Abstract:By extending the Berry--Robnik approach for the nearly integrable quantum systems,\cite{[1]} we propose one possible scenario of the energy level spacing distribution that deviates from the Berry--Robnik distribution. The result described in this paper implies that deviations from the Berry--Robnik distribution would arise when energy level components show strong accumulation, and otherwise, the level spacing distribution agrees with the Berry--Robnik distribution.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: when the energy - level components of a nearly integrable quantum system show strong accumulation, the phenomenon that the energy - level spacing distribution deviates from the Berry - Robnik distribution. Specifically, the author attempts to explain why in some cases, the energy - level spacing distribution does not conform to the traditional Berry - Robnik distribution, and proposes a possible mechanism to describe this deviation. ### Main problems: 1. **Limitations of the traditional Berry - Robnik distribution**: The Berry - Robnik distribution assumes that the energy - level spectrum is composed of the superposition of independent sub - spectra and is applicable to nearly integrable systems. However, when the energy - level components show strong accumulation in the regular regions of the phase space, the actual energy - level spacing distribution may deviate from this theoretical prediction. 2. **The influence of energy - level accumulation**: The author studies the change in the energy - level spacing distribution when the energy - level components show strong accumulation in the regular regions of the phase space. This accumulation may cause the energy - level spacing distribution to become non - smooth, thus deviating from the Berry - Robnik distribution. ### Solutions: By extending the Berry - Robnik theory, the author proposes a new hypothetical framework that takes into account the influence of an infinite number of infinitesimal structures in the regular regions. They introduce two hypotheses: - **Hypothesis 1**: The statistical weight of the regular regions uniformly approaches zero in the limit case (that is, the Liouville measure of each regular region tends to zero). \[ \max_i \rho_i \to 0 \quad \text{as} \quad N_1 \to +\infty \] - **Hypothesis 2**: The weighted average of the cumulative distribution functions of the energy spacings converges in the limit case. \[ \lim_{N_1 \to +\infty} \mu(\rho; N_1) = \bar{\mu}(\rho) \] Based on these hypotheses, the author derives a new formula for the energy - level spacing distribution, which can describe the deviation of the energy - level spacing distribution in the limit case. This new formula, expressed in terms of the cumulative distribution function, is: \[ M_{\bar{\mu}}(S; N_2) = 1 + \frac{d}{dS} \left[ \exp \left( -\rho_0 \int_0^S [1 - \bar{\mu}(\sigma)] d\sigma \right) \prod_{j = 1}^{N_2} E_{RMT}^j(S; \rho'_j) \right] \] ### Conclusions: According to the above formula, the energy - level spacing distribution can be divided into three categories: 1. **Case 1**: When \(\bar{\mu}(+\infty) = 0\), the energy - level spacing distribution conforms to the Berry - Robnik distribution. 2. **Case 2**: When \(0 < \bar{\mu}(+\infty) < 1\), for larger energy - level spacings \(S\), the energy - level spacing distribution is close to the Berry - Robnik distribution, but may deviate for smaller \(S\). 3. **Case 3**: When \(\bar{\mu}(+\infty) = 1\), the energy - level spacing distribution is given by the superposition of spectral components that obey sub - Poisson statistics and random matrix theory, and completely deviates from the Berry - Robnik distribution. In summary, this paper reveals the possibility that the energy - level spacing distribution of a nearly integrable quantum system deviates from the Berry - Robnik distribution when the energy - level components show strong accumulation in the regular regions, and provides a new theoretical framework to describe this phenomenon.
