Abstract:In this paper we define a continuous version of multiple zeta functions. They can be analytically continued to meromorphic functions on $\mathbb{C}^r$ with only simple poles at some special hyperplanes. The evaluations of these functions at positive integers (continuous multiple zeta values) satisfy the shuffle product. We give a detailed analysis about the depth structure of continuous multiple zeta values. There are also sum formulas for continuous multiple zeta values. Lastly we calculate some special continuous multiple zeta values in terms of special values of multiple polylogarithms.

Abstract:Recently, Maesaka, Watanabe, and the third author discovered a phenomenon where the iterated integral expressions of multiple zeta values become discretized. In this paper, we extend their result to the case of multiple polylogarithms and provide two proofs. The first proof uses the method of connected sums, while the second employs induction based on the difference equations that discrete multiple polylogarithms satisfy. We also investigate several applications of our main result.

Abstract:This paper finds relationships between multiple logarithms with a dihedral group action on the arguments. I generalize the combinatorics developed in Gangl, Goncharov and Levin's R-deco polygon representation of multiple logarithms to find these relations. By writing multiple logarithms as iterated integrals, my arguments are valid for iterated integrals as over an arbitrary field.

Abstract:We study the asymptotic behavior of a multiple series of Mordell-Tornheim type and its integral analogue at x=0. Our approach is to show a relation between the multiple series and its integral analogue by using Abel's summation formula, and to deeply investigate the behavior of the integral analogue. Additionally, we establish some nontrivial relations among multiple polylogarithms by comparing two seemingly different asymptotic formulas for the integral analogue.

Abstract:Abstract We introduce the multivariable connected sum which is a generalization of Seki–Yamamoto’s connected sum and prove the fundamental identity for these sums by series manipulation. This identity yields explicit procedures for evaluating multivariable connected sums and for giving relations among special values of multiple polylogarithms. In particular, our class of relations contains Ohno’s relations for multiple polylogarithms.

Abstract:Abstract By using the method of iterated integral representations of series, we establish some explicit relationships between multiple zeta values and integrals of logarithmic functions. As applications of these relations, we show that multiple zeta values of the form $$\begin{array}{} \zeta ( {\bar 1,{{\left\{ 1 \right\}}_{m - 1}},\bar 1,{{\left\{ 1 \right\}}_{k - 1}}} ),\qquad (k,m\in \mathbb{N}) \end{array} $$ for m = 1 or k = 1, and $$\begin{array}{} \zeta ( {\bar 1,{{\left\{ 1 \right\}}_{m - 1}},p,{{\left\{ 1 \right\}}_{k - 1}}}),\qquad (k,m\in\mathbb{N}) \end{array} $$ for p = 1 and 2, satisfy certain recurrence relations which allow us to write them in terms of zeta values, polylogarithms and ln 2. Furthermore, we also obtain reductions for certain multiple polylogarithmic values at $\begin{array}{} \frac {1}{2} \end{array} $ .

Abstract:In the present paper, we derive formulas of complex and $\ell$-adic multiple polylogarithms, which have two aspects: a duality in terms of indexes and a reflection in terms of variables. We provide an algebraic proof of these formulas by using algebraic relations between associators arising from the $S_3$-symmetry of the projective line minus three points.

Abstract:The objective of the paper is the study of Mneimneh-like sums with a parametric variant of the multiple harmonic-star values. We generalize and resolve the Pan-Xu conjecture on generalized Mneimneh-like sums and present their transformation. As an application, we deduce new reduction formulas for specific multiple polylogarithms enabling lowering their depth, and provide additional findings on arithmetic means of multiple harmonic-star values, resulting in new representations of arbitrary multiple zeta-star values.

Abstract:In the present paper, we establish an analytic continuation of Drinfeld logarithms by using the techniques introduced in Furusho (Tunis J Math 4(3):559–586, 2022) . This result can be seen as an analogue of the analytic continuation of the elliptic integrals of the first kind for Drinfeld modules.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a natural construction of mixed Tate motives whose periods are a class of iterated integrals which include the multiple polylogarithm functions. Given such an iterated integral, we construct two divisors A and B in the moduli spaces M¯0,n of n-pointed stable curves of genus 0, and prove that the cohomology of the pair (M¯0,n−A,B−B∩A) is a framed mixed Tate motive whose period is that integral. It generalizes the results of A. Goncharov and Yu. Manin for multiple ζ-values. Then we apply our construction to the dilogarithm and calculate the period matrix which turns out to be same with the canonical one of Deligne.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of finding a continuous extension of the hypercomplex (quaternionic or octonionic) logarithm along (quaternionic or octonionic) paths which avoid the origin. The main difficulty depends upon this fact: while a branch of the complex logarithm can be defined in a small open neighbourhood of a strictly negative real point, no continuous branch of the hypercomplex logarithm can be defined in any open set which contains a strictly negative real point. To overcome this difficulty, we use the logarithmic manifold introduced in [4]: in general, the existence of a lift of a path to this manifold is not guaranteed and, indeed, the problem of lifting a path to the logarithmic manifold is completely equivalent to the problem of finding a continuation of the hypercomplex logarithm along this path. The second part of the paper scrutinizes the existence of a notion of winding number (with respect to the origin) for hypercomplex loops that avoid the origin, even though it is known that the definition of winding number for such loops is not natural in R n when n is greater than 2. The surprise is that, in the hypercomplex setting, the new definition of winding number introduced in this paper can be given and has full meaning for a large class of hypercomplex loops (untwisted loops with companion that avoid the origin). Finally an original but rather natural notion of homotopy for these hypercomplex loops (the c-homotopy) is presented and it is proved to be suitable to comply with the intrinsic geometrical meaning of the winding number for this class of loops, namely, two such hypercomplex loops are c-homotopic if, and only if, they have the same winding number.

Abstract:We introduce an iterated integral version of (generalized) log-sine integrals (iterated log-sine integrals) and prove a relation between a multiple polylogarithm and iterated log-sine integrals. We also give a new method for obtaining relations among multiple zeta values, which uses iterated log-sine integrals, and give alternative proofs of several known results related to multiple zeta values and log-sine integrals.

Abstract:We define a Hopf algebra of polylogarithms of an infinite field, which is a candidate for a conjectural Hopf algebra of framed mixed Tate motives. Our definition is elementary and mimics Goncharov's construction of higher Bloch groups. We also discuss the Hodge and motivic realization of the Hopf algebra of polylogarithms.

Abstract:In this paper, we define multi poly-Bernoulli polynomials using multiple polylogarithm and derive some properties parallel to those of poly-Bernoulli polynomials. Furthermore, an explicit formula for certain Hurwitz-Lerch type multi poly-Bernoulli polynomials is established using the $r$-Whitney numbers of the second kind.

Abstract:We introduce a set of special functions called multiple polyexponential integrals, defined as iterated integrals of the exponential integral $\text{Ei}(z)$. These functions arise in certain perturbative expansions of the local solutions of second-order ODEs around an irregular singularity. In particular, their recursive definition describes the asymptotic behavior of these local solutions. To complement the study of the multiple polyexponential integrals on the entire complex plane, we relate them with two other sets of special functions - the undressed and dressed multiple polyexponential functions - which are characterized by their Taylor series expansions around the origin.

Abstract:We study black hole linear perturbation theory in a four-dimensional Schwarzschild (anti) de Sitter background. When dealing with a positive cosmological constant, the corresponding spectral problem is solved systematically via the Nekrasov-Shatashvili functions or, equivalently, classical Virasoro conformal blocks. However, this approach can be more complicated to implement for certain perturbations if the cosmological constant is negative. For these cases, we propose an alternative method to set up perturbation theory for both small and large black holes in an analytical manner. Our analysis reveals a new underlying recursive structure that involves multiple polylogarithms. We focus on gravitational, electromagnetic, and conformally coupled scalar perturbations subject to Dirichlet and Robin boundary conditions. The low-lying modes of the scalar sector of gravitational perturbations and its hydrodynamic limit are studied in detail.

Analytic Continuation and Reciprocity Relation for Collinear Splitting in QCD

Abstract:It is well-known that direct analytic continuation of the DGLAP evolution kernel (splitting functions) from space-like to time-like kinematics breaks down at three loops. We identify the origin of this breakdown as due to splitting functions not being analytic functions of external momenta. However, splitting functions can be constructed from the squares of (generalized) splitting amplitudes. We establish the rules of analytic continuation for splitting amplitudes, and use them to determine the analytic continuation of certain holomorphic and anti-holomorphic part of splitting functions and transverse-momentum dependent distributions. In this way we derive the time-like splitting functions at three loops without ambiguity. We also propose a reciprocity relation for singlet splitting functions, and provide non-trivial evidence that it holds in QCD at least through three loops.

Abstract:We introduce a new Lie-algebraic approach to explicitly construct the motivic coaction and single-valued map of multiple polylogarithms in any number of variables. In both cases, the appearance of multiple zeta values is controlled by conjugating generating series of polylogarithms with Lie-algebra generators associated with odd zeta values. Our reformulation of earlier constructions of coactions and single-valued polylogarithms preserves choices of fibration bases, exposes the correlation between multiple zeta values of different depths and paves the way for generalizations beyond genus zero.
