Abstract:The observance of Ramadan intermittent fasting (RIF), one of the 5 pillars of Islam, encompasses a period of abstinence from dawn until sunset over the course of a lunar month (29–30 days). This practice, representing a form of diurnal intermittent fasting, is embraced by adult Muslims globally. [ 1 ] The duration of the daily fast varies, ranging from 11 to 20 hours, and is influenced by geographical differences and seasonal variations in day length. Fasting is traditionally broken with a sunset meal known as Iftar and initiated with a predawn meal termed Suhoor . While this practice is deeply rooted in spirituality, it presents a unique model for studying time-restricted eating and its physiological implications.
