Abstract:By means of a Fourier-Mukai transform we embed moduli spaces of stable bundles on an algebraic curve C as isotropic subvarieties of moduli spaces of mu-stable bundles on the Jacobian variety J(C). When g(C)=2 this provides new examples of special Lagrangian submanifolds.

Abstract:On a normal projective variety the locus of $\mu$-stable bundles that remain $\mu$-stable on all Galois covers prime to the characteristic is open in the moduli space of Gieseker semi-stable sheaves. On a smooth projective curve of genus at least 2 this locus is big in the moduli space of stable bundles, i.e., its complement has codimension at least 2.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a very general Gushel-Mukai (GM) variety of dimension $n\geq 4$, and let $Y$ be a smooth hyperplane section. There are natural pull-back and push-forward functors between the semi-orthogonal components (known as the Kuznetsov components) of the derived categories of $X$ and $Y$. In the first part of the paper, we prove that the Bridgeland stability of objects is preserved by both pull-back and push-forward functors. We then explore various applications of this result, such as constructing an 8-dimensional smooth family of Lagrangian subvarieties for each moduli space of stable objects in the Kuznetsov component of a general GM fourfold, and proving the projectivity of the moduli spaces of semistable objects of any class in the Kuznetsov component of a general GM threefold, as conjectured by Perry, Pertusi, and Zhao. In the second part, we study in detail the double EPW cube, a 6-dimensional hyperkähler manifold associated with a very general GM fourfold $X$, through the Bridgeland moduli space, and show that it is the maximal rationally connected (MRC) quotient of the Hilbert scheme of twisted cubics on $X$. We also prove that it admits a covering by Lagrangian subvarieties, constructed from the Hilbert schemes of twisted cubics on GM threefolds.

Abstract:We exhibit the first non-trivial concrete examples of Gromov-Hausdorff compactifications of moduli spaces of K\"ahler-Einstein Fano manifolds in all complex dimensions bigger than two (Fano K-moduli spaces). We also discuss potential applications to explicit study of moduli spaces of K-stable Fano manifolds with large anti-canonical volume. Our arguments are based on recent progress about the geometry of metric tangent cones and on related ideas about the algebro-geometric study of singularities of K-stable Fano varieties.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a K3 surface and let $\text{Spl}(r;c_1,c_2)$ be the moduli space of simple sheaves on $X$ of fixed rank $r$ and Chern classes $c_1$ and $c_2$. Under suitable assumptions, to a pair $(F,W)$ (respectively, $(F,V)$) where $F\in \text{Spl}(r;c_1,c_2)$ and $W\subset H^0(F)$ (resp.~$V^*\subset H^1(F^*)$) is a vector subspace, we associate a simple syzygy bundle (resp.~extension bundle) on $X$. We show that both syzygy bundles and extension bundles can be constructed in families and that the induced morphism to a different component of the moduli of simple sheaves is a locally closed embedding. We show that this construction associates to every Lagrangian (resp.~isotropic) algebraic subspace of $\text{Spl}(r;c_1,c_2)$ an induced Lagrangian (resp.~isotropic) algebraic subspace of a different component of the moduli of simple sheaves.

Complex Lagrangian minimal surfaces, bi-complex Higgs bundles and $\mathrm{SL}(3,\mathbb{C})$-quasi-Fuchsian representations

Abstract:In this paper we introduce complex minimal Lagrangian surfaces in the bi-complex hyperbolic space and study their relation with representations in $\mathrm{SL}(3,\mathbb{C})$. Our theory generalizes at the same time minimal Lagrangian surfaces in the complex hyperbolic plane, hyperbolic affine spheres in $\mathbb{R}^3$, and Bers embeddings in the holomorphic space form $\mathbb{CP}^1 \times \mathbb{CP}^1 \setminus \Delta$. If these surfaces are equivariant under representations in $\mathrm{SL}(3,\mathbb{C})$, our approach generalizes the study of almost $\mathbb{R}$-Fuchsian representations in $\mathrm{SU}(2,1)$, Hitchin representations in $\mathrm{SL}(3,\mathbb{R})$, and quasi-Fuchsian representations in $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$. Moreover, we give a parameterization of $\mathrm{SL}(3,\mathbb{C})$-quasi-Fuchsian representations by an open set in the product of two copies of the bundle of holomorphic cubic differentials over the Teichmüller space of $S$, from which we deduce that this space of representations is endowed with a bi-complex structure. In the process, we introduce bi-complex Higgs bundles as a new tool for studying representations into semisimple complex Lie groups.

Abstract:Abstract A symplectic bundle over an algebraic curve has a natural invariant s Lag determined by the maximal degree of its Lagrangian subbundles. This can be viewed as a generalization of the classical Segre invariants of a vector bundle. We give a sharp upper bound on s Lag which is analogous to the Hirschowitz bound on the classical Segre invariants. Furthermore, we study the stratifications induced by s Lag on moduli spaces of symplectic bundles, and get a full picture for the case of rank four.

Abstract:Using Legendrian immersions and, in particular, Legendre curves in odd-dimensional spheres and anti-de Sitter spaces, we construct new examples of Hamiltonian-minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective and hyperbolic spaces, including explicit one-parameter families of embeddings of quotients of certain product manifolds. We also give new examples of minimal Lagrangian submanifolds in complex projective and hyperbolic spaces. Making use of all these constructions, we get Hamiltonian-minimal and special Lagrangian cones in complex Euclidean space as well.
Stratifying the moduli space of stable vector bundles by decomposition type

Abstract:The moduli space of slope-stable vector bundles on a normal projective variety over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p\geq 0$ is stratified with respect to the decomposition type. On a smooth projective curve of genus at least 2 we obtain mostly sharp dimension estimates for these strata. As an application, we obtain a dimension estimate for the closure of the prime to p trivializable stable bundles in the moduli space of stable vector bundles.

Abstract:In the first part of this paper we consider compact algebraic manifolds M^2n with an algebraic (n-1)-Torus action. We show that there is a T-invariant meromorphic section $\sigma$ of the canonical bundle of M. Any such $\sigma$ defines a divisor D. On the complement M'=M-D we have a trivialization of the canonical bundle and a T-action. If the first cohomology of M' vanishes, then results of [2] imply that there is a Special Lagrangian (SLag) fibration on M'. We study how the fibers compactify in M and give examples of SLag fibrations on M', including some cases there the first cohomology of M' doesn't vanish. In the second part of the paper we study Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in M. We assume that $\sigma$ is an inverse of a holomorphic section $\eta$ of the anti-canonical bundle of M. We will see that under certain assumptions one can choose a holomorphic volume form on the smooth part D' of the divisor D s.t. orbits of the T-action give a SLag fibration on D' with respect to the metric, induced from M. Transversal sections $\eta_j$ near $\eta$ define smooth Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces D_j in M. We will show that one can deform the SLag fibration on D' to SLag fibrations on large parts of D_j. This construction applies for instance for D_j being quintics in CP^4 or Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in the Grassmanian G(2,4).
Moduli of generalized syzygy bundles

Abstract:Given a vector bundle $F$ on a variety $X$ and $W\subset H^0(F)$ such that the evaluation map $W\otimes \mathcal{O}_X\to F$ is surjective, its kernel $S_{F,W}$ is called generalized syzygy bundle. Under mild assumptions, we construct a moduli space $\mathcal{G}^0_U$ of simple generalized syzygy bundles, and show that the natural morphism $\alpha$ to the moduli of simple sheaves is a locally closed embedding. If moreover $H^1(X,\mathcal{O}_X)=0$, we find an explicit open subspace $\mathcal{G}^0_V$ of $\mathcal{G}^0_U$ where the restriction of $\alpha$ is an open embedding. In particular, if $\dim X\ge 3$ and $H^1(\mathcal{O}_X)=0$, starting from an ample line bundle (or a simple rigid vector bundle) on $X$ we construct recursively open subspaces of moduli spaces of simple sheaves on $X$ that are smooth, rational, quasiprojective varieties.

Abstract:Generalized complex (GC) geometry interpolates between ordinary symplectic and complex geometry. Stable generalized complex manifolds (first introduced by Cavalcanti, Gualtieri in 2015) carry a Poisson structure which is generically symplectic, but degenerates on a (real) codimension-2 submanifold. Up to gauge equivalence, the stable generalized complex structure is thus determined by what is called an elliptic symplectic form, which allows the extension of a number of techniques and results from symplectic geometry to stable GC geometry. This paper introduces a new type of submanifold in stable GC manifolds: Lagrangian branes with boundary, which are generically Lagrangian and intersect the degeneracy locus in their boundary. By relating stable GC manifolds to log symplectic manifolds, we are able to prove results on local neighbourhoods and small deformations of such branes. We further investigate stable generalized complex Lefschetz fibrations, where Lagrangian branes with boundary arise as Lefschetz thimbles. These objects are thus expected to be part of a Fukaya category for stable GC manifolds, which we hope to develop in future work and which would allow the application of Floer theory techniques to a larger class of manifolds.

Abstract:If $X\subset\operatorname{Gr}(2,6)$ is the Fano variety of lines of a smooth cubic fourfold, then we show that the restriction to $X$ of any Schur functor of the tautological quotient bundle is modular and slope polystable. Moreover it is atomic if and only if it is rigid, in which case it is also slope stable. We further compute the Ext-groups of such bundles in infinitely many cases, showing in particular the existence of new modular vector bundles on manifolds of type $\operatorname{K3}^{[2]}$ that are slope stable and whose $\operatorname{Ext}^1$-group is 40-dimensional.

Moduli of codimension two linear sections of subadjoint varieties

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple algebraic group of type $F_{4}$, $E_{6}$, $E_{7}$ or $E_{8}$, and let $\mathfrak{g}$ be its Lie algebra. The adjoint variety $X_{ad} \subseteq \mathbb{P} \mathfrak{g}$ is defined as the unique closed orbit of the adjoint action of $G$ on $\mathbb{P}\mathfrak{g}$. $X_{ad}$ is a Fano contact manifold covered by lines in $\mathbb{P} \mathfrak{g}$. The subadjoint variety $S \subseteq \mathbb{P} W$ is denoted by the variety of lines on $X_{ad}$ through a fixed point $x$, where $W \subseteq T_{x}X$ is taken as the contact hyperplane. It follows from a result in representation theory of Vinberg that the GIT quotient space of codimension two linear sections of $S$ is isomorphic to the weighted projective space $\mathbb{P}(1,3,4,6)$. In this note, we investigate the problem of finding a geometric interpretation of the above isomorphism. As a main result, for each $\mathfrak{g}$ of the above type, we construct a natural open embedding of the GIT quotient space of nonsingular codimension two linear sections of $S$ into $\mathbb{P}(1,3,4,6)$ whose complement is a fixed hypersurface of degree 12. The key ingredient of our construction is to apply a correspondence of Bahargava and Ho which relates the above moduli problem to a moduli problem on curves of genus one.

Moduli of stable sheaves on quadric threefold

Abstract:For each $0<\alpha<\frac{1}{2}$, there exists a Bayer--Lahoz--Macr{\`{\i}}--Stellari's inducing Bridgeland stability condition $\sigma(\alpha)$ on a Kuznetsov component $\mathrm{Ku}(Q)$ of the smooth quadric threefold $Q$. We obtain the non-empty of the moduli space $M_{\sigma(\alpha)}([\mathcal{P}_{x}])$ of $\sigma(\alpha)$-semistable objects in $\mathrm{Ku}(Q)$ with the numerical class $[\mathcal{P}_{x}]$, where $\mathcal{P}_{x}\in \mathrm{Ku}(Q)$ is the projection sheaf of the skyscraper sheaf at a closed point $x\in Q$. We show that the moduli space $\overline{M}_{Q}(\mathbf{v})$ of Gieseker semistable sheaves with Chern character $\mathbf{v}=\mathrm{ch}(\mathcal{P}_{x})$ is smooth and irreducible of dimension four, and prove that the moduli space $M_{\sigma(\alpha)}([\mathcal{P}_{x}])$ is isomorphic to $\overline{M}_{Q}(\mathbf{v})$. As an application, we show that the quadric threefold $Q$ can be reinterpreted as a Brill--Noether locus in the Bridgeland moduli space $M_{\sigma(\alpha)}([\mathcal{P}_{x}])$. In the appendices, we show that the moduli space $M_{\sigma(\alpha)}([S])$ contains only one single point corresponding to the spinor bundle $S$ and give a Bridgeland moduli interpretation for the Hilbert scheme of lines in $Q$.

Moduli spaces on Kuznetsov components are Irreducible Symplectic Varieties

Abstract:This article studies moduli spaces of Bridgeland semistable objects in the Kuznetsov component of a cubic fourfold that don't admit a symplectic resolution, i.e., moduli spaces of objects with non-primitve Mukai vector v=mv_0 that is not of OG10-type and where v_0^2 >0. For a generic stability condition, it is shown that these moduli spaces are projective irreducible symplectic varieties with factorial terminal singularities and that their deformation class is uniquely determined by the integers m and v_0^2. Abstract:It is a folklore theorem that the Kuranishi slice method can be used to construct the moduli space of semistable Higgs bundles on a closed Riemann surface as a complex space. The purpose of this paper is to provide a proof in detail. We also give a direct proof that the moduli space is locally modeled on an affine GIT quotient of a quadratic cone by a complex reductive group.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a compact connected Riemann surface of genus $g$, with $g\, \geq\,2$, and let $\xi$ be a holomorphic line bundle on $X$ with $\xi^{\otimes 2}\,=\, {\mathcal O}_X$. Fix a theta characteristic $\mathbb L$ on $X$. Let ${\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ be the moduli space of stable vector bundles $E$ on $X$ of rank $r$ such that $\bigwedge^r E\,=\, \xi$ and $H^0(X,\, E\otimes{\mathbb L})\,=\, 0$. Consider the quotient of ${\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ by the involution given by $E\, \longmapsto\, E^*$. We construct an algebraic morphism from this quotient to the moduli space of ${\rm SL}(r,{\mathbb C})$ opers on $X$. Since $\dim {\mathcal M}_X(r,\xi)$ coincides with the dimension of the moduli space of ${\rm SL}(r,{\mathbb C})$ opers, it is natural to ask about the injectivity and surjectivity of this map.

Higher Dimensional Brill-Noether Loci and Moduli for Very Ample Line Bundles

Abstract:In this paper, we study Brill-Noether loci for higher dimensional varieties. Let $M$ be a moduli space of coherent sheaves on $X$. The Brill-Noether loci of $M$ are the closed subsets $\{\mathcal{F} \in M : h^0(X,\mathcal{F}) \geq k+1\}$. When $X$ is a smooth curve and $M = \textbf{Pic}_X^d$, the space of degree $d$ line bundles on $X$, the Brill-Noether loci have a natural determinantal scheme structure coming from a map of vector bundles on $\textbf{Pic}_X^d$, which is the main tool in studying their geometry. In [CMR10], the authors generalize this to the case where $X$ is any variety and $M$ is the moduli space of stable vector bundles on $X$ with fixed invariants but require that $H^i(X,E) = 0$ for all $E \in M$ and $i \geq 2$. We generalize these results by showing how to give a natural determinantal scheme structure to the Brill-Noether loci for any $X$ and any $M$. In doing so we develop the theory of Fitting ideals for a complex which can be used to define natural scheme structures in other cases as well, such as the locus of points where the projective dimension of a coherent sheaf jumps up. As an application of our results, we construct moduli spaces for very ample line bundles on a variety.

Lagrangian loci in moduli of abelian surfaces

Abstract:We show that any smooth surface germ in the moduli of abelian surfaces arises from a Lagrangian fibration of abelian surfaces. By Donagi-Markman's cubic condition, the key issue of the proof is to find a suitable affine structure with a compatible cubic form on the base space of the family. We achieve this by analyzing the properties of cubic forms in two variables and proving the existence of the solution of the resulting partial differential equations by Cauchy-Kowalewski Theorem. Modifying the argument, we show also that a smooth curve germ in the moduli of abelian surfaces arises from a Lagrangian fibration if and only if the curve is a null curve with respect to the natural holomorphic conformal structure on the moduli of abelian surfaces.

Abstract:Given a smooth genus three curve C, the moduli space of rank two stable vector bundles on C with trivial determinant embeds in as a hypersurface whose singular locus is the Kummer threefold of C; this hypersurface is the Coble quartic. Gruson, Sam and Weyman realized that this quartic could be constructed from a general skew-symmetric four-form in eight variables. Using the lines contained in the quartic, we prove that a similar construction allows to recover , the moduli space of rank two stable vector bundles on C with fixed determinant of odd degree L, as a subvariety of . In fact, each point defines a natural embedding of in . We show that, for the generic such embedding, there exists a unique quadratic section of the Grassmannian which is singular exactly along the image of and thus deserves to be coined the Coble quadric of the pointed curve .
