Abstract:In this paper, we investigate semisimplicity of cellular algebras over positive characteristic fields. Our main result shows that the Frame number of cellular algebras characterizes semisimplicity of it. In a sense, this is a generalization of Maschke's theorem.

Abstract:In this note, we prove that an affine cellular algebra $A$ is semisimple if and only if the scheme associated to $A$ is reduced and 0-dimensional, and the bilinear forms with respect to all layers of $A$ are isomorphisms. Moreover, if the ground ring is a perfect field, then $A$ is semisimple if and only if it is separable. We also give a sufficient condition for an affine cellular algebra being Jacobson semisimple.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to describe the structure of finite-dimensional semi-simple Leibniz algebras in characteristic zero. Our main tool in this endeavor are hemi-semidirect products. One of the major results of this paper is a simplicity criterion for hemi-semidirect products. In addition, we characterize when a hemi-semidirect product is semi-simple or Lie-simple. Using these results we reduce the classification of finite-dimensional semi-simple Leibniz algebras over fields of characteristic zero to the well-known classification of finite-dimensional semi-simple Lie algebras and their finite-dimensional irreducible modules. As one consequence of our structure theorem, we determine the derivation algebra of a finite-dimensional semi-simple Leibniz algebra in characteristic zero as a vector space. This generalizes a recent result of Ayupov et al. from the complex numbers to arbitrary fields of characteristic zero.

Abstract:We show that an arbitrary algebra ${ A}$, (of arbitrary dimension, over an arbitrary base field and any identity is not suppose for the product), is semisimple if and only if it has zero annihilator and admits a semi-division linear basis. We also show that $A$ is simple if and only if it has zero annihilator and admits an $i$-division linear basis.

Abstract:We exhibit a correspondence between subcategories of modules over an algebra and sub-bimodules of the dual of that algebra. We then prove that the semisimplicity of certain such categories is equivalent to the existence of a Peter-Weyl decomposition of the corresponding sub-bimodule. Finally, we use this technique to establish the semisimplicity of certain finite-dimensional representations of the quantum double of sl_2 for generic q.

Abstract:Semifields are semirings in which every nonzero element has a multiplicative inverse. A rough classification uses the characteristic of the semifield, that is the isomorphism type of the semifield generated by the two neutral elements. For every characteristic, we provide a structure theorem that reduces the classification of semifields to the classification of better-known algebraic structures. Every semifield of characteristic $p$ is actually a field. There is an equivalence between semifields of characteristic one and lattice-ordered groups. Strict semifields of characteristic zero are quotients of cancellative semifields and there is an equivalence between concellative strict semifields and a particular class of partially ordered rings.
Simplicity of $*$-algebras of non-Hausdorff $\mathbb{Z}_2$-multispinal groupoids

Abstract:We study simplicity of $C^*$-algebras arising from self-similar groups of $\mathbb{Z}_2$-multispinal type, a generalization of the Grigorchuk case whose simplicity was first proved by L. Clark, R. Exel, E. Pardo, C. Starling, and A. Sims in 2019, and we prove results generalizing theirs. Our first main result is a sufficient condition for simplicity of the Steinberg algebra satisfying conditions modeled on the behavior of the groupoid associated to the first Grigorchuk group. This closely resembles conditions found by B. Steinberg and N. Szakács. As a key ingredient we identify an infinite family of $2-(2q-1,q-1,q/2-1)$-designs, where $q$ is a positive even integer. We then deduce the simplicity of the associated $C^*$-algebra, which is our second main result. Results of similar type were considered by B. Steinberg and N. Szakács in 2021, and later by K. Yoshida, but their methods did not follow the original methods of the five authors.

Abstract:Let $\Lambda$ be an Artin algebra and ${\mathsf{mod}}\mbox{-} ({\underline{\mathsf{Gprj}}}\mbox{-}\Lambda)$ the category of finitely presented functors over the stable category ${\underline{\mathsf{Gprj}}}\mbox{-}\Lambda$ of finitely generated Gorenstein projective $\Lambda$-modules. This paper deals with those algebras $\Lambda$ in which ${\mathsf{mod}}\mbox{-} ({\underline{\mathsf{Gprj}}}\mbox{-}\Lambda)$ is a semisimple abelian category, and we call G-semisimple algebras. We study some basic properties of such algebras. In particular, it will be observed that the class of G-semisimple algebras contains important classes of algebras, including gentle algebras and more generally quadratic monomial algebras. Next, we construct a fully faithful functor from the stable category of Gorenstein projective representations ${\underline{\mathsf{Gprj}}}(\mathcal{Q}, \Lambda)$ of a finite acyclic quiver $\mathcal{Q}$ to the category of representations ${\rm rep}(\mathcal{Q}, {{\underline{\mathsf{Gprj}}}} \mbox{-} \Lambda)$. Furthermore, it is shown that this is an equivalence, provided $\Lambda$ is a G-semisimple algebra over an algebraic closed field. Using this, we will show that the path algebra $\Lambda\mathcal{Q}$ of the G-semisimple algebra $\Lambda$ is Cohen-Macaulay finite if and only if $\mathcal{Q}$ is Dynkin. In the last part, we provide a complete classification of indecomposable Gorenstein projective representations within ${\mathsf{Gprj}}(A_n, \Lambda)$ of the linear quiver $A_n$ over a G-semisimple algebra $\Lambda$. We also determine almost split sequences in ${\mathsf{Gprj}}(A_n, \Lambda)$ with certain ending terms. We apply these results to obtain insights into the cardinality of the components of the stable Auslander-Reiten quiver ${\mathsf{Gprj}}(A_n, \Lambda)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the structures of monomial Hopf algebras over a field of positive characteristic. A necessary and sufficient condition for the monomial coalgebra C d ( n ) to admit Hopf structures is given here, and if it is the case, all graded Hopf structures on C d ( n ) are completely classified. Moreover, we construct a Hopf algebras filtration on C d ( n ) which will help us to discuss a conjecture posed by Andruskiewitsch and Schneider. Finally combined with a theorem by Montgomery, we give the structure theorem for all monomial Hopf algebras.

Abstract:We obtain a criteria for a pure sheaf to be semisimple. As a corollary, we prove the following: Let X 0 X_0 and S 0 S_0 be two schemes over a finite field F q \mathbf {F}_q , and let f 0 : X 0 → S 0 f_0: X_0\rightarrow S_0 be a proper smooth morphism. Assume S 0 S_0 is normal and geometrically connected, and assume there exists a closed point s s in S 0 S_0 such that the Frobenius automorphism F s F_s acts semisimply on H i ( X s ¯ , Q l ¯ ) H^i(X_{\bar s}, {\overline {\mathbf {Q}_l}}) , where X s ¯ X_{\bar s} is the geometric fiber of f 0 f_0 at s s (this last assumption is unnecessary if the semisimplicity conjecture is true). Then R i f 0 ∗ Q l ¯ R^if_{0\ast } {\overline {\mathbf {Q}_l}} is a semisimple sheaf on S 0 S_0 . This verifies a conjecture of Grothendieck and Serre provided the semisimplicity conjecture holds. As an application, we prove that the galois representations of function fields associated to the l l -adic cohomologies of K 3 K3 surfaces are semisimple. We also get a theorem of Zarhin about the semisimplicity of the Galois representations of function fields arising from abelian varieties. The proof relies heavily on Deligne’s work on Weil conjectures.

Abstract:Let A be a finite-dimensional cellular algebra over a field. It is shown that the Cartan determinant of A is a positive integer; furthermore, the Cartan determinant of value I is equivalent to the condition that A is quasi-hereditary. In this article, we establish a formula for expressing the Cartan determinants of cellular algebras. By applying this formula, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for a cellular algebra with Cartan determinant 2 to be standardly stratified. Moreover, we provide a sufficient condition for an arbitrary cellular algebra to be standardly stratified and an inductive construction of standardly stratified cellular algebras.
GL-algebras in positive characteristic II: the polynomial ring

Abstract:We study GL-equivariant modules over the infinite variable polynomial ring $S = k[x_1, x_2, ..., x_n, ...]$ with $k$ an infinite field of characteristic $p > 0$. We extend many of Sam--Snowden's far-reaching results from characteristic zero to this setting. For example, while the Castelnuovo--Mumford regularity of a finitely generated GL-equivariant $S$-module need not be finite in positive characteristic, we show that the resolution still has finitely many "linear strands of higher slope". The crux of this paper is two technical results. The first is an extension to positive characteristic of Snowden's recent linearization of Draisma's embedding theorem which we use to study the generic category of $S$-modules. The second is a Nagpal-type "shift theorem" about torsion $S$-modules for which we introduce certain categorifications of the Hasse derivative. These two results together allow us to obtain explicit generators for the derived category. In a follow-up paper, we also use these results to prove finiteness results for local cohomology modules.

Abstract:In this paper, we show Kazhdan-Lusztig categories, that is, the categories of lower bounded generalized weight modules for certain affine vertex operator superalgebras that are locally finite modules of the underlying finite dimensional Lie superalgebra, are semisimple. Those are all representation categories of affine vertex operator superalgebras at conformal but non admissible levels. As a consequence, the categories of finite length generalized modules for these affine vertex operator superalgebras have braided tensor category structures.

Abstract:We study the category of GL-equivariant modules over the infinite exterior algebra in positive characteristic. Our main structural result is a shift theorem a la Nagpal. Using this, we obtain a Church--Ellenberg type bound for the Castelnuovo--Mumford regularity. We also prove finiteness results for local cohomology.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of a cellular system in order to deal with quasi-hereditary algebras. We shall prove that a necessary and sufficient condition for an algebra to be quasi-hereditary is the existence of a full divisible cellular system. As a further application, we prove that the existence of a full local cellular system is a sufficient condition for a standardly stratified algebra.

Abstract:In this note we prove a generalization of the Frobenius-Schur theorem for finite groups for the case of semisimple Hopf algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. A similar result holds in characteristic $p > 2$ if the Hopf algebra is also cosemisimple. In fact we show a more general version for any finite-dimensional semisimple algebra with an involution.

A Characteristic free approach to skew-gentle algebras

Abstract:To each skew-gentle algebra, one can assign a gentle algebra in terms of combinatorial data. In order to relate the structures of the two algebras, we establish a homological epimorphism and a recollement of derived module categories. This approach is characteristic free and works in particular also in characteristic two, which is the difficult case for skew-gentle algebras. This allows to solve open problems and to uniformly reprove and strengthen known results, for instance, (1) a complete classification of selfinjective skew-gentle algebras; (2) the finitistic dimension conjecture, Auslander and Reiten's conjecture, and Keller's conjecture hold for all skew-gentle algebras; (3) a precise connection of K-theory between skew-gentle algebras and gentle algebras; (4) all skew-gentle algebras are Gorenstein, and skew-gentle algebras and their gentle algebras share the same singularity categories.

Charmenability of higher rank arithmetic groups

Abstract:We complete the study of characters on higher rank semisimple lattices initiated in [BH19,BBHP20], the missing case being the case of lattices in higher rank simple algebraic groups in arbitrary characteristics. More precisely, we investigate dynamical properties of the conjugation action of such lattices on their space of positive definite functions. Our main results deal with the existence and the classification of characters from which we derive applications to topological dynamics, ergodic theory, unitary representations and operator algebras. Our key theorem is an extension of the noncommutative Nevo-Zimmer structure theorem obtained in [BH19] to the case of simple algebraic groups defined over arbitrary local fields. We also deduce a noncommutative analogue of Margulis' factor theorem for von Neumann subalgebras of the noncommutative Poisson boundary of higher rank arithmetic groups.

Abstract:In the present paper, it is proved that any complete local domain of mixed characteristic has a weakly almost Cohen-Macaulay algebra in the sense that some system of parameters is a weakly almost regular sequence, which is a notion defined via a valuation. The central idea of this result originates from the main statement obtained by Heitmann to prove the Monomial Conjecture in dimension 3. In fact, A weakly almost Cohen-Macaulay algebra is constructed over the absolute integral closure of a complete local domain by applying the methods of Fontaine rings and Witt vectors. A connection of the main theorem with the Monomial Conjecture is also discussed.

Azumaya algebras with involution and classical semisimple group schemes

Abstract:Let $S$ be a non-empty scheme with 2 invertible. In this paper we present a functor $F: AZ_*^{n'} \rightarrow GS_*^n$ where $AZ_*^{n'}$ and $GS_*^n$ are fibered categories over $Sch_S$ given respectively by degree-$n'$ Azumaya algebras with an involution of type $*$ and rank-$n$ adjoint group schemes of classical type $*$ with absolutely simple fibers. Here $n'$ is a function of $n$. We show that this functor is an equivalence of fibered categories using étale descent, thus giving a classification of adjoint (as well as simply connected) group schemes over $S$, generalizing the well known case when the base scheme is the spectrum of a field. In particular, this implies that every adjoint group scheme of classical type with absolutely simple fibers is isomorphic to the neutral component of the automorphism group scheme of a unique (up to isomorphism) Azumaya algebra with involution. We also show interesting applications of this classification such as specialization theorem for isomorphism classes of Azumaya algebra with involution over Henselian local rings, uniqueness of integral model for groups with good reduction over discrete valued fields and discuss its implications on the Grothendieck-Serre conjecture over certain domains.
