Abstract:We associate two almost $C_p$-representations to a $(\phi,\Gamma)$-module, and we compute their dimensions and heights. As a corollary, we get a full faithfulness result for $B_e$-representations.

Abstract:In this paper, we will consider $(\varphi,\Gamma)$-modules over rings which are "combinations of discrete algebras and affinoid $\mathbb{Q}_p$-algebras", and prove basic results such as the existence of a fully faithful functor from the category of Galois representations, the deperfection of $(\varphi,\Gamma)$-modules over perfect period rings, and the dualizability of the cohomology of $(\varphi,\Gamma)$-modules. This work is motivated by the categorical $p$-adic Langlands correspondence for locally analytic representations, as proposed by Emerton-Gee-Hellmann, and the $GL_1$ case, as formulated and proved by Rodrigues Jacinto-Rodr\'ıguez Camargo.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number, $K$ a finite unramified extension of $\mathbb{Q}_p$ and $\mathbb{F}$ a finite extension of $\mathbb{F}_p$. For $\overline{\rho}$ any reducible two-dimensional representation of $\operatorname{Gal}(\overline{K}/K)$ over $\mathbb{F}$, we compute explicitly the associated étale $(\varphi,\mathcal{O}_K^{\times})$-module $D_A^{\otimes}(\overline{\rho})$ defined by Breuil-Herzig-Hu-Morra-Schraen. Then we let $\pi$ be an admissible smooth representation of $\operatorname{GL}_2(K)$ over $\mathbb{F}$ occurring in some Hecke eigenspaces of the mod $p$ cohomology and $\overline{\rho}$ be its underlying two-dimensional representation of $\operatorname{Gal}(\overline{K}/K)$ over $\mathbb{F}$. Assuming that $\overline{\rho}$ is maximally non-split, we prove under some genericity assumption that the associated étale $(\varphi,\mathcal{O}_K^{\times})$-module $D_A(\pi)$ defined by Breuil-Herzig-Hu-Morra-Schraen is isomorphic to $D_A^{\otimes}(\overline{\rho})$. This extends the results of Breuil-Herzig-Hu-Morra-Schraen, where $\overline{\rho}$ was assumed to be semisimple.

Abstract:Colmez, Dospinescu and Niziol have shown that the only $p$-adic representations of $\rm{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}_p/\mathbb{Q}_p)$ appearing in the $p$-adic étale cohomology of the coverings of Drinfeld's half-plane are the $2$-dimensional cuspidal representations (i.e. potentially semi-stable, whose associated Weil-Deligne representation is irreducible) with Hodge-Tate weights $0$ and $1$ and their multiplicities are given by the $p$-adic Langlands correspondence. We generalise this result to arbitrary weights, by considering the $p$-adic étale cohomology with coefficients in the symmetric powers of the universal local system on Drinfeld's tower. A novelty is the appearance of potentially semistable $2$-dimensional non-cristabelian representations, with expected multiplicity. The key point is that the local systems we consider turn out to be particularly simple: they are "isotrivial opers" on a curve. We develop a recipe to compute the proétale cohomology of such a local system using the Hyodo-Kato cohomology of the curve and the de Rham complex of the flat filtered bundle associated to the local system.

On modular representations of inner forms of $\mathrm{GL}_n$ over a local non-archimedean field

Abstract:Let $\mathrm{F}$ be a local non-archimedean field of residue characteristic $p$ and $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_\ell$ an algebraic closure of a finite field of characteristic $\ell \neq p$. We extend the results of Lapid and Mínguez concerning $\square$-irreducible representations of inner forms of $\mathrm{GL}_n(\mathrm{F})$ to representations over $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_\ell$. As applications, we compute the Godement-Jacquet $L$-factor for any smooth irreducible representation over $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_\ell$ and show that the local factors of a representation agree with the ones of its $\mathrm{C}$-parameter defined by Kurinczuk and Matringe. Moreover, we reprove that the classification of irreducible representations via multisegments due to Vignéras and Mínguez-Sécherre is indeed exhaustive without using the classification of Ariki and Mathas of simple modules of Hecke algebras. Finally, we characterize the irreducible constituents of certain parabolically induced representations, as was already done by Zelevinsky over $\mathbb{C}$.

Abstract:We show that certain modular induced representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2({\mathbb F}_q)$ can be written as cokernels of operators acting on symmetric power representations of $\mathrm{GL}_2({\mathbb F}_q)$. When the induction is from the Borel subgroup, respectively the anisotropic torus, the operators involve multiplication by newly defined twisted Dickson polynomials, respectively, twisted Serre operators. Our isomorphisms are explicitly defined using differential operators. As a corollary, we improve some periodicity results for quotients in the theta filtration.

Abstract:For a central division algebra $D$ of dimension $d^2$ over a finite extension $F$ of $\mathbb Q_p$ or of $\mathbb F_p((t))$, a field $R$ of characteristic prime to $p$, and an irreducible smooth $R$-representation $\pi$ of $G=GL_n(D)$, we show that for small enough compact open pro-$p$ subgroup $K$ of $G$, the restriction of $\pi$ to $K$ is the same as that of a virtual representation $\sum c_\pi(\lambda) Ind_{P_\lambda}^G 1$, where the sum is over partitions $\lambda$ of $n$ and $P_\lambda$ a parabolic subgroup of $G$ associated to $\lambda$. When $K$ is a Moy-Prasad subgroup of $G$ we determine from the $c_\pi(\lambda)$ a polynomial $P_{\pi,K}$ of degree $d(\pi)$ independent of the choice of $K$, such that for large enough integers $j$ the dimension of the points of $\pi$ fixed under the congruence subgroup $K_j$ of $K$ is $P_{\pi,K}(q^j)$ where $q$ is the cardinality of the residue field of $D$.

Generalizing the $\psi$-lattices which Colmez constructed in étale $(\varphi,\Gamma)$-modules over $k[[t]][t^{-1}]$, we define, study and exemplify $\psi$-lattices in étale $(\varphi,\Gamma)$-modules over $k[[t_1,\ldots,t_d]][\prod_it_i^{-1}]$ for arbitrary $d\in{\mathbb N}$.

Abstract:For every finite group $H$ and every finite $H$-module $A$, we determine the subgroup of negligible classes in $H^2(H,A)$, in the sense of Serre, over fields with enough roots of unity. As a consequence, we show that for every odd prime $p$, every integer $n\geq 3$, and every field $F$ containing a primitive $p$-th root of unity, there exists a continuous $n$-dimensional mod $p$ representation of the absolute Galois group of $F(x_1,\dots,x_p)$ which does not lift modulo $p^2$. This answers a question of Khare and Serre, and disproves a conjecture of Florence.

Abstract:Let $p$ be an odd prime and let $k$ be a field of characteristic $p$. We provide a practical algebraic description of the representation ring of $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$ modulo projectives. We then investigate a family of modular plethysms of the natural $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$-module $E$ of the form $\nabla^{\nu}\mathrm{Sym}^l E$ for a partition $\nu$ of size less than $p$ and $0\leq l\leq p-2$. Within this family we classify both the modular plethysms of $E$ which are projective and the modular plethysms of $E$ which have only one non-projective indecomposable summand which is moreover irreducible. We generalise these results to similar classifications where modular plethysms of $E$ are replaced by $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$-modules of the form $\nabla^{\nu} V$, where $V$ is a non-projective indecomposable $k\mathrm{SL}_2(\mathbb{F}_p)$-module and $|\nu|<p$.

Abstract:Let $p$ be a prime number, $K$ a finite unramified extension of $\mathbb{Q}_p$ and $\mathbb{F}$ a finite extension of $\mathbb{F}_p$. Using perfectoid spaces we associate to any finite-dimensional continuous representation $\overline{\rho}$ of ${\rm Gal}(\overline K/K)$ over $\mathbb{F}$ an étale $(\varphi,\mathcal{O}_K^\times)$-module $D_A^\otimes(\overline{\rho})$ over a completed localization $A$ of $\mathbb{F}[\![\mathcal{O}_K]\!]$. We conjecture that one can also associate an étale $(\varphi,\mathcal{O}_K^\times)$-module $D_A(\pi)$ to any smooth representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}_2(K)$ occurring in some Hecke eigenspace of the mod $p$ cohomology of a Shimura curve, and that moreover $D_A(\pi)$ is isomorphic (up to twist) to $D_A^\otimes(\overline{\rho})$, where $\overline{\rho}$ is the underlying $2$-dimensional representation of ${\rm Gal}(\overline K/K)$. Using previous work of the same authors, we prove this conjecture when $\overline{\rho}$ is semi-simple and sufficiently generic.

Representations of C*-correspondences on pairs of Hilbert spaces

Abstract:We study representations of Hilbert bimodules on pairs of Hilbert spaces. If $A$ is a C*-algebra and $\mathsf{X}$ is a right Hilbert $A$-module, we use such representations to faithfully represent the C*-algebras $\mathcal{K}_A(\mathsf{X})$ and $\mathcal{L}_A(\mathsf{X})$. We then extend this theory to define representations of $(A,B)$ C*-correspondences on a pair of Hilbert spaces and show how these can be obtained from any nondegenerate representation of $B$. As an application of such representations, we give necessary and sufficient conditions on an $(A,B)$ C*-correspondences to admit a Hilbert $A$-$B$-bimodule structure. Finally, we show how to represent the interior tensor product of two C*-correspondences.

Abstract:Given a p-adic representation of the Galois group of a local field, we show that its Galois cohomology can be computed using the associated étale (φ, Γ)-module over the Robba ring; this is a variant of a result of Herr. We then establish analogs, for not necessarily étale (φ, Γ)-modules over the Robba ring, of the Euler–Poincaré characteristic formula and Tate local duality for p-adic representations. These results are expected to intervene in the duality theory for Selmer groups associated to de Rham representations.

Abstract:We study two classical representations of Artin's braid group and their modulo $p$ reductions. We use topological methods to show that the Gassner representation $\tau_n: B_n\to\text{GL}_n(\mathbb{Z}[t_1^{\pm 1}, \ldots, t_n^{\pm 1}])$ is faithful for all $n$, and furthermore that it is faithful modulo $p$ for all integers $p>1$. We then give a novel proof that the Burau representation of $B_3$ is faithful modulo $p$ for all $p>1$, and suggest applications to the modulo $p$ Burau representation for higher braid groups.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a non-archimedean local field of characteristic different from 2 and residual characteristic $p$. This paper concerns the $\ell$-modular representations of a connected reductive group $G$ distinguished by a Galois involution, with $\ell$ an odd prime different from $p$. We start by proving a general theorem allowing to lift supercuspidal $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_{\ell}$-representations of $\mathrm{GL}_n(F)$ distinguished by an arbitrary closed subgroup $H$ to a distinguished supercuspidal $\overline{\mathbb{Q}}_{\ell}$-representation. Given a quadratic field extension $E/F$ and an irreducible $\overline{\mathbb{F}}_{\ell}$-representation $\pi$ of $\mathrm{GL}_n(E)$, we verify the Jacquet conjecture in the modular setting that if the Langlands parameter $\phi_\pi$ is irreducible and conjugate-self-dual, then $\pi$ is either $\mathrm{GL}_n(F)$-distinguished or $(\mathrm{GL}_n(F),\omega_{E/F})$-distinguished (where $\omega_{E/F}$ is the quadratic character of $F^\times$ associated to the quadratic field extension $E/F$ by the local class field theory), but not both, which extends one result of Sécherre to the case $p=2$. We give another application of our lifting theorem for supercuspidal representations distinguished by a unitary involution, extending one result of Zou to $p=2$.

Abstract:We adapt techniques used in the study of the cubic Dirac operator on homogeneous reductive spaces to the Dolbeault operator on elliptic coadjoint orbits to prove that cohomologically induced representations have an infinitesimal character, that cohomological induction and Zuckerman translation functor commute and give a geometric interpretation of the Zuchkerman translation functor in this context.

Abstract:Let $F/{\mathbb Q}_p$ be a finite unramified extension, let $k$ be a finite extension of the residue field of $F$. We provide explicit constructions of integral structures for all rank two étale Lubin-Tate $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules over $k$. We construct algebraic families of such integral structures and show that these comprehensively reflect the degeneration behaviour of $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules. These results reveal new combinatorial structures of the moduli stack of $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules, and allow us, in particular, to rederive the fact that the Serre weights assigned to a two dimensional ${\rm Gal}(\overline{F}/F)$-representation over $k$ can be read off from the geometry of the stack.

Abstract:We construct several $C^*$-algebras and spectral triples associated to the Berkovich projective line $\mathbb{P}^1_{\mathrm{Berk}}({\mathbb{C}_p})$. In the commutative setting, we construct a spectral triple as a direct limit over finite $\mathbb{R}$-trees. More general $C^*$-algebras generated by partial isometries are also presented. We use their representations to associate a Perron-Frobenius operator and a family of projection valued measures. Finally, we show that invariant measures, such as the Patterson-Sullivan measure, can be obtained as KMS-states of the crossed product algebra with a Schottky subgroup of $\mathrm{PGL}_2(\mathbb{C}_p)$.

Nous d\'efinissons la notion de R-repr\'esentation irr\'eductible banale de G=GL(m,D), notion qui g\'en\'eralise celle de caract\'eristique banale pour G, et qui repose sur une condition portant sur le support cuspidal de la repr\'esentation et d\'ependant de la caract\'eristique de R. Lorsque le corps R est de caract\'eristique banale, en particulier lorsque R est le corps des nombres complexes, toute R-repr\'esentation irr\'eductible de G est banale. Nous donnons dans cet article une classification des R-repr\'esentations irr\'eductibles banales de G en termes de multisegments dits banals. Lorsque R est le corps des nombres complexes, notre m\'ethode fournit une nouvelle preuve, enti\`erement locale, de la classification de Tadic des repr\'esentations lisses irr\'eductibles complexes de G.
