Abstract:The Casimir energy is evaluated for massless scalar fields under Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions, and for the electromagnetic field with perfect conductor boundary conditions on one and two infinite parallel plates moving by uniform proper acceleration through the Fulling--Rindler vacuum in an arbitrary number of spacetime dimension. For the geometry of a single plate the both regions of the right Rindler wedge, (i) on the right (RR region) and (ii) on the left (RL region) of the plate are considered. The zeta function technique is used, in combination with contour integral representations. The Casimir energies for separate RR and RL regions contain pole and finite contributions. For an infinitely thin plate taking RR and RL regions together, in odd spatial dimensions the pole parts cancel and the Casimir energy for the whole Rindler wedge is finite. In $d=3$ spatial dimensions the total Casimir energy for a single plate is negative for Dirichlet scalar and positive for Neumann scalar and the electromagnetic field. The total Casimir energy for two plates geometry is presented in the form of a sum of the Casimir energies for separate plates plus an additional interference term. The latter is negative for all values of the plates separation for both Dirichlet and Neumann scalars, and for the electromagnetic field.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The main problem that this paper attempts to solve is to calculate the Casimir energy in the Fulling - Rindler vacuum. Specifically, the author studied the Casimir energy of massless scalar fields (satisfying Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions) and electromagnetic fields (satisfying perfect conductor boundary conditions) between infinitely parallel plates in uniform accelerated motion in arbitrary spacetime dimensions. The paper pays special attention to the following points: 1. **The case of a single plate**: - Calculated the Casimir energy of a single infinite thin plate in the right - hand (RR) region and the left - hand (RL) region of the Rindler wedge region. - Obtained the poles and finite contributions in these regions by using the ζ - function technique combined with the contour integral representation method. 2. **The case of two parallel plates**: - For two infinitely parallel plates, expressed the total Casimir energy as the sum of the Casimir energy of each individual plate plus an additional interference term. - Studied the Casimir force at different plate spacings and pointed out that for Dirichlet and Neumann scalars and electromagnetic fields, the interference term is always negative. 3. **Results in odd - dimensional spaces**: - In odd - dimensional spaces, the pole parts in the RR and RL regions cancel each other out, making the total Casimir energy finite. - In particular, in 3 - dimensional space, the total Casimir energy of a single plate is negative for the Dirichlet scalar, and positive for the Neumann scalar and the electromagnetic field. 4. **Numerical results and discussion**: - Provided numerical results in 2, 3, and 4 - dimensional spaces and discussed the significance of these results for the measurement of uniformly accelerated observers. - Emphasized the importance of the zeta - function regularization method in dealing with divergence problems and explained the physical meaning of the remaining pole terms. ### Formula summary - Casimir energy of a single Dirichlet plate in the RR region: \[ E^{(R)}_{1D}(\xi_1) = B_d \frac{Z^{DK}_{-1}}{\xi_1^{d - 1}(s + 1)}+ B_d \frac{1}{\xi_1^{d - 1}}\left[Z^{DK}_0 + Z^{(1)}_{DK}(- 1)\right] \] - Casimir energy of a single Dirichlet plate in the RL region: \[ E^{(L)}_{1D}(\xi_1) = B_d \frac{Z^{DI}_{-1}}{\xi_1^{d - 1}(s + 1)}+ B_d \frac{1}{\xi_1^{d - 1}}\left[Z^{DI}_0 + Z^{(1)}_{DI}(- 1)\right] \] - Total Casimir energy: \[ E_{1D}(\xi_1) = E^{(R)}_{1D}(\xi_1)+ E^{(L)}_{1D}(\xi_1) \] - Total Casimir energy in odd - dimensional spaces (taking 3 - dimensional space as an example): \[ E_{1Dg}=- 0.00131\frac{g}{\xi_1^2} \] Through these calculations, the author revealed the characteristics of the Casimir effect in non - inertial reference frames and provided a new perspective for understanding the behavior of quantum field theory in accelerating systems.
