Abstract:In this paper we aim to review some works on the asymptotic behaviors of random partitions. The focus is upon two basic probability models— uniform partitions and Plancherel partitions. One of fundamental results is the existence of limit shapes, which corresponds to the classic law of large numbers. The fluctuations around the limit shape are also considered; the well-known Gumbel distribution, Tracy-Widom distribution and normal distribution will be used to describe the asymptotic fluctuations at the edge and in the bulk of the spectrum of random partitions. The technique used in asymptotic analysis is the so-called poissonization and depoissonization method, a peculiar conditioning argument. We are content with describing some basic facts and remarkable results; no complete proof is given.

Abstract:We establish the asymptotic expansion of certain integrals of [Formula: see text] classes on moduli spaces of curves [Formula: see text], when either the [Formula: see text] or [Formula: see text] goes to infinity. Our main tools are cut-join type recursion formulae from the Witten–Kontsevich theorem, as well as asymptotics of solutions to the first Painlevé equation. We also raise a conjecture on large genus asymptotics for [Formula: see text]-point functions of [Formula: see text] classes and partially verify the positivity of coefficients in generalized Mirzakhani’s formula of higher Weil–Petersson volumes.

Abstract:Recently, Debruyne and Tenenbaum proved asymptotic formulas for the number of partitions with parts in ( ) and good analytic properties of the corresponding zeta function, generalizing work of Meinardus. In this paper, we extend their work to prove asymptotic formulas if is a multiset of integers and the zeta function has multiple poles. In particular, our results imply an asymptotic formula for the number of irreducible representations of degree n of . We also study the Witten zeta function , which is of independent interest.

Abstract:In 1917, Hardy and Ramanujan obtained the asymptotic formula for the classical partition function $p(n)$. The classical partition function $p(n)$ has been extensively studied. Recently, Luca and Ralaivaosaona obtained the asymptotic formula for the square-root function. Many mathematicians have paid much attention to congruences on some special colored partition functions. In this paper, we investigate the general colored partition functions. Given positive integers $1=s_1<s_2<\dots <s_k$ and $\ell_1, \ell_2,\dots , \ell_k$. Let $g(\mathbf{s}, \mathbf{l}, n)$ be the number of $\ell$-colored partitions of $n$ with $\ell_i$ of the colors appearing only in multiplies of $s_i\ (1\le i\le k)$, where $\ell = \ell_1+\cdots +\ell_k$. By using the elementary method we obtain an asymptotic formula for the partition function $g(\mathbf{s}, \mathbf{l}, n)$ with an explicit error term.

Abstract:Answering a question of Geoff Robinson, we compute the large n limiting proportion of i(n,q)/q^[n^2/2], where i(n,q) denotes the number of involutions in GL(n,q). We give similar results for the finite unitary, symplectic, and orthogonal groups, in both odd and even characteristic. At the heart of this work are certain new "sum=product" identities. Our self-contained treatment of the enumeration of involutions in even characteristic symplectic and orthogonal groups may also be of interest.

Abstract:A well-known result from Hardy and Ramanujan gives an asymptotic expression for the number of possible ways to express an integer as the sum of smaller integers. In this vein, we consider the general partitioning problem of writing an integer $n$ as a sum of summands from a given sequence $\gL$ of non-decreasing integers. Under suitable assumptions on the sequence $\gL$, we obtain results using associated zeta-functions and saddle-point techniques. We also calculate higher moments of the sequence $\gL$ as well as the expected number of summands. Applications are made to various sequences, including those of Barnes and Epstein types. These results are of potential interest in statistical mechanics in the context of Bose-Einstein condensation.

Abstract:Using elementary methods, we prove new formulas for $\operatorname{pp}(n)$, the number of plane partitions of $n$, $\operatorname{pp}_r(n)$, the number of plane partitions of $n$ with at most $r$ rows, $\operatorname{pp}^s(n)$, the number of strict plane partitions of $n$ and $\operatorname{pp}^{so}(n)$, the number of symmetric plane partitions of $n$. Also, we give new formulas for $P_r(n)$, the number of $r$-component multipartitions of $n$.

Abstract:Abstract Let denote the number of ‐dimensional partitions with entries from . Building upon the works of Balogh–Treglown–Wagner and Noel–Scott–Sudakov, we show that when , holds for all . This makes progress toward a conjecture of Moshkovitz–Shapira [ Adv. in Math . 262 (2014), 1107–1129]. Via the main result of Moshkovitz and Shapira, our estimate also determines asymptotically a Ramsey‐theoretic parameter related to Erdős–Szekeres‐type functions, thus solving a problem of Fox, Pach, Sudakov, and Suk [ Proc. Lond. Math. Soc . 105 (2012), 953–982]. Our main result is a new supersaturation theorem for antichains in , which may be of independent interest.

Abstract:An approximate formula for the partitions of Goldbach's Conjecture is derived using Prime Number Theorem and a heuristic probabilistic approach. A strong form of Goldbach's conjecture follows in the form of a lower bounding function for the partitions of Goldbach's conjecture. Numerical computations suggest that the lower and upper bounding functions for the partitions satisfy a simple functional equation. Assuming that this invariant scaling property holds for all even integer $n$, the lower and upper bounds can be expressed as simple exponentials.

Abstract:We generalize the generating formula for plane partitions known as MacMahon's formula as well as its analog for strict plane partitions. We give a 2-parameter generalization of these formulas related to Macdonald's symmetric functions. The formula is especially simple in the Hall-Littlewood case. We also give a bijective proof of the analog of MacMahon's formula for strict plane partitions.

Abstract:Cylindric plane partitions may be thought of as a natural generalization of reverse plane partitions. A generating series for the enumeration of cylindric plane partitions was recently given by Borodin. As in the reverse plane partition case, the right hand side of this identity admits a simple factorization form in terms of the "hook lengths" of the individual boxes in the underlying shape. The main result of this paper is a new bijective proof of Borodin's identity which makes use of Fomin's growth diagram framework for generalized RSK correspondences.

Abstract:We estimate the number of integer solutions to decomposable form inequalities (both asymptotic estimates and upper bounds are provided) when the degree of the form and the number of variables are relatively prime. These estimates display good behavior in terms of the coefficients of the form, and greatly improve upon previous estimates in this regard.

Abstract:Biases in integer partitions have been studied recently. For three disjoint subsets $R,S,I$ of positive integers, let $p_{RSI}(n)$ be the number of partitions of $n$ with parts from $R\cup S\cup I$ and $p_{R>S,I}(n)$ be the number of such partitions with more parts from $R$ than that from $S$. In this paper, in the case that $R,S,I$ are finite we obtain a concrete formula of the asymptotic ratio of $p_{R>S,I}(n)$ to $p_{RSI}(n)$. We also propose a conjecture in the case that $R,S$ are certain infinite arithmetic progressions.

Abstract:We survey the potential for progress in additive number theory arising from recent advances concerning major arc bounds associated with mean value estimates for smooth Weyl sums. We focus attention on the problem of representing large positive integers as sums of a square and a number of $k$-th powers. We show that such representations exist when the number of $k$-th powers is at least $\lfloor c_0k\rfloor +2$, where $c_0=2.136294\ldots $. By developing an abstract framework capable of handling sequences with appropriate distribution properties, analogous conclusions are obtained, for example, when the square is restricted to have prime argument.

Abstract:Zeckendorf proved that every positive integer has a unique partition as a sum of non-consecutive Fibonacci numbers. We study the difference between the number of summands in the partition of two consecutive integers. In particular, let $L(n)$ be the number of summands in the partition of $n$. We characterize all positive integers such that $L(n) > L(n+1)$, $L(n) < L(n+1)$, and $L(n) = L(n+1)$. Furthermore, we call $n+1$ a peak of $L$ if $L(n) < L(n+1) > L(n+2)$ and a divot of $L$ if $L(n) > L(n+1) < L(n+2)$. We characterize all such peaks and divots of $L$.

Abstract:Using a specific form of the triple product identity, polygonal number identities are stated. Further number identities are examined that can be considered identities related to modular sets of numbers. The identities can be used to give results on integer partitions with parts from numbers in modular arithmetic progression. This includes recursive formulas for the number of partitions using these modular parts. The triple product identity can derive further recursive formulas. Additionally, there is a recursive formula for the related sum of divisors function. The specific triple product identity provides a framework to examine all the identities and can be used to define related theta functions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study partitions of positive integers with restrictions involving squares. We mainly establish the following two results (which were conjectured by Sun in 2013): (i) Each positive integer $n$ can be written as $n=x+y+z$ with $x,y,z$ positive integers such that $x^2+y^2+z^2$ is a square, unless $n$ has the form $n=2^{a}3^{b}$ or $2^{a}7$ with $a$ and $b$ nonnegative integers. (ii) Each integer $n>7$ with $n\not=11,14,17$ can be written as $n=x+y+2z$ with $x,y,z$ positive integers such that $x^2+y^2+2z^2$ is a square.
