Abstract:
The industrial by-product phosphogypsum (PG) is one of the bulk solid wastes with the risk of environmental pollution. Recycling PG as filling and binding material in preparing grouting materials is not only an effective solution to the PG disposal, but also a new approach to replacing the conventional cement-based grouts that conforms to the sustainable development. The flowability, setting time and early strength are vital characteristics for the grouts. Water-resistance should also be considered in underground construction. This paper works on the workability of the PG-based grouting slurry and the mechanical strength of the hardened paste. The water-resistance and permeability of the grouts are investigated. XRD analysis and SEM observation are used to study the hydration products and the microstructure. Experimental results show that the increase of water/binder ratio and PG dosage leads to a longer setting time and a higher flowability. The grouts with superplasticizer dosage of <0.8% and accelerated agent dosage of 0.3 ~ 0.5% obtain an ideal final setting time and flowability for grouting construction. The addition of OPC and silica fume improves both the compressive strength and the water-resistance of grouting materials. Microstructure observation shows that the formation of the ettringite and C-S-H gel is responsible for the early strength. The filling effect and pozzolanic reaction of fly ash and silica fume contribute to the compactness of the structure.
