Abstract:I report preliminary CLEO-c results on purely leptonic decays of the Ds using 195/pb of data at 4.170 GeV. We measure fDs = 280.1 +/- 11.6 +/- 6.0 MeV, and fDs/fD+ = 1.26 +/- 0.11 +/- 0.03.

Abstract:We examine e(+)e(-) -> D-s(-) D-s*(+) and D-s*(-) D-s(+) interactions at 4170 MeV using the CLEO-c detector in order to measure the decay constant f(Ds+) with good precision. Previously our measurements were substantially higher than the most precise lattice based QCD calculation of (241 +/- 3) MeV. Here we use the D-s(+) -> l(+) v channel, where the l(+) designates either a mu(+) or a tau(+) when the tau(+) -> pi(+) (v) over bar Analyzing both modes independently, we determine B(D-s(+) -> mu(+)v) = (0.565 +/- 0.045 +/- 0.017)%, and B(D-s(+) -> tau(+) v) = (6.42 +/- 0.81 +/- 0.18)%. We also analyze them simultaneously to find an effective value of B-eff(D-s(+) -> mu(+)v) = (0.591 +/- 0.037 +/- 0.018)% and f(Ds+) = (263.3 +/- 8.2 +/- 3.9) MeV. Combining with the CLEO-c value determined independently using D-s(+) -> tau(+) v, tau(+) -> e(+) v (v) over bar decays, we extract f(Ds+) = (259.5 +/- 6.6 +/- 3.1) MeV. Combining with our previous determination of B(D+ -> mu(+)v), we extract the ratio f(Ds+) / f(D+) = 1.26 +/- 0.06 +/- 0.02. No evidence is found for a CP asymmetry between Gamma(D-s(+) -> mu(+)v) and Gamma(D-s(-) -> mu(+)v); specifically the fractional difference in rates is measured to be (4.8 +/- 6.1)%. Finally, we find B(D-s(+) -> e(+)v) < 1.2 x 10(-4) at 90% confidence level.

Abstract:Analyzing 600/pb of e+e- collisions at 4170 MeV center-of-mass energy with the CLEO-c detector, we measure the branching fraction B(Ds+ -> tau+ nu)=(5.52\pm 0.57\pm 0.21)% using the tau+ -> rho^+ anti-nu decay mode. Combining with other CLEO measurements of B(Ds+ -> tau+ nu) we determine the pseudoscalar decay constant fDs = (259.7\pm 7.8\pm 3.4) MeV consistent with the value obtained from our Ds+ -> mu+ nu measurement of (257.6\pm 10.3\pm 4.3) MeV. Combining these measurements we find a value of fDs=(259.0 \pm 6.2\pm 3.0) MeV, that differs from the most accurate prediction based on unquenched lattice gauge theory of (241\pm 3) MeV by 2.4 standard deviations. We also present the first measurements of B(Ds+ -> K0 pi+ pi0)=(1.00\pm0.18\pm 0.04)%, and B(Ds+ -> pi+ pi0 pi0)=(0.65\pm0.13\pm 0.03)%, and measure a new value for B(Ds+ -> eta rho+)=(8.9\pm0.6\pm0.5)%.

Abstract:We report the results of a precise measurement of the Ds meson lifetime based on 1662 +/- 56 fully reconstructed Ds -> phi pi decays, from the charm hadroproduction experiment E791 at Fermilab. Using an unbinned maximum likelihood fit, we measure the Ds lifetime to be 0.518 +/- 0.014 +/- 0.007 ps. The ratio of the measured Ds lifetime to the world average D0 lifetime is 1.25 +/- 0.04. This result differs from unity by six standard deviations, indicating significantly different lifetimes for the Ds and the D0.

Abstract:The branching fraction for the decay $D^+_s\to\tau^{+}\nu_{\tau}$, with $\tau^{+}\to e^{+} \nu_{e}\bar{\nu}_{\tau}$, is measured using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 427 fb^{-1} collected at center of mass energies near 10.58 GeV with the \slshape B\kern-0.1em{\smaller A}\kern-0.1em B\kern-0.1em{\smaller A\kern-0.2em R} detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ collider at SLAC. In the process $e^{+}e^{-}\to c\bar c\to D^{*+}_s \kern 0.2em\bar{\kern -0.2em D}{}_{\mathrm{TAG}} \kern 0.2em\bar{\kern -0.2em K}{} X$, the $D^{*+}_s$ meson is reconstructed as a missing particle, and the subsequent decay $D^{*+}_s\to D^+_s\gamma$ yields an inclusive $D^+_s$ data sample. Here $_{\mathrm{TAG}}$ refers to a fully reconstructed hadronic $\kern 0.2em\bar{\kern -0.2em D}{}$ decay, $\kern 0.2em\bar{\kern -0.2em K}{}$ is a $K^-$ or $\kern 0.2em\bar{\kern -0.2em K}{}^0$, and $X$ stands for any number of charged or neutral pions. The decay $D^+_s\to K^0_{\scriptscriptstyle S} K^{+}$ is isolated also, and from ratio of event yields and known branching fractions, ${\cal B} (D^+_s\to\tau^{+}\nu_{\tau})$ = (4.5\pm0.5\pm0.4\pm0.3% is determined. The pseudoscalar decay constant is extracted to be $f_{D_s}$ = (233\pm13\pm10\pm7) MeV, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third results from the uncertainties on the external measurements used as input to the calculation.

A Measurement of the Ds+ Lifetime

Abstract:A high statistics measurement of the Ds+ lifetime from the Fermilab fixed-target FOCUS photoproduction experiment is presented. We describe the analysis of the two decay modes, Ds+ -> phi(1020)pi+ and Ds+ -> \bar{K}*(892)0K+, used for the measurement. The measured lifetime is 507.4 +/- 5.5 (stat.) +/- 5.1 (syst.) fs using 8961 +/- 105 Ds+ -> phi(1020)pi+ and 4680 +/- 90 Ds+ -> \bar{K}*(892)0K+ decays. This is a significant improvement over the present world average.

Abstract:Using the method of tagging a �� first, then checking the recoil side to see if it is a DS meson, two DS �� ̦� and three DS �� Ӧ� �� ̦ͦͦ� candidate events are found from a data sample corresponding to 22.3pb-1, which has been collected at BES at Ecm = 4.03GeV. The absolute branching ratio of DS leptonic decay are determined to be Br(DS �� ̦�) = (0.72-0.44 +0.70)% and Br(DS �� Ӧ�) = (14-8 +11)%. And the DS decay constant which is independent of any model is given as fDS = (355-90-28 +96+28)MeV.

Abstract:Using e+e- -> Ds^-Ds^{*+} and Ds^{*-}Ds^+ interactions at 4170 MeV collected with the CLEO-c detector, we investigate the semileptonic decays Ds+ -> f0(980) e+ nu, and Ds+ -> phi e+ nu. By examining the decay rates as functions of the four-momentum transfer squared, q^2, we measure the ratio [dB/dq^2(Ds+ -> f0(980) e+ nu) B(f0 -> pi+pi-)]/[dB/dq^2(Ds+ -> phi e+ nu)B(phi -> K+K-)] at q^2 of zero to be (42 +/- 11)%. This ratio has been predicted to equal the rate ratio [B(Bs -> J/psi f_0)B(f0 -> pi+pi-)]/[B(Bs -> J/psi phi)B(phi -> K+K-)], thus indicating that the CP eigenstate J/psi f0 could be useful for measuring CP violation via Bs mixing. Assuming a simple pole model for the form factor |f+(q^2)| in the f0 e+ nu decay, we find a pole mass of (1.7 {+4.5} {-0.7} +/- 0.2) GeV. We also determine the f0 mass and width as (977 {+11}{-9} +/- 1) MeV, and (91{+30}{-22}+/- 3) MeV, respectively. In addition, we present updated results for B(Ds+ -> f0(980) e+ nu) B(f0 -> pi+pi-)=(0.20 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.01)%, and B}(Ds+ -> phi e+ nu)=(2.36 +/- 0.23 +/- 0.13)%.

Abstract:We have studied the leptonic decay D-s(+) -> tau(+) v(tau), via the decay channel tau(+) -> e(+) v(e) (v) over bar (tau), using a sample of tagged D-s(+) decays collected near the D-s*D-+/-(s)+/- peak production energy in e(+)e(-) collisions with the CLEO-c detector. We obtain B(D-s(+) -> tau(+) v(tau) ) = 5.30 +/- 0.47 +/- 0.22)% and determine the decay constant f(Ds) = (252.5 +/- 11.1 +/- 5.2) MeV, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.

Abstract:Based on 10.64 fb−1 of e+e− collision data taken at center-of-mass energies between 4.237 and 4.699 GeV with the BESIII detector, we study the leptonic Ds+ decays using the e+e−→Ds*+Ds*− process. The branching fractions of Ds+→l+νl(l=μ,τ) are measured to be BDs+→μ+νμ=(0.547±0.026stat±0.016syst)% and BDs+→τ+ντ=(5.60±0.16stat±0.20syst)% , respectively. The product of the decay constant and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |Vcs| is determined to be fDs+|Vcs|=(246.5±5.9stat±3.6syst±0.5input)μν and fDs+|Vcs|=(252.7±3.6stat±4.5syst±0.6input)τν MeV , respectively. Taking the value of |Vcs| from a global fit in the Standard Model, we obtain fDs+=(253.2±6.0stat±3.7syst±0.6input)μν and fDs+=(259.6±3.7stat±4.6syst±0.6input)τν MeV , respectively. Conversely, taking the value for fDs+ from the latest lattice quantum chromodynamics calculation, we obtain |Vcs|=(0.986±0.023stat±0.014syst±0.003input)μν and |Vcs|=(1.011±0.014stat±0.018syst±0.003input)τν , respectively. https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.110.052002 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Improved Measurements Ofdmeson Semileptonic Decays Toπandkmesons

Abstract:Using the entire CLEO-c {psi}(3770){yields}DD event sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 818 pb{sup -1} and approximately 5.4x10{sup 6} DD events, we present a study of the decays D{sup 0}{yields}{pi}{sup -}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e}, D{sup 0}{yields}K{sup -}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e}, D{sup +}{yields}{pi}{sup 0}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e}, and D{sup +}{yields}K{sup 0}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e}. Via a tagged analysis technique, in which one D is fully reconstructed in a hadronic mode, partial rates for semileptonic decays by the other D are measured in several q{sup 2} bins. We fit these rates using several form factor parametrizations and report the results, including form factor shape parameters and the branching fractions B(D{sup 0}{yields}{pi}{sup -}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e})=(0.288{+-}0.008{+-}0.003)%, B(D{sup 0}{yields}K{sup -}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e})=(3.50{+-}0.03{+-}0.04)%, B(D{sup +}{yields}{pi}{sup 0}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e})=(0.405{+-}0.016{+-}0.009)%, and B(D{sup +}{yields}K{sup 0}e{sup +}{nu}{sub e})=(8.83{+-}0.10{+-}0.20)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. Taking input from lattice quantum chromodynamics, we also find |V{sub cd}|=0.234{+-}0.007{+-}0.002{+-}0.025 and |V{sub cs}|=0.985{+-}0.009{+-}0.006{+-}0.103, where the third uncertainties are from lattice quantum chromodynamics.

Abstract:We measure the absolute branching fractions of D-s semileptonic decays where the hadron in the final state is one of phi, eta, eta', K-S(0), K*(0), and f(0), using 2.8 x 10(5) e(+)e(-) -> DsDs* decays collected in the CLEO-c detector at a center-of-mass energy close to 4170 MeV. We obtain B(D-s(+) -> phi e(+)nu(e)) = (2.29 +/- 0.37 +/- 0.11)%, B(D-s(+) -> eta e(+)nu(e)) = (2.48 +/- 0.29 +/- 0.13)%, B(D-s(+) -> eta'e(+)nu(e)) = (0.91 +/- 0.33 +/- 0.05)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. We also obtain B(D-s(+) -> K(0)e(+)nu(e)) = (0.37 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.02)%, and B(D-s(+) -> K*(0)e(+)nu(e)) = (0.18 +/- 0.07 +/- 0.01)%, which are the first measurements of Cabibbo suppressed exclusive D-s semileptonic decays, and, B(D-s(+) -> f(0)e(+)nu(e)) x B(f(0) -> pi(+)pi(-)) = (0.13 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.01)%. This is the first absolute product branching fraction determination for a semileptonic decay including a scalar meson in the final state.

Abstract:We perform a lattice calculation on the radiative decay of Ds* using the ( 2+1 )-flavor Wilson-clover gauge ensembles generated by CLQCD collaboration. A method allowing us to calculate the form factor with zero transfer momentum is proposed and applied to the radiative transition Ds*→Dsγ and the Dalitz decay Ds*→Dse+e− . After a continuum extrapolation using three lattice spacings, we obtain Γ(Ds*→Dsγ)=0.0549(54) keV , where the error is purely statistical. The result is consistent with previous lattice calculations but with a error reduced to only a fifth of the before. The Dalitz decay rate is also calculated for the first time and the ratio with the radiative transition is found to be Ree=0.624(3)% . A total decay width of Ds* can then be determined as 0.0587(54) keV taking into account the experimental branching fraction. Combining with the most recent experimental measurement on the branching fraction of the purely leptonic decay Ds+,*→e+νe , we obtain the quantity fDs*|Vcs|=(190.5−41.7stat+55.1±12.6syst) MeV , where the stat. is only the statistical error from the experiment, and syst. results from the experimental systematic uncertainty and the lattice statistical error. Abstract:Using data collected on the psi(3770) resonance and near the D-s*D-+/-(s)-/+ peak production energy by the CLEO-c detector, we study the decays of the possible D -> PP modes and report measurements of or upper limits on all branching fractions for Cabibbo-favored, singly Cabibbo-suppressed, and doubly Cabibbo-suppressed D -> PP decays except modes involving K-L(0) (and except D-0 -> K+pi(-)). We normalize with respect to the Cabibbo-favored D modes, D-0 -> K-pi(+), D+ -> K-pi(+)pi(+), and D-s(+) -> (K+KS0).

Abstract:We present results for the leptonic decay constants of the D and D$_{\rm s}$ mesons from $N_{\rm f}=2+1$ lattice QCD. We employ a set of 49 high statistics gauge ensembles generated by the Coordinated Lattice Simulations (CLS) effort utilising non-perturbatively improved Wilson fermions and the tree-level Symanzik improved gauge action at six values of the lattice spacing in the range $a = 0.098\,$fm down to $a = 0.039\,$fm, with pion masses varying from around $420\,$MeV down to below the physical point. The ensembles lie on three trajectories in the quark mass plane, two trajectories intersecting close to the physical quark mass point and the third one approaching the SU(3) chiral limit, enabling tight control of the light and strange quark mass dependence. We obtain $f_{\mathrm{D_s}}=246.8(1.3)\,$MeV, $f_\mathrm{D}=208.4(1.5)\,$MeV and $f_{\mathrm{D_s}}/f_\mathrm{D}=1.1842(36)$, where the precision of our results is mostly limited by the determination of the scale.

Abstract:We examine e+e− → D− s D∗+ s and D∗− s D+ s interactions at 4170 MeV using the CLEO-c detector in order to measure the decay constant fD+ s with good precision. Previously our measurements were substantially higher than the most precise lattice based QCD calculation of (241±3) MeV. Here we use the D+ s → `+ν channel, where the `+ designates either a μ+ or a τ+, when the τ+ → π+ν. Analyzing both modes independently, we determine B(D+ s → μ+ν) = (0.565±0.045±0.017)%, and B(D+ s → τ+ν) = (6.42 ± 0.81 ± 0.18)%. We also analyze them simultaneously to find an effective value of Beff(D+ s → μ+ν) = (0.591±0.037±0.018)% and fD+ s = (263.3±8.2±3.9) MeV. Combining with the CLEO-c value determined independently using D+ s → τ+ν, τ+ → e+νν̄ decays, we extract fD+ s = (259.5± 6.6± 3.1) MeV. Combining with our previous determination of B(D+ → μ+ν), we extract the ratio fD+ s /fD+ = 1.26± 0.06± 0.02. No evidence is found for a CP asymmetry between Γ(D+ s → μ+ν) and Γ(D− s → μ−ν); specifically the fractional difference in rates is measured to be (4.8±6.1)%. Finally, we find B(D+ s → e+ν) < 1.2× 10−4 at 90% confidence level.

Abstract:We present a measurement of Γ(Ds+→μ+ν)Γ(Ds+→φπ+)=0.245±0.052±0.074. Using this ratio and B(Ds+→φπ+)=(3.7±0.9)% we extract fDs=344±37±52±42 MeV, where the last error is due to the uncertainty in the Ds+→φπ+ absolute branching ratio. This result is larger than most theoretical predictions.

Abstract:Utilizing the full CLEO-c data sample of 818 pb^-1 of e^+e^- data taken at the ψ(3770) resonance, we update our measurements of absolute hadronic branching fractions of charged and neutral D mesons. We previously reportedresults from subsets of these data. Using a double tag technique we obtain branching fractions for three D^0 and six D^+ modes, including the reference branching fractions ℬ (D^0→ K^-π^+)=(3.934 ± 0.021 ± 0.061)% and ℬ (D^+ → K^- π^+π^+)=(9.224 ± 0.059 ± 0.157)%. The uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In these measurements we include the effects of final-state radiation by allowing for additional unobserved photons in the final state, and the systematic errors include our estimates of the uncertainties of these effects. Furthermore, using an independent measurement of the luminosity, we obtain the cross sections σ(e^+e^-→ D^0D^0)=(3.607± 0.017 ± 0.056) nb and σ(e^+e^-→ D^+D^-)=(2.882± 0.018 ± 0.042) nb at a center of mass energy, E_cm = 3774 ± 1 MeV.
