Abstract:The structure of Sally modules of $\fkm$-primary ideals $I$ in a Cohen-Macaulay local ring $(A, \m)$ satisfying the equality $\e_1(I)=\e_0(I)-\ell_A(A/I)+1$ is explored, where $\e_0(I)$ and $\e_1(I)$ denote the first two Hilbert coefficients of $I$.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore the structure of the normal Sally modules of rank one with respect to an m-primary ideal in a Nagata reduced local ring R which is not necessary Cohen–Macaulay. As an application of this result, when the base ring is Cohen–Macaulay analytically unramified, the extremal bound on the first normal Hilbert coefficient leads to the depth of the associated graded rings G‾ with respect to a normal filtration is at least dim⁡R−1 and G‾ turns in to Cohen–Macaulay when the third normal Hilbert coefficient is vanished.

Abstract:Let $k$ be a local field of characteristic zero. Rankin-Selberg's local zeta integrals produce linear functionals on generic irreducible admissible smooth representations of $GL_n(k)\times GL_r(k)$, with certain invariance properties. We show that up to scalar multiplication, these linear functionals are determined by the invariance properties.

Abstract:Let $(R, \mathfrak{m})$ be a $d$-dimensional Noetherian local ring that is formally equidimensional, and let $M$ be an arbitrary $R$-submodule of the free module $F = R^p$ with an analytic spread $s:=s(M)$. In this work, inspired by Herzog-Puthenpurakal-Verma in \cite{herzog}, we show the existence of an unique largest $R$-module $M_{k}$ with $\ell_R(M_{k}/M)<\infty$ and $M\subseteq M_{s}\subseteq\cdots\subseteq M_{1}\subseteq M_{0}\subseteq q(M),$ such that $°(P_{M_{k}/M}(n))<s-k,$ where $q(M)$ is the relative integral closure of $M,$ defined by $q(M):=\overline{M}\cap M^{sat},$ where $M^{sat}=\cup_{n\geq 1}(M:_F\mathfrak{m}^n)$ is the saturation of $M$. We also provide a structure theorem for these modules. Furthermore, we establish the existence of coefficient modules between $I(M)M$ and $M$, where $I(M)$ denotes the $0$-th Fitting ideal of $F/M$, and discuss their structural properties. Finally, we present some applications and discuss some properties.

Galois module structure of algebraic integers of cyclic cubic fields

Abstract:We determine the Galois module structure of the ring of integers for all cubic fields using roots of the generic cyclic cubic polynomial $f_n(X)=X^3-nX^2-(n+3)X-1$. Let $L_n=\mathbb Q(\rho_n)$ be a cyclic cubic field with Galois group $G:={\rm Gal}(L_n/\mathbb Q)$, where $\rho_n$ is a root of $f_n (X)$, and ${\mathcal O}_{L_n}$ the ring of integers of $L_n$. We explicitly give the generator of the free module ${\mathcal O}_{L_n}$ of rank $1$ over the associated order ${\mathcal A}_{L_n/\mathbb Q}:= \{ x\in \mathbb Q [G] \, |\, x\, {\mathcal O}_L \subset {\mathcal O}_L \}$ by using the roots of $f_n(X)$.

Koszul homology of $F$-finite module and applications

Abstract:Let $k$ be an infinite field of characteristic $p > 0$ and let $R = k[Y_1,\ldots, Y_d]$ (or $R = k[[Y_1,\ldots, Y_d]]$). Let $F \colon \text{Mod}(R) \rightarrow \text{Mod}(R)$ be the Frobenius functor and let $\mathcal{M}$ be a $F_R$-finite module (in the sense of Lyubeznik \cite{Lyu-2}). We show that if $r \geq 1$ then the Koszul homology modules $H_i(Y_1,\ldots, Y_r; \mathcal{M})$ are $F_{\overline{R}}$-finite modules where $\overline{R} = R/(Y_1,\ldots, Y_r)$ for $i = 0, \ldots, r$. As an application if $A$ is a regular ring containing a field of characteristic $p > 0$ and $S = A[X_1,\ldots, X_m]$ is standard graded and $I$ is an arbitrary graded ideal in $S$ then we give a comprehensive study of graded components of local cohomology modules $H^i_I(S)$. This extends in positive characteristic results we proved in \cite{P}. We study $H^i_I(S) $ when $A$ is local and prove that if $S/I$ is equidimensional and $Proj(S/I)$ is Cohen-Macaulay then $H^i_I(S)_n = 0$ for all $n \geq 0$ and for all $i > \ height \ I$. If $B$ is a equicharacteristic local Noetherian ring with infinite residue field and with a surjective map $\pi \colon T \rightarrow B$ where $(T,\mathfrak{n})$ is regular local then we show that the Koszul cohomology modules $H^j(\mathfrak{n}, H^{\dim T - i}_{\ker \pi }(T))$ depend only on $A, i, j$ and not on $T$ and $\pi$.

Congruence modules and the Wiles-Lenstra-Diamond numerical criterion in higher codimensions

Abstract:We define a congruence module $\Psi_A(M)$ associated to a surjective $\mathcal O$-algebra morphism $\lambda\colon A \to \mathcal{O}$, with $\mathcal{O}$ a discrete valuation ring, $A$ a complete noetherian local $\mathcal{O}$-algebra regular at $\mathfrak{p}$, the kernel of $\lambda$, and $M$ a finitely generated $A$-module. We establish a numerical criterion for $M$ to have a free direct summand over $A$ of positive rank. It is in terms of the lengths of $\Psi_A(M)$ and the torsion part of $\mathfrak{p}/\mathfrak{p}^2$. It generalizes results of Wiles, Lenstra, and Diamond, that deal with the case when the codimension of $\mathfrak{p}$ is zero. Number theoretic applications include integral (non-minimal) $R=\mathbb T$ theorems in situations of positive defect conditional on certain standard conjectures. Here $R$ is a deformation ring parametrizing certain Galois representations and $\mathbb T$ is a Hecke algebra. An example is a modularity lifting for 2-dimensional $\ell$-adic Galois representations over an imaginary quadratic field. The proofs combine our commutative algebra results with a generalization due to Calegari and Geraghty of the patching method of Wiles and Taylor--Wiles and level raising arguments that go back to Ribet. The results provide new evidence in favor of the intriguing, and as yet fledgling, torsion analog of the classical Langlands correspondence. We also prove unconditional integral $R=\mathbb T$ results for Hecke algebras $\mathbb T$ acting on weight one cohomology of Shimura curves over $\mathbb Q$. This leads to a torsion Jacquet--Langlands correspondence comparing integral Hecke algebras acting on weight one cohomology of Shimura curves and modular curves. In this case the cohomology has abundant torsion and so our correspondence cannot be deduced by means of the classical Jacquet--Langlands correspondence.

Abstract:Koszul modules over Noetherian local rings $R$ were introduced by Herzog and Iyengar and they possess good homological properties, for instance their Poincare' series is rational. It is an interesting problem to characterize classes of Koszul modules. Following the idea traced by Avramov, Iyengar and Sega, we take advantage of the existence of special filtration on $R$ for proving that large classes of $R$-modules over Koszul rings are Koszul modules. By using this tool we reprove and extend some results obtained by Fitzgerald.

Abstract:For a Cohen-Macaulay local ring $(R,\mathfrak{m})$ with canonical module, we study how relations between $\text{index}(R)$ and $\text{g}\ell\ell(R)$ and between $\text{index}(R)$ and $e(R)$ are preserved when factoring out regular sequences and localizing at prime ideals. We then give conditions for when ideals in a one-dimensional Cohen-Macaulay local ring are Elias and Burch, and use these conditions to study the relationship between Elias, Burch, and Ulrich ideals.

Rank 2 $\ell$-adic local systems and Higgs bundles over a curve

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth, projective, and geometrically connected curve defined over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$ of characteristic $p$ different from $2$ and $S\subseteq X$ a subset of closed points. Let $\overline{X}$ and $\overline{S}$ be their base changes to an algebraic closure of $\mathbb{F}_q$. We study the number of $\ell$-adic local systems $(\ell\neq p)$ in rank $2$ over $\overline{X}-\overline{S}$ with all possible prescribed tame local monodromies fixed by $k$-fold iterated action of Frobenius endomorphism for every $k\geq 1$. In all cases, we confirm conjectures of Deligne predicting that these numbers behave as if they were obtained from a Lefschetz fixed point formula. In fact, our counting results are expressed in terms of the numbers of some Higgs bundles.

Small modules with interesting rank varieties

Abstract:This paper focuses on the rank varieties for modules over a group algebra $\mathbb{F}E$ where $E$ is an elementary abelian $p$-group and $p$ is the characteristic of an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{F}$. In the first part, we give a sufficient condition for a Green vertex of an indecomposable module containing an elementary abelian $p$-group $E$ in terms of the rank variety of the module restricted to $E$. In the second part, given a homogeneous algebraic variety $V$ , we explore the problem on finding a small module with rank variety $V$ . In particular, we examine the simple module $D^{(kp-p+1,1^{p-1})}$ for the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_{kp}$.

Abstract:Let $F/{\mathbb Q}_p$ be a finite unramified extension, let $k$ be a finite extension of the residue field of $F$. We provide explicit constructions of integral structures for all rank two étale Lubin-Tate $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules over $k$. We construct algebraic families of such integral structures and show that these comprehensively reflect the degeneration behaviour of $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules. These results reveal new combinatorial structures of the moduli stack of $(\varphi,{\mathcal O}_F^{\times})$-modules, and allow us, in particular, to rederive the fact that the Serre weights assigned to a two dimensional ${\rm Gal}(\overline{F}/F)$-representation over $k$ can be read off from the geometry of the stack.

Sufficient and necessary conditions for the simplicity of these modules are given. From these modules we construct modules which are infinitely generated when restricted to the maximal toral subalgebra.

Abstract:This paper contains a complete proof of Fukaya's and Kato's epsilon$-isomorphism conjecture in [23] for invertible \Lambda-modules (the case of V = V_0(r) where V_0 is unramified of dimension 1). Our results rely heavily on Kato's unpublished proof of (commutative) epsilon-isomorphisms for one dimensional representations of G_{Q_p} in [27], but apart from fixing some sign-ambiguities in (loc.\ cit.) we use the theory of (\phi,\Gamma)-modules instead of syntomic cohomology. Also, for the convenience of the reader we give a slight modification or rather reformulation of it in the language of [23] and extend it to the (slightly non-commutative) semi-global setting. Finally we discuss some direct applications concerning the Iwasawa theory of CM elliptic curves, in particular the local Iwasawa Main Conjecture for CM elliptic curves E over the extension of Q_p which trivialises the p-power division points E(p) of E. In this sense the paper is complimentary to the joint work [7] on noncommutative Main Conjectures for CM elliptic curves.

Graded components of local cohomology modules of $\mathfrak{C}$-monomial ideals in characteristic zero

Abstract:Let $A$ be a commutative Noetherian ring of characteristic zero and $R=A[X_1, \ldots, X_d]$ be a polynomial ring over $A$ with the standard $\mathbb{N}^d$-grading. Let $I\subseteq R$ be an ideal which can be generated by elements of the form $aU$ where $a \in A$ (possibly nonunit) and $U$ is a monomial in $X_i$'s. We call such an ideal as a `$\mathfrak{C}$-monomial ideal'. Local cohomology modules supported on monomial ideals gain a great deal of interest due to their applications in the context of toric varieties. It was observed that for $\underline{u} \in \mathbb{Z}^d$, their $\underline{u}^{th}$ components depend only on which coordinates of $\underline{u}$ are negative. In this article, we show that this statement holds true in our general setting, even for certain invariants of the components. We mainly focus on the Bass numbers, injective dimensions, dimensions, associated primes, Bernstein-type dimensions, and multiplicities of the components. Under the extra assumption that $A$ is regular, we describe the finiteness of Bass numbers of each component and bound its injective dimension by the dimension of its support. Finally, we present a structure theorem for the components when $A$ is the ring of formal power series in one variable over a characteristic zero field.

Socle degrees for local cohomology modules of thickenings of maximal minors and sub-maximal Pfaffians

Abstract:Let $S$ be the polynomial ring on the space of non-square generic matrices or the space of odd-sized skew-symmetric matrices, and let $I$ be the determinantal ideal of maximal minors or $\operatorname{Pf}$ the ideal of sub-maximal Pfaffians, respectively. Using desingularizations and representation theory of the general linear group we expand upon work of Raicu--Weyman--Witt to determine the $S$-module structures of $\operatorname{Ext}^j_S(S/I^t, S)$ and $\operatorname{Ext}^j_S(S/\operatorname{Pf}^t, S)$, from which we get the degrees of generators of these $\operatorname{Ext}$ modules. As a consequence, via graded local duality we answer a question of Wenliang Zhang on the socle degrees of local cohomology modules of the form $H^j_\mathfrak{m}(S/I^t)$.

Abstract:Let $(R,\mathfrak{m})$ be a Noetherian local ring and $M$ a finitely generated $R$-module. In this paper, we study the relation among the Hilbert function, Hilbert multiplicity, index of reducibility of an $\mathfrak{m}$-primary ideal, and the irreducible multiplicity under idealization $R\ltimes M$. Some applications to Cohen-Macaulayness and Cohen-Macaulay type of idealization are given.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce and investigate some properties of $\phi$-$\delta$-$S$-primary submodules, which is a generalization of the $\phi$-$\delta$-primary submodules and prime submodules in general. We extend a number of main results about $\phi$-$\delta$-primary submodule and prime submodule into the general framework. Moreover, we show that there is an one-to-one correspondence between the set of all $\phi$-$\delta$-$S$-primary submodules of an $R$-module $M$ containing $K$ and the set of all $\phi$-$\delta$-$S$-primary submodules of $\frac{M}{K}$.
