Abstract:This paper proposes an iterative algorithm for solving a general finite-dimensional linear operator equation T(x)=f and demonstrates that it will get the exact solution within a finite number of iteration steps. This algorithm unifies all the iterative methods in Huang (2008) [3], Peng (2005) [7] and Peng and Peng (2006) [8] and provides an iterative method for solving an inverse problem related to Hermitian-generalized Hamiltonian matrices [2], [12].

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the local and semilocal convergence of an iterative method for solving nonlinear systems of equations. We first establish the conditions under which these methods converge locally to the solution. Then, we extend our analysis to examine the semilocal convergence of these methods, considering their behavior when starting from initial guesses that are not necessarily close to the solution. Iterative approaches for solving nonlinear systems of equations must take into account the radius of convergence, computable upper error bounds, and the uniqueness of solutions. These points have not been addressed in earlier studies. Moreover, we provide numerical examples to demonstrate the theoretical findings and compare the performance of these methods under different circumstances. Finally, we conclude that our examination offers a significant understanding of the convergence characteristics of previous iterative techniques for solving nonlinear equation systems.

Abstract:In this paper we describe an iterative operator-splitting method for unbounded operators. We derive error bounds for iterative splitting methods in the presence of unbounded operators and semigroup operators. Here mixed applications of hyperbolic and parabolic type are allowed and discussed in the applications. Mixed experiments are applied to ordinary differential equations and evolutionary Schrödinger equations.

Abstract:We consider linear ill-conditioned operator equations in a Hilbert space setting. Motivated by the aggregation method, we consider approximate solutions constructed from linear combinations of Tikhonov regularization, which amounts to finding solutions in a rational Krylov space. By mixing these with usual Krylov spaces, we consider least-squares problem in these mixed rational spaces. Applying the Arnoldi method leads to a sparse, pentadiagonal representation of the forward operator, and we introduce the Lanczos method for solving the least-squares problem by factorizing this matrix. Finally, we present an equivalent conjugate-gradient-type method that does not rely on explicit orthogonalization but uses short-term recursions and Tikhonov regularization in each second step. We illustrate the convergence and regularization properties by some numerical examples.

Abstract:In these notes we propose and analyze an inertial type method for obtaining stable approximate solutions to nonlinear ill-posed operator equations. The method is based on the Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) iteration. The main obtained results are: monotonicity and convergence for exact data, stability and semi-convergence for noisy data. Regarding numerical experiments we consider: i) a parameter identification problem in elliptic PDEs, ii) a parameter identification problem in machine learning; the computational efficiency of the proposed method is compared with canonical implementations of the LM method.

Abstract:We study the Landweber scheme for linear compact operator equation in infinite Hilbert spaces. Using the singular value decomposition for compact operators, we obtain a formula for the Landweber scheme after n iterations and iterative truncated error and consequently establish its convergence conditions. Our results extend known results on convergence conditions. As applications, we apply the Landweber scheme to the X-ray tomography and extrapolation of band-limited functions, and establish accelerated strategies for each application. Abstract:We consider linear bounded operators acting in Banach spaces with a basis, such operators can be represented by an infinite matrix. We prove that for an invertible operator there exists a sequence of invertible finite-dimensional operators so that the family of norms of their inverses is uniformly bounded. It leads to the fact that solutions of finite-dimensional equations converge to the solution of initial operator equation with infinite-dimensional matrix.

Abstract:We present economical iterative algorithms built on the Biconjugate $A$-Orthonormalization Procedure for real unsymmetric and complex non-Hermitian systems. The principal characteristics of the developed solvers is that they are fast convergent and cheap in memory. We report on a large combination of numerical experiments to demonstrate that the proposed family of methods is highly competitive and often superior to other popular algorithms built upon the Arnoldi method and the biconjugate Lanczos procedures for unsymmetric linear sytems.

Abstract:In this paper we deal with an equation in nonlinear combination of iterates. Although it can be reduced by the logarithm conjugacy to a form for application of Schauder's or Banach's fixed point theorems, a difficulty called Zero Problem is encountered for continuous solutions because the domain does not contain $0$. So we consider solutions with weaker regularity, using the Knaster-Tarski fixed point theorem for complete lattices to give order-preserving solutions. Then we give semi-continuous solutions and integrable solutions.

Abstract:Two types of non-Hermitian systems are considered. One of them is both non-Hermitian and non-Linear and an iterative process is used to obtain excited state solutions; the ground state may be solved exactly. The model has been used in many physical systems and the method of calculation uses a simple Hilbert space with a generalised inner product. The second type has a complex term in the Hamiltonian and is a well studied problem in the infinite interval. Here a finite interval is considered and a complete set of eigenfunctions for this interval is used.The relationship between the finite interval states and the infinite interval states is discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the iterative methods for the solution of different types of nonlinear matrix equations. More specifically, we consider iterative methods for the minimal nonnegative solution of a set of Riccati equations, a nonnegative solution of a quadratic matrix equation, and the maximal positive definite solution of the equation X+A∗X−1A=Q. We study the recent iterative methods for computing the solution to the above specific type of equations and propose more effective modifications of these iterative methods. In addition, we make comments and comparisons of the existing methods and show the effectiveness of our methods by illustration examples.

Abstract:In this paper we present equivalence results for several types of unbounded operator functions. A generalization of the concept equivalence after extension is introduced and used to prove equivalence and linearization for classes of unbounded operator functions. Further, we deduce methods of finding equivalences to operator matrix functions that utilizes equivalences of the entries. Finally, a method of finding equivalences and linearizations to a general case of operator matrix polynomials is presented.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce an iterative method for finding a common element of the set of solutions of equilibrium problems, of the set of variational inequalities and of the set of common fixed points of an infinite family of nonexpansive mappings in the framework of real Hilbert spaces. Strong convergence of the proposed iterative algorithm is obtained. As an application, we utilize the main results which improve the corresponding results announced in Chang et al. (Nonlinear Anal, 70:3307-3319, 2009), Colao et al. (J Math Anal Appl, 344:340-352, 2008), Plubtieng and Punpaeng (Appl Math Comput, 197:548-558, 2008) to study the optimization problem.

Abstract:In this article, we generalize and investigate existence of solution for infinite systems of nonlinear integral equations with two variables in a given Banach sequence space BC(R+ x R+,c) using Meir-Keeler condensing and noncompactness. Validity of results are shown with the help of an illustrative example. We also introduce a coupled semi-analytic method in the case of two variables in order to construct an iteration algorithm to find a numerical solution for above-mentioned problem. The numerical results show that the produced sequence for approximating the solution in the examples is in the Banach sequence space BC(R+ x R+,c) itself.

Abstract:The local analysis of convergence for two competing methods of order seven or eight is developed to solve Banach space‐valued equations. Previous studies have used the eighth or ninth derivative of the operator involved, which do not appear on the methods, to show the convergence of these methods on the finite‐dimensional Euclidean space. In addition, no computable error distances or isolation of the solution results are provided in this study. These problems limit the applicability of this method to solving equations with operators that are at least nine times differentiable. In the current study, only conditions on the first derivative, appearing in these methods, are employed to show the convergence of these methods. Moreover, computable error bounds depend on the distance in the world as well as the isolation of the solution. Results are provided based on generalized continuity conditions on the first derivative. Furthermore, the more interesting semi‐local analysis of convergence not given before these methods is presented using a majorizing sequence. Finally, a great deal of impressive numerical results has been shown on real‐world problems.

Abstract:Based on the success of a well-known method for solving higher order linear differential equations, a study of two of the most important mathematical features of that method, viz. the null spaces and commutativity of the product of unbounded linear operators on a Hilbert space is carried out. A principle is proved describing solutions for the product of such operators in terms of the solutions for each of the factors when the null spaces of those factors satisfy a certain geometric relation to one another. Another geometric principle equating commutativity of a closed densely defined operator and a projection to stability of the range of the projection under the closed operator is proved.

Abstract:In the present paper, we propose a new approach to solving a class of generalized split problems. This approach will open some new directions for research to solve the other split problems, for instance, the split common zero point problem and the split common fixed point problem. More precisely, we study the split common solution problem for monotone operator equations in real Hilbert spaces. To find a solution to this problem, we propose and establish the strong convergence of the two new iterative methods by using the Tikhonov regularization method. Meantime, we also study the stability of the iterative methods. Finally, two numerical examples are also given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

On low-rank approximability of solutions to high-dimensional operator equations and eigenvalue problems

Abstract:Low-rank tensor approximation techniques attempt to mitigate the overwhelming complexity of linear algebra tasks arising from high-dimensional applications. In this work, we study the low-rank approximability of solutions to linear systems and eigenvalue problems on Hilbert spaces. Although this question is central to the success of all existing solvers based on low-rank tensor techniques, very few of the results available so far allow to draw meaningful conclusions for higher dimensions. In this work, we develop a constructive framework to study low-rank approximability. One major assumption is that the involved linear operator admits a low-rank representation with respect to the chosen tensor format, a property that is known to hold in a number of applications. Simple conditions, which are shown to hold for a fairly general problem class, guarantee that our derived low-rank truncation error estimates do not deteriorate as the dimensionality increases.
