we provide the current parameters to show that our scheme is feasible.

Abstract:By exploiting the fermionic qubit parity measurement, we present a scheme to realize quantum non-demolition (QND) measurement of Bell states and generate n-party GHZ state in quantum dot. Compared with the original protocol, the required electron transfer before and after parity measurement can be nonadiabatic, which may speed up the operation speed and make the omitting of spin-orbit interaction more reasonable. This may help us to construct CNOT gate without highly precise control of coupling as the way of D. Gottesman and I. L. Chuang.
Heralded nonlocal quantum gates for distributed quantum computation in a decoherence-free subspace

Abstract:We propose a heralded protocol for implementing nontrivial quantum gates on two stationary qubits coupled to spatially separated cavities. By dynamically controlling the evolution of the composite system, nonlocal two-qubit quantum (e.g., CPHASE and CNOT) gates can be achieved without real excitations of either cavity modes or atoms. The success of our protocol is conditioned on projecting an auxiliary atom onto a postselected state, which simultaneously removes various detrimental effects of dissipation on the gate fidelity. In principle, the success probability of the gate can approach unity as the single-atom cooperativity becomes sufficiently <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://large.Furthermore" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>, we show its application for implementing single- and two-qubit gates within a decoherence-free subspace that is immune to a collective dephasing noise. This faithful, heralded, and nonlocal protocol could, therefore, be useful for distributed quantum computation and scalable quantum networks.

Sharing tripartite nonlocality sequentially using only projective measurements

Abstract:Bell nonlocality is a valuable resource in quantum information processing tasks. Scientists are interested in whether a single entangled state can generate a long sequence of nonlocal correlations. Previous work has accomplished sequential tripartite nonlocality sharing through unsharp measurements. In this paper, we investigate the sharing of tripartite nonlocality using only projective measurements and sharing classical randomness. For the generalized GHZ state, we have demonstrated that using unbiased measurement choices, two Charlies can share the standard tripartite nonlocality with a single Alice and a single Bob, while at most one Charlie can share the genuine tripartite nonlocality with a single Alice and a single Bob. However, with biased measurement choices, the number of Charlies sharing the genuine tripartite nonlocality can be increased to two. Nonetheless, we find that using biased measurements does not increase the number of sequential observers sharing the standard tripartite nonlocality. Moreover, we provide the feasible range of double violation for the parameters of the measurement combination probability with respect to the state.

Abstract:Entanglement plays an important role in quantum computation and information. We can only manipulate an entangled quantum state shared among several distant parties by local operations with classical communication ( LOCC). Thus, it is of great importance to characterize the conditions by which we can determine whether one pure quantum state can be transformed to another pure state by LOCC. It is well known that separable operations and LOCC are not equivalent. Dozens of results have illustrated this difference. Little do we know about this difference despite these recent results. It is shown in this paper that if the initial state vertical bar psi > and final state vertical bar phi > are genuine tripartite pure states in the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) class then vertical bar psi > can be transformed to vertical bar phi > by separable operations if and only if vertical bar psi > can be transformed to vertical bar phi > by deterministic LOCC. That is, SEP equals LOCC on tripartite GHZ states.

Abstract:Verifying the correct functioning of quantum gates is a crucial step toward reliable quantum information processing, but it becomes an overwhelming challenge as the system size grows due to the dimensionality curse. Recent theoretical breakthroughs show that it is possible to verify various important quantum gates with the optimal sample complexity of O(1/ε) using local operations only, where ε is the estimation precision. In this Letter, we propose a variant of quantum gate verification (QGV) that is robust to practical gate imperfections and experimentally realize efficient QGV on a 2-qubit controlled-not gate and a 3-qubit Toffoli gate using only local state preparations and measurements. The experimental results show that, by using only 1600 and 2600 measurements on average, we can verify with 95% confidence level that the implemented controlled-not gate and Toffoli gate have fidelities of at least 99% and 97%, respectively. Demonstrating the superior low sample complexity and experimental feasibility of QGV, our work promises a solution to the dimensionality curse in verifying large quantum devices in the quantum era.

Abstract:We study nonlocal two-qubit operations from a geometric perspective. By applying a Cartan decomposition to su(4), we find that the geometric structure of nonlocal gates is a 3-torus. We derive the invariants for local transformations, and connect these local invariants to the coordinates of the 3-torus. Since different points on the 3-torus may correspond to the same local equivalence class, we use the Weyl group theory to reduce the symmetry. We show that the local equivalence classes of two-qubit gates are in one-to-one correspondence with the points in a tetrahedron except on the base. We then study the properties of perfect entanglers, that is, the two-qubit operations that can generate maximally entangled states from some initially separable states. We provide criteria to determine whether a given two-qubit gate is a perfect entangler and establish a geometric description of perfect entanglers by making use of the tetrahedral representation of nonlocal gates. We find that exactly half the nonlocal gates are perfect entanglers. We also investigate the nonlocal operations generated by a given Hamiltonian. We first study the gates that can be directly generated by a Hamiltonian. Then we explicitly construct a quantum circuit that contains at most three nonlocal gates generated by a two-body interaction Hamiltonian, together with at most four local gates generated by single-qubit terms. We prove that such a quantum circuit can simulate any arbitrary two-qubit gate exactly, and hence it provides an efficient implementation of universal quantum computation and simulation.

Abstract:The paper presents an analysis of entangling and nonlocal operations in a quantum nondemolition (QND) interaction between multimode light with orbital angular momentum and an atomic ensemble. A protocol consists of two QND operations with rotations of quadratures of atomic spin coherence and light between them. This protocol provides a wide range of two-qubit operations, while the multimode nature of the chosen degrees of freedom allows the implementation of parallel operations over multiple two-qubit systems. We have used the formalism of equivalence classes and local invariants to evaluate the properties of two-qubit transformations. It is shown that, when selecting suitable values of the governing parameters, such as the duration of each of the two QND interactions and the rotation angles of the qubits, the protocol allows to realize a deterministic nonlocal $SWAP$ operation and entangling $\sqrt{SWAP}$ operation with probability 1/3.

Abstract:Implementation of a nonlocal multi-qubit conditional phase gate is an essential requirement in some quantum information processing（QIP） tasks. Recently, a novel solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics（QED） system, in which the nitrogen–vacancy（NV） center in diamond is coupled to a microtoroidal resonator（MTR）, has been proposed as a potential system for hybrid quantum information and computing. By virtue of such systems, we present a scheme to realize a nonlocal N-qubit conditional phase gate directly. Our scheme employs a cavity input–output process and single-photon interference, without the use of any auxiliary entanglement pair or classical communication. Considering the currently available technologies, our scheme might be quite useful among different nodes in quantum networks for large-scaled QIP.
