Abstract:We study theoretically the quantum dynamics of two interacting electrons in the symmetric double-dot structure under the influence of the bichromatic resonant pulse. The state vector evolution is studied for two different pulse designs. It is shown that the laser pulse can generate the effective exchange coupling between the electron spins localized in different dots. Possible applications of this effect to the quantum information processing (entanglement generation, quantum state engineering) are discussed.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: How to use the two interacting electrons in an optically - driven double - dot structure to achieve quantum - state manipulation, especially to generate entangled states and conduct quantum - state engineering. Specifically, the author studied the quantum dynamics of two interacting electrons in a symmetric double - dot structure under the influence of two - color resonant pulses. By designing different pulse schemes, the author demonstrated that laser pulses can generate effective exchange couplings between electron spins located in different quantum dots. This coupling has potential application value for quantum information processing (such as entangled - state generation and quantum - state engineering). ### Analysis of the Main Problem 1. **Background and Motivation** - In recent years, low - dimensional semiconductor structures (such as quantum dots) have received extensive attention due to their precise manufacturing techniques on the nanoscale. - The fields of quantum computing and quantum information processing are developing rapidly, and it is necessary to find suitable physical systems to realize the operation of qubits. - The electron spins in the double - quantum - dot structure have been proposed as candidates for solid - state qubits, but effective control means are required to achieve quantum - state manipulation. 2. **Research Objectives** - Explore a new scheme to use coherent electromagnetic pulses to manipulate the quantum states of two interacting electrons in a double - quantum - dot structure. - By designing appropriate external driving fields, achieve reliable control of quantum states, especially in terms of generating entangled states. 3. **Specific Methods** - Use two - color resonant pulses to induce electron transitions in the double - quantum - dot structure. - Study two different pulse design schemes and analyze their influence on the evolution of quantum states. - By solving the time - dependent Schrödinger equation, obtain the evolution law of the state vector and explore the specific conditions for realizing entangled states. 4. **Expected Results** - Demonstrate that laser pulses can generate effective exchange couplings, thereby achieving the entanglement of electron spins. - Propose a quantum - state - engineering scheme based on optical means, which can generate highly entangled quantum states in the double - quantum - dot structure. - Discuss the potential applications of this scheme in quantum information processing, such as quantum computing and quantum communication. ### Formula Summary The main formulas involved in the paper include: - Pulse - driven Hamiltonian: \[ H = H_0+[V_1\cos(\omega_1t + \phi_1)+V_2\cos(\omega_2t + \phi_2)][\theta(t)-\theta(t - T)] \] where \( V_k=-eE_k(r_1 + r_2) \), \( E_k, \omega_k, \phi_k \) are the amplitude, frequency, and phase of the \( k \) - th pulse respectively, \( e \) is the electron charge, \( \theta(t) \) is the step function, and \( T \) is the pulse duration. - State - vector representation: \[ |\Psi(t)\rangle=\sum_{n = 1}^{16}c_n(t)\exp(-iE_nt)|n\rangle \] - Time - dependent Schrödinger equation: \[ i\frac{\partial|\Psi(t)\rangle}{\partial t}=H|\Psi(t)\rangle \] - Pulse - parameter relationships: \[ \omega_1=\varepsilon^-_{01}-\varepsilon_{00}+\Delta_1,\quad\omega_2=\varepsilon^-_{s11}-\varepsilon^-_{01}+\Delta_2 \] - Matrix - element conditions: \[ \left|\lambda_2\right|=\sqrt{\frac{1}{2}(4m^2/k^2 - 1)}\left|\lambda_1\right| \] Through these formulas, the author described in detail how to select pulse parameters to achieve specific quantum states.
