Abstract:We define a family of quiver representation-valued invariants of oriented classical and virtual knots and links associated to a choice of finite quandle $X$, abelian group $A$, set of quandle 2-cocycles $C\subset H^2_Q(x;A)$, choice of coefficient ring $k$ and set of quandle endomorphisms $S\subset \mathrm{Hom}(X,X)$. From this representation we define four new polynomial (or ``polynomial'' depending on $A$) invariants. We generalize to the case of biquandles and compute some examples.

Abstract:It is well-known that the cohomology of symmetric quandles generates robust cocycle invariants for unoriented classical and surface links. Expanding on the recently introduced module-theoretic generalized cohomology for symmetric quandles, we derive a four-term exact sequence that relates 1-cocycles, second cohomology, and a specific group of automorphisms associated with the extensions of symmetric quandles. This exact sequence shows that the obstruction to lifting and extending automorphisms is found in the second symmetric quandle cohomology. Additionally, some general aspects of dynamical cocycles and extensions are discussed.

Abstract:Quandle homology was defined from rack homology as the quotient by a subcomplex corresponding to the idempotency, for invariance under the type I Reidemeister move. Similar subcomplexes have been considered for various identities of racks and moves on diagrams. We observe common aspects of these identities and subcomplexes; a quandle identity gives rise to a $2$-cycle, the abelian extension with a $2$-cocycle that vanishes on the $2$-cycle inherits the identity, and a subcomplex is constructed from the identity. Specific identities are examined among small connected quandles.

Abstract:We further study the symplectic Khovanov homology of Seidel and Smith and its generalization to even tangles. This homology theory is a conjectural geometric model for Khovanov homology. In this paper we uncover structures on symplectic Khovanov homology which have analogues in Khovanov homology. To each elementary (as well as minimal) cobordism between two tangles we associate a homomorphism between the symplectic Khovanov homology groups of the two tangles. We define the symplectic analogues $H_{s}^m$ of Khovanov's arc algebras and equip the symplectic Khovanov homology of an $(m,n)$-tangle with the structure of an $(H_{s}^m,H_{s}^n)$-bimodule. We show that $H_{s}^m$ and Khovanov's $H^m$ are isomorphic as associative algebras over $\Z/2$. We also obtain a skein exact triangle for symplectic Khovanov homology which resembles the one for Khovanov homology.

Abstract:Using the Harpaz-Nuiten-Prasma interpretation of the Dwyer-Kan-Smith cohomology of a simplicial category $\mathcal{X}$, we obtain a cochain complex for the André-Quillen cohomology groups in which the $k$-invariants for $\mathcal{X}$ take value. Given a map of simplicial categories $\phi:\mathcal{Y}\rightarrow P^{(n-1)} \mathcal{X}$ into a Postnikov section of $\mathcal{X}$, we use a homotopy colimit decomposition of $\mathcal{Y}$ to study the obstruction to lifting $\phi$ to $P^{(n)}\mathcal{X}$. In particular, an explicit description of this obstruction for the boundary of a cube can be used to recover various higher homotopy invariants of $\mathcal{X}$.

Involutive Khovanov homology and equivariant knots

Abstract:We define an involutive version of Khovanov homology and a pair of integer-valued invariants $(\underline{s}, \bar{s})$ for strongly invertible knots, which is an equivariant version of the Rasmussen invariant $s$. Using these invariants, we show that there is an infinite family of knots $J_n$ admitting exotic pairs of slice disks. Our construction is intended to give a Khovanov-theoretic analogue of the formalism given by Dai, Mallick and Stoffregen in knot Floer theory.

Equivariant aspects of singular instanton Floer homology

Abstract:We associate several invariants to a knot in an integer homology 3-sphere using $SU(2)$ singular instanton gauge theory. There is a space of framed singular connections for such a knot, equipped with a circle action and an equivariant Chern-Simons functional, and our constructions are morally derived from the associated equivariant Morse chain complexes. In particular, we construct a triad of groups analogous to the knot Floer homology package in Heegaard Floer homology, several Frøyshov-type invariants which are concordance invariants, and more. The behavior of our constructions under connected sums are determined. We recover most of Kronheimer and Mrowka's singular instanton homology constructions from our invariants. Finally, the ADHM description of the moduli space of instantons on the 4-sphere can be used to give a concrete characterization of the moduli spaces involved in the invariants of spherical knots, and we demonstrate this point in several examples.

Planar Equivalence of Knotoids and Quandle Invariants

Abstract:While knotoids on the sphere are well-understood by a variety of invariants, knotoids on the plane have proven more subtle to classify due to their multitude over knotoids on the sphere and a lack of invariants that detect a diagram's planar nature. In this paper, we investigate equivalence of planar knotoids using quandle colorings and cocycle invariants. These quandle invariants are able to detect planarity by considering quandle colorings that are restricted at distinguished points in the diagram, namely the endpoints and the point-at-infinity. After defining these invariants we consider their applications to symmetry properties of planar knotoids such as invertibility and chirality. Furthermore we introduce an invariant called the triangular quandle cocycle invariant and show that it is a stronger invariant than the end specified quandle colorings.

Invariance and naturality of knot lattice homology and homotopy

Abstract:Links of singularity and generalized algebraic links are ways of constructing three-manifolds and smooth links inside them from potentially singular complex algebraic surfaces and complex curves inside them. We prove that knot lattice homology is an invariant of the smooth knot type of a generalized algebraic knot in a rational homology sphere. In that case, knot lattice homology can be realized as the cellular homology of a doubly-filtered homotopy type, which is itself invariant. Along the way, we show that the topological link type of a generalized algebraic link determines the topology of the minimal plumbing resolution for the nested singularity type used to create it. Knot lattice homotopy is a natural invariant in that diffeomorphisms of the knot that play suitably well with the minimal good resolution will provide a contractible space of morphisms between the doubly-filtered knot lattice spaces associated to any presentation.

CoHA of Cyclic Quivers and an Integral Form of Affine Yangians

Abstract:We calculate the deformed and non-deformed cohomological Hall algebra (CoHA) of the preprojective algebra for the case of cyclic quivers by studying the Kontsevich-Soibelman CoHA and using tools from cohomological Donaldson-Thomas theory. We show that for the cyclic quiver of length $K$, this algebra is the universal enveloping algebra of the positive half of a certain extension of matrix differential operators on $\mathbb{C}^{*}$, while its deformation gives a positive half of an explicit integral form of Guay's Affine Yangian $\ddot{\mathcal{Y}}_{\hbar_1,\hbar_2}(\mathfrak{gl}(K))$. By the main theorem of Botta-Davison (2023) and Schiffmann-Vasserot (2023), this also determines the positive half of the Maulik-Okounkov Yangian for the case of cyclic quivers. Furthermore, we provide evidence for the strong rationality conjecture, calculate the spherical subalgebra of the non-deformed CoHA for any quiver without loops, recover results about the CoHA of compactly supported semistable sheaves on the minimal resolution of the Kleinian singularity $\mathbb{C}^2/\mathbb{Z}_{K}$ and identify a commutative algebra inside the additive shuffle algebra associated to the cyclic quiver. We end by conjecturally relating the obtained integral form with the algebra defined by Gaiotto-Rapčák-Zhou, in the context of twisted M-theory.

Abstract:In [3] quandle cohomology is used to produce invariants for particular embeddings of codimension two; 2-cocycles give rise to invariants for (classical) knots and 3-cocycles give rise to invariants for knotted surfaces. This is done by way of a notion of coloring of a diagram. Also, these invariants have the form of the state-sums (or partition functions) used in Statistical Mechanics. By a careful analysis of these colorings of diagrams we are able to come up with new invariants which correspond to calculation of the partition function at finite temperatures.

Abstract:We study homological invariants of étale groupoids arising from Smale spaces, continuing on our previous work, but going beyond the stably disconnected case by incorporating resolutions in the space direction. We show that the homology groups defined by Putnam are isomorphic to the Crainic-Moerdijk groupoid homology with integer coefficients. We also show that the K-groups of C*-algebras of stable and unstable equivalence relations have finite rank. For unstably disconnected Smale spaces, we provide a cohomological spectral sequence whose second page is the (stable) homology groups, and converges to the K-groups of the unstable C*-algebra.

Abstract:We continue our study of the integer-valued knot invariants $\nu^\sharp(K)$ and $r_0(K)$, which together determine the dimensions of the framed instanton homologies of all nonzero Dehn surgeries on $K$. We first establish a "conjugation" symmetry for the decomposition of cobordism maps constructed in our earlier work, and use this to prove, among many other things, that $\nu^\sharp(K)$ is always either zero or odd. We then apply these technical results to study linear independence in the homology cobordism group, to define an instanton Floer analogue $\epsilon^\sharp(K)$ of Hom's $\epsilon$-invariant in Heegaard Floer homology, and to the problem of characterizing a given 3-manifold as Dehn surgery on a knot in $S^3$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. Our aim is to construct knot homologies categorifying Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants of knots for arbitrary representations, which will be done in a follow-up paper. We consider an algebraic construction of these categories, via an explicit diagrammatic presentation, generalizing the cyclotomic quotient of the quiver Hecke algebra. One of our primary results is that these categories coincide when both are defined. We also investigate finer structure of these categories. Like many similar representation-theoretic categories, they are standardly stratified and satisfy a double centralizer property with respect to their self-dual modules. The standard modules of the stratification play an important role, as Vermas do in more classical representation theory, as test objects for functors. The existence of these representations has consequences for the structure of previously studied categorifications; it allows us to prove the non-degeneracy of Khovanov and Lauda's 2-category (that its Hom spaces have the expected dimension) in all symmetrizable types, and that the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras are symmetric Frobenius.

Abstract:We construct knot invariants categorifying the quantum knot variants for all representations of quantum groups. We show that these invariants coincide with previous invariants defined by Khovanov for sl_2 and sl_3 and by Mazorchuk-Stroppel and Sussan for sl_n. Our technique is to study 2-representations of 2-quantum groups (in the sense of Rouquier and Khovanov-Lauda) categorifying tensor products of irreducible representations. These are the representation categories of certain finite dimensional algebras with an explicit diagrammatic presentation, generalizing the cyclotomic quotient of the KLR algebra. When the Lie algebra under consideration is $\mathfrak{sl}_n$, we show that these categories agree with certain subcategories of parabolic category O for gl_k. We also investigate the finer structure of these categories: they are standardly stratified and satisfy a double centralizer property with respect to their self-dual modules. The standard modules of the stratification play an important role as test objects for functors, as Vermas do in more classical representation theory. The existence of these representations has consequences for the structure of previously studied categorifications. Homogeneous quandles with abelian inner automorphism groups and vertex-transitive graphs

Abstract:A quandle is an algebraic system originated in knot theory, and can be regarded as a generalization of symmetric spaces. The inner automorphism group of a quandle is defined as the group generated by the point symmetries (right multiplications). In this paper, starting from any simple graphs, we construct quandles whose inner automorphism groups are abelian. We also prove that the constructed quandle is homogeneous if and only if the graph is vertex-transitive. This shows that there is a wide family of quandles with abelian inner automorphism groups, even if we impose the homogeneity. The key examples of such quandles are realized as subquandles of oriented real Grassmannian manifolds.

Generalized (co)homology of symmetric quandles over homogeneous Beck modules

Abstract:A quandle equipped with a good involution is referred to as symmetric. It is known that the cohomology of symmetric quandles gives rise to strong cocycle invariants for classical and surface links, even when they are not necessarily oriented. In this paper, we introduce the category of symmetric quandle modules and prove that these modules completely determine the Beck modules in the category of symmetric quandles. Consequently, this establishes suitable coefficient objects for constructing appropriate (co)homology theories. We develop an extension theory of modules over symmetric quandles and propose a generalized (co)homology theory for symmetric quandles with coefficients in a homogeneous Beck module, which also recovers the symmetric quandle (co)homology developed by Kamada and Oshiro [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. (2010)]. Our constructions also apply to symmetric racks. We conclude by establishing an explicit isomorphism between the second cohomology of a symmetric quandle and the first cohomology of its associated group.

Abstract:We present solutions to additive and multiplicative Cousin problems formulated on an axially symmetric domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb H$ for slice--regular functions starting from the solutions for subclasses, namely slice--regular slice--preserving functions and functions in a given vectorial class. Consequently, we prove the vanishing of the corresponding cohomology groups with respect to axially symmetric open coverings (Theorems 1.1, 4.1, 4.2). The primary tool used in the proofs of these theorems is the existence of quaternionic Cartan coverings and Cartan's splitting lemmas. As an application, we prove a jet interpolation theorem (Theorem 1.2) and show that every divisor is principal (Theorem 5.1).

Knot Categorification from Mirror Symmetry, Part I: Coherent Sheaves

Abstract:We derive two geometric approaches to categorification of quantum invariants of links associated to an arbitrary compact simple Lie group $^L{G}$. In part I, we describe the first approach, based on an equivariant derived category of coherent sheaves on ${\cal X}$, the moduli space of singular $G$-monopoles, where $G$ is related to $^LG$ by Langlands duality. In part II, we describe the second approach, based on the derived category of a Fukaya-Seidel category of a Calabi-Yau $Y$ with potential $W$. The two approaches are related by a version of mirror symmetry, which plays a crucial role in the story. In part III, we explain the string theory origin of these results, and the relation to an approach due to Witten.

Abstract:We apply Majid's transmutation procedure to Hopf algebra maps $H \to \mathbb C[T]$, where $T$ is a compact abelian group, and explain how this construction gives rise to braided Hopf algebras over quotients of $T$ by subgroups that are cocentral in $H$. This allows us to unify and generalize a number of recent constructions of braided compact quantum groups, starting from the braided $SU_q(2)$ quantum group, and describe their bosonizations.
