Abstract:This paper presents the numerical solution of the heat conduction model with a fractional derivative of the Riemann–Liouville type with respect to the spatial variable. The considered mathematical model assumes the dependence on temperature of the material parameters (such as specific heat, density, and thermal conductivity) of the model. In the paper, the boundary conditions of the first and second types are considered. If the heat flux equal to zero is assumed on the left boundary, then the thermal symmetry is obtained, which results in a simplification of the problem and the possibility of considering only half the area. The numerical examples presented in the paper illustrate the effectiveness and convergence of the discussed computational method.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper attempts to address the problem of a heat conduction model using Riemann–Liouville fractional derivatives in spatial variables, considering the variation of material parameters (such as specific heat, density, and thermal conductivity) with temperature. Specifically, the authors propose a numerical solution to solve this heat conduction model and demonstrate the effectiveness and convergence of the proposed method through numerical examples. In this model, the authors consider two types of boundary conditions: the first type and the second type. If the heat flux on the left boundary is assumed to be zero, thermal symmetry can be obtained, thereby simplifying the problem to consider only half of the spatial region. Numerical examples demonstrate the effectiveness and convergence of the discussed computational method. Additionally, the authors plan to apply this method to the problem of aero-thermal heating reconstruction in spacecraft thermal protection systems.
