Abstract:It is possible to interpret text as numbers (and vice versa) if one interpret letters and other characters as digits and assume that they have an inherent immutable ordering. This is demonstrated by the conventional digit set of the hexadecimal system of number coding, where the letters ABCDEF in this exact alphabetic sequence stand each for a digit and thus a numerical value. In this article, we consequently elaborate this thought and include all symbols and the standard ordering of the unicode standard for digital character coding. We show how this can be used to form digit sets of different sizes and how subsequent simple conversion between bases can result in encryption mimicking results of wrong encoding and accidental noise. Unfortunately, because of encoding peculiarities, switching bases to a higher one does not necessarily result in efficient disk space compression automatically.

SHIPHER: A New Family of Light-weight Block Ciphers Based on Dynamic Operators

Abstract:In this paper, we describe a family of block ciphers named SHIPHER. We present a symmetric encryption framework based on a cryptographic hash function and dynamic operators controlled by small random numbers. This dynamic operator mixes operations from different algebraic groups like IDEA [1]. However, unlike IDEA and extended IDEA ([2], [3]), modular addition is the only calculation in this framework and this makes SHIPHER highly efficient. The round function was chosen to provide confusion and diffusion to facilitate hardware implementations. This framework can provide families of secure, flexible, and variable-key-length block ciphers. Anny block size can be achieved. We have extensively investigated our encryption framework. We can easily control the computational cost by selecting block size, implementation method, and a hash function. Also, this framework offers excellent performance and it is flexible and generic enough to admit a variety of implementations on different dynamic operators. In this paper, we provide one implementation, show its performance, and discuss possible extensions of similar dynamic operators.
Dynamic Key AES Encryption Algorithm Based on Compound Chaotic Sequence

Abstract:To solve the traditional AES(Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm's security reduction problem caused by the unchanged seed key and fixed key space,combining with the chaotic sequence cipher and AES algorithm,this paper proposed a dynamic seed key AES encryption algorithm based on compound chaotic sequences and finished the software implementations.The algorithm uses the private key to construct the same-parameters' dual chaotic system at both ends of the encryption and decryption.The chaotic sequence is generated and cross-combined through two chaotic systems(logistic and tent) by a number of iterations that related to the plaintext length,and then mapped into the dynamic initial seed keys for the AES block cipher.Through the security analysis,statistical test and performance test,the analytical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has the advantages of high security,strong adaptability and fast operation speed,and it is very suitable for cross platform wireless secure data transmission applications.

By briefly discussing these techniques’ properties and design intuitions, we hope to build the necessary background to introduce the book’s main focus on searchable/structured symmetric encryption schemes, their modern constructions, and the roadmap toward full-fledged encrypted databases in the following chapters. Moreover, we will cover the major limitations of these technologies from both security and efficiency perspectives.

Abstract:Since the notion of attribute-based encryption (ABE) was proposed, it has been found a lot of important applications such as fine-grained access control. However, the issue of key exposure problem in ABE has been solved completely. This problem is formally addressed and formulated in this paper. More specifically, we propose a new key-insulated ABE (KI-ABE) scheme as a solution to the key exposure problem. The definition and security model of KI-ABE is proposed. Then, a KI-ABE scheme is presented, which is provably secure under the proposed model. The scheme is secure in the remaining time periods against an adversary who compromises the insecure device and obtains secret keys for the periods of its choice. Finally, we show that the scheme also supports user delegation, which is critical when one wants to delegate part of attributes (privileges) to others.

Abstract:With the rapid development of internet technology and the increasing popularity of e-commerce, data encryption technology plays a very important role in data security. Information security has two aspects: security protocol and cryptographic algorithm and the latter is the foundation and core technology of information security. Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption algorithm is one of the most commonly used algorithms in symmetric encryption algorithms. Such algorithms face issues when used in the context of key management and security functions. This paper focuses on the systematic analysis of these issues and summarizes AES algorithm implementation, comprehensive application and algorithm comparison with other existing methods. To analyze the performance of the proposed algorithm and to make full use of the advantages of AES encryption algorithm, one needs to reduce round key and improve the key schedule, as well as organically integrate with RSA algorithm. Java language is used to implement the algorithm due to its large library, then to show the efficiency of the proposed method we compare different parameters, such as encryption/decryption speed, entropies and memory consumption...) with a classic algorithm. Based on the results of the comparison between AES and the hybrid AES algorithm, the proposed algorithm shows good performance and high security. It therefore can be used for key management and security functions, particularly for sharing sensitive files through insecure channel. This analysis provides a reference useful for selecting different encryption algorithms according to different business needs.

Abstract:In this paper a novel algorithm for evolving encryption sequences based on particle dynamics is presented to design encryption systems with high safety and efficiency. Because the algorithm based on particle dynamics is constructed by using the law of entropy increasing and the principle of energy minimum of particle systems, it has features of uniformity and diversity in particle distribution of particle systems. Therefore, the sequence encryption produced has high randomicity, more chaos and long periodicity. The experiments show that the sequence encryption by using this method has high randomicity, and the encryption system by using this method has better security and safety.
Generalized Triangular Dynamical System: An Algebraic System for Constructing Cryptographic Permutations over Finite Fields

Abstract:In recent years a new class of symmetric-key primitives over $\mathbb{F}_p$ that are essential to Multi-Party Computation and Zero-Knowledge Proofs based protocols have emerged. Towards improving the efficiency of such primitives, a number of new block ciphers and hash functions over $\mathbb{F}_p$ were proposed. These new primitives also showed that following alternative design strategies to the classical Substitution-Permutation Network (SPN) and Feistel Networks leads to more efficient cipher and hash function designs over $\mathbb{F}_p$ specifically for large odd primes $p$. In view of these efforts, in this work we build an \emph{algebraic framework} that allows the systematic exploration of viable and efficient design strategies for constructing symmetric-key (iterative) permutations over $\mathbb{F}_p$. We first identify iterative polynomial dynamical systems over finite fields as the central building block of almost all block cipher design strategies. We propose a generalized triangular polynomial dynamical system (GTDS), and based on the GTDS we provide a generic definition of an iterative (keyed) permutation over $\mathbb{F}_p^n$. Our GTDS-based generic definition is able to describe the three most well-known design strategies, namely SPNs, Feistel networks and Lai--Massey. Consequently, the block ciphers that are constructed following these design strategies can also be instantiated from our generic definition. Moreover, we find that the recently proposed \texttt{Griffin} design, which neither follows the Feistel nor the SPN design, can be described using the generic GTDS-based definition. We also show that a new generalized Lai--Massey construction can be instantiated from the GTDS-based definition. We further provide generic analysis of the GTDS including an upper bound on the differential uniformity and the correlation.

Dynamic encryption key design and management for memory data encryption in embedded systems

Abstract:To effectively encrypt data memory contents of an embedded processor, multiple keys which are dynamically changed are necessary. However, the resources required to store and manage these keys on-chip (so that they are secure) can be extensive. This paper presents a design where each dynamic key is determined by a random number, a counter value, and a memory address, and is unique to the data in a memory location. The counter value, dedicated to a given memory location, controls the duration of the random number for the key associated with the location. The counter table and random number table are used for key storage. We reduce on-chip resources by customizing the counter table and allowing a pool of random numbers to be shared amongst the keys. The random numbers are dynamically updated during the application execution. We propose a key generation and management scheme such that the random number pool is extremely small (hence low memory consumption) yet sufficient for the uniqueness and randomness of each dynamic key. Experiments on a set of applications show that on average, large overhead (90% on chip area and 92% on power consumption) can be saved for a same security level, when compared to the state-of-the-art approach.

Abstract:The growth and development of Cloud Computing from its inception till today has made a tremendous progress and the evident of the same is seen in every walk of life. However considering data security there is a big hiatus. It is consistently under threat besides many guards This in turn has created a research gap to find out the secure guard for Data Security. Data security is primarily dependent on encryption algorithms to secure data in the CC environment. Thus the encryption algorithm plays a predominant role in Cloud Storage (CS) which is a place to store all the data of the users or data owners. Hence the usage of CS has become inevitable in almost all fields including education, industry, business and the usage of the same is grown in leaps and bounds particularly in the pandemic. The metamorphosis of the encryption algorithm (i.e. AES, Triple DES, and Blowfish) has a complex formation to secure the data. However complex the formation is; it fails to cope with the modern-day processer evaluation. The complexity level tends to be low considering the performance of the modern-day processer evaluation. Hence an alternate solution is demanded and this research paper has attempted to meet the demand by introducing the new multi-layered cryptographic algorithm named as UK to secure the CS data. This UK algorithm follows an entirely new transformation procedure to secure the data. It creates huge complexity in reasonable encryption time, even though brute force needs to be more complex ever. The key and Metadata are not stored in any place so that the CS service provider will not be able to do anything in this structure. In this case, the database service providers have the hold of the encrypted data of the user which cannot be accessed by any attacking techniques. Hence, the CS provider becomes the warehouse maintainer.

Abstract:Data encryption technology can protect data from illegal theft. This study analyzed the Rivest, Shamir, and Adleman (RSA) algorithm, the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, and their encryption and decryption processes, compared their merits and demerits, and combined them to from the AES + RSA algorithm to achieve network data protection. It was found from the performance analysis that the AES algorithm only took a short time to encrypt and decrypt, while the RSA algorithm, due to asymmetric encryption, spent a much longer time in decryption than in encryption; the total time consumed by the AES algorithm for encryption and decryption increased hundreds of times, but the operation time of the AES + RSA algorithm was only slightly longer than that of the AES algorithm. Also, from the perspective of security analysis, both AES and RSA algorithms had high confidentiality, which could meet the needs of information security. The results show that the combination of AES and RSA algorithms is effective in information security, which can be further popularized and applied in reality.

Abstract:AbstractAttribute based encryption (ABE) has been widely applied for secure data protection in various data sharing systems. However, the efficiency of existing ABE schemes is not high enough since running encrypt and decrypt algorithms need frequent bilinear pairing operations, which may occupy too much computing resources on terminal devices. What’s more, since different users may share the same attributes in the system, a single user’s private key exposure will threaten the security and confidentiality of the whole system. Therefore, to further decrease the computation cost in attribute based cryptosystem as well as provide secure protection when key exposure happens, in this paper, we firstly propose a high efficient key-insulated ABE algorithm without pairings. The key-insulated mechanism guarantees both forward security and backward security when key exposure or user revocation happens. Besides, during the running of algorithms in our scheme, users and attribute authority needn’t run any bilinear pairing operations, which will increase the efficiency to a large extent. The high efficiency and security analysis indicate that our scheme is more appropriate for secure protection in data sharing systems.

Abstract:Nowadays, the dataflux shared between IOT systems must be secured from 8-bits to 64-bits processors systems. Several symmetric cryptographic algorithm already exist such as AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), RC4, Blowfish, etc. In this work, we propose an 8-bits encryption algorithm, combining several ideas of standard symmetric encryption algorithms. The aim is to provide a efficient, modular and compact algorithm able to tend to truly random one-time-pad encryption quality even for large data flux. The algorithm combines the implementation of a divergent polynomial with variable coefficients for pseudo-random keys generation, variable bit swapping and bitwise operations on data, and the use of one or two passwords. The encryption has been evaluated statistically, tested for image encryption and compared with One-Time-Pad encryption on the same data. Three implementations have been tested respectively in C, Javascript and GNU Octave. Encryption time performances are compared with AES on a 8-bits architecture: the Arduino Uno (ATmega328) microcontroller. A new concept of self-decryptionable web encrypted object, called Blocksnet is also presented and tested as a potential application of the compact and embedded PMSE algorithm.

Abstract:This study employed chaotic systems as an innovative approach for shellcode obfuscation to evade current antivirus detection methods. Standard AV solutions primarily rely on static signatures and heuristic analysis to identify malicious code. However, chaotic systems employ dynamic and unpredictable encryption methods, significantly obstructing detection efforts. The utilization of various chaotic maps for shellcode encryption facilitates the generation of multiple unique variations from the same functional code, each exhibiting distinct unpredictability due to the inherent nonlinearity and sensitivity of chaotic systems to initial conditions. The unpredictability of these situations poses a considerable challenge for antivirus software in recognizing consistent patterns, resulting in decreased detection rates. The findings from our experiments demonstrate that chaos-driven encryption methods significantly outperform traditional encryption techniques in terms of evading detection. This paper emphasizes the potential of chaos theory to enhance malware evasion strategies, offering a sophisticated approach to bypassing modern antivirus protections while ensuring the effectiveness of malicious payloads.

Abstract:In the case of the need of extraordinary security, Kirchhoff-loop-Johnson-(like)-noise ciphers can easily be integrated on existing types of digital chips in order to provide secure data communication between hardware processors, memory chips, hard disks and other units within a computer or other data processor system. The secure key exchange can take place at the very first run and the system can renew the key later at random times with an authenticated fashion to prohibit man-in-the-middle attack. The key can be stored in flash memories within the communicating chip units at hidden random addresses among other random bits that are continuously generated by the secure line but are never actually used. Thus, even if the system is disassembled, and the eavesdropper can have direct access to the communication lines between the units, or even if she is trying to use a man-in-the-middle attack, no information can be extracted. The only way to break the code is to learn the chip structure, to understand the machine code program and to read out the information during running by accessing the proper internal ports of the working chips. However such an attack needs extraordinary resources and even that can be prohibited by a password lockout. The unconditional security of commercial algorithms against piracy can be provided in a similar way.

Abstract:Using the hybrid operation of different algebra group and mapping theory of discrete mathematics, combining confusion and diffusion simultaneously, we designed a kind of new Symmetric Encryption M Algorithm that is very suitable for Non-letter Based Language Messages (such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc). This algorithm is based on reliable group theory in discrete mathematics. Its realization is easy either on hardware or software base. In this paper we elaborated the mathematics theory of the algorithm, the construction of the key, the protocol of encryption, transmission, decryption and its security. Its validity is verified by a sample. It has reliable mathematical theory, high security and high encryption speed. The algorithm breakthrough the round operation and repetition XOR operation used in traditional symmetric encryption algorithm. This is a beneficial search in symmetric algorithm design.
