Abstract:Many studies suggest that tumor microbiome closely relates to the oncogenesis and anti-tumor responses in multiple cancer types (e.g., colorectal cancer (CRC), breast cancer, lung cancer and pancreatic cancer), thereby rising an emerging research aera of bacterial-related tumor therapy. Nanomaterials have long been used for both cancer and bacterial infection treatment, holding great potentials for bacterial-related tumor therapy. In this review, we summarized recent progress in nanomaterials for bacterial-related tumor therapy. We will focus on the types and mechanisms of pathogenic bacterial in the development and promotion of cancers and emphasize how nanomaterials work. We also want to briefly discuss the design principles and challenges of nanomaterials for bacterial-related tumor therapy. We hope this review can provide some insights for this emerging and rapidly growing research aera.
