Abstract:Let $\mathscr{T}(L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}))$ be the Toeplitz algebra, that is, the $C^*$-algebra generated by the set $\{T_{\phi} : \phi\in L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T})\}$. Douglas's theorem on symbol map states that there exists a $C^*$-algebra homomorphism from $\mathscr{T}(L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}))$ onto $L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T})$ such that $T_{\phi}\mapsto \phi$ and the kernel of the homomorphism coincides with commutator ideal in $\mathscr{T}(L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}))$. In this paper, we use the Berezin transform to study results akin to Douglas's theorem for operators on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D}^n)$ over the open unit polydisc $\mathbb{D}^n$ for $n\geq 1$. We further obtain a class of bigger $C^*$-algebras than the Toeplitz algebra $\mathscr{T}(L^{\infty}(\mathbb{T}^n))$ for which the analog of symbol map still holds true.

Abstract:A major open question in the theory of Toeplitz operator on the Bergman space of the unit disk of the complex plane is to fully characterize the set of all Toeplitz operators that commute with a given one. In [2], the second author described the sum $S = T_{e^{im\theta}f} +T_{e^{il\theta}g}$, where $f$ and $g$ are radial functions, that commutes with the sum $T = T_{e^{ip\theta}r(2M+1)p} +T_{e^{is\theta}r(2N+1)s}$ . It is proved that $S = cT$, where $c$ is a constant. In this article, we shall replace $r^{(2M+1)p}$ and $r^{(2N+1)s}$ by $r^n$ and $r^d$ respectively, with $n$ and $d$ in $\mathbb{N}$, and we shall show that the same result holds.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate some algebraic properties of Toeplitz operators over higher Cauchy–Riemann spaces $C_{\alpha ,m}$ on the unit ball $\mathbb {B}^d$ with $d\ge 2$. We first discuss the Berezin transform on higher Cauchy–Riemann spaces. By making use of Berezin transform, we completely characterize (semi-)commuting Toeplitz operators with bounded pluriharmonic symbols over higher Cauchy–Riemann space $C_{\alpha ,m}$. Moreover, we show that compact products of finite Toeplitz operators with a class of bounded pluriharmonic symbols only happen in the trivial case.

Abstract:In this paper, we initially study when an anti-linear Toeplitz operator is in the commutant of a composition operator. Primarily, we investigate weighted composition operators $W_{g,\psi}$ commuting with complex symmetric weighted composition operators $W_{f,\varphi}$ on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D})$. In particular, we give the descriptions of the symbols $g$ and $\psi$ such that the inducing weighted composition operator $W_{g,\psi}$ commutes with the complex symmetric weighted composition operator $W_{f,\varphi}$ with the conjugation $\mathcal{J}$. Furthermore, we subsequently demonstrate that these weighted composition operators are normal and complex symmetric in accordance with the properties of the fixed point of the associated symbol $\varphi$.

Abstract:We study the boundedness of Toeplitz operators $T_\psi$ with locally integrable symbols on weighted harmonic Bergman spaces over the unit ball of $\mathbb{R}^n$. Generalizing earlier results for analytic function spaces, we derive a general sufficient condition for the boundedness of $T_\psi$ in terms of suitable averages of its symbol. We also obtain a similar "vanishing" condition for compactness. Finally, we show how these results can be transferred to the setting of the standard weighted Bergman spaces of analytic functions.

Abstract:We develop a new semiclassical calculus in analytic regularity, and apply these techniques to the study of Berezin–Toeplitz quantization in real-analytic regularity. We provide asymptotic formulas for the Bergman projector and Berezin–Toeplitz operators on a compact Kähler manifold. These objects depend on an integer N and we study, in the limit $N\rightarrow +\infty $, situations in which one can control them up to an error $O(e^{-cN})$ for some $c>0$. We develop a calculus of Toeplitz operators with real-analytic symbols, which applies to Kähler manifolds with real-analytic metrics. In particular, we prove that the Bergman kernel is controlled up to $O(e^{-cN})$ on any real-analytic Kähler manifold as $N\rightarrow +\infty $. We also prove that Toeplitz operators with analytic symbols can be composed and inverted up to $O(e^{-cN})$. As an application, we study eigenfunction concentration for Toeplitz operators if both the manifold and the symbol are real-analytic. In this case we prove exponential decay in the classically forbidden region.

Abstract:In this paper, we conducted a study of H-Toeplitz operators on the Dirichlet type space $ \mathfrak{D}_{t} $, which included several aspects. To begin, we established the matrix representation of the H-Toeplitz operator $ S_{\varphi} $ with respect to the orthonormal basis of $ \mathfrak{D}_t $. Subsequently, we characterized the compactness of $ S_{\varphi} $ in terms of the symbol $ \varphi $. Furthermore, we developed a new method to investigate the algebraic properties of H-Toeplitz operators, including self-adjointness, diagonality, co-isometry, partial isometry as well as commutativity.

Abstract:A well known result of Brown and Halmos shows that the Toeplitz operators induced by $L^{\infty}(\mathbb T)$ symbols on the Hardy space of the unit disc $\mathbb D$ are characterized by the operator identity $T_{\bar{z}}AT_z=A,$ where $T_z, T_{\bar{z}}$ are the Toeplitz operators induced by the function $z$ and $\bar{z}$ on the unit circle $\mathbb T$ respectively. In this paper we introduce and study a class of Toeplitz operators on the Dirichlet space $\mathcal{D} _0$ induced by a symbol class $\mathcal T(\mathcal D _0)= \overline{H^{\infty}_0(\mathbb D)} + \mathcal M(\mathcal D_0 ),$ where $H^{\infty}_0(\mathbb D)$ denotes the set of all bounded analytic function on $\mathbb D$ vanishing at $0$ and $\mathcal M(\mathcal D _0)$ denotes the multiplier algebra of the Dirichlet space $\mathcal D_0.$ We find that the Toeplitz operators on the Dirichlet space $\mathcal D$ induced by the symbol class $\mathcal T(\mathcal D _0)$ is completely characterized by the operator identity $T_{\bar{z}}AT_z=A.$

Abstract:Motivated by the canonical decomposition of contractions on Hilbert spaces, we investigate when contractive Toeplitz operators on vector-valued Hardy spaces on the unit disc admit a non-zero reducing subspace on which its restriction is unitary. We show that for a Hilbert space $\mathcal{E}$ and operator-valued symbol $\Phi \in L_{\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{E})}^{\infty}(\mathbb{T})$, the Toeplitz operator $T_{\Phi}$ on $H_{\mathcal{E}}^2(\mathbb{D})$ has such a unitary subspace if and only if there exists a Hilbert space $\mathcal{F}$, an inner function $\Theta(z) \in H_{\mathcal{B}(\mathcal{F}, \mathcal{E})}^{\infty}(\mathbb{D})$, and a unitary $U:\mathcal{F} \rightarrow \mathcal{F}$ such that \[ \Phi(e^{it}) \Theta(e^{it}) = \Theta(e^{it}) U \quad \text{and} \quad \Phi(e^{it})^* \Theta(e^{it}) = \Theta(e^{it}) U^* \quad (\text{ a.e. on }\mathbb{T}). \] This result can be seen as a generalization of the corresponding result for Toeplitz operators on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ by Goor in [13]. Abstract:In this paper we study the minimality of the commutant of an analytic Toeplitz operator $M_\varphi$, when $M_\varphi$ is defined on the Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ and $\varphi\in H^\infty(\mathbb{D})$, denotes a bounded analytic function on $\mathbb{D}$. Specifically we show that the commutant of $M_\varphi$ is minimal if and only if the polynomials on $\varphi$ are weak-star dense in $H^\infty(\mathbb{D})$, that is, $\varphi$ is a weak-star generator of $H^\infty(\mathbb{D})$. We use our result to characterize when the double commutant of an analytic Toeplitz operator $M_\varphi$ is minimal, for a large class of symbols $\varphi$. Namelly, when $\varphi$ is an entire function, or more generally when $\varphi$ belongs to the Thomson-Cowen's class.

Abstract:Based on our paper (Dan et al. in J Funct Anal 273:559–597, 2017), we continue the study on totally Abelian analytic Toeplitz operators on the Hardy space. However, rather than to focus on the geometry of the symbol curves associated with these operators as done before, this paper is to consider the Riemann surfaces in $${\mathbb {C}}^{2}$$ defined by these symbols. In this way, we reveal the connection between the totally Abelian property of these operators and the distinguished varieties arising from the Riemann surfaces, thus widely extend the classes of function symbols considered in the previous paper. Furthermore, an alternative method is used to provide a sharp characterization for analytic Toeplitz operators being not totally Abelian.

Abstract:This paper mainly studies totally Abelian operators in the context of analytic Toeplitz operators on both the Hardy and Bergman space. When the symbol is a meromorphic function on C, we establish the connection between the totally Abelian property of these operators and geometric properties of their symbol curves. It is found that winding numbers and multiplicities of self-intersection of symbol curves play an important role in this topic. Techniques of group theory, complex analysis, geometry and operator theory are intrinsic in this paper. As a byproduct, under a mild condition we provide an affirmative answer to a question raised in [2], and also construct some examples to show that the answer is negative if the associated conditions are weakened.
