Abstract:We give a definition for Obstacle Problems with measure data and general obstacles. For such problems we prove existence and uniqueness of solutions and consistency with the classical theory of Variational Inequalities. Continuous dependence with respect to data is discussed.

Abstract:In this paper we study the continuous dependence with respect to obstacles for obstacle problems with measure data. This is deeply investigated introducing a suitable type of convergence, which gives stability under very general hypotheses. Moreover stability with respect to H^1 and uniform convergent obstacles is proved.

Abstract:Let us consider the autonomous obstacle problem \begin{equation*} \min_v \int_\Omega F(Dv(x)) \, dx \end{equation*} on a specific class of admissible functions, where we suppose the Lagrangian satisfies proper hypotheses of convexity and superlinearity at infinity. Our aim is to characterize the solution, which exists and it is unique, thanks to a primal-dual formulation of the problem. The proof is based on classical arguments of Convex Analysis and on Calculus of Variations' techniques.

Abstract:We prove the existence and uniqueness of solution of the obstacle problem for quasilinear Stochastic PDEs with non-homogeneous second order operator. Our method is based on analytical technics coming from the parabolic potential theory. The solution is expressed as a pair (u, v) where u is a predictable continuous process which takes values in a proper Sobolev space and v is a random regular measure satisfying minimal Skohorod condition. Moreover, we establish a maximum principle for local solutions of such class of stochastic PDEs. The proofs are based on a version of ItO's formula and estimates for the positive part of a local solution which is non-positive on the lateral boundary.

Abstract:We investigate elliptic irregular obstacle problems with $p$-growth involving measure data. Emphasis is on the strongly singular case $1 < p \le 2-1/n$, and we obtain several new comparison estimates to prove gradient potential estimates in an intrinsic form. Our approach can be also applied to derive zero-order potential estimates.

Abstract:This work aims to investigate the existence of ergodic invariant measures and its uniqueness, associated with obstacle problems governed by a T-monotone operator defined on Sobolev spaces and driven by a multiplicative noise in a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^d$. First, we verify that the solution of a stochastic obstacle problem defines a Feller-Markov process. Then, we prove the existence of ergodic invariant measures and its uniqueness, under suitablee assumptions. We use \textit{"Krylov-Bogoliubov Theorem"}, where the control of the singularities caused by the obstacle is fundamental.

Abstract:We establish the existence, uniqueness, and $W^{1,2,p}$-regularity of solutions to fully-nonlinear, parabolic obstacle problems when the obstacle is the pointwise supremum of functions in $W^{1,2,p}$ and the nonlinear operator is required only to be measurable in the state and time variables. In particular, the results hold for all convex obstacles. Applied to stopping problems, they provide general conditions under which a decision maker never stops at a convex kink of the stopping payoff. The proof relies on new $W^{1,2,p}$-estimates for obstacle problems when the obstacle is the maximum of finitely many functions in $W^{1,2,p}$.

Abstract:This work establishes the existence of variational solutions and their measurability to a very broad class of elliptic variational inequalities or set-inclusions under very general assumptions on the operators and the forcing functions and on their measurability. These results extend the current existence results for such problems and so the existence results are new, and so are the results when randomness is added. Moreover, it presents new measurability theorems when the operators and forcing functions are random processes. As an important application of the general existence result, it presents existence results for quasistatic problems in which the main operator is elliptic and time enters as a parameter or through dependence on auxiliary variables.

Abstract:Abstract This work is devoted to the study of the obstacle problem associated to the Kolmogorov–Fokker–Planck operator with rough coefficients through a variational approach. In particular, after the introduction of a proper anisotropic Sobolev space and related properties, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a weak solution for the obstacle problem by adapting a classical perturbation argument to the convex functional associated to the case of our interest. Finally, we conclude this work by providing a one-sided associated variational inequality, alongside with an overview on related open problems.

In this paper, we consider a mixed boundary value problem with a nonhomogeneous, nonlinear differential operator (called double phase operator), a nonlinear convection term (a reaction term depending on the gradient), three multivalued terms, and an implicit obstacle constraint. Under very general assumptions on the data, we prove that the solution set of such an implicit obstacle problem is nonempty (so there is at least one solution) and weakly compact. The proof of our main result uses the Kakutani–Ky Fan fixed point theorem for multivalued operators along with the theory of nonsmooth analysis and variational methods for pseudomonotone operators.
