Abstract:We use a metric of the type Friedmann-Robertson-Walker to obtain new exact solutions of Einstein equations for a scalar and massive field. The solutions have a permanent or transitory inflationary behavior.

Abstract:In this paper we present a number of examples of exact solutions for the Friedmann cosmological equation for metric $ F(R) $ gravity model. Emphasis was placed on the possibility of obtaining exact time dependences of the main cosmological physical quantities: scale factor, scalar curvature, Hubble rate and function $ F(R) $. For this purpose an ansatz was used to reduce the Friedmann equation to an ordinary differential equation for function $ F = F(H^{2})$. This made it possible to obtain a number of exact solutions, both already known and new.

Abstract:We investigate an exact solution that describes the embedding of the four-dimensional (4D) perfect fluid in a five-dimensional (5D) Einstein spacetime. The effective metric of the 4D perfect fluid as a hypersurface with induced matter is equivalent to the Robertson–Walker metric of cosmology. This general solution shows interconnections among many 5D solutions, such as the solution in the braneworld scenario and the topological black hole with cosmological constant. If the 5D cosmological constant is positive, the metric periodically depends on the extra dimension. Thus we can compactify the extra dimension on S1 and study the phenomenological issues. We also generalize the metric ansatz to the higher-dimensional case, in which the 4D part of the Einstein equations can be reduced to a linear equation.

Abstract:We use the method of the superpotential to derive exact solutions describing inflationary cosmologies in multi-field models. An example that describes a solution that interpolates between two de Sitter universes is described in detail. New analytical solutions for axion-dilaton cosmologies are also presented.

Abstract:New one parameter family of exact solutions in General Relativity with a scalar field is found. The metric is of Liouville type which admits complete separation of variables in the geodesic Hamilton--Jacobi equation. This solution exists for the exponential potential for a scalar field and is invariant with respect to global Lorentz transformations. It describes, in particular, a black hole formation as well as a naked singularity. Solutions corresponding to the naked singularity describe accelerating expansion of the homogeneous and isotropic Universe, and can be smoothly continued along geodesics to infinite past without Big Bang.

Abstract:We show some characteristics of three exact solutions to Einstein's gravity equation minimally coupled to a Quintessence field. Besides eternal inflation, several other interesting inflationary processes, such as transitory inflation, are obtained in these solutions. Singularity is avoided in some special cases.

Abstract:We study the dynamics of the field equations in a five-dimensional spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker metric in the context of a Gauss-Bonnet-Scalar field theory where the quintessence scalar field is coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet scalar. Contrary to the four-dimensional Gauss-Bonnet theory, where the Gauss-Bonnet term does not contribute to the field equations, in this five-dimensional Einstein-Scalar-Gauss-Bonnet model, the Gauss-Bonnet term contributes to the field equations even when the coupling function is a constant. Additionally, we consider a more general coupling described by a power-law function. For the scalar field potential, we consider the exponential function. For each choice of the coupling function, we define a set of dimensionless variables and write the field equations into a system of ordinary differential equations. We perform a detailed analysis of the dynamics for both systems and classify the stability of the equilibrium points. We determine the presence of scaling and super-collapsing solutions using the cosmological deceleration parameter. This means that our models can explain the Universe's early and late-time acceleration phases. Consequently, this model can be used to study inflation or as a dark energy candidate.

Abstract:We propose a general method for solving exactly the static field equations of Einstein and Einstein-Maxwell gravity minimally coupled to a scalar field. Our method starts from an ansatz for the scalar field profile, and determines, together with the metric functions, the corresponding form of the scalar self-interaction potential. Using this method we prove a new no-hair theorem about the existence of hairy black-hole and black-brane solutions and derive broad classes of static solutions with radial symmetry of the theory, which may play an important role in applications of the AdS/CFT correspondence to condensed matter and strongly coupled QFTs. These solutions include: 1) four- or generic $(d+2)$-dimensional solutions with planar, spherical or hyperbolic horizon topology; 2) solutions with AdS, domain wall and Lifshitz asymptotics; 3) solutions interpolating between an AdS spacetime in the asymptotic region and a domain wall or conformal Lifshitz spacetime in the near-horizon region.

Abstract:The Einstein gravitational equations in the spherically symmetric case and for the dust model (i.e., p = 0) have been studied by several authors. However, the solutions obtained by them are not completed yet, and the corresponding metric is written in implicit forms which is inconvenient for physical problems. In the present paper we make the following improvements: (1) We obtain all spherical solutions for the dust model with explicit expressions which consist of three classes and an exceptional case; (2) All these solutions contain singularities which are analyzed together with their physical properties.

Abstract:The Einstein equations of general relativity reduce, when the spacetime metric is of the Friedmann--Lemaitre--Robertson--Walker type governing an isotropic and homogeneous universe, to the Friedmann equations, which is a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations, determining the law of evolution of the spatial scale factor, in terms of the Hubble ``constant''. It is a challenging task, not always possible, to solve these equations. In this talk, we present some insights from solving and analyzing the Friedmann equations and their implications to evolutionary cosmology. In particular, in the Chaplygin fluid universe, we derive a universal formula for the asymptotic exponential growth rate of the scale factor which indicates that, as far as there is a tiny presence of nonlinear (exotic) matter, linear (conventional) matter makes contribution to the dark energy, which becomes significant near the phantom divide line. Exact solutions in Einstein-Yang-Mills-Dirac systems

Abstract:We present exact solutions in Einstein-Yang-Mills-Dirac theories with gauge groups SU(2) and SU(4) in Robertson-Walker space-time $R \times S^3 $, which are symmetric under the action of the group SO(4) of spatial rotations. Our approach is based on the dimensional reduction method for gauge and gravitational fields and relates symmetric solutions in EYMD theory to certain solutions of an effective dynamical system. We interpret our solutions as cosmological solutions with an oscillating Yang-Mills field passing between topologically distinct vacua. The explicit form of the solution for spinor field shows that its energy changes the sign during the evolution of the Yang-Mills field from one vacuum to the other, which can be considered as production or annihilation of fermions. Among the obtained solutions there is also a static sphaleron-like solution, which is a cosmological analogue of the first Bartnik-McKinnon solution in the presence of fermions.

Some exact relativistic star solutions in $f(R)$ gravity

Abstract:We present a covariant description of non-vacuum static spherically symmetric spacetimes in $f(R)$ gravity applying the (1+1+2) covariant formalism. The propagation equations are then used to derive a covariant and dimensionless form of the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations. We then give a solution strategy to these equations and obtain some new exact solutions for the particular case $f(R)=R+\alpha R^{2}$, which have the correct thermodynamic properties for standard matter. We find that one of the solutions represents a stellar object with a unique structure called a double layer.

Abstract:We present an exact solution of Einstein's field equations in toroidal coordinates. The solution has three regions: an interior with a string equation of state; an Israel boundary layer; an exterior with constant isotropic pressure and constant density, locally isometric to anti-de Sitter spacetime. The exterior can be a cosmological vacuum with negative cosmological constant. The size and mass of the toroidal loop depend on the size of the cosmological constant.

Abstract:We study the dynamics of the field equations in a four-dimensional isotropic and homogeneous spatially flat Friedmann--Lema\^ıtre--Robertson--Walker geometry in the context of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory with a matter source and a scalar field coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet scalar. In this theory, the Gauss-Bonnet term contributes to the field equations. The mass of the scalar field depends on the potential function and the Gauss-Bonnet term. For the scalar field potential, we consider the exponential function and the coupling function between the scalar field and the Gauss-Bonnet scalar is considered to be the linear function. Moreover, the scalar field can have a phantom behaviour. We consider a set of dimensionless variables and write the field equations into a system or algebraic-differential equations. For the latter, we investigate the equilibrium points and their stability properties. In order to perform a global analysis of the asymptotic dynamics, we use compactified variables. This gravitational theory can explain the Universe's recent and past acceleration phases. Therefore, it can be used as a toy model for studying inflation or as a dark energy candidate.

Abstract:In this manuscript, we put forth a general scheme for defining initial value problems from Einstein's equations of General Relativity constrained by homogeneous and isotropic expansion. The cosmological models arising as solutions are naturally interpreted as spatially homogeneous and isotropic on ``large scales". In order to show the well-posedness and applicability of such a scheme, we specialize in a class of spacetimes filled with the general homogeneous perfect fluid and inhomogeneous viscoelastic matter. We prove the existence, uniqueness, and relative stability of solutions, and an additional inequality for the energy density. As a consequence of our theorems, a new mechanism of energy transfer appears involving the different components of matter. A class of exact solutions is also obtained to exemplify the general results.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss a general method to obtain exact cosmological solutions in modified gravity, to demonstrate the method it is employed to obtain exact cosmological solutions in $f(R,\phi)$ gravity. Here, we show that, given a particular evolution of the Universe, we could obtain different models of gravity that give that evolution, using the same construction. Further, we obtain an exact inflationary solution for Starobinsky action with a negligible cosmological constant. This analysis helps us to have a better understanding of Starobinsky inflation. With our analysis we could refine the parameter values and predictions of Starobinsky inflation. Also, we make an observation that there exist a no-go theorem for a bounce from Starobinsky action in the absence of scalar fields or a cosmological constant.

Isotropic Exact Solutions via Noether Symmetries in $f(R,T,R_{μν}T^{μν})$ Gravity

Abstract:In this paper, we study cosmic evolutionary stages in the background of modified theory admitting non-minimal coupling between Ricci scalar, trace of the energy-momentum tensor, contracted Ricci and energy-momentum tensors. For dust distribution, we consider isotropic, homogeneous and flat cosmic model to determine symmetry generators, conserved integrals and exact solutions using Noether symmetry scheme. We find maximum symmetries for non-minimally interacting Ricci scalar and trace of the energy-momentum tensor but none of them correspond to any standard symmetry. For rest of the models, we obtain scaling symmetry with conserved linear momentum. The graphical analysis of standard cosmological parameters, squared speed of sound, viability conditions suggested by Dolgov-Kawasaki instability and state-finder parameters identify realistic nature of new models compatible with Chaplygin gas model, quintessence and phantom regions. The fractional densities relative to ordinary matter and dark energy are found to be consistent with Planck 2018 observational data. It is concluded that the constructed non-minimally coupled models successfully explore cosmic accelerated expansion.

Abstract:Journal of Hyperbolic Differential Equations, Volume 20, Issue 04, Page 853-902, December 2023. We investigate the asymptotic stability of solutions to the characteristic initial value problem for the Einstein (massless) scalar field system with a positive cosmological constant. We prescribe spherically symmetric initial data on a future null cone with a wider range of decaying profiles than previously considered. New estimates are then derived in order to prove that, for small data, the system has a unique global classical solution. We also show that the solution decays exponentially in (Bondi) time and that the radial decay is essentially polynomial, although containing logarithmic factors in some special cases. This improved asymptotic analysis allows us to show that, under appropriate and natural decaying conditions on the initial data, the future asymptotic solution is differentiable, up to and including spatial null-infinity, and approaches the de Sitter solution, uniformly, in a neighborhood of infinity. Moreover, we analyze the decay of derivatives of the solution up to second order showing the (uniform) [math]-asymptotic stability of the de Sitter attractor in this setting. This corresponds to a surprisingly strong realization of the cosmic no-hair conjecture.

Extension of Buchdahl's Theorem on Reciprocal Solutions

Abstract:Since the development of Brans-Dicke gravity, it has become well-known that a conformal transformation of the metric can reformulate this theory, transferring the coupling of the scalar field from the Ricci scalar to the matter sector. Specifically, in this new frame, known as the Einstein frame, Brans-Dicke gravity is reformulated as General Relativity supplemented by an additional scalar field. In 1959, Hans Adolf Buchdahl utilized an elegant technique to derive a set of solutions for the vacuum field equations within this gravitational framework. In this paper, we extend Buchdahl's method to incorporate the cosmological constant and to the scalar-tensor cases beyond the Brans-Dicke archetypal theory, thereby, with a conformal transformation of the metric, obtaining solutions for a version of Brans-Dicke theory that includes a quadratic potential. More specifically, we obtain synchronous solutions in the following contexts: in scalar-tensor gravity with massless scalar fields, Brans-Dicke theory with a quadratic potential, where we obtain specific synchronous metrics to the Schwarzschild-de Sitter metric, the Nariai solution, and a hyperbolically foliated solution.

Exponential-Potential Scalar Field Universes II: The Inhomogeneous Models

Abstract:We obtain exact solutions for the Einstein equations with an exponential-potential scalar field ($V=\Lambda e^{k\phi}$) which represent simple inhomogeneous generalizations of Bianchi I cosmologies. Studying these equations numerically we find that in most of the cases there is a certain period of inflationary behaviour for $k^2<2$. We as well find that for $k^2>2$ the solutions homogenize generically at late times. Yet, {\em none of the solutions} isotropize. For some particular values of the integration constants we find a multiple inflationary behaviour for which the deceleration and the inflationary phases interchange each other several times during the history of the model.
