Abstract:The Faddeev equations for the three-body bound state with two- and three-body forces are solved directly as three-dimensional integral equation. The numerical feasibility and stability of the algorithm, which does not employ partial wave decomposition is demonstrated. The three-body binding energy and the full wave function are calculated with Malfliet-Tjon-type two-body potentials and scalar Fujita-Miyazawa type three-body forces. The influence of the strength and range of the three-body force on the wave function, single particle momentum distributions and the two-body correlation functions are studied in detail. The extreme case of pure three-body forces is investigated as well.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is: directly solve the Faddeev equation of the three - body bound state including two - body and three - body forces without using partial - wave decomposition. Specifically, the author hopes to demonstrate the numerical feasibility and stability of this method and calculate the three - body binding energy and the full - wave function. ### Problem Background 1. **Limitations of Traditional Methods** - Traditional methods for solving the Faddeev equation rely on angular - momentum decomposition, which involves complex algebraic operations and a large number of state combinations. - This method is particularly complex for dealing with three - body forces in three - body systems because more permutations and interactions need to be considered. 2. **Advantages of the New Method** - The new method directly uses momentum vectors in momentum space to represent and solve the Faddeev equation, avoiding angular - momentum decomposition. - This method can handle three - body systems more intuitively and transparently and can still operate efficiently when computing resources are limited. ### Research Objectives 1. **Verify Numerical Feasibility** - Demonstrate the numerical feasibility and stability of directly solving the Faddeev equation including two - body and three - body forces without using partial - wave decomposition. 2. **Calculate Physical Quantities** - Calculate the three - body binding energy and the full - wave function. - Analyze the single - particle momentum distribution and the two - body correlation function to verify whether these results are similar to those of the actual nuclear force. ### Method Overview - **Equation Form** - The Faddeev equation is represented as a three - dimensional integral equation and directly solved in momentum space. - Use the Malfilet - Tjon - type two - body potential and the scalar double - meson - exchange three - body force. - **Numerical Implementation** - Use the Lanczos - type algorithm to iteratively solve the Faddeev equation. - Integrate through Gaussian grid points to ensure computational accuracy. ### Results and Significance - **Numerical Results** - Successfully calculate the three - body binding energy and wave function and demonstrate their numerical stability and accuracy. - The single - particle momentum distribution and the two - body correlation function are qualitatively consistent with the results of the actual nuclear force. - **Physical Significance** - This method provides a solid foundation for future research on more complex three - body systems (such as those including spin and isospin degrees of freedom). - It provides the possibility of extension to other fields (such as relativistic dynamics). In summary, the main purpose of this paper is to present a new method without angular - momentum decomposition to solve the three - body bound - state problem including three - body forces and verify its numerical feasibility and physical rationality.
