Abstract:The aim of this paper is to create a large geometrical background for the study of important branch of physics: electrodynamics, bosonic strings theory, magneto-hydrodynamics, and so forth. The geometrical construction is realized on the 1-jet fibre bundle J 1 ( T , M ) and is produced by a given quadratic multi-time Lagrangian function L . The Riemann-Lagrange geometry of the space E D M L p n = ( J 1 ( T , M ) , L ) , in the sense of d -connections, torsion and curvature d -tensors, allows the construction of a natural generalized multi-time field theory on E D M L P n , in the sense of generalized Maxwell and Einstein equations.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to construct natural geometrical objects on the 1-jet space J^1(T,R^5), where $T/subset R$, like a non-linear connection, a generalized Cartan connection, together with its d-torsions and d-curvatures, a jet electromagnetic d-field and a jet Yang-Mills energy, starting from the given Lorenz atmospheric DEs system and the pair of Euclidian metrics $/Delta = (1,/delta_{ij})$ on $T/times R^5$.

Geometry Via Sprays on Frechet Manifolds

Abstract:We construct connection maps and linear symmetric connections on tangent and second-order tangent bundles for \fr manifolds using the notion of a spray. For these manifolds, we characterize linear symmetric connections on tangent bundles in terms of bilinear symmetric mappings associated with sprays. We also provide an alternative characterization of these connections using tangent structures. Furthermore, we prove that a bijective correspondence exists between linear symmetric connections on tangent bundles and sprays.

Abstract:In the time evolution of fluids, the topologies of fluids can be changed by the creations and annihilations of singular points and by switching combinatorial structures of separatrices. In this paper, to describe the possible generic time evolution of Hamiltonian vector fields on surfaces with or without constraints, we study the structure of the ``moduli space'' of such vector fields under the non-existence of creations and annihilations of singular points. In fact, we describe the relations of bifurcations between Hamiltonian vector fields to construct foundations of descriptions of the time evaluations of fluid phenomena. Moreover, we show that the space of topologically equivalence classes of such vector fields has non-contractible connected components and is a disjoint union of finite abstract cell complexes such that the codimension of a cell corresponds to the instability of a Hamiltonian vector field by using combinatorics and simple homotopy theory. In particular, there is a connected component of the space that is weakly homotopic to a three-dimensional sphere.

Abstract:We introduce a functional that couples the nonlinear sigma model with a spinor field: L = ∫ M [|dφ|2 + (ψ,D/ψ)]. In two dimensions, it is conformally invariant. The critical points of this functional are called Dirac-harmonic maps. We study some geometric and analytic aspects of such maps, in particular a removable singularity theorem.

Abstract:A natural explicit condition is given ensuring that an action of the multiplicative monoid of non-negative reals on a manifold F comes from homotheties of a vector bundle structure on F , or, equivalently, from an Euler vector field. This is used in showing that double (or higher) vector bundles present in the literature can be equivalently defined as manifolds with a family of commuting Euler vector fields. Higher vector bundles can be therefore defined as manifolds admitting certain N n -grading in the structure sheaf. Consequently, multi-graded (super)manifolds are canonically associated with higher vector bundles that is an equivalence of categories. Of particular interest are symplectic multi-graded manifolds which are proven to be associated with cotangent bundles. Duality for higher vector bundles is then explained by means of the cotangent bundles as they contain the collection of all possible duals. This gives, moreover, higher generalizations of the known “universal Legendre transformation” T ∗ E ≃ T ∗ E ∗ , identifying the cotangent bundles of all higher vector bundles in duality. The symplectic multi-graded manifolds, equipped with certain homological Hamiltonian vector fields, lead to an alternative to Roytenberg’s picture generalization of Lie bialgebroids, Courant brackets, Drinfeld doubles and can be viewed as geometrical base for higher BRST and Batalin–Vilkovisky formalisms. This is also a natural framework for studying n -fold Lie algebroids and related structures.

Abstract:Let S be a compact Riemann surface (holomorphic curve) of genus g. Let p1; p2; . . . ; ps be s > 0 points on it; these points define a divisor, and we denote the open Riemann surface Snfp1; . . . ; psg by S. When 3g 3 þ s > 0, it carries a complete hyperbolic metric of finite volume, the so-called Poincaré metric; the points p1; p2; . . . ; ps then become cusps at infinity. Even in the remaining cases, that is, for a once or twice punctured sphere, we can equip S with a metric that is hyperbolic in the vicinity of the cusp(s), and for our purposes, the behavior of the metric there is all what counts, and we call such a metric Poincaré-like. In any case, our metric on S is denoted by o. Denote the inclusion map of S in S by j. Let r : p1ðSÞ ! Glðn;CÞ be a semisimple linear representation of p1ðSÞ which is unipotent near the cusps (for the precise definition, cf. §2.4). Corresponding to such a representation r, one has a local system Lr over S and a r-equivariant harmonic map h : S ! Glðn;CÞ=UðnÞ with a certain special growth condition near the divisor, which is especially of finite energy (for details, see §2.4). For the present case of complex dimension 1, this is actually elementary; it also follows from the general result of [11]. We also remark that if not imposing any growth condition, r-equivariant harmonic maps are not unique in general, even of infinite energy (cf. [13]). In order to see explicitly the behavior at the cusps of the harmonic map h used in this note, we explicitly construct an initial map, which has the required asymptotic behavior, and show why it has finite energy. Then the existence of the harmonic map h and its behavior are obtained in a standard manner presently. It should be pointed out that the construction here is essentially the same as that in [11]; but the target manifolds of [11] are very general, so the construction there was getting very complicated. The idea of the explicit construction here will also be used in the case of higher dimension. The harmonic map h obtained above can be considered as a Hermitian metric on Lr—harmonic metric—so that we have a so-called harmonic bundle ðLr; hÞ [23]. Such a bundle carries interesting structures, e.g. a Higgs bundle structure ðE; yÞ, where y 1⁄4 qh, and it has a log-singularity at the divisor.
Contact geometric mechanics: the Tulczyjew triples

Abstract:We propose a generalization of the classical Tulczyjew triple as a geometric tool in Hamiltonian and Lagrangian formalisms which serves for contact manifolds. The rôle of the canonical symplectic structures on cotangent bundles in Tulczyjew's case is played by the canonical contact structures on the bundles $J^1L$ of first jets of sections of line bundles $L\to M$. Contact Hamiltonians and contact Lagrangians are understood as sections of certain line bundles, and they determine (generally implicit) dynamics on the contact phase space $J^1L$. We also study a contact analog of the Legendre map and the Legendre transformation of generating objects in both contact formalisms. Several explicit examples are offered.

$J$-equation on holomorphic vector bundles

Abstract:We introduce the $J$-equation on holomorphic vector bundles over compact Kähler manifolds and investigate some fundamental properties as well as examples of solutions. In particular, we provide an algebraic condition called (asymptotic) $J$-stability in terms of subbundles on compact Kähler surfaces, and a numerical criterion on vortex bundles via dimensional reduction. Also, we discuss an application for the vector bundle version of the deformed Hermitian-Yang-Mills equation in the small volume regime.

Abstract:We investigate Jacobi fields and conjugate points in the context of sprays. We first prove that the conjugate points of a spray remain preserved under a projective change. Then, we establish conditions on the projective factor so that the projectively deformed spray meets the conditions of a proposition that ensures the existence of conjugate points. We discuss our methods by means of illustrative examples, throughout the paper.

Abstract:In this paper, the first in a series, we study the deformed Hermitian–Yang–Mills (dHYM) equation from the variational point of view as an infinite dimensional GIT problem. The dHYM equation is mirror to the special Lagrangian equation, and our infinite dimensional GIT problem is mirror to Thomas’ GIT picture for special Lagrangians. This gives rise to infinite dimensional manifold $${\mathcal {H}}$$ closely related to Solomon’s space of positive Lagrangians. In the hypercritical phase case we prove the existence of smooth approximate geodesics, and weak geodesics with $$C^{1,\alpha }$$ regularity. This is accomplished by proving sharp with respect to scale estimates for the Lagrangian phase operator on collapsing manifolds with boundary. As an application of our techniques we give a simplified proof of Chen’s theorem on the existence of $$C^{1,\alpha }$$ geodesics in the space of Kähler metrics. In two follow up papers, these results will be used to examine algebraic obstructions to the existence of solutions to dHYM [26] and special Lagrangians in Landau–Ginzburg models [27].

Abstract:In this paper we construct some natural geometrical objects on the 1-jet space J^1(R,R^3), like a nonlinear connection, a Cartan linear connection (together with its d-torsions and d-curvatures), a jet "electromagnetic" d-field and its geometric "electromagnetic" Yang-Mills energy, starting from a given dynamical system governing the three-dimensional motion of the knee in the mathematical model introduced by Grood and Suntay. The corresponding Yang-Mills energetic surfaces of constant level (produced by this knee dynamical system) are studied.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to make a connection between tropical geometry, representations of quantum affine algebras, and scattering amplitudes in physics. The connection allows us to study important and difficult questions in these areas: (1) We give a systematic construction of prime modules (including prime non-real modules) of quantum affine algebras using tropical geometry. We also introduce new objects which generalize positive tropical Grassmannians. (2) We propose a generalization of Grassmannian string integrals in physics, in which the integrand is no longer a finite, but rather an infinite product indexed by prime modules of a quantum affine algebra. We give a general formula of $u$-variables using prime tableaux (corresponding to prime modules of quantum affine algebras of type $A$) and Auslander-Reiten quivers of Grassmannian cluster categories. (3) We study limit $g$-vectors of cluster algebras. This is another way to obtain prime non-real modules of quantum affine algebras systematically. Using limit $g$-vectors, we construct new examples of non-real modules of quantum affine algebras.

Harmonic Morphisms and p-Harmonic Functions on the Classical Compact Symmetric Spaces via the Cartan Embedding

Abstract:Given a symmetric triple $(G,K,\sigma)$ of compact type, with $G^{\sigma} = K$, the well known Cartan embedding $\hat{\Phi}: G/K \to G$ homothetically embeds the symmetric space $M = G/K$ as a totally geodesic submanifold of $G$. In this thesis we show that $\hat{\Phi}$ and the related $K$-invariant Cartan map $\Phi = \hat{\Phi}\circ \pi$ are harmonic. This yields simple formulae relating the tension field $\tau$ and the recently introduced conformality operator $\kappa$ on the symmetric space $M$ to those on the image $\Phi(G)$ of the Cartan map. We use these formulae to construct common eigenfunctions of the tension field and conformality operator on all the classical irreducible compact symmetric spaces. On the complex and quaternionic Grassmannians we, in addition, construct eigenfamilies, which are families of compatible eigenfunctions. In the case of the quaternionic Grassmannians, some of these eigenfamilies are entirely new. It was recently discovered by S. Gudmundsson, A. Sakovich and M. Sobak that such eigenfunctions can be employed to construct proper $p$-harmonic functions, and that eigenfamilies can be applied to construct complex-valued harmonic morphisms. The results of this thesis can thus be used to construct harmonic morphisms and $p$-harmonic functions on the classical compact irreducible symmetric spaces, and in the case of the quaternionic Grassmannians, new examples of such maps.

Abstract:We address classical and quantum mechanics in a general setting of arbitrary time-dependent transformations. Classical non-relativistic mechanics is formulated as a particular field theory on smooth fibre bundles over a time axis. Connections on these bundles describe reference frames. Quantum time-dependent mechanics is phrased in geometric terms of Banach and Hilbert bundles and connections on these bundles. A quantization scheme speaking this language is leafwise geometric quantization.

Generalized Hamilton spaces: new developments and applications

Abstract:In this work, we make new developments in generic cotangent bundle geometries, depending on all phase-space variables. In particular, we will focus on the so-called generalized Hamilton spaces, discussing how the main ingredients of this geometrical framework, such as the Hamiltonian and the nonlinear and affine connections, can be derived from a given metric. Several properties of this kind of spaces are demonstrated for autoparallel Hamiltonians. Moreover, we study the spacetime and momentum isometries of the metric. Finally, we discuss the possible applications of cotangent bundle geometries in quantum gravity, such as the construction of deformed relativistic kinematics and non-commutative spacetimes.

Abstract:The focus of this paper revolves around investigating the harmonicity aspects of various mappings. Firstly, we explore the harmonicity of the canonical projection π : TM → M, where M denotes a Riemannian manifold and TM its associated tangent bundle. Additionally, we delve into the harmonicity of vector fields ξ ∈ χ (M) , treated as mappings from M to TM. Moreover, our exploration extends to situations such as the case involving the map π : (TM, ̃g) → (M2n, J, g), where (M2n, J, g) represents an anti-paraKähler manifold and (TM, ̃g) its tangent bundle with the ciconia metric. In this context, we delve into the harmonicity relations between the ciconia metric ̃g and the Sasaki metric Sg, examining their mutual interactions. Furthermore, we delve into the Schoutan-Van Kampen connection and the Vranceanu connection, both associated with the Levi-Civita connection of the ciconia metric. We also undertake the computation of the mean connections for the Schoutan-Van Kampen and Vranceanu connections, thereby shedding light on their properties. Finally, our investigation extends to the second fundamental form of the identity mapping from (TM, ̃g) to (TM,∇m) and (TM, ∇∗m). Here ∇m and ∇∗m represent the mean connections associated with the Schoutan-Van Kampen and Vranceanu connections, respectively.

A symplectic approach to Schrödinger equations in the infinite-dimensional unbounded setting

Abstract:By using the theory of analytic vectors and manifolds modelled on normed spaces, we provide a rigorous symplectic differential geometric approach to $t$-dependent Schrödinger equations on separable (possibly infinite-dimensional) Hilbert spaces determined by unbounded $t$-dependent self-adjoint Hamiltonians satisfying a technical condition. As an application, the Marsden--Weinstein reduction procedure is employed to map above-mentioned $t$-dependent Schrödinger equations onto their projective spaces. Other applications of physical and mathematical relevance are also analysed.
