Abstract:The transition between isobaric analog states (IAS) in the (3He, t) charge exchange reaction presents a unique opportunity to access the isospin structure of the nuclei. In this study not only the Fermi transition but also the Gamow-Teller (G-T) transition of the IAS reaction were investigated for the 13,14C(3He, t) and 17,18,19,20O(3He, t) reactions, in order to explore the neutron number dependence of the IAS reaction for the light neutron-rich nuclei. It was found that the G-T type IAS reaction also exhibited a significant dependence of the transition strength on the neutron number and the angular momentum configuration of the nuclei. Additionally, the inverse kinematics was also discussed for extracting the yields of the interested reaction channels in the proposed experiments on radioactive beams. The calculated triton yields demonstrated the capability of the proposed experiments to obtain meaningful results.

On bipartite and tripartite entanglement at present and future particle colliders

Abstract:Entanglement, rooted in the non-deterministic, non-local nature of quantum mechanics, serves as a fundamental correlation. High-energy particle colliders offer a unique platform for exploring entanglement in the relativistic regime. The recent observation of entanglement in $t\bar{t}$ production by ATLAS has sparked significant interest in investigating entanglement phenomena at colliders. While bipartite entanglement receives extensive attention, tripartite entanglement remains relatively uncharted. We investigate tripartite entanglement in $t\bar{t}Z$ production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) within the Standard Model and with a dimension-$8$ effective operator. Additionally, we explore bipartite entanglement in $t\bar{t}$, $tW^-$, and di-boson production processes, namely $W^+W^-$, $ZZ$, and $W^+Z$, at the LHC and future $e^+e^-$ collider. We numerically compute various measures of entanglement through Monte Carlo events based on the spin density matrix, with its elements (polarization and spin correlation) obtained by analyzing the angular distribution of the final decayed leptons.

Exploring high-purity multi-parton scattering at hadron colliders

Abstract:Multi-parton interactions are a fascinating phenomenon that occur in almost every high-energy hadron--hadron collision, yet are remarkably difficult to study quantitatively. In this letter we present a strategy to optimally disentangle multi-parton interactions from the primary scattering in a collision. That strategy enables probes of multi-parton interactions that are significantly beyond the state of the art, including their characteristic momentum scale, the interconnection between primary and secondary scatters, and the pattern of three and potentially even more simultaneous hard scatterings. This opens a path to powerful new constraints on multi-parton interactions for LHC phenomenology and to the investigation of their rich field-theoretical structure.

Partial-wave projection of the one-particle exchange in three-body scattering amplitudes

Abstract:As the study of three-hadron physics from lattice QCD matures, it is necessary to develop proper analysis tools in order to reliably study a variety of phenomena, including resonance spectroscopy and nuclear structure. Reconstructing the three-particle scattering amplitude requires solving integral equations, which can be written in terms of data-constrained dynamical functions and physical on shell quantities. The driving term in these equations is the so-called one-particle exchange, which leads to a kinematic divergence for particles on mass shell. A vital component in defining three-particle amplitudes with definite parity and total angular momentum, which are used in spectroscopic studies, is to project the one-particle exchange into definite partial waves. We present a general procedure to construct exact analytic partial-wave projections of the one-particle exchange contribution for any system composed of three spinless hadrons. Abstract:In high energy collisions saturation and multiple collisions are most easily accounted for in transverse coordinate space, while analyses in momentum space have been more suitable for calculating properties of exclusive final states. In this talk I describe an extension of Mueller's dipole cascade model, which attempts to combine the good features of both these descriptions. Besides saturation it also includes effects of correlations and fluctuations, which have been difficult to account for in previous approaches. The model reproduces successfully total, elastic, and diffractive cross sections in pp collisions and DIS, and a description of final states will be ready soon.

Exotic tetraquarks at the HL-LHC with JETHAD: A high-energy viewpoint

Abstract:We review the semi-inclusive hadroproduction of a neutral hidden-flavor tetraquark with light and heavy quark flavor at the HL-LHC, accompanied by another heavy hadron or a light-flavored jet. We make use of the novel TQHL1.0 determinations of leading-twist fragmentation functions to describe the formation mechanism of a tetraquark state within the next-to-leading order perturbative QCD. This framework builds on the basis of a spin-physics inspired model, taken as a proxy for the lowest-scale input of the constituent heavy-quark fragmentation channel. Then, all parton-to-tetraquark fragmentation functions are consistently obtained via the above-threshold DGLAP evolution in a variable-flavor number scheme. We provide predictions for a series of differential distributions calculated by the hands of the JETHAD method well-adapted to NLL/NLO+ hybrid-factorization studies, where the resummation of next-to-leading energy logarithms and beyond is included in the collinear picture. We provide corroborating evidence that high-energy observables sensitive to semi-inclusive tetraquark emissions at the HL-LHC exhibit a fair stability under radiative corrections as well as MHOU studies. Our analysis constitutes a prime contact point between QCD resummations and the exotic matter.

Abstract:We review the current status of analyses of multijet final states in e+e- annihilation. Results for jet observables from LEP 1, LEP 2 and from the reanalysis of the PETRA experiment JADE will be presented. A determination of the b-quark mass using jet observables will be discussed and tests of power correction models will be shown. Finally determinations of the QCD colour factors from an analysis of event shape distributions at several energy points using power corrections will be discussed.

Abstract:These notes are a fuller version of four lectures given at the 2015 International Summer Workshop in Reaction Theory held at Indiana University, Bloomington. The aim is to provide a simple introduction to how the tools of "the S-matrix era" - i.e. the constraints of unitarity, analyticity and crossing symmetry - can be incorporated into analyses of final state interactions in two- and three-hadron systems. The main focus is on corrections to the isobar model in three-hadron final states, which may be relevant once more as much larger data sets become available.

New reaction approach to reflect exotic structure of hadronic molecular state

Abstract:With the accumulation of experimental data, more and more exotic hadrons are observed. Among the interpretations of these exotic hadrons, molecular state and compact multiquark are two of the most popular pictures. However, it is still difficult to determine the structure of an exotic hadron. In this work, we propose a possible way to detect the internal structure of an exotic state. When a molecular state composed of two consistent hadrons is attacked by another particle, one of the constituents should be kicked out while another quasifree constituent stays almost unaffected. It is different from a compact multiquark which has no obvious subcluster. In this work, taking the $X(3872)$ as an example, we perform a Dalitz plot analysis of such reaction to find the effect of the different internal structures. Under the assumption of the $X(3872)$ as a molecular state or a compact tetraquark state, with the help of the effective Lagrangians, the Dalitz plot and the invariant mass spectrum are estimated with different total invariant mass of three final particles, and the effect of different binding energies is also discussed. Obvious event concentration can be observed as strips in the Dalitz plot and sharp peaks in the invariant mass spectrum for the $X(3872)$ with a small binding energy under the molecular state picture, while such concentration cannot be observed under the compact tetraquark picture. Such phenomenon can be applied to identify the internal structure of a new hadron state.

Abstract:We consider exclusive multi-peripheral production of four charged pions in proton-proton collisions at high energies with simultaneous exchange of three pomerons/reggeons. The amplitude(s) for the genuine $2 \to 6$ process are written in the Regge approach. The calculation is performed with the help of the GenEx Monte Carlo code. Some corrections at low invariant masses in the two-body subsystems are necessary for application of the Regge formalism. We estimate the corresponding cross section and present differential distributions in rapidity, transverse momenta and two- and four-pion invariant masses. The cross section and the distributions depend on the value of the cut-off parameter of a form factor correcting amplitudes for off-shellness of $t$-channel pions. Rather large cross section is found for the whole phase space ($\sigma \sim$ 1-5 $\mu$b, including absorption corrections). Relatively large four-pion invariant masses are populated in the considered diffractive mechanism compared to other mechanisms discussed so far in the context of four-pion production. We investigate whether the triple Regge exchange processes could be identified with the existing LHC detectors. We consider the case of ATLAS and ALICE cuts. The ATLAS (or CMS) has better chances to identify the process in the region of large invariant masses $M_{4 \pi} > 10$ GeV. In the case of the ALICE experiment the considered mechanism competes with other mechanisms (production of $\sigma \sigma$, $\rho \rho$ pairs or single resonances) and cannot be unambiguously identified.

Studies of $T_{cc}^+$ Decays and Transverse-Momentum-Dependent $J/ψ$ Production Using Effective Field Theory

Abstract:We describe the application of effective field theories for quantum chromodynamics (QCD) to two bound states involving heavy quarks: the $T_{cc}^+$ exotic meson and the $J/\psi$. We study the decay of the $T_{cc}^+$ in an effective theory for hadronic molecules, and find agreement with experiment. We also use the nonrelativistic QCD (NRQCD) factorization formalism to derive the leading-order transverse momentum dependent fragmentation functions (FFs) for quarks and gluons fragmenting to $J/\psi$. We then make use of these TMD FFs to compare the $J/\psi$ production mechanisms of light quark fragmentation and photon-gluon fusion, where the conclusions we draw can motivate future experiments at the Electron Ion Collider, shedding light on the inner structure of nucleons and testing ideas from NRQCD factorization. These results showcase the utility of effective field theories in explaining experiments and testing key concepts in nuclear/particle physics.

Abstract:Interests on few-body hypernuclei have been increased by recent results of experiments employing relativistic heavy ion beams. Some of the experiments have revealed that the lifetime of the lightest hypernucleus, hypertriton, is significantly shorter than 263 ps which is expected by considering the hypertriton to be a weakly-bound system. The STAR collaboration has also measured the hypertriton binding energy, and the deduced value is contradicting to its formerly known small binding energy. These measurements have indicated that the fundamental physics quantities of the hypertriton such as its lifetime and binding energy have not been understood, therefore, they have to be measured very precisely. Furthermore, an unprecedented Λnn bound state observed by the HypHI collaboration has to be studied in order to draw a conclusion whether or not such a bound state exists. These three-body hypernuclear states are studied by the heavy-ion beam data in the WASA-FRS experiment and by analysing J-PARC E07 nuclear emulsion data with machine learning.
Compound and quasi-compound states in low-energy scattering of nucleons from 12C

Abstract:A multi-channel algebraic scattering theory has been used to study the properties of nucleon scattering from 12C and of the sub-threshold compound nuclear states, accounting for properties in the compound nuclei to ~10 MeV. All compound and quasi-compound resonances observed in total cross-section data are matched, and on seeking solutions of the method at negative energies, all sub-threshold states in 13C and 13N are predicted with the correct spin-parities and with reasonable values for their energies. A collective-model prescription has been used to define the initiating nucleon-12C interactions and via use of orthogonalizing pseudo-potentials, account is made of the Pauli principle. Information is extracted on the underlying structure of each state in the compound systems by investigating the zero-deformation limit of the results.
The $p_T$-Spectra of Some Non-pion Secondaries in High Energy NN to NA/AA Collisions and the Combinational Approach

Abstract:In continuation of our perusal of the studies on transverse momentum spectra for the main varieties of secondaries from a consistent and comprehensive phenomenological approach, we propose to take up here -- after a successful completion of reporting in detail the results (Ref.[4] in the text) on our analyses of the $p_T$-spectra of pions -- the studies specially on production of kaons, protons and antiprotons in several proton-induced and nucleus-involved collisions at high energies. The measured data on inclusive cross sections of kaons, protons and antiprotons from the various published sources have here been assorted first. Next, data on the $p_T$-spectra of the specific secondaries produced in PP and $P\bar{P}$ reactions have been scanned and analyzed with the help of Hagedorn's model(HM). Thereafter a connector, named here the combinational approach(CA), has been constructed and used to analyze the data on $p_T$-spectra of some major category of non-pion secondaries produced in nucleus-nucleus(AA/AB) collisions at high energies. And these exercises have, finally, led to the modestly successful interpretations of a wide band of data with the revelation of some insightful physical aspects of high energy interactions. The limitations of the approach have also been precisely pointed out in the end.

Three ways to decipher the nature of exotic hadrons: multiplets, three-body hadronic molecules, and correlation functions

Abstract:In the past two decades, a plethora of hadronic states beyond the conventional quark model of $q\bar{q}$ mesons and $qqq$ baryons have been observed experimentally, which motivated extensive studies to understand their nature and the non-perturbative strong interaction. Since most of these exotic states are near the mass thresholds of a pair of conventional hadrons, the prevailing picture is that they are primarily hadronic molecules. In principle, one can verify the molecular nature of these states by thoroughly comparing their masses, decay widths, and production rates in a particular picture with experimental data. However, this is difficult or impossible. First, quantum mechanics allows for the mixing of configurations allowed by symmetries and quantum numbers. Second, data are relatively scarce because of their small production rates and the many difficulties in the experimental measurements. As a result, other alternatives need to be explored. This review summarizes three such approaches that can help disentangle the nature of the many exotic hadrons discovered. In the first approach, based on the molecular interpretations for some exotic states, we study the likely existence of multiplets of hadronic molecules related by various symmetries, such as isospin symmetry, SU(3)-flavor symmetry, heavy quark spin/flavor symmetry, and heavy antiquark diquark symmetry. In the second approach, starting from some hadronic molecular candidates, one can derive the underlying hadron-hadron interactions. With these interactions, one can study related three-body systems and check whether three-body bound states/resonances exist. In the third approach, one can turn to the femtoscopy technique to derive the hadron-hadron interactions, hence inaccessible. This technique provided an unprecedented opportunity to understand the interactions between unstable hadrons.

Revisiting the nature of the Pc pentaquarks

Abstract:A bstract The nature of the three narrow hidden-charm pentaquark P c states, i.e., P c (4312), P c (4440) and P c (4457), is under intense discussion since their discovery from the updated analysis of the process $$ {\Lambda}_b^0\to J/\psi {pK}^{-} $$ Λ b 0 → J / ψ pK − by LHCb. In this work we extend our previous coupled-channel approach [Phys. Rev. Lett. 124 , 072001 (2020)], in which the P c states are treated as $$ {\Sigma}_c^{\left(\ast \right)}{\overline{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)} $$ Σ c ∗ D ̄ ∗ molecules, by including the $$ {\Lambda}_c{\overline{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)} $$ Λ c D ̄ ∗ and η c p as explicit inelastic channels in addition to the J/ψp , as required by unitarity and heavy quark spin symmetry (HQSS), respectively. Since inelastic parameters are very badly constrained by the current data, three calculation schemes are considered: (a) scheme I with pure contact interactions between the elastic, i.e., $$ {\Sigma}_c^{\left(\ast \right)}{\overline{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)} $$ Σ c ∗ D ̄ ∗ , and inelastic channels and without the $$ {\Lambda}_c{\overline{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)} $$ Λ c D ̄ ∗ interactions, (b) scheme II, where the one-pion exchange (OPE) is added to scheme I, and (c) scheme III, where the $$ {\Lambda}_c{\overline{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)} $$ Λ c D ̄ ∗ interactions are included in addition. It is shown that to obtain cutoff independent results, OPE in the multichannel system is to be supplemented with S -wave-to- D -wave mixing contact terms. As a result, in line with our previous analysis, we demonstrate that the experimental data for the J/ψp invariant mass distribution are consistent with the interpretation of the P c (4312) and P c (4440)/ P c (4457) as $$ {\Lambda}_c\overline{D} $$ Λ c D ̄ and $$ {\Sigma}_c{\overline{D}}^{\ast } $$ Σ c D ̄ ∗ hadronic molecules, respectively, and that the data show clear evidence for a new narrow state, P c (4380), identified as a $$ {\Sigma}_c^{\ast}\overline{D} $$ Σ c ∗ D ̄ molecule, which should exist as a consequence of HQSS. While two statistically equally good solutions are found in scheme I, only one of these solutions with the quantum numbers of the P c (4440) and P c (4457) being J P = 3/2 − and 1/2 − , respectively, survives the requirement of regulator independence once the OPE is included. Moreover, we predict the line shapes in the elastic and inelastic channels and demonstrate that those related to the P c (4440) and the P c (4457) in the $$ {\Sigma}_c^{\left(\ast \right)}\overline{D} $$ Σ c ∗ D ̄ and η c p mass distributions from $$ {\Lambda}_b^0\to {\Sigma}_c^{\left(\ast \right)}\overline{D}{K}^{-} $$ Λ b 0 → Σ c ∗ D ̄ K − and $$ {\Lambda}_b^0\to {\eta}_c{pK}^{-} $$ Λ b 0 → η c pK − will shed light on the quantum numbers of those states, once the data are available. We also investigate possible pentaquark signals in the $$ {\Lambda}_c{\overline{D}}^{\left(\ast \right)} $$ Λ c D ̄ ∗ final states.
