Abstract:In the early stages of the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the disease spread rapidly across China, staining the entire Chinese healthcare system in a short period of time and posing immense challenges for healthcare professionals. [ 1 , 2 ] In early February 2020, Guangdong Province reported the second largest number of confirmed cases after Hubei Province. [ 3 ] By initiating a first-level response to public health emergencies and implementing strict prevention and control measures, such as the lockdown of Wuhan, the closure of public entertainment venues, stay-at-home orders, recommendations to wear masks and to maintain a social distance, [ 1 , 4 ] China effectively controlled the epidemic and entered the normalization stage of prevention and control of COVID-19 in April 2020. [ 5 ] However, a local outbreak of the Delta variant occurred in Guangdong in mid-May 2021. [ 6 ] To achieve the goal of "early detection, early treatment, and early disposal" in the phase of normalized prevention and control, contact tracing must be initiated as soon as possible to break the entire chain of epidemic transmission.
