Abstract:The onset of chaos in one-dimensional spinning particle models derived from pseudoclassical mechanical hamiltonians with a bosonic Duffing potential is examined. Using the Melnikov method, we indicate the presence of homoclinic entanglements in models with general potentials for the spins, and thus show that chaotic motions occur in these models.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to explore the origin of chaotic phenomena in the one - dimensional spin - particle model. Specifically, by studying the one - dimensional spin - particle model (with the Bose - Duffing potential) derived from the pseudo - classical mechanical Hamiltonian, the author uses the Melnikov method to detect homoclinic tangles in these models, thereby revealing the existence of chaotic motion. ### Problem Background 1. **Chaotic motion of spin particles in Schwarzschild black - hole spacetime**: - Recent research by Suzuki and Maeda [1] shows that the motion of spin particles in Schwarzschild black - hole spacetime may be chaotic. This result is related to the detection of gravitational waves generated by black - hole mergers [2, 3], thus arousing interest in the chaotic motion of spin particles. 2. **Spin - particle models in pseudo - classical mechanics**: - The motion of spin particles can also be considered from another perspective, that is, describing spin particles as particles moving in the so - called "spin space", which contains Grassmann - valued vector variables as well as ordinary spacetime coordinates [4, 5]. - This spin - particle model involves pseudo - classical mechanics [6], making the interaction between chaos and spin - particle models very interesting. ### Research Objectives The author hopes to reveal the chaotic behavior of spin - particle models in more complex high - dimensional or curved spacetimes through the study of the simplest one - dimensional spin - particle model. Specifically: - **Model selection**: The author selects the one - dimensional Hamiltonian model with the Bose - Duffing potential: \[ H=\frac{p^{2}}{2}+V(x) \] where \[ V(x)= - x^{2}+x^{4} \] - **Homoclinic orbit analysis**: For the homoclinic orbit (separatrix) with energy \(E = 0\), the equations are particularly simple: \[ x_{s}(t)=\text{sech}(\sqrt{2}t) \] \[ p_{s}(t)=-\sqrt{2}\text{sech}(\sqrt{2}t)\tanh(\sqrt{2}t) \] - **Introduction of spin terms**: In order to consider the pseudo - classical model containing Grassmann variables, the author focuses on the model with three Grassmann variables \( \xi_{1}, \xi_{2}, \xi_{3}\): \[ H=\frac{p^{2}}{2}+V(x)-\frac{i}{2}\sum_{i,j,k = 1}^{3}\epsilon_{ijk}W_{i}(x)\xi_{j}\xi_{k} \] where \(W_{i}(x)\) is the potential energy of Grassmann variables. The Hamiltonian can be written as: \[ H=\frac{p^{2}}{2}+V(x)-\vec{W}(x)\cdot\vec{S} \] where the "spin" \(\vec{S}\) is defined as: \[ S_{i}=-\frac{i}{2}\epsilon_{ijk}\xi_{j}\xi_{k} \] ### Chaos Detection Method The author uses the Melnikov method to detect the emergence of chaotic motion. The Melnikov function is used to measure the transverse distance between the stable and unstable orbits after perturbation on the Poincaré section. If the Melnikov function has isolated zeros, it indicates the existence of complex homoclinic tangles, thus indicating the existence of chaotic behavior. ### Conclusion Through the above analysis, the author proves the existence of homoclinic tangles in the one - dimensional spin - particle model (with the Bose - Duffing potential and other general potentials), thereby revealing the emergence of chaotic motion. They also expect similar results to be applicable to other potentials with homoclinic or heteroclinic orbits, and this chaotic behavior may also occur in spin - particle models in higher - dimensional or curved spacetimes. In summary, through rigorous mathematical analysis, this paper reveals the origin of chaotic behavior in spin - particle models, providing a theoretical basis for further research on chaotic phenomena in complex systems.
