Abstract:We present the results of a large-scale survey of neutron(n)-capture elements in Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe), undertaken to study enrichments from s-process nucleosynthesis in their progenitor stars. From new K band observations of over 100 PNe supplemented by data from the literature, we have detected the emission lines [Kr III] 2.199 and/or [Se IV] 2.287 $\mu$m in 81 of 120 objects. We determine Se and Kr elemental abundances, employing ionization correction formulae derived in the first paper of this series. We find a significant range in Se and Kr abundances, from near solar (no enrichment) to enhanced by >1.0 dex relative to solar, which we interpret as self-enrichment due to in situ s-process nucleosynthesis. Kr tends to be more strongly enriched than Se; in 18 objects exhibiting both Se and Kr emission, we find that [Kr/Se] = 0.5$\pm$0.2. Our survey has increased the number of PNe with n-capture element abundance determinations by a factor of ten, enabling us for the first time to search for correlations with other nebular properties. As expected, we find a positive correlation between s-process enrichments and the C/O ratio. Type I and bipolar PNe, which arise from intermediate-mass progenitors (>3-4 solar masses), exhibit little to no s-process enrichments. Finally, PNe with H-deficient Wolf-Rayet central stars do not exhibit systematically larger s-process enrichments than objects with H-rich nuclei. Overall, 44% of the PNe in our sample display significant s-process enrichments (>0.3 dex). Using an empirical PN luminosity function to correct for incompleteness, we estimate that the true fraction of s-process enriched Galactic PNe is at least 20%.
A Large-Scale Survey of Neutron-Capture Element Abundances in Planetary Nebulae

Abstract:We present results from the first large-scale survey of neutron(n)-capture element abundances in planetary nebulae (PNe). This survey was motivated by the fact that a PN may be enriched in n-capture elements if its progenitor star experienced s-process nucleosynthesis during the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) phase. [Kr III] 2.199 and/or [Se IV] 2.287 $\mu$m were detected in 81 PNe out of 120 PNe, for a detection rate of nearly 70%. We derive Se and Kr abundances or upper limits using ionization correction factors derived from photoionization models. A significant range is found in the Se and Kr abundances, from near solar (no enrichment), to enriched by a factor of ten. Our survey has increased the number of PNe with known n-capture element abundances by an order of magnitude, enabling us to explore correlations between s-process enrichments and other nebular and central star properties. In particular, the Se and Kr enrichments display a positive correlation with nebular C/O ratios, as theoretically expected. Peimbert Type I PNe and bipolar PNe, whose progenitors are believed to be intermediate-mass stars (>3-4 M_sun), exhibit little or no s-process enrichment. Interestingly, PNe with H-deficient [WC] central stars do not exhibit systematically larger s-process enrichments than other PNe, despite the fact that their central stars are enriched in C and probably n-capture elements. Finally, the few PNe in our sample with known or probable binary central star systems exhibit little s-process enrichment, which may be explained if binary interactions truncated their AGB phases. We also briefly discuss a new observational program to detect optical emission lines of n-capture elements, and new atomic data calculations that will greatly improve the accuracy of n-capture element abundance determinations in PNe.
Co-spatial Long-slit UV/Optical Spectra of Ten Galactic Planetary Nebulae with HST/STIS II. Nebular Models, Central Star Properties and He+CNO Synthesis

Abstract:The goal of the present study is twofold. First, we employ new HST/STIS spectra and photoionization modeling techniques to determine the progenitor masses of eight planetary nebulae (IC 2165, IC 3568, NGC 2440, NGC 3242, NGC 5315, NGC 5882, NGC 7662 and PB6). Second, for the first time we are able to compare each object's observed nebular abundances of helium, carbon and nitrogen with abundance predictions of these same elements by a stellar model that is consistent with each object's progenitor mass. Important results include the following: 1) the mass range of our objects' central stars matches well with the mass distribution of other PN central stars and white dwarfs; 2) He/H is above solar in all of our objects, in most cases likely due to the predicted effects of first dredge up; 3) most of our objects show negligible C enrichment, probably because their low masses preclude 3rd dredge-up; 4) C/O versus O/H for our objects appears to be inversely correlated, perhaps consistent with the conclusion of theorists that the extent of atmospheric carbon enrichment from first dredge-up is sensitive to a parameter whose value increases as metallicity declines; 5) stellar model predictions of nebular C and N enrichment are consistent with observed abundances for progenitor star masses <=1.5 Msun. Finally, we present the first published photoionization models of NGC 5315 and NGC 5882.

Abundances and Depletions of Neutron-Capture Elements in the Interstellar Medium

Abstract:We present an extensive analysis of the gas-phase abundances and depletion behaviors of neutron-capture elements in the interstellar medium (ISM). Column densities (or upper limits to the column densities) of Ga II, Ge II, As II, Kr I, Cd II, Sn II, and Pb II are determined for a sample of 69 sight lines with high- and/or medium-resolution archival spectra obtained with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph onboard the Hubble Space Telescope. An additional 59 sight lines with column density measurements reported in the literature are included in our analysis. Parameters that characterize the depletion trends of the elements are derived according to the methodology developed by Jenkins (2009; <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0905.3173" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0905.3173">arXiv:0905.3173</a>). (In an appendix, we present similar depletion results for the light element B.) The depletion patterns exhibited by Ga and Ge comport with expectations based on the depletion results obtained for many other elements. Arsenic exhibits much less depletion than expected, and its abundance in low-depletion sight lines may even be supersolar. We confirm a previous finding by Jenkins (2009; <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0905.3173" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0905.3173">arXiv:0905.3173</a>) that the depletion of Kr increases as the overall depletion level increases from one sight line to another. Cadmium shows no such evidence of increasing depletion. We find a significant amount of scatter in the gas-phase abundances of Sn and Pb. For Sn, at least, the scatter may be evidence of real intrinsic abundance variations due to s-process enrichment combined with inefficient mixing in the ISM.

Plasma Diagnostics for Planetary Nebulae and H II Regions Using the N II and O II Optical Recombination Lines

Abstract:We carry out plasma diagnostic analyses for 123 planetary nebulae (PNe) and 42 H II regions using the N II and O II optical recombination lines (ORLs). New effective recombination coefficients for the N II and O II optical recombination spectra are used. These data were calculated under the intermediate coupling scheme for a number of electron temperature (Te) and density (Ne) cases. We used a new method to determine the Te and Ne for the nebular sample, combining the ORLs with the most reliable measurements for each ion and the predicted intensities that are based on the new atomic data. Uncertainties of the derived Te and Ne are estimated for each object. The diagnostic results from heavy element ORLs show reasonable agreement with previous calculations in the literature. We compare the electron temperatures derived from the N II and O II ORLs, Te(ORLs), and those from the collisionally excited lines (CELs), Te(CELs), as well as the hydrogen Balmer jump, Te(H I BJ), especially for the PNe with large abundance discrepancies. Temperatures from He I recombination lines, Te(He I), are also used for comparison if available. For all the objects included in our sample, Te(ORLs) are lower than Te(H I BJ), which are in turn systematically lower than Te(CELs). Nebulae with Te(He I) available show the relation Te(ORLs) < Te(He I) < Te(H I BJ) < Te(CELs), which is consistent with predictions from the bi-abundance nebular model postulated by Liu et al. (2000).

Sulfur, Chlorine, and Argon in Planetary Nebulae. IIA: Observations of a Southern Sample

Abstract:In this paper we present fully reduced and dereddened emission line strengths for a sample of 45 southern Type II planetary nebulae (PNe). The spectrophotometry for these PNe covers an extended optical/near-IR range from 3600 - 9600 Angstroms. This PN study and subsequent analysis (presented in a companion paper), together with a similar treatment for a northern PN sample, is aimed at addressing the lack of homogeneous, consistently observed, reduced, and analyzed data sets that include the near-IR [S III] lines at 9069 and 9532 Angstroms. The use of Type II objects only is intended to select disk nebulae that are uncontaminated by nucleosynthetic products of the progenitor star. Extending spectra redward to include the strong [S III] lines enables us to look for consistency between S++ abundances inferred from these lines and from the more accessible, albeit weaker, [S III] line at 6312 Angstroms.

A Spectroscopic Study of Nuclear Processing and Production of Anomalously Strong Lines in the Crab Nebula

Abstract:We present and discuss correlations for optical and near-infrared (5500-10030 angstroms) line intensity measurements at many positions in the Crab Nebula. These correlations suggest the existence of gas produced by a range of nuclear processing, from material in which synthesis ended with the CNO-cycle, to some helium-burning and nitrogen depletion, to regions containing enriched products of oxygen-burning. The latter exhibit a gradual, linear rise of [Ni II] emission with increasing argon enrichment, whereas gas with less nuclear processing shows markedly different [Ni II] emission characteristics, including the highest derived abundances. This suggests two origins for stable, neutron-rich nickel in the nebula: a type of "alpha-rich freezeout" in the more highly processed material, and possibly removal of ions from the neutron star in other regions. In addition, the data indicate that anomalously strong observed [C I] emission comes from broad, low-ionization zones. Although the strongest He I emission could also be enhanced in similar low-ionization gas, correlations between relevant line ratios argue against that interpretation, strengthening the case for an exceptionally high helium mass fraction in some locations.
Sulfur, Chlorine, & Argon Abundances in Planetary Nebulae. I: Observations and Abundances in a Northern Sample

Abstract:This paper is the first of a series specifically studying the abundances of sulfur, chlorine, and argon in Type II planetary nebulae (PNe) in the Galactic disk. Ratios of S/O, Cl/O, and Ar/O constitute important tests of differential nucleosynthesis of these elements and serve as strict constraints on massive star yield predictions. We present new ground-based optical spectra extending from 3600-9600 Angstroms for a sample of 19 Type II northern PNe. This range includes the strong near infrared lines of [S III] 9069,9532, which allows us to test extensively their effectiveness as sulfur abundance indicators. We also introduce a new, model-tested ionization correction factor for sulfur. For the present sample, we find average values of S/O=1.2E-2(+/- 0.71E-2), Cl/O=3.3E-4(+/- 1.6E-4), and Ar/O=5.0E-3(+/- 1.9E-3).

Abundances of planetary nebulae and evolved stars: Iron and sulfur depletion, and carbon and nitrogen enrichment, in low- and intermediate-mass stellar populations in the Milky Way

Abstract:We explore the elemental abundances in Galactic planetary nebulae (PNe) compared with those of their stellar progenitors (Red Giant Branch and Asymptotic Giant Branch, RGB and AGB, stars), to explore and quantify the expected -- i.e., due to AGB evolution or condensation onto grains -- differences. We gleaned the current literature for the nebular abundances while we used the APOGEE DR~17 survey data for the stellar sample. We examined the elements in common between the nebular and stellar samples, namely, C, N, O, Fe, and S. We confirm that iron in PNe is mostly entrapped in grains, with an average depletion $<$D[Fe/H]$>$=1.741$\pm$0.486 dex, and we disclose a weak correlation between iron depletion and the [O/H] abundance, D[Fe/H]$=(6.6003\pm2.443)\times{\rm [O/H]} +(1.972\pm0.199)$. Sulfur may also be mildly depleted in PNe, with $<$D[S/H]$>=0.179\pm0.291$ dex. We also found an indication of nitrogen enrichment for PNe $<$E[N/H]$>$=0.393$\pm$0.421 dex, with maximum enrichment (0.980$\pm$0.243) occurring for the PNe whose progenitors have gone through the HBB. The carbon enrichment is $<$E[C/H]$>$=0.332$\pm$0.460 dex when measured for the general PN populations. Our results will be relevant for future Galactic and extragalactic studies comparing nebular and stellar samples.

Unveiling Pure-Metal Ejecta X-ray Emission in Supernova Remnants Through Their Radiative Recombination Continuum

Abstract:Context. Spectral analysis of X-ray emission from ejecta in supernova remnants (SNRs) is hampered by the low spectral resolution of CCD detectors, which typically creates a degeneracy between the best-fit values of chemical abundances and the plasma emission measure. The combined contribution of shocked ambient medium and ejecta to the emerging X-ray emission further complicates the determination of the ejecta mass and chemical composition. This degeneracy leads to big uncertainties in mass estimates and can introduce a bias in the comparison between the ejecta chemical composition derived from the observations and the yields predicted by explosive nucleosynthesis models. Aims. We explore the capabilities of present and future spectral instruments with the aim of identifying a spectral feature that may allow us to discriminate between metal-rich and pure-metal plasmas in X-ray spectra of SNRs. Methods. We studied the behavior of the most common X-ray emission processes of an optically thin plasma in the high-abundance regime. We investigated spectral features of bremsstrahlung, radiative recombination continua (RRC), and line emission, by exploring a wide range of chemical abundances, plasma temperatures, and ionization parameters. We then synthesized X-ray spectra from a state-of-the-art 3D hydrodynamic simulation of Cas A, by using the response matrix from the Chandra ACIS-S charged-coupled device detector and that of the XRISM/Resolve X-ray calorimeter spectrometer. Results. We found that a bright RRC shows up when the plasma is made of pure-metal ejecta, and a high spectral resolution is needed to actually identify this ejecta signature. We tested and verified the applicability of our novel diagnostic tool and we propose a promising target for the future detection of such spectral feature: the southeastern Fe-rich clump of Cas A. Conclusions. While there is no way to unambiguously reveal pure-metal ejecta emission with CCD detectors, X-ray calorimeters will be able to pinpoint the presence of pure-metal RRC and to recover correctly absolute mass and the chemical composition of the ejecta, opening a new window on the link between progenitor star, supernova and SNRs.

Abstract:We present MUSE deep integral-field unit spectroscopy of three planetary nebulae(PNe) with high abundance discrepancy factors (ADF > 20): NGC 6778, M 1-42 and Hf 2-2. We have constructed flux maps for more than 40 emission lines, and use them to build extinction, electron temperature (T$_e$), electron density (n$_e$), and ionic abundances maps of a number of ionic species. The effects of the contribution of recombination to the auroral [N II] and [O II] lines on T$_e$ and the abundance maps of low-ionization species are evaluated using recombination diagnostics. As a result, low T$_e$ values and a downward gradient of T$_e$ are found toward the inner zones of each PN. Spatially, this nearly coincides with the increase of abundances of heavy elements measured using recombination lines in the inner regions of PNe, and strongly supports the presence of two distinct gas phases: a cold and metal-rich and a warm one with "normal" metal content. We have simultaneously constructed, for the first time, the ADF maps of O$^+$ and O$^{2+}$ and found that they centrally peak for all three PNe under study. We show that the main issue when trying to compute realistic abundances from either ORLs or CELs is to estimate the relative contribution of each gas component to the H I emission, and we present a method to evaluate it. It is also found that, for the studied high-ADF PNe, the amount of oxygen in the cold and warm regions is of the same order.

Sulfur, Chlorine, and Argon Abundances in Planetary Nebulae. III: Observations and Results for a Final Sample

Abstract:This paper is the fourth in a series whose purpose is to study the interstellar abundances of sulfur, chlorine, and argon in the Galaxy using a sample of 86 planetary nebulae. Here we present new high-quality spectrophotometric observations of 20 Galactic planetary nebulae with spectral coverage from 3700-9600 Angstroms. A major feature of our observations throughout the entire study has been the inclusion of the near-infrared lines of [S III] 9069,9532, which allows us to calculate accurate S+2 abundances and to either improve upon or convincingly confirm results of earlier sulfur abundance studies. For each of the 20 objects here we calculate ratios of S/O, Cl/O, and Ar/O and find average values of S/O=1.1E-2+/-1.1E-2, Cl/O=4.2E-4+/-5.3E-4, and Ar/O=5.7E-3+/-4.3E-3. For six objects we are able to compare abundances of S+3 calculated directly from available [S IV] 10.5 micron measurements with those inferred indirectly from the values of the ionization correction factors for sulfur. In the final paper of the series, we will compile results from all 86 objects, search for and evaluate trends, and use chemical evolution models to interpret our results.

Abstract:A project which aims to understand the abundance patterns of He, C, N, O, Ne, S, and Ar for a small sample of planetary nebulae is described. Abundance ratios of O/H, C/O, and N/O especially show a broad range relative to their solar values, and AGB stellar evolution models used to interpret the patterns indicate that reasonable ranges in progenitor mass and metallicity are adequate to explain the observed abundance spread. Chemical yields of intermediate-mass stars inferred from these same models are used to calculate chemical evolution models of the solar neighborhood. These models indicate that intermediate-mass stars account for roughly half of the C-12 and nearly all of the N-14 in that region.

Abstract:Infrared emission lines arising from transitions between fine structure levels of heavy elements are expected to produce kilonova nebular emission. For the kilonova in GW170817, strong emission at 4.5 ${\rm \mu m}$ at late times was detected by the Spitzer Space Telescope but no source was detected at 3.6 ${\rm \mu m}$. This peculiar spectrum indicates that there exist strong line emitters around 4.5 ${\rm \mu m}$ and the absence of strong lines around 3.6 ${\rm \mu m}$. To model the spectrum we prepare a line list based on the selection rules in LS coupling from the experimentally calibrated energy levels in the NIST database. This method enables to generate the synthetic spectra with accurate line wavelengths. We find that the spectrum is sensitive to the abundance pattern whether or not the first r-process peak elements are included. In both cases, the synthetic spectra can match the observed data, leading to two possible interpretations. If the first peak elements are abundant a Se III line dominates the flux. If otherwise, W III with Os III, Rh III, and Ce IV can be the main sources. Observing nebular spectra for the future kilonovae in a wider wavelength range can provide more conclusive elemental identification.
Is the Sulphur Anomaly in Planetary Nebulae Caused by the s-Process?

Abstract:Motivated by unexplained observations of low sulphur abundances in planetary nebulae (PNe) and the PG1159 class of post asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars, we investigate the possibility that sulphur may be destroyed by nucleosynthetic processes in low-to-intermediate mass stars during stellar evolution. We use a 3 Msun, Z=0.01 evolutionary sequence to examine the consequences of high and low reaction rate estimates of neutron captures onto sulphur and neighbouring elements. In addition, we have tested high and low rates for the neutron producing reactions C13(alpha,n)O16 and Ne22(alpha,n)Mg25. We vary the mass width of a partially mixed zone (PMZ), which is responsible for the formation of a C13 pocket and is the site of the C13(alpha,n)O16 neutron source. We test PMZ masses from zero up to an extreme upper limit of the entire He-intershell mass at 10^-2 Msun. We find that the alternative reaction rates and variations to the partially mixed zone have almost no effect on surface sulphur abundances and do not reproduce the anomaly. To understand the effect of initial mass on our conclusions, 1.8 Msun and 6 Msun evolutionary sequences are also tested with similar results for sulphur abundances. We are able to set a constraint on the size of the PMZ, as PMZ sizes that are greater than half of the He-intershell mass (in the 3 Msun model) are excluded by comparison with neon abundances in planetary nebulae. We compare the 1.8 Msun model's intershell abundances with observations of PG1159-035, whose surface abundances are thought to reflect the intershell composition of a progenitor AGB star. We find general agreement between the patterns of F, Ne, Si, P, and Fe abundances and a very large discrepancy for sulphur where our model predicts abundances that are 30-40 times higher than is observed in the star.

On determining the chemical composition of planetary nebulae

Abstract:We present literature on abundance determinations in planetary nebulae (PN) as well as public tools that can be used to derive them. Concerning direct methods to derive abundances we discuss in some depth such issues as reddening correction, use of proper densities and temperatures to compute the abundances, correction for unseen ionic stages, effect of stellar absorption on nebular spectra, and error analysis. Concerning photoionization model-fitting, we discuss the necessary ingredients of model stellar atmospheres, the problem of incomplete slit covering and the determination of the goodness of fit. A note on the use of IFU observations is given. The still unsolved problem of temperature fluctuations is briefly presented, with references to more detailed papers. The problem of abundance discrepancies is touched upon with reference to more extensive discussions in the present volume. Finally carbon footprint issues are mentioned in the context of extensive PN modeling and large databases.

Abstract:Deep long‐slit optical spectrophotometric observations are presented for 25 Galactic bulge planetary nebulae (GBPNe) and six Galactic disc planetary nebulae (GDPNe). The spectra, combined with archival ultraviolet (UV) spectra obtained with the International Ultraviolet Explorer and infrared spectra obtained with the Infrared Space Observatory, have been used to carry out a detailed plasma diagnostic and element abundance analysis utilizing both collisional excited lines (CELs) and optical recombination lines (ORLs). Comparisons of plasma diagnostic and abundance analysis results obtained from CELs and ORLs reproduce many of the patterns previously found for GDPNe. In particular we show that the large discrepancies between electron temperatures (Te values) derived from CELs and ORLs appear to be mainly caused by abnormally low values yielded by recombination lines and/or continua. Similarly, the large discrepancies between heavy element abundances deduced from ORLs and CELs are largely caused by abnormally high values obtained from ORLs, up to tens of solar in extreme cases. It appears that whatever mechanisms are causing the ubiquitous dichotomy between CELs and ORLs, their main effects are to enhance the emission of ORLs, but hardly affect that of CELs. It seems that heavy element abundances deduced from ORLs may not reflect the bulk composition of the nebula. Rather, our analysis suggests that ORLs of heavy element ions mainly originate from a previously unseen component of plasma of Te values of just a few hundred kelvins, which is too cool to excite any optical and UV CELs. We find that GBPNe are on the average 0.1–0.2 dex more metal‐rich than GDPNe but have a mean C/O ratio that is approximately 0.2 dex lower. By comparing the observed relative abundances of heavy elements with recent theoretical predictions, we show that GBPNe probably evolved from a relatively metal‐rich environment of initial Z∼ 0.013, compared to an initial Z≲ 0.008 for GDPNe. In addition, we find that GBPNe tend to have more massive progenitor stars than GDPNe. GBPNe are found to have an average magnesium abundance about 0.13 dex higher than GDPNe. The latter have a mean magnesium abundance almost identical to the solar value. The enhancement of magnesium in GBPNe and the large [α/Fe] ratios of bulge giants suggest that the primary enrichment process in the bulge was Type II supernovae. PN observations yield a Ne/O abundance ratio much higher than the solar value, suggesting that the solar neon abundance may have been underestimated by 0.2 dex.

Abstract:We review gas-phase abundances in PNe and describe their dual utility as archives of original progenitor metallicity via the alpha elements, as well as sources of processed material from nucleosynthesis during the star's evolution, i.e., C, N, and s-process elements. We describe the analysis of PN spectra to derive abundances and discuss the discrepancies that arise from different choices at each step. Abundance results for the Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds from various groups of investigators are presented; the observational results are compared with theoretical predictions of AGB stellar yields. Finally, we suggest areas where more work is needed to improve our abilities to determine abundances in PNe.

Abstract:We have undertaken a large spectroscopic survey of over 80 planetary nebulae with the goal of providing a homogeneous spectroscopic database between 3600-9600 Angstroms, as well as a set of consistently determined abundances, especially for oxygen, sulfur, chlorine, and argon. In the current paper we calculate and report the S/O, Cl/O, and Ar/O abundance ratios for 45 southern planetary nebulae (predominantly Type II), using our own recently observed line strengths published in an earlier paper. One of the salient features of our work is the use of the NIR lines of [S III] 9069,9532 coupled with the [S III] temperature, to determine the S++ ionic abundance. We find the following average abundances for these objects: S/O=0.011(+/-0.0064), Cl/O=0.00031(+/-0.00012), and Ar/O=0.0051(+/-0.0020).

Abstract:We use a large grid of photoionization models that are representative of observed planetary nebulae (PNe) to derive ionization correction factors (ICFs) for sodium, potassium, and calcium. In addition to the analytical expressions of the ICFs, we provide the range of validity where the ICFs can be safely used and an estimate of the typical uncertainties associated with the ICFs. We improved the previous ICFs for calcium and potassium in the literature and suggest for the first time an ICF for sodium. We tested our ICFs with a sample of 39 PNe with emission lines of some ion of these elements. No obvious trend is found between the derived abundances and the degree of ionization, suggesting that our ICFs do not seem to be introducing an artificial bias in the results. The abundances found in the studied PNe range from -2.88$^{+0.21}_{-0.22}$ to -2.09$\pm$0.21 in log(Na/O), from -4.20$^{+0.31}_{-0.45}$ to -3.05$^{+0.26}_{-0.47}$ in log(K/O), and from -3.71$^{+0.41}_{-0.34}$ to -1.57$^{+0.33}_{-0.47}$ in log(Ca/O). These numbers imply that some of the studied PNe have up to 65, 75, or 95 per cent of their Na, K, and/or Ca atoms condensed into dust grains, respectively. As expected, the highest depletions are found for calcium which is the element with the highest condensation temperature.
