Abstract:We present a calculation of the SU(3)-breaking corrections to the hyperon transition vector form factors to O(p4) in heavy-baryon chiral perturbation theory with finite-range regularization. Both octet and decuplet degrees of freedom are included. We formulate a chiral expansion at the kinematic point Q2=-(MB1-MB2)2, which can be conveniently accessed in lattice QCD. The two unknown low-energy constants at this point are constrained by lattice QCD simulation results for the Σ-→n and Ξ0→Σ+ transition form factors. Hence, we determine lattice-informed values of f1 at the physical point. This work constitutes progress toward the precise determination of |Vus| from hyperon semileptonic decays.

Abstract:We investigate the hyperon semileptonic decays within the framework of QCD sum rules. The flavor SU(3) symmetry breaking effects are analyzed via the relevant form factors and corresponding branching fractions. Employing the z -series parameterization to capture the q 2 dependence of form factors, we calculate the hyperon semileptonic decay rates and confront them with the recent experimental measurements. Moreover, we calculate as well the non-standard tensor form factors, which involve certain new physics beyond the standard model.

Abstract:We employ the flavor SU(3) symmetry to analyze semileptonic decays of anti-triplet charmed baryons ( Λ c + , Ξ c + , 0 ) and find that the experimental data on B ( Λ c → Λ ℓ + ν ℓ ) implies B ( Ξ c 0 → Ξ − e + ν e ) = ( 4.10 ± 0.46 ) % and B ( Ξ c 0 → Ξ − μ + ν μ ) = ( 3.98 ± 0.57 ) % . When this prediction is confronted with recent experimental results from Belle collaboration B ( Ξ c 0 → Ξ − e + ν e ) = ( 1.31 ± 0.04 ± 0.07 ± 0.38 ) % and B ( Ξ c 0 → Ξ − μ + ν μ ) = ( 1.27 ± 0.06 ± 0.10 ± 0.37 ) % , it is found that the SU(3) symmetry is severely broken. We then consider the generic SU(3) breaking effects both in decay amplitudes and the mixing effect between the anti-triplet and sextet charmed baryons. We find that the pertinent data can be accommodated in different scenarios but the breaking effects are inevitably large. In some interesting scenarios, we also explore the testable implications in these scenarios which can be stringently tested with more data become available. Similar analyses are carried out for the semileptonic decays of anti-triplet beauty baryons to octet baryons and anti-triplet charmed baryons. The validity of SU(3) for these decays can also be examined when data become available.

SU(3)-symmetry Breaking Effects and Mass Splitting in Scalar and Pseudoscalar D Mesons from QCD Sum Rules

Abstract:Motivated by the similar mass splitting in light-light and heavy-light J(P) = 0(-) and J(P) = 0(+) mesons, the SU(3)-symmetry breaking effects splitting the masses in the 0(-) and 0(+) channels of the D meson are analyzed in the framework of QCD sum rules with an underlying c (q) over bar structure. We take into account operator mixing to obtain an infrared stable operator-product expansion method including complete nonperturbative and perturbative O(m(q)) corrections to the correlation function. With the same threshold for both channels, the mass splitting arising from the sum rules has the same behavior as the observed spectrum. In particular, we obtain m(Ds) - m(Dd) similar to 35 MeV in the 0(-) channel and m(Dd) - m(Ds) similar to 12 MeV in the 0(+) channel at a renormalization scale mu = 1 GeV. The splitting can be attributed to the different roles of mass effects and the parity-dependent "force" induced from nonperturbative QCD vacuum. Further analysis shows that due to this parity-dependent force it is natural that the mass gap of the two states in the 0(-) channel is larger than the 0(+) channel. When we increase the renormalization scale to mu = 1: 3 GeV the splitting remains unchanged which demonstrates a correct scale invariance. Combined with heavy quark effective theory, generalizations to other channels of charmed mesons and b-systems are briefly discussed.

Abstract:Present evidence on baryon axial--vector couplings is reviewed, the main emphasis being on internal consistency between asymmetry and rate data. A complete account of all {\sl small} terms in the Standard Model description of these latter leads to {\sl both} consistency {\sl and} evidence for breaking of flavour SU(3) in the axial couplings of octet baryons. Abstract:We benefit from the lattice QCD determination by the HPQCD of the Standard Model (SM) form factors for the [ Phys. Rev. D 101 (2020) 074513] and the SM and tensor ones for the (arXiv:2304.03137 [hep-lat]) semileptonic decays, and the heavy quark effective theory (HQET) relations for the analogous B → D (*) decays obtained by F.U. Bernlochner et al. in Phys. Rev. D 95 (2017) 115008, to extract the leading and sub-leading Isgur-Wise functions for the decays. Further use of the HQET relations allows us to evaluate the corresponding scalar, pseudoscalar and tensor form factors needed for a phenomenological study of new physics (NP) effects on the semileptonic decay. At present, the experimental values for the ratios are the best signal in favor of lepton flavor universality violation (LFUV) seen in charged current (CC) b → c decays. In this work we conduct a study of NP effects on the semileptonic decays by comparing tau spin, angular and spin-angular asymmetry distributions obtained within the SM and three different NP scenarios. As expected from SU(3) light-flavor symmetry, we get results close to the ones found in a similar analysis of the case. The measurement of the semileptonic decays, which is within reach of present experiments, could then be of relevance in helping to establish or rule out LFUV in CC b → c transitions.

Abstract:We theoretically evaluate the decay rates of a scalar glueball up to the order O(alpha(s)), where only two Feynman diagrams contribute and a special attention is paid on possible flavour SU(3) symmetry breaking in the process. It is concluded that the SU(3) flavour symmetry may be respected in any case. However, due to chiral suppression in G(0) -> (q) over barq, Gamma(G(0) -> (Q) over barq (q) over barq) very likely is larger than Gamma(G(0) -> (q) over barq). These results are supported by the experimental data on the decays of chi(c0)(1P) (0(++)). Based on this result, we propose a criterion to identify the scalar glueball.
The Electromagnetic Effects in Isospin Symmetry Breakings of Qq̅ Systems

Abstract:The isospin symmetry breakings of qq̅ are investigated in the QCD sum rule method. The electromagnetic effects are evaluated following the procedure requiring that the electromagnetic effects for charged meson be gauge invariant. We find that the electromagnetic effects are also dominant in the isospin violations of rho meson, which have been shown to be the case in the mass splittings of pions. The numerical results for the difference of pion decay constants and the masses of rho mesons are presented, which are consistent with the data.

Abstract:We examine the effects of SU(3) breaking in the matrix elements of the flavor-diagonal axial-vector currents between octet baryon states. Our calculations of K, η, and π loops indicate that the SU(3) breaking may be substantial for some matrix elements and at the very least indicate large uncertainties. In particular, the strange axial matrix element in the proton determined from the measurements of g1(x) is found to have large uncertainties and might yet be zero. We estimate the strange axial matrix element in the proton to be -0.35≲Δs≲0 and the matrix element of the flavor-singlet current in the proton to be -0.1≲Σ≲+0.3 from the E143 measurement of ∫dxg1(x)=0.127±0.004±0.010. The up-quark content of the Ξ- is discussed and its implications for nonleptonic weak processes discussed. We also estimate the matrix element of the axial-vector current coupling to the Z0 between all octet baryon states. This may be important for neutrino interactions in dense nuclear environments, where hyperons may play an important role.

Su(3) Breaking from Baryon-Meson Fluctuation in Baryon Magnetic Moments

Abstract:We investigate the effect of intrinsic sea quark-antiquark pairs on the magnetic moments of the SU(3) octet baryons. The intrinsic quark-antiquark pairs are introduced by a model of energetically-favoured non-perturbative baryon-meson fluctuations. It is shown that the baryon-meson fluctuation model provides a mechanism of SU(3) symmetry breaking in the baryon sea and is related to the violations of Gell-Mann-Okubo and Coleman-Glashow sum rules for the baryon magnetic moments. Such a model is also consistent with its explanation of the violations of Gottfried and Ellis-Jaffe sum rules in deep inelastic scattering.

Abstract:We present results of quenched $SU(3)$ hadron spectroscopy using $\order(a)$ improved Wilson fermions. The configurations were generated using an $\order(a^2)$ improved 6-link $SU(3)$ pure gauge action at $\beta$'s corresponding to lattice spacings of $0.43$, $0.25$, $0.20$, $0.18$, and $0.15$ fm. We find evidence that fermionic scaling violations are consistent with $\order(a^2)$ errors.

Abstract:The quark flavor sector of the Standard Model is a fertile ground to look for new physics effects through a unitarity test of the Cabbibo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix. We present a lattice QCD calculation of the scalar and the vector form factors (over a large $q^2$ region including $q^2 = 0$) associated with the $D \rightarrow Kl{\nu}$ semi-leptonic decay. This calculation will then allow us to determine the central CKM matrix element, $V_{cs}$ in the Standard Model, by comparing the lattice QCD results for the form factors and the experimental decay rate. This form factor calculation has been performed on the $N_f =2+1+1$ MILC HISQ ensembles with the physical light quark masses.

Abstract:Based on the hadronic resonance picture, we explore a unified framework to describe the observed Zcs and Zc states that are close to the thresholds of the D(*)D ̄s(*) and D(*)D ̄(*) systems, respectively. We assume that the Zcs(4000) and Zcs(3985) are two different states. Specifically, we assign the Zcs(4000) as the SU(3) partner of the Zc(3900) ( JPC=1+− ) due to its observation in the J/ΨK channel, the difficulty of this assignment is the large width difference between the Zcs(4000) and the Zc(3900) state. Then the Zcs(3985) should corresponds to the Zc state that is close to the threshold of DD ̄* system with JPC=1++ , the difficulty of this assignment is the absence of such a Zc state in experiment. We construct the effective potentials of the Zcs and Zc states by analogy with the effective potentials of the leading-order and next-to-leading-order N−N ̄ interactions. Then we introduce an SU(3) breaking factor gx to identify the differences between the effective potentials in the Zcs and Zc states. We perform two calculations to discuss the differences and similarities of the Zcs and Zc states. In the first calculation, we show that the above two difficulties can be explained simultaneously by the inclusion of the SU(3) breaking effect. In the second calculation, we show that this framework is promising to simultaneously describe the interactions of the observed Zcs and Zc states that are close to the thresholds of the D(*)D ̄s(*) and D(*)D ̄(*) systems, respectively. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.109.034010 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Abstract:Using the standard parametrization of the dipole form, we have studied the vulnerability of $Q^2$ on the vector form factors ($f_i^{B_iB_f}(Q^2)$) and axial-vector form factors ($g_i^{B_iB_f}(Q^2)$), $i=1,2,3$ computed for the semileptonic $B_i \rightarrow B_f l \bar{\nu}$ decays for hyperons in the framework of chiral constituent quark model ($\chi$CQM). Both, strangeness changing as well as strangeness conserving decays have been examined. We also present the dependence of the ratio of hyperon semileptonic decay constants $g_1(Q^2)/f_1(Q^2)$ for these decays. Further, we calculate the CKM matrix elements $V_{ud}$ from strangeness conserving and $V_{us}$ from strangeness changing hyperon decays.

Chiral Behavior of K →π L Ν Decay Form Factors in Lattice QCD with Exact Chiral Symmetry

Abstract:We calculate the form factors of the $K \to \pi l \nu$ semileptonic decays in three-flavor lattice QCD, and study their chiral behavior as a function of the momentum transfer and the Nambu-Goldstone boson masses. Chiral symmetry is exactly preserved by using the overlap quark action, which enables us to directly compare the lattice data with chiral perturbation theory (ChPT). We generate gauge ensembles at a lattice spacing of 0.11fm with four pion masses covering 290-540 MeV and a strange quark mass m_s close to its physical value. By using the all-to-all quark propagator, we calculate the vector and scalar form factors with high precision. Their dependence on m_s and the momentum transfer is studied by using the reweighting technique and the twisted boundary conditions for the quark fields. We compare the results for the semileptonic form factors with ChPT at next-to-next-to leading order in detail. While many low-energy constants appear at this order, we make use of our data of the light meson electromagnetic form factors in order to control the chiral extrapolation. We determine the normalization of the form factors as f_+(0) = 0.9636(36)(+57/-35), and observe reasonable agreement of their shape with experiment.

Abstract:We calculate axial vector and vector form factors for the semileptonic decay Ds to phi using HISQ valence quarks on MILC ensembles with 2+1 flavours of asqtad sea quarks. Using twisted boundary conditions to tune the quarks' momenta, we compute form factors at q^2 = 0 on coarse lattices. We find V(0)=0.903(67), A_1(0)= 0.603(20), A_2(0)=0.401(80) and A_0(0)=0.686(17), which we compare to experimental data and previous quenched lattice QCD calculations.

Abstract:The ratio between the anomalous magnetic moments of proton and neutron has recently been suggested to be connected to the ratio of proton momentum fractions carried by valence quarks. This relation has been obtained within a parametrization of the Generalized Parton Distributions (GPD) \cite{gpv}, but it is completely independent of such a parametrization.\\ It will be shown that using different CQMs this relation holds within a few percent accuracy. This agreement is based on what all the CQMs have in common: the effective degrees of freedom of the three constituent quarks and the underlying SU(6) symmetry.\\ On the other hand, the experimental value of the ratio is not reproduced by CQMs. This means that the SU(6)-breaking mechanism contained in the phenomenological partonic distributions does not correspond to the SU(6) breaking mechanism implemented in the CQMs we have analyzed \cite{noi03}.\\ We will also show how this relation can be used in order to understand in which way to implement an $SU(6)$-breaking mechanism and to test models.

Abstract:In light of recently found deviations of the experimental data from predictions from QCD factorization for B(s)→D(s)P decays, where P={π,K} , we systematically probe the current status of the SU(3)F expansion from a fit to experimental branching ratio data without any further theory input. We find that the current data are in agreement with the power counting of the SU(3)F expansion. While the SU(3)F limit is excluded at >5σ , amplitude-level SU(3)F -breaking contributions of ∼20% suffice for an excellent description of the data. SU(3)F breaking is needed in tree ( >5σ ) and color-suppressed tree ( 2.4σ ) diagrams. We are not yet sensitive to SU(3)F breaking in exchange diagrams. From the underlying SU(3)F parametrization we predict the unmeasured branching ratios B(B ̄s0→π−D+)=2B(B ̄s0→π0D0)=[0.3,7.2]×10−6 of suppressed decays that can be searched for at the LHCb experiment. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.109.113006 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
